I love this little cafe located right in Downtown Crossing! It's located at the back of Franklin Street (behind 77 Franklin) with doors on the side (Arch) and the alley. Tucked away this is a hidden treasure! Hot breakfast served until 11am. Lunch served all day. Order sandwiches or soup, or make your own salad. Choose from salad toppings like walnuts and cranberries, feta and shaved Parmesan, fresh veggies, tuna salad and chicken salad, etc... basic but with a nice flare! Popular in my office (we run down for lunch often) are chicken pesto sandwich and hummus veggie wrap. They also do catering. Order online. Delivery available of course. The ladies that work here and the family that runs the place are super friendly. You can pick up and go or there's counters along the windows in one corner of the place to sit and eat (approx 10 chairs). I walked by here a couple times and today I decided I should give it a try since I did not bring lunch to work My first impression was how clean the place is. The place is spacious ( there's no seats indoors to eat). The sell breakfast, sandwiches & wraps. They also have snacks like chips, fruits, candy etc. I ordered a Tuna Melt sandwich without the bacon and it was really really good! They toasted the sandwich which made the sandwich that much better. The ladies there are very kind, easy to deal with. Very quick service no lines at the time I went (2pm) I will definitely be returning whenever I don't bring lunch to work or whenever i'm in the mood for a good sandwich. read more

The staff is always so nice! This is my go to spot for lunch and the food is consistently great!

The big selling point for Boston News Cafe is that they sell Boar's Head, and the sandwiches that incorporate Boar's Head are great. But unfortunately, either the meat sits out for too long, or a lot of the other sandwiches don't use Boar's Head... regardless of the sticker they slap on the packaging. I've had their Chipotle Chicken sandwich twice, as it's one of their specialties. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with it both times. While the sauce was creamy, spicy, and flavorful, the chicken was dry and dull. The food comes out relatively slowly depending on what you order. I was found the layout and operation a little annoying and off-putting. There isn't any sort of semblance of a line... it's more of a crowd of people where there's some general understanding of who's been waiting longer. There's no apparent flow... you order somewhere along the long display case, then pay at an arbitrary cashier station on the other side of the store. There's no signage or lines to help you out, they just sort of assume you know what to do. The confusion is compounded by another problem: since there is no line or organization, people who have already ordered will stand around waiting in the same spot they ordered in. So when you walk in during the lunch rush, it's impossible to tell who has ordered, if it's your turn, and how to navigate through the chaos. Their business would be significantly improved by simple putting up a divider in front of the display case. This would create an organized line, people entering on one end, ordering their food, getting their food, then paying at the other. All in all, it's not a bad place. The sandwiches are decent ("A-OK", as a Yelp 3-star review will say), and it looks very clean. I come here every now and then for lunch, but never *ever* after 11:45AM. The earlier you get here, the more chance you'll avoid the hectic lunch rush. read more

Wow, I walk by this place all the time and finally said "I should give this a try" I ordered a Turkey Club on toasted ciabatta and a cappuccino. Well it was one of the best I have ever eaten. Hot and with a surprise added bonus of roasted red peppers. I haven't tried the State Street location but if same group is training them then I'm sure it's a home run. Also, cappuccino was spot on. This is one of my new favorite lunch spots. I have been a couple times now and gotten wraps both times. The Mediterranean chicken wrap is very tasty. The chicken in both wraps that I have had so far was cooked perfectly. The veggies and wraps themselves are so fresh and tasty. I had the cranberry walnut chicken salad wrap today. This place is great! They serve fresh cold cuts, they are super clean and very friendly. A GREAT new addition to the Financial District for breakfast and lunch since the choices can get old quick and there's very little in the way of getting a good bagel for breakfast anymore or a sandwich made w/ Boar's Head fresh cold cuts. I would very highly recommend this gem. It's tucked away between Arch Street and perfect for anyone that gets off the T through the Arch Street building. Definitely worth checking out! This was my first time at this store and I ended up getting the tuna melt. The sandwiches are basically all $8-9 which is on par with anything you'd find downtown. This place is really clean and does have some nice counter seating which is great for a quick bite. Didn't really gamble much with the tuna melt and it came through. Nice solid sandwich. Little touches like balsamic vinaigrette in the tuna wraps take their sandwiches from good to amazing. The ladies who make the sandwiches are very friendly but I am taking a star off for the older man who used to run the cash register and who now heads the express shop next door. He owed me a dollar in change and he basically forced me to buy a lotto ticket when I did not want to. We literally stood there for a minute or two debating the lotto ticket issue and I finally caved because I had to get to work and realized that he was not giving me my dollar back. If you are reading this, please stop forcing people to buy lotto tickets with their extra change. It's very bad for your reputation. read more

These guys are awesome! This place is crazy convenient for me; that's why I first tried it. They have a great quick lunch, and even better they have some of the world's nicest people running this place. They will make you absolutely anything you want. They have some really yummy baklava. They have an all around great variety of sandwiches, salads, healthy snacks and addictive junk food. They seem to understand that every minute is important to their clientele, and they are as quick as possible with everything they do. If anything interferes with their amazing efficiency, they are proactive about making things right. I think it also might have the best prices in the area (by "the area," I mean the 5 minute walking radius around my office, but there are a lot of lunch places in there). read more

One of my go-to spots for lunch in the Financial District. Everyone in my office calls it "the Alley" because it's in the alley between Arch Street and Devonshire. The staff is super friendly and everything is very clean. My usual sandwich is the chipotle chicken on a whole wheat wrap but they have lot of other options or you can create your own sandwich or wrap. They are VERY accommodating. read more

Terrific spot for sandwiches to go. Great portions, selection and flexibility. I'm not big on wrap bread, but they were perfectly happy to make my wrap-menu sandwich on whole grain bread.
