I got the kumamoto black garlic tonkotsu ramen w/o the soft boiled egg. It was so flavorful. They were out of the peach and passion fruit sake so we went with a carafe of the pineapple for $8. Every inch of space is used for seating but it doesn't feel crowded at all. There was ample parking in the parking lots. I'd definitely go again. I got the crawfish mazeman which is a brothless udon style noodle dish and the flavors were unlike anything I've ever had before. Also, there was a wait to sit inside so we sat outside and they had the big heaters, which I loved!! Tried Boru last week and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not usually a big ramen fan but my husband loves it so its always a treat for him to try new ramen places. I usually just find something else on the menu but I was worried when we got to boru and the menu was pretty much only ramen with a few appetizers. The blistered shishitos were DELICIOUS. I ended up ordering the shrimp appetizer with a side of rice and it was absolutely delicious. And surprisingly filling. My husband got the tonkotsu black ramen and was happy with it but didn't measure up to other ramen in the area in his opinion. We will definitely be back to try more though! This is a great place for ramen the noodles are bouncy with a really creamy base ( I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen) the cha su rice bowl are okay I was wishing for a stronger pork flavor but it is decent. Quite simply and easily the best Ramen in the state. If you have a penchant for Japanese food and like ramen absolutely make this a priority on your list. Very good quality ingredients and very much so authentic. I wouldn't eat at any other place when I lived here in Baton Rouge. The Chicken Karaage is very good here as well. This place has been on my to do list for awhile. I finally visited on a whim on Sunday afternoon. I was greeted promptly and seated. I ordered the small size chicken Karaage but I definetly should of gotten the large. It was so good the chicken was flavorful and juicy and I loved the kewpie Mayo dipping sauce. For my entree I ordered the Rouge Red Tonkotsu. I substituted the bean sprouts (not a fan) for cabbage and added corn. My only complaint is that the corn came in a seperate dish and was cold. I would have preferred it be added to the ramen. I added it myself and it was fine. The ramen was spicy yet flavorful and very filling. All in all I highly recommend Boru Ramen. Everything was delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Karaage, the Kyori (cucumbers) and the Sigou fries. The chicken was lightly battered fried thigh meat served with kewpie mayo. It was very hot and flavorful. The fries were crispy and served with seaweed strips. Very good although I thought it could have used a side of the mayo itself. I ordered the Red Rouge Tonkotsu recommended by Matt Moscona and it was the perfect amount of spice in the pork broth. The pork itself was very delicate and yummy. The ebi fry could be a little seasoned. It was so bland and the tartar saice that came with it didnt help it even a bit. I visited Boru Ramen on their third day of business, and I am so glad I did. The server immediately greeted us as we walked up to the outdoor seating area, and brought us over to explain the menu and answer any questions we had. Then, we ordered at a window (where hand sanitizer was available), sat down at an outdoor table, and proceeded to have an excellent meal! Food & Drink: 5/5 My absolute favorite part about Boru is the fact that they have a vegan entree - the Vegan Shoyu! I'm pescatarian (eat fish and dairy but no meat), so I was thrilled to have an option that doesn't skimp on creativity or flavor. The dish was DELICIOUS - the broth was so warm and hearty, and the kale noodles were so good! My carnivorous friend tried the noodles and could not believe they were made from kale. All of the ingredients in my shoyu tasted fresh and well-cooked, and they came together to create such a yummy bowl of ramen. The price was $13.50 for the vegan shoyu, which I think is appropriate considering the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. There are appetizers available which I didn't order this time, but I look forward to trying those since I think at least one is vegetarian. They also have several drinks available - including strawberry soju, which we were very excited about! You can even buy bottles to go. Atmosphere: 5/5 Our entire experience was outdoors, on their outdoor patio with ceiling fans. The weather was super nice and I was glad to eat outside considering COVID. The staff was always wearing masks, and there was plenty of hand sanitizer available. I didn't get to go inside, but it looks like the indoor dining area is beautiful and there was a lot of thought put into the design! Can't wait to eat inside once it is safe to do so. Service: 5/5 The extremely polite staff came by several times to check on us and ask if we needed anything. They were happy to answer our questions, bring us extra bowls/utensils, and asked us how the food was as well. It's clear they really want to do a good job especially since the restaurant just opened. The wait for food was really short as well, I think it may have been less than 10 minutes after ordering that we got our food. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back, especially since they are currently serving a Limited Menu so there will be even more to try in the future.
