Great experience that I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone…read more I'm a complete idiot when it comes to flowers but Nina was more than accommodating with my ignorance. On Monday, I spent some time looking on their website to order some flowers for Friday but I was getting nowhere. So I finally decided to give up and give them a call. Nina was patient and friendly explaining what flower combinations are preferred and what's not. But there was only so much that could be explained in words over the phone. So I stopped by during my lunch break. They were very busy. There was a elderly lady in the front and another lady in the back making arrangements and there was a lot of arrangements being made. I didn't know if I could get my questions answered in time but since I was there already, I decided to wait and ask. The older lady who's name was Joanne heard my question and showed me the ready arrangements in the cooler that I could pick out and take with me immediately. When I told her it's for Friday and wanted a custom arrangement but wanted some recommendations, she deferred me to the lady making the arrangements who turned out to be Nina. I felt a bit guilty because she seemed so busy making arrangements and I was only asking questions but Nina was very friendly and accommodating. She explained my options as far as having my arrangements wrapped or placed in a vase. I could ask for any color combination I wanted (within reason and pending availability) and any flower choice preference. If I didn't have any flower or color preference, I was given the option to set a budget and trust the florist. I thanked her for her time and went back to work. After thinking it over, I called Nina back after work. I asked her for pink and peonies because that's my wife's favorite flower. I didn't know what else to ask for so I gave her a budget and request a wrap in pink and silver color. Apparently, peonies are not that readily available and I was a bit confused because I've picked up peonies from Trader Joe's before and they didn't seem that rare. But I had already placed my order so I went with it. Friday came and when I went to pick up my bouquet after work, I was completely blown away with how big it was. She showed me the flowers and the peonies in my arrangement was so much more vibrant and at least twice as big as the ones I've picked up from Trader Joe's. Maybe there's different types of peonies but I'll never buy the ones from Trader Joe's again. What a difference. The colors were exactly what I asked for down to the wrap. It was so big I didn't know how/where to place it on my car and Nina was kind enough to send one of her staff to secure it for me in my vehicle. Great experience from star up finish. It was money well spent and worth ever penny. I'll definitely do it again. My wife absolutely loved them, more than any other flowers I've bought for her, and we even had to get a larger vase to fit the bouquet.

The flowers are great! That's about the only positive thing I can offer. The staff are so…read moreridiculously rude that it feels like the flowers serve as a pittance for the trauma from enduring their abuse. I've literally been treated more warmly by the police giving me a traffic citation. Each time I've been here (a total of 3 times) i have been addressed not with indifference, but scathing condescension and disdain by both (I'm assuming Nina herself) and her aunt. Forget being treated professionally--being treated with NEUTRALITY is wildly aspirational here. It is the type of contempt typically reserved for tax collectors and dinner party guests carrying active tuberculosis. I stopped by in person to inquire about ordering flowers for Mother's Day about 10 days in advance, just to ask some basic questions. After demonstrating the audacity to inquire about baskets and differences between tiers, I was met with audible sighs and eye rolls that escalated into beratement of my ignorance. The level of unprompted venom was astonishing! Despite my unforgivable transgression of inquiring about the basket diameter of the "Country Blooms" arrangement, I hung my head and meekly submitted my order. I called a couple days later to change the time of my pickup and was immediately screamed at, with the level of hostility normally demonstrated during international war: (verbatim) "do you KNOW how many customers we have? We have HUNDREDS! You're just going to have to wait in the pickup line!" I was completely stunned by this. Okay, congrats. Nina did not consider the radical alternative of asking my last name to clarify my order. This defies reason. It genuinely feels like Nina's Flowers is trying to repel new customers. Unless you enjoy being chastised like a cowering servant in a Brontë novel, I highly recommend you spare your dignity (and money) and go literally anywhere else. EDIT: Angel's Flowers in Newark is selling the same products on their website for like half the price.

Marlowes once had a reputation of having high quality flowers which came with higher prices. I've…read morenever had an issue paying a bit more when I felt the quality was there....and I can honestly say that I know flowers having been involved in the flower business for over 20+ years. However, recently I felt that the quality of the flowers and as others have mentioned the service of the staff have declined. I purchase flowers from Marlowes about 8 times a year for various occasions such as birthdays and holidays. The customer service is a bit spotty, sometimes wonderful and other times customers are treated with indifference or else the staff is not knowledgeable about the products. After today's experience at the store I have decided to purchase flowers elsewhere. I went in there to get some flowers for my Mom....the selection consisted of mainly Ecuadorian roses and a few smaller arrangements. I inquired about an arrangement that consisted of 6 red roses, 8 carnations, 3 purple gladiolas and tons of green filler. Me: "How much is that arrangement?" Clerk: "$150" (A bit much for what I was getting I must admit.) Me: "I would like to take it, but that one of the purple gladiolas is very bruised and I would like it replaced." Clerk: "That is the last of what we have." (Then continues to chat with he friend on the phone.) Me: "So basically you're saying 'take it or leave it?' " Clerk: "Yes" Me: "Alright" as I exit the store. I didn't feel like paying for mediocre quality flowers when I already knew they were charging a premium. I drove for about half a mile and came upon a smaller flower shop in the Milpitas Town Center and stopped in greeted by a smiling clerk asked if she could help me. I ended up getting a huge and beautiful flower arrangement with Ecuadoran roses, star gazers, orchids, wax flowers, snap dragons, tulips and greenery...for $150. Yes, same price with at least 3x as much flowers.

I've used Marlowe's for literally years to send flowers to local family members for birthdays,…read morebefore weddings, or just to tell my husband I love him. Have always called in and been treated courteously and kindly. I usually state a dollar amount to spend , provide the recipients' favorite flower and colors types and turn them loose to create something special. Their arrangements make the standard FTD offerings look pretty poor by comparison. Without exception, they have always delivered lovely fresh flowers and creative arrangements. The one time that I'd sent an arrangement and the flowers wilted within a couple of days, I called to ask about it and they immediately replaced it with a larger version of the original at no added cost. They are currently sharing space with a flower shop up in Fremont. If you go to their location, you must ask specifically for the Marlowe's folks.
