We first saw Botanico about 10 months ago after eating at STIX Asia downstairs. Based on the sign outside we thought it was a skin care company but after turning the corner, we saw that it was a restaurant. We had a date night here this weekend. We made reservations on open table easily and found parking at the Waikiki shopping plaza which we were already familiar with. After our 2 hour meal, we found that we didn't have to pay for parking. That's a GREAT deal in Waikiki! I'm in a wheelchair and found the ramp outside and around the restaurant where big island burgers was. When we got to the top of the ramp, we found a stantion blocking the entrance I feel they should have opened it prior to our arrival since I noted I was in a wheelchair in my reservation. I had to call the restaurant to open it. That was fine and the worker, I believe her name was Ai, was so kind and told us they had a table for us but it was in a narrow area. So we waited for a minute and she sat us in a more comfortable area. The menu, I have to say, is a little confusing. The prefixe menu $80/pp"menu pregustazione" has a antipasto, appetizer listed then primi course which I presume is the main course and a "secondi" course but has a price tag for each item. Then desserts have 3 items listed. Does that mean everyone shares 3 desserts? Then coffee or tea We asked our waitress for recommendations. She recommended the Terra e mare antipasto misto to share between the both of us (which we ordered) and the red snapper aqua pazza. We passed on the aqua pazza because my dad is a fisherman and we eat red snapper often. The pupu was great: Seafood ceviche, bruschetta with tako escargot(I think), focaccia, calamari, prosciutto, calamari, and shrimp covered in katafi. It was such a great introduction to the restaurant. I also had the oasis cooler to drink, a delicious zero proof drink with soda, pineapple & coconut cream. Such a delight! Hubby had the grape garden cooler with aloe liquor, white grape puree, elderflower liquor, lime & mint. He works for a liquor company and preferred my drink. We shared our entrees: vongole bianco and pescatore spaghetti. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The pescatore spaghetti came with shrimp, mussels, clams & scallops. We could taste the seafood in the spaghetti. Delicious! There was a little bit of sand in one of my clams in the vongole. Nothing to complain about, but something that could be avoided by cleaning them properly. Prior to ordering we asked the waitress " you know local braddah, he like know which dish has the most". Then she nodded. So we knew she wasn't local HOWEVER after reading some reviews (after dining there) , we saw they offer kamaaina discount. We were not offered that. We ordered the Sicilian cheesecake which was light and delicious. It had a crème brûlée top. Yum! We also ordered the tiramisu which was light and airy For the heftier crowd , the portions will not satisfy you. It would be nice if the restaurant offered extra noodles for a fee. Next time I'd like to try their moussaka because that's hard to find here. I think it's Japan National owned. You can taste the strive for excellence. I had to ask for a water refill which, in my books, tells me how good service is. So that needs improvement. My server was nice but not outstanding. Overall a nice experience for a date night. Was served diet cokes (coke zero), which tasted absolutely disgusting and rotten. I'm not sure if American coke zero has a different taste than the one where we're from (giving it the benefit of the doubt), but it was undrinkable. When the bartender (not our waitress) came with another drink, we explained that all the drinks had something off about them. He was not understanding, telling us, "well we've been serving it all night and nobody else has a problem with it." Leaving the drinks behind and walking away. Our waitress was however very understanding and offered to re-pour or get us something different. Our waitress forgot to put in our order, it happens. No problem at all. She was still amazing, honest, very apologetic. The manager however threw the waitress under the bus behind her back, bad mouthed her, told us she does it all the time. It took nearly 1.5 hours to get our food. Manager would barely provide us compensation. Giving us a very measly discount on some meals, bread not included. So glad we finally got to check out Botanico! Parking is validated at Waikiki Shopping Plaza and the restaurant is on street level. There's limited outdoor seating, an amazing bar and the dining room. Loved the ambiance here! It was still casual but elevated. Service was spot on and we never felt like we were waiting too long for anything. For the food, I'd recommend the Caesar salad, clam spaghetti and pizza! Everything was good but probably could've done without the scallop appetizer and octopus escargot. Also, just ask them for kid options as there's no menu but they have a few items do select from. The world food tour duo resumed their search for exceptional cuisine ... This time at Botanico Waikiki, in the Waikiki Shopping Plaza. The restaurant is located on Seaside Avenue, just past the stairway to the food court one floor below. It's an intimate space on two levels, the main level is dominated by the bar, where one can dine. There are some tables to the left of the bar, but the main dining space is a few steps down to the right of the entrance. There are tables for two on the left, tables for three in the middle, and tables for four on the right. I ordered a Pio Cesare Barolo but they didn't have it so I agreed to a 2022 Oddero Barolo as a substitute for the same price ($180). Unfortunately, the substitute wasn't as good as the Pio Cesare that I'm familiar with ... It was light, and a bit too acidic. However, it paired well with our food. We started with the Radicchio Citrus Salad ($19). It featured feta cheese, beet and cranberry puree, caramelized nuts, slices of apple, and orange zest / brown dressing. I would have been happy with this dish with a grilled breast of chicken. Our next appetizer was interesting to say the least. Lava Funghi & Salsiccia ($17) ... I thought we ordered a piece of lava. It was the cap of a portobello, stuffed with Italian sausage in what was supposed to be arrabbiata sauce. The latter is one of my favorite sauces over pasta ... This one was a poor second cousin. This dish reminded me of the black pancakes at Basalt ... Not my cup of tea. Our entrees were the Braised Beef Cheek ($48) and the Red Snapper Acqua Pazza ($55). The beef cheeks dish came with halves of brussels sprouts, but the dish was very dark in coloration. It tasted fine. My "fish stew" featured clams, mussels, shrimp, and a nice piece of snapper. It was flavorful and I wished I had saved my bread for this dish. We ended our meal with Tiramisu ($11) for the better half and an Americano (5.50) for me. The Tiramisu lacked the lady fingers needed to give the dessert body. Service from Reina was fine ... the atmosphere was fine ... the food, with one exception, was fine. I celebrated my birthday dinner and it was great! Its located in the Waikiki Shopping Plaza right along the perimeter. You can park in the buildings parking structured and they validate. The service was very fast despite it being a little busy. The server was funny and basically said everything on the menu was amazing so we tried a bunch of items. We started with a few appetizers: Octopus Escargot Style - the octopus was tender, but the little pastry on top was unnecessary and was not as flaky as I was expecting it to be. Calamari with truffle aioli - house made, delicious and crispy. I wish there was more. Mentaiko Potato Salad - definitely would skip. I couldn't really taste the mentaiko Scallops - very tasty and my favorite appetizer. I wish they served more of it! For the entrees: Crab Pasta - generous amount of crab! Great menu selection. Lots of options. Got the White Wine Steamed Mussels $20. The mussels and sauce were delicious. I didn't understand the French fires with served with it. I thought bread would've been better with it to soak up the sauce. Your meal does come work free complementary bread that you could use. Got Vongole Bianco as my main dish. Very good. Spaghetti cooked perfectly. Thought it wasn't going to be enough food by it was perfect. The Braised Beef Cheek was good but the portion size was on the smaller size. Oh my goodness--I am so glad we tried Botanico. We went for happy hour, and by the end of the night, every single one of us agreed: we're absolutely coming back. This place first caught my eye while walking through Waikīkī--the interior and exterior are both so charming and thoughtfully designed. It has that effortlessly cute, inviting feel. I also love that there's a lanai, so you can bring your furry friend, which makes it feel even more special. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, checking in throughout the night without ever feeling overbearing--just the right balance. For drinks, we tried the red and white sangria and the Ulu Ulu. Everything was delicious. The sangrias were perfectly balanced--not overly sweet--and we all preferred the red. The Ulu Ulu was light, refreshing, and super easy to sip (I'd definitely swap the vodka for tequila again). Next time, I already have my eye on the limoncello spritz. We ordered entirely from the happy hour menu, and it did not disappoint. The truffle fries were so good--honestly delicious with or without the truffle. The focaccia with ricotta was also great; the bread leaned more toward a sourdough texture, and while the ricotta could have used a touch more salt, it was still very enjoyable. The chicken liver mousse ended up being a total sleeper hit. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was light, smooth, and incredibly flavorful--you'd never guess it was chicken liver. We also tried the quattro formaggi pizza with local honey, which was such a fun combination. The honey was especially memorable--so fruity and flavorful, it really elevated the dish. The prosciutto zeppole wasn't everyone's favorite--the seaweed element threw a few of us off--but the texture itself was beautifully light and airy. And the star of the night: the moussaka. Wow. Perfectly cooked, rich without being heavy, and the béchamel was absolutely incredible. I genuinely wish we had ordered more--I would come back for this alone. Came in here for the Happy Hour and was pleasantly surprised. I love the interior design of this restaurant. I will say sometimes the downstairs food court can bring up a smell so we decided to sit at the bar instead of by the window (not their fault) but if you're sensitive to smells it can affect you some what. Pricing is pretty good for drinks & food. Also found out they will be updating their menu within a week or two so it's worth to check it out again. I think we've found a new favorite restaurant! The five of us just loved everything about our meal last night. I had the beet and cauliflower hummus appetizer (refreshing, tasty, just lovely), Vongole (clam) pasta with broccoli and garlic white wine sauce (I love clam pasta, and there's is one of the best - the pasta tasted freshly made, so soft), limoncello spritz (refreshing, nice balance to my meal) and some of the Basque cheesecake (so good, wonderfully subtly sweet - loved it). My friends got seafood pasta, carbonara, and tagliata (rare beef with greens) - everything looked so good and we were all happily impressed. Botanico is such a vibe. The ambiance alone makes you want to linger -- gorgeous decor, warm lighting, and that dreamy Mediterranean energy. The food absolutely delivers too. Fresh, perfectly cooked pasta, beautiful seafood, and flavors that feel bright and balanced. The Ocean Grill Plate was a standout, and the beet + cauliflower hummus was so good we were scraping the plate. Sangria? Dangerous in the best way. We went there for happy hour (2-6 pm at the bar or lanai), and it was already pretty busy. There was only one bartender working while the rest of the staff seemed occupied elsewhere in the restaurant, so we ended up waiting a while for menus, drinks, and even the check at the end. They also messed up my check by charging my friend's order to my credit card, but thankfully it was voided right away--whew! The pricing was reasonable, especially the $6 house wine, which was surprisingly good. For food, I ordered the Caramelized Chicken Liver Mousse and the Prosciutto Zeppole. The liver mousse tasted good, but it was a bit too fluffy and heavy for my liking. The zeppole, unfortunately, was bland and greasy. I did enjoy the Funghi & Pancetta Pinsa that my friend ordered--it had a flavorful tomato sauce and was the standout dish for me. She also tried the Prosecco Flight, which was fun in concept, but having three glasses of bubbles served all at once felt like too much too soon, especially since they started to warm up. Overall, it was an interesting experience, but I'm not sure I'd come back for dinner. It's so cute in here! I was greeted at the entry by a friendly and welcoming employee whom I assume is the manager because he was dressed differently from the servers. He saw on the reservation notes that I was on quick lunch break and went over the menu as soon as i sat, mentioning that the pasta and pizza usually take 10-minute to cook. I really appreciated the breakdown but wasn't the most hungry so I got a caesar salad. He mentioned the shrimp is usually served cold like cocktail style, but it could be grilled, so i opted to add grilled shrimp. The salad came with the soup of the day which was clam chowder. It was delicious! Each spoonful was FULL of clams! For just $6.5 more you could add a drink and desert, so I thought "why not!". The inside is stunning! Absolutely beautiful. We had a party of 7, and not one of us said we would be back. And that's a bummer. The service was just above being a problem. We seemed like an inconvenience, and I hate that. Drinks were refilled by someone else, and our server came by the bare minimum. She was mildly rude when we asked if appetizers on the other side of the menu could be ordered. The food wasn't good. Started with plantation tea that was so weak it tasted like flavored water. I got the side fruits salad, which was odd, but mostly enjoyable. It had cucumbers, olives, watermelon, blueberries and grapes. And candies nuts that were so bitter, like the sugar had been burnt. I also go the carbonara. The sauce was so thick that my entire pile of pasta was stuck together. And the sauce again, was bitter. Like maybe too much lemon? The area is laid back, intimate with Vinyl music playing. There is a wide range of cocktails and wine available. You can also order food from the restaurant. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Botanico Waikiki. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome, and the service was friendly, attentive, and perfectly paced all evening. We started with the happy hour scallop crudo and steamed mussels, both of which were delicious. The Garden Cooler and wines paired perfectly with our meal. For our entrées, the red snapper Acqua Pazza was incredibly fresh and flavorful, while the house bolognese was rich, comforting, and expertly prepared. Botanico Waikiki is officially opening on 10/30. We went to a special preview. Executive Chef Yuta "Tama" Tamano masterfully weaves together Italian and Mediterranean flavors in this latest of the Zetton Hawaii Group restaurants (I believe it is the 12th!). The concept they are going for is bringing urban Italy into the heart of Waikiki. It's elegant but not stuck up kine elegant. I can see it working for casual dining, as well as special occasions. APPETIZERS: Lava Funghi & Salsiccia (Charcoal battered portobello mushrooms stuffed with jet black fritto and Italian herb sausage over arrabiata sauce). I really enjoyed this dish and would order it again. Moussaka with Pinsa Bread (Greek style eggplant and potato gratin with creamy meat sauce and pinsa). I can't think of any other places that serve up moussaka so this is a welcome addition to the local food scene! I loved the homestyle warmth of this dish. Manoa Vegetable Terrine (Layered green veggie terrine with Potato Vichyssoise sauce). I loved this! It's wrapped with cabbage and was a symphony of green flavors. Would definitely order this again. PASTA: Spaghetti Pescatore (Seafood spaghetti with shrimp, clams, scallops in a rich tomato anchovy fennel sauce). Chef Tama highly recommended this dish. Pasta was al dente, sauce was flavorful and the seafood cooked perfectly. Get this. Fettuccine Carbonara with housemade Pancetta (Carbonara, pancetta, egg yolk, pecorino romano cheese and black pepper). Anything bacon and I'm there! This was a sinfully rich dish. Only criticism was the sauce seemed a bit too thick. ENTREE: Chef's Steak of the Day. My friend ordered this but steak was delicious. I was intrigued by the aligot potatoes. A traditional French mashed potato blended with cheese, cream, butter and garlic. It's supposed to be a cross between mashed potatoes and fondue! DESSERT: Basque Cheesecake. A little different take on basque cheesecake cos they brulee the top. This is definitely not like dense NY cheesecake, so considered yourself warned. This cheesecake is very fluffy and light. DRINKS: Luke the bartender said he is going to be making his own Limoncello, hopefully by the first week of December. I am super looking forward to that! OVERALL: I am so excited to have another Italian/Mediterranean food option, especially with Chef Tama at the helm. Go check it out! I'm excited about the lunch offerings (pasta and pinsa). PARKING: 3-hour validated parking in the Waikiki Parking Plaza. Note: Lunch service and Happy Hour offerings will be available sometime in mid-November. Highly recommend stopping by this Italian Mediterranean fusion restaurant. This restaurant had fine dining presentations, without the insane fine dining prices. For appetizers, we tried the Manoa vegetable terrine (stunning presentation, and a great way to get in more fiber on your vacation), Lava fungi & salsiccia (absolutely delicious), beet and cauliflower hummus. For the pasta, we ordered the House Bolognese (the sauce was soooo good, and pasta a bit overly al dente) and the Vongole e bottarga conchiglie (the pasta here was not al dente unfortunately, but flavors were still good). I am amazed that this place isn't at least 4 stars (at the time of me writing this review) I'll start by saying my family and I initially were going to eat at Cheesecake Factory but the wait was insanely long, instead we decided to go for a walk and we found this spot, thank god we did. We walked in and immediately we were greeted so kindly, the staff let us know that they could seat us in just a few minutes, and they did exactly that -- but not only was the staff amazing, the decor inside of this restaurant was so charming it felt upscale but still down to earth with warm lighting surrounded by wood and plants, with green colors and brown, very natural. Our waiter Damon was EXCELLENT! They let us know the story of Botanico and a bit about their own story, they were extremely kind and had such great humor, it really made our party feel very at home and comfortable. The food was exceptional, Damon was also very attentive and checked in on us frequently and made sure we were doing ok. Damon felt like a friend! One last thing about Damon, he sang happy birthday IN ITALIAN to my brother, their voice and ability to make customers happy should not got unnoticed! We were all beyond satisfied with our experience here at Botanico, I can't recommend this place enough! The decor, service, and food! What a beautiful little bistro right on the strip but slightly hidden. This restaurant comes with 3 hours free parking at Waikiki Shopping Plaza. There is also a Kama Aina discount at both lunch and dinner. They also have a happy hour with discounted food and drinks. Enjoy the happy hour offers at the bar or lani only. I was very excited to try this place, as I love Italian and this place just opened in October. The atmosphere inside is super cute and I like the decor. The bartender was friendly as well. I liked the house red wine, and my friends liked their cocktails (except the martinis come in a glass where they are only filled a quarter of the way so they're pretty small). However, food wise, this is probably my least favorite Italian that I've tried in Honolulu. The noodles in my carbonara were kind of mushy and the flavor was pretty average. Walked by this new place a while back and finally came in today for happy hour. Great food at really good prices. The focaccia and ricotta was next-level delicious, and the staff were super cool. One small suggestion would be to make the happy hour draft offerings a little clearer, as I was hoping the draft IPA might be included. My waiter , Luke was a plethora of information regarding the menu. I absolutely loved their Pescatore and Beet Hummus! The seafood flavor was so rich and savory, truly delicious. I forgot to take a photo of the Basque cheesecake, but you have to try it! Came here during lunch time on a wednesday, was super excited to try it out since i heard a lot of good things about this place. First off, they do validated parking for 3 hours in the Waikiki Shopping plaza which is great, but minimum spend of $30 to get the validation. Made reservations for lunch just in case it was busy, but didn't really need a res, saw a lot of walk-ins. Sat down and got water and menus right away. Service is great, met the manager/owner (not sure) as well and he explained a lot of the ingredients and items on the menu. Was really bummed out that they couldn't service pizza this day because they ran out of their special dough to make the pizza, said it would come in 2 days later. We wanted to try some items on the dinner menu for lunch, asked if we could order from dinner menu and they said no because they didn't finish prepping the ingredients yet. so we came for lunch, no pizza, so that's half of the lunch menu we couldn't order on. ended up just with focaccia bread and Ricotta cream cheese and a pasta. All in all, food is great when they are in stock.. service is great! and validated Parking! big win. I would definitely recommend to call in for res, double check about the items on the menu to see if they are in stock. read more

The bartender was really nice and helpful with my many questions! The restaurant is beautiful with lots of eye catching details and plants. I tried the lunch menu. I tried the tomato pasta which was just okay. Tomatoes were sweet and garlicky but not much flavor. I was taken aback by the mini fruit salad. It had olives and chickpeas in it! I don't know about that... The vichyssoise was okay as well. No flavor but salty! I would try it again, maybe the cream pasta or pizza... read more

Had lunch to try out. Ordered pasta and pinsa. Presentations were good and fresh ingredients. I enjoyed Pinsa dough. Chewy but light. Great texture. However -Pasta- tomato sauce based. Flavor was good but too salty. -Pinsa - salty sauce(tomato based) as well. Wished they weren't that salty. Kamaaina discount was good to know. But I forgot to ask. read more
