My favorite part of stores like these are the chocolates. European chocolate beats Hersheys BY FAR! I usually go to Euro stores up in NOVA but I found this place in Yelp and figured I'd check it out. First, I found a fairly large selection of chocolates. I ended up spending $16 in chocolates for Christmas presents. I will tell you, these chocolates look amazing. While checking out, my S.O. wanted to try the burek, the gentleman running the register (owner) told us the spinach was most popular, we of course chose beef. ANYWAYS. I had no idea what to expect, but I had assumed a burek was small and paying $6.50 seemed a little outrageous, but boy was I wrong! When I got home I opened the burek and it was probably 8-10 inches long and weighed over a pound. This was a giant fried pastry with meat and onions stuffed inside. I dip it in ketchup and it really was one of the most amazing foods I've ever tried. The owner was friendly and told me he opened a few months ago. He seems like a genuine nice guy and explained a lot of the foods he had to offer. I love learning about the cuisine of other cultures. Overall, this was a nice experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new in the area. read more

Recently moved to Richmond from Brooklyn, with my wife. Was skeptical about what we might find here food-wise in comparison to back home, where I'd acquired a taste for Bosnian food. My fears, needless to say, were quite misplaced! Bosna Market is a combination restaurant slash grocery store, the grocery section is stocked with hard to find products, and the restaurant.... Awesome. The food is great and priced very nicely. You owe it to yourself to try it if you're in the area and want some European food. read more

Really enjoyed lunch here. Service was friendly and responsive. I had the house specialty, a combo sausage plate with rice and fries, and the portion size was prodigious, especially for the price. The Bosnian coffee was delicious, a traditional concentrated drink that fans of Turkish-style coffee will recognize. I was interested in the Bosnian fare but the menu had a range of options, American and Mediterranean, all for pretty reasonable prices. read more

Phenomenally good food at great prices, and a really friendly restaurateur. I've been here a couple times now, and the food is delicious. I really like the goulash, and the bread that is served with it is delicious. The beef in the goulash is very tender, and it's served on a bed of mashed potatoes. Both times when I've eaten here it's been in the late evening (7pm or so) it has been empty inside, so I hope things pick up so that we can keep this gem of a restaurant in business here in Richmond. read more

Visited here with my best friend for the first time soon after they opened back in early November. We are new to Richmond and looking to try some new European foods. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, explaining the foods very patiently, sensitive to the fact we had never tried "Cevapi", "Sarma" or "Burek". We ordered the smallest Cevapi which we devoured, almost wishing we had ordered a larger one, although it was quite filling - the meat was tender and very flavourful with a lovely garnish of sour cream and some kind of yummy relish that complimented it very well. We also ordered the Sarma (stuffed cabbage leaves filled with ground beef and rice). This was so delicious and surprisingly dynamic with its layers of flavour and sauce. We were very glad we tried it. We enjoyed browsing their plentiful grocery section of European foods- cookies, chocolates, drinks, etc. while we waited for our food, which was not long at all. We tried the "Shokata" Fanta for an extra treat, although we are not huge soda drinkers. We loved the unique taste! It was not overly sweet but had a lovely citrusy flavour unlike any fizzy drinks we'd ever had. Needless to say the whole bottle was gone before long! Definitely recommend Bosna Market for the friendly staff, excellent and authentic food, cleanliness and selection of unique grocery items. Will definitely be back! read more

We found this little hole in the wall gem in a shopping center near our hotel while on our trip to the Richmond area. I thought looking at their fare would be interesting. Well as someone else stated, this is not really a restaurant nor is it a fast food spot. It is a Market that specializes in cultural foods from Bosnia, Hungary etc. They have spices, foods and other items you won't likely find elsewhere. The real hidden gem genre is they offer up a menu of Bosnian food from Cevapi's to Bureks. They have goulashes, steak sandwiches, chicken, wonderful desserts etc. We ate there twice during our seven night stay. We had the "Small" cevapi which is made with their daily made lavash bread, and delicious beef. We also split a piece of spinach Burek. The bureks are made with phyllo dough and stuffed with either spinach, cheese or meat. Fantastic! They also have stuffed cabbage, gyros. Prices were very reasonable and the owner and his brother were two of the nicest people we met during our trip. This was a delicious find. read more

First time here. Stopped for takeout. Already munching on delicious mini bread loaf that came with meal. Rest looks delicious too. Can't wait to get home to eat. Told gentleman who took my order to please add bottled water to my ticket while I waited and he told me it was free. My wife and I are HUGE fans of Bosna's Cevapi, the Pljeskavica with Cheese, and their Chicken Cheesteak. You wouldn't think a chicken cheesteak would be that good at a Bosnian restaurant but my wife thinks its incredible. I think their Pljeskavica with Cheese is pretty close to heaven in your mouth. If I were lucky enough to live closer to this gem, it would be in my regular rotation, as I'd like to try more of its offerings. The menu offers an excellent variety while remaining refreshingly concise. The food was good, though, personally, the Sarma was too salty for my taste. The bread was amazing. It must also be mentioned that the prices are reasonable, the owner(?) is very amiable, and the entire place, including bathrooms, is very clean. Give this place a try! read more

Bosna = Bosnia! Clean, friendly and a great place to pick up Chevap and other Yugoslavian street food! My Suzka and I have been here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed by the food or service. It also doubles as a small market that sells many products found in the former Yugoslav countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia). Updating from my previous review: we have recently used their catering service and continue to love them! I didn't know about this place until I saw a program on local TV about refugee families in Henrico a few months ago. This restaurant is owned by one such family and it's truly a pleasure to see Henrico become such a diverse an interesting place. The food is so delicious - the thing about Bosnian food is that it's the perfect mix of European and Turkish flavors. The bread is so deliciously soft, and the quality of the ingredients is superb. As I said above, we have used their catering services for a party. Our friends were so impressed! The flavor and the presentation of the food was simply perfect. We did not plan well and the owner was so helpful and flexible (we placed a fairly large catering order with less than a day's notice). The minimarket portion continues to grow! Lots of very interesting candy, soups and other staples. They have Milka, Kinder, Balkan candy brands and now also Turkish candy. They also have a refrigerated section with interesting selection of cheese and meat products, as well as kefir and clotted cream. Most importantly, the service is excellent. The family who run this restaurant are genuinely kind-hearted and helpful. I feel like I really need to make the point that they are truly good people. When you go, look at the sign on the door. Wow. Just wow. The ridiculously high rating on yelp, google, and otherwise is no fluke. Not only is this food delicious, hearty, and wholesome, but you can feel good supporting this business. Their sign out front mentions that if you cannot afford to pay for your meal, you can pay later or not pay at all. Who else does that nowadays? Owner and his family are all really nice. Nothing on their menu tastes bad. It's hard to even rank the menu best to worst because it's all so good, but top spot definitely goes to the goulash. The goulash is out of this world. I keep trying to get the recipe but he says it's his secret ;) Best part is, you can do grocery shopping before or after your meal and put it all on the same tab. Excellent! No other word for it! We had sarma and burek - neither of which I'd tried before - both were well cooked and crammed with flavor. If you like to try different foods from overseas this is a great place to go. Everything is spotless - the owner is very helpful and exceptionally friendly. Just a quick update to make this current. We still stop here regularly and they have been as consistently delicious as any restaurant could be. Their cevape and burek are not to be missed! Make sure to try the Fanta Shockata soda pop with your meal, it's light and citrusy like Sprite plus Squirt without the bitterness or syrupy sweetness. It's PERFECT with this food! Service and facilities are clean and comfortable however limited dine in services should be considered if you're with a group. The staff and owners are very friendly and warm folks, they'll be happy talking to you about the food if you have questions on your visit. read more

Bosna is a hidden gem in a shopping center that will soon open a full restaurant. We came here under the recommendation of a co-worker who delights in the flavor of Home for him. This is well worth the culinary experience. Please allow the home like feel to the environment take you back to a simpler time when the food and people are the experience and not flashy surroundings. Cheap, fresh, delicious, and so much food for the $! I had Pljeskavica ( pronounced PLYESS-ka-vee-tsa, which is like a Bosnian hamburger on lepinja (kinda like puffy pita) bread with sour cream, ajvar (eggplant and red pepper condiment) and onions on the side). I think it cost me 7 or 8 bucks and was a HUGE portion. I was full all day. Food was definitely cooked to order and came out nice and hot. Seemed like a father and son operation. Service was very friendly. They also have a small Balkan and Eastern-Euro grocery section. I picked up some yummy Eurocrem Serbian wafer cookies for later (filled with hazelnut chocolate cream like Nutella). I will definitely be back! read more

This is a one of a kind place. The food is home cooked and delicious. The cevapi (home made sausages) are my favorite. They are served in a pita type bread (lepinja) that is very soft and chewy. I usually don't care for bread but this lepinja is not like any bread that I have had. The place is very clean and he has various groceries from the Balkins. It is unfortunate that Richmonders are not that adventurous when it comes to trying different food. They think that that eating Pad Thai in a Thai restaurant is wild and crazy. read more
