I stayed in Keystone for two nights (Mt. Rushmore) and this wonderful restaurant was where I ate twice. Great food, good beer and sweet staff--I really don't get some of the complaints. It's a small town with tons to do and the food selection isn't what the coastal folks may be used to, but considering that, it was a very nice oasis in my opinion. Restaurant is closed for remodeling. Should say "closed temporarily." Yelp still has ordering online function. I ordered, waited an hour for confirmation. Went to restaurant and it was taped off. Hope I can get my money back. Grub hub says I can get my money back because I waited 48 hours to notify. Charge didn't show up on card until after 48 hours. after touring mount rushmore, i wanted to get dinner and when i came to the downtown area of keystone i believe this was the only place open. I guess that's a plus for staying late. We were able to find parking in front as it was getting late and getting seated was not a problem. I found it also interesting there was a window to order food to go? I ended up getting the philly cheesesteak pasta and some buffalo wings. Both were good. The buffalo wings was a nice mix of drumsticks and wings and the buffalo sauce was great on it. I didn't know what type of pasta to order, so i asked the waitress which was the most popular. Couple of hours ago, we went to Mount Rushmore and tried finding a place to eat. We found this pizza place with a nice inviting facade. There were three groups waiting, but we were seated in less than 10 minutes. The boss Chris was the one who bussed the 3 tables and made sure we all were not waiting for a long period of time. Chris also took our orders. The food he recommendation was very delicious. We didn't have a chance to eat the pizza and as we became so full, thus took it to the hotel instead. Jason was also our server. Upon reading the sign outside, we realized he was the general manager too. He was an excellent employee. He was very visible to his customers, making sure everyone is ok. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Rushmore when a person approached us, looking for food to eat. It was late at night. We ended-up giving him the whole box of pizza. Didn't have a chance to try the pizza. But, the Lord used us to feed another person tonight. He was very grateful. I highly recommend this place. Service was incredibly slow. The waitress forgot to bring silverware when she brought half of the food. I had to go and ask for it. One of the meals didn't have all that was ordered. My kids were done with their meals before I saw mine. When my meal came it wasn't right. I had them remove it from the bill. The wait staff is pleasant but I would not eat here again. We ordered Chislic and a pizza, just before closing. This is as good as it gets in Keystone. The Chislic was good, the loaded pizza was OK and we took cold remains to the Buffalo Round Up the next morning and it kept us going. Our normal Margarita pizza just is not on the menu in South Dakota and as our server said "I have only been asked for that 3 times in 5 years" We adapted quickly. We came here after a long day of driving and hiking in the area, definitely craving pizza. We ordered a large pizza. Half Chicken Queso Crunch and Half Buffalo Chicken. It's not exactly thin crust pizza, but it's a little flimsy. I love that they do half and half with different pizzas. The Chicken Queso Crunch was recommended by the host and it was like eating taco on a pizza. Super good. Honestly, the strangest part was that they cut the pizza into 16 pieces like it wasn't round so the middle ones were kind of soggy squares and others were strange shapes, instead of just the traditional triangle slice. read more

Out here visiting the sites. Wanted to try the pizza. The ordering over the phone was simple and friendly. We ordered the pulled pork pizza. I do have to say I was slightly disappointed when it was chunks of pork just sparsely placed. Hoping for pulled pork and filling the pizza. The crust is premade so nothing special. I liked the bbq sauce that went well. I ordered a side of wings. Didn't come with ranch. Had the honey garlic sauce but it was mostly flavored of honey. Chicken was a little dry. Walking through this tiny town in Keystone, we came across Boss' pizza and chicken. The chicken wings were nice and crispy and right amount of sauce. The pizza was ok, it was thin crust and a bit doughy as if it wasn't cooked all the way. They had some specialty pizzas like mac and cheese or cheeseburger, but we weren't that adventurous. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised to find out this was a local chain. It sounded good on our road trip so we stopped. The food was plentiful and the prices were fair. Plus you could refill your drink as often as necessary. My biggest complaint and the reason for 4 stars were the booth seats. I found them at an uncomfortable angle and having a bad back causes some issues. It wasn't too loud and seemed ok for kids as well. The pizza was undercooked and when we cut open the dough and got a look at it, it wasn't great. It tasted pretty bland and the prices are normal for a pizza place (I'm assuming because I'm from Texas and everything is cheaper there) except they skimp a lot on the ingredients. My brother got the pasta which he said was good for the average American but since we're Italian, it wasn't great either. The garlic bread was pretty good though. You need to know the whole town drips with touristy. Most of the restaurants had catchy names or signs to draw in the crowds. I get it. But, could we have some good food? We ordered the Founding Father pizza and a chicken sub. The sub looked good and my daughter said it was. The pizza? Well, it was mediocre, at best. The sauce carries a hint of spicy and has a good tomato flavor. The pizza, as a whole, resembles a moderately priced frozen pizza since no particular taste stood out. Just not a "wow" flavor. While we were visiting the Black Hills area I had a craving for pizza and found this place while we were walking around on Main Street in Keystone. I wish I would have kept on walking. The menu was a good variety with dozens of different pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, chicken etc. but maybe this is one time when they should try to do just 1 thing and do it really well. It was very hot and stuffy in the restaurant and it wasn't even super hot today. We started with garlic cheese bread and I had a side salad. Everything we ate tonight was pre made. The garlic bread was the kind I can buy in a box at the grocery store. My husband ordered a cheese pizza and my daughter and I split a Parmesan chicken pizza. The crusts are pre made and not good at all. The side salad was some shredded iceberg lettuce with chopped tomatoes and it was $6. Pleasantly surprised! You wouldn't know it by looking at it, but this place has some seriously good fried chicken. The interior is kinda dingy and it took quite a while to receive our food but it was worth the wait. We ordered two 4 piece meals with extra potato wedges and two breasts. All of the chicken including the white meat was super juicy. The breading while not very thick was well seasoned and crispy. In the middle of tourist trap after tourist trap this place was a great find. I'd definitely go here again. read more

Stopped in today (6-26) while in Keystone for a bite - I ordered a Ruben Burger and Totes - my wife ordered a Chicken Cheese Steak sandwich and fries. see attached photo / on a scale of 1-10 it was a minus 6. My wife went to the counter to complain about the quality of the sandwich and was treated as rude as possible and was told that it just must be her because no one complaints about this sandwich. Ate here once before and decided to give a second look. Two words rip off. I just received my three-piece chicken dinner. I've seen bigger legs on pigeons. I counted the number of bites involved in eating my chicken tonight. Two bites for the leg 2 1/2 for the piece of white meat they sent, and around one bite for the one tiny little wing they sent. For nearly $20. I live locally work locally and have the opportunity to send hundreds of people a week to various restaurants in Keystone. I will no longer send any of my guests to this establishment. I've ran restaurants in tourist towns, and there's two schools of thought. Give them a quality product for a decent price or charge a high price, make your money and not care what you give your guest. Unfortunately, I think there are the latter. read more

We waited almost an hour while several groups of people that order after us got all their food. All we order was 2 pieces of fried chicken with wedges and a salad. We were first told that it was because they have new cooks then told it takes a awhile to make the chicken? But we were told would be 15-20min when we ordered ?? Not an hour? Not many restaurants in the Keystone area after seeing Mount Rushmore. We were told by the locals that the pizza at another restaurant was better than Boss, but we decided to give it a try. When we went in the place had four tables with people and a couple of tables with dirty dishes. Service was better than the food. Looked as though they were short on help. Ordered the Parmesan bread, Clutch Cluck and a BBQ chicken pizza. My husband said the sandwich was good, pizza was ok and the chicken sandwich even though wasn't ordered as spicy was very spicy! The pizza crust is a prefab thin cracker style, with a midwestern square cut...best summed up as bar pizza. Toppings were lacking in a major way and the mozz was very oily. Sauce was okay but had no distinctive flavor. Our waitress was wonderful from start to finish....couldn't have been better.
