Oh my goodness! So glad we stopped in. The hospitality is top-notch and food was delicious, with a unpretentious atmosphere. 100% recommend for a fantastic ready-to-eat meal.

It's so good I have been here two days in a row and will go by again today for lunch. Yes, I have been impressed with this BBq restaurant. My first visit was about a year ago. At that time, I got a bbq rib plate with 2 sides. I got it again yesterday. Monday, I got the bbq pork plate with 2 sides which I will get again today. It's generous portion that they give you. In fact, it's enough to eat for lunch and then again for dinner which is exactly what I am going to do today. It's n Scene: The best side that I like here is the sweet potatoes with marshmallows. I always get that as it is delicious. I also like their black eyed peas and potatoes. Menu items ordered yesterday: BBQ ribs with extra bbq sauce, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, tomato potatoes along with some homemade hush puppies they always give you.

The 3 meals

No prices are posted so buyer beware. The dark chicken quarters were very small...charged us for 2 slabs of ribs when we only got one. 3 entree's ...5 sides...water to drink $43+. Food was good but we can't go back at those prices. You're eating out of styrofoam with plastic forks. AND the girl checking out was handed the phone and then she had to bill our order again...ya don't take calls while taking care of a customer.

They have a drive-thru! :) you can also order inside. I came craving fish (lol( on a Wednesday around dinner time, 6:30 pm. There was about 5 people in front of me, and we kept a little distance between us all. The line doesn't move fast, but I guess that's partly due to the people in front of me not knowing what they wanted to order. I ordered the fried trout tray, which is $10.99 ($11.74 after taxes). They had a special for a two-piece trout plate, so ask about that (I can't remember how much it was :/). The tray comes with two sides of choice and hush puppies. I ordered greens and slaw. The trout is cooked fresh, so there's always a short wait for fried fish. The piece of fish is really big, and the serving size is a little more than you can/should eat in one sitting, but don't we all love leftovers? The slaw is kept in a display case with the potato salad and cake, so it wasn't as cold as I would have liked, but it was very good. The collards were very very good! Tastes like someone's aunt Shirley made them! I was served 5 hush puppies and they were greasy and yummmmy!! I trout was also perfect (but my grandma said her piece had a few scales on them but good otherwise. I would give my tray 2 thumbs up and 5 stars. But the true standout star was the carrot cake. I was worried that it wouldn't measure up after a excellent meal, but it was a perfect follow up. The slice of cake was around $4 for about an average size.

Avoid! This place is a blight on BBQ. Keep driving. It was tough to decide which was worse the hospitality or the food.

Even so, I enjoyed a tasty plate of collards right here at the beginning of July on Friday. I did doctor them up with a generous application of Texas Pete...vinegar + heat. Makes perfect sense if you like it spicy! The plate also had potato salad and ham, with 2 expertly made 1/2 & 1/2 iced teas. If you like collards and you like potato salad and you like ham...then get your rear in gear on some Friday and order up a plate of southern soul food at its best! Did I mention the hush puppies? No? It's cause I ate them all! Don't even need butter! I'm no fan of the corn sticks tho, but I don't like those from anywhere. Can't wait for the first frost later this year! King Chicken offers down home old school friendly no frills service, and while it's not an eat-in restaurant, I don't mind snagging a plate and heading back to the house to give thanks and partake.

The young lady that placed our order was not friendly. Period. Borderline rude and made it pretty clear she didn't want to be at work. Onto the food - the fried chicken was good, the corn nuggets very yummy. Didn't care for the potato salad. The yellow cake with chocolate frosting was average, didn't finish it. Not sure we'd eat here again.

How hard is it to mess up a hot dog? Well apparently at…read moreBill's Hot Dog Stand, it's fairly easy. Me and my dad were stopping in Washington, NC, to grab a hot dog before arriving at Goose Creek State Park to camp over the weekend. We heard about Bill's Hot Dog Stand on North Carolina Weekend PBS, but that was 100% outdated. This place just down right sucks. Walking in there was a line in the small establishment shaped like a horseshoe, so we believed it to be good. People were also ordering about 20 of them. How? I don't know. The 3 women behind the counter were rude. 1 was going painfully slow at taking hot dogs out of the boiler, the 2nd had an attitude about putting some chili (slop), mustard, and onions on a hot dog, and the 3rd practically was yelling in everyone's face at the register. When it was finally our turn, my dad ordered a hot dog with chili and mustard, and the individual said "So no onions?" Lady, they're the same thing. The chili was discolored (brown) and was practically paste. I don't know how you call that chili. When we ate our hot dogs, they were just downright gross. They both had a weird taste, and the chili was overly spicy and just gross tasting. The tea was so overpoweringly sweet (and I like SWEET tea), and customer service was just horrible. Do not come here. Just don't do it. Want a GOOD hot dog? Head to Hap's in Salisbury.
