The service was perfect on the weeknight I went. The hot/fusion dishes we were served were very tasty and the drinks were delicious. However, I don't think I will come back here for sushi anymore. This is the second time I've had sushi here within the last year and both times it was not great. Me and my friend both got multiple dishes with sushi rice and the rice was old and hard on both. The fish inside was ok, not bad tasting but not the freshest either. For the same price you can get much better sushi somewhere else. This is my first review for Soji, but my third time dining here. I popped in with a friend for the advertised "Ladies Night" on Thursdays. I would recommend making reservations, but they do accept walk-ins. Also, prepare for the limited parking. We parked down the street and walked, but it's not ideal especially at night. Without reservations, the hostess quickly sat us at the bar area. Unfortunately, the first table he offered wasn't even cleaned off yet. We opted for the tables that were already cleaned, but of course this table rocked all night. The Bartender CC came over and took our order. She was really nice and patient as we placed our orders. Don't be alarmed if you don't see the Ladies Night Menu, you have to ask for it. We ordered a little bit of everything. From the Ladies Night menu: Champagne and the Basil Julep, the Tokyo sushi roll and the Crunchy roll, the fried Cauliflower and the pork dumplings. Nothing was really good or special about the food. The sushi is okay, the pork dumplings were bland. The cauliflower is good, just some pieces are too large for eating. It felt like an American take on Asian cuisine instead of really authentic sushi. Lastly, we decided to try the Shrimp Bao and now this, this was GREAT! Perfect textures, soft bao dough, crispy shrimp, and cabbage! The best thing we had all night. What a terrific place! I really like the small dining room vibe with the cool bar at the end of the room. My girlfriend and I had a pair of really yummy cocktails followed by a truly delicious meal. I ordered the drunken noodles and enjoyed them very much. Our server was absolutely epic! She helped guide us into the entire meal. The only thing holding this back from being a five star review would be my impression of cleanliness. Not that this place is dirty but it's a little "worn" and our table top was a tad bit sticky. I wanted to try Soji for so long, and it did not disappoint. My friend and I came for drinks and sushi around 5pm on a Wednesday. Since both of us are bartenders, we decided to check out the Lotus Lounge. It was modern, clean, and comfortable. The only drawback to sitting in the Lotus Lounge is that happy hour specials don't apply there, so we were the only people there. I didn't mind paying the full price though since our bartender Jamie ended up giving us great service and seriously impressed us with her mixology skills. I started with the Lychee on the Beachee, and my friend got The Floor is Guava. Both were fantastic, and their quality set high expectations for the food. We split three sushi rolls- the Slammin' Salmon, Tempered Tuna, and Rainbow Roll. My favorite was the Slammin' Salmon by far, but all of them were delicious. For dessert, we ordered a slice of lemon pie and their peppermint chocolate dessert cocktail. Although they were out of the ingredients to make the peppermint chocolate cocktail, Jamie offered to make us an improvised bananas foster type of cocktail instead. It was one of the best drinks either of us have had and something I hope they would consider adding to their menu. I'll definitely return to try some of their other dishes! My main dish was the General Tsoji Chicken. The chicken had a very nice flavor but the rice could have used more sauce. Overall the experience was nice. Unfortunately, my least favorite aspect of this restaurant is the parking. During peak hours, parking is very limited. The ladies' room has a gorgeous full length mirror and a neon sign for a vv cute selfie or group photo moment. There are two dining areas and a bar, but I would still likely make a reservation because I still consider the dining space to be intimate. The parking lot is also a bit tiny so if you're meeting a group, try and carpool. I don't know what took me so long to try out Soji, it's just difficult to get there as reservations were always so tight to get. My friend and I made a reservation for two, and she mentioned she had requested a certain area. When we were seated, she said it wasn't exactly where she wanted to sit, but figured the other area may have been blocked off due to changes in seating during this time. Well, it wasn't, and people ended up in that area. First off, pandemic precautions were kind of okay. Staff was masked up and i believe mostly wearing gloves. The place looked clean, and it did look like maybe some tables had been removed from the area, but there was a lady seated about a foot from my friend, and all the booths were filled with at least 5-6 people. Having never been before, it looks like they filled the room to just about regular numbers, else, the room is just usually super tight. We ordered some wine that was okay. I'm not sure the brand, but it was a bit warmer than i wanted. For appetizers, we split the dumplings and the tempura tuna roll. Wow, each one was simply delicious, especially the roll. The tuna was very fresh and just fell apart in your mouth. There was only the lightest tempura in it. For my main dish, i had been steered to the Drunken Noodles many times. The flavor of the dish was plenty - slight kick, perfectly cooked noodles, a bit too much liquid, but hey, if you're going to call them drunken, they'd better be swimming, I guess. The only negative is that the amount of sodium in this dish is excessive. I ate about half the dish and stopped and by the time we left, i could already tell my hands swelled up. I drank so much water all through the night but I think it will just have to naturally go away at this point. Friendly service, good food.
