After being out all day in Waikiki we wanted a nightcap to end the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great rooftop spot with some views.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got seated right away even though we had a fairly large group. The service was quick and super friendly. Most importantly, all the drinks we ordered were delicious and we enjoyed our time there together.
Celebrated a birthday dinner here. For a party of 12, reservations are highly recommended. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is on the rooftop bar of The Laylow hotel, Waikiki.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Serving Hapa cuisine and craft cocktails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love their interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately it was raining when we were here so the lounge area was wet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very laid back lanai vibes. They even had a live DJ.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We made it to happy hour so we tried to order a little of everything on the menu to share. The Laylow Maitai was highly recommended, so we got a few of those. Crispy pork belly brussels sprouts - delish! Mainlander burger - good! Shrimp dumplings - okay. Truffle fries & Hideout fries - good! Chicken karaage - so good, got 2! Poke tacos - good! Kalbi beef plate - fave! For our keiki, she enjoyed their butter pasta. Honestly, I almost ordered one myself. Great dining experience. Friendly staff. Cost was reasonable since we made it to HH for half of our meal. Check it out!
We had a credit since we were staying here at the hotel and decided to get breakfast here to use it! If you are going for breakfast, you have to get the pancakes. They definitely could be the best pancakes we've ever had. They were so good. The rest of the breakfast was good too but those pancakes were stand out for sure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of live music in the evening with a great vibe too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Hideout is a nice large updated open space which you can access from the street by going up the escalator at the Laylow hotel. The decor is fresh and welcoming and offers a wide range of comfortable seating options. Servers and staff are calm, friendly and helpful. Hideout has one of the longest happy hours, daily 1-5pm, offering a wide selection of discounted foods and drinks.
Our go to spot for hotel and mai tais and all! Alvin, Jeremy and the amazing bartenders are always consistent and taking care of us! Food is amazing! Must try the Brussels sprouts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is so cute at night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live music every night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
This is my 2nd review but have stayed here over the years when coming to HNL for the Hi Hotel & Restaurant Show. Ended up having the poke taco appetizer and once again Taylor who has been my bartender during past stays took care of me an hour before they closed for the night. Besides Taylor, Jeremy and James were the other bartenders working that night. I had come down earlier and had the Mo Bettah as my dinner entree and as in the past it was made to perfection as I requested medium rare. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe at the Hideout is always relaxing for me and even during the times when they have musicians in which the noise level can be a bit loud does not bother me as everyone there is on pau hana time![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the last two days of my stay I interacted with the day bartender Alvin who I also recognized from previous visits and ordered the Kimchee Braised Short Rib Skillet which although has had several variations over the years was still great. Highly reommned this as a breakfast option.
10/10 experience. Customer service was on point and food/drinks came out quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a musician playing live music which was very calming and since she was playing covers it was fun to guess what song it was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was exceptional. You can really taste the quality of the Wagyu patty, and the chili garlic sauce that came with the edamame was bangin, I put it on everything.
A true cocktail bar, with a decent enough kitchen attached to it. I wanted to talk with the bartenders about the drinks, be transported by the live music, and customize a couple cocktails for the mood I was in. The staff here is working hard. Many Waikīkī restaurants are staffed by people projecting and living the island vibe. Hideout's bartenders, highlighted by James and Jeremy, kept my club soda topped off while I wasn't looking, and listened to my drink feedback to pick the right bourbon and guide my food choices. They also had a regular in that night who visits 5X/year - they knew what she wanted and put in the order invisibly when she sat down. The espresso martini is not to be missed, and worth its "best of island" award. You also do need to try the Mai Tai here - flavorful, bold, and strong but not spirit-forward. With live music every night, it's tempting to stop by again and again. If I'd had better food it'd be a slam dunk recommendation. I was not about this play on spinach and artichoke dip that I got, but I ate it; they were definitely willing to swap it out if I'd insisted. That's good service. On my last night and third visit to the bar, Jeremy made a strawberry lily koi lemon drop just for me, based on my request for something "fruity and acidic". It was lights out.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the ambiance and music, the drinks were good as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As far as the food though, I wouldn't suggest making this your dinner, but more the social portion of your evening. For context I got the roasted corn salad with prawns, but it was missing two main listed ingredients...macadamia nuts (one of the main reasons I ordered it) and the Tomatoes (There were 3!). My three girlfriend had the islander salad or something like that and it was horrible as well. The kalbi however was killer, so I would have gotten that. Maybe it's a salad problem? Also the service was not good at all, we were never asked if we wanted a second drink or how the food was, because I would have asked for some extra tomatoes...and honestly maybe not written this review, I rarely write negative reviews. But the waitresses. Attitude was soooo bad.
Hideout has become one of my favorite little places to go in town. We always have a pleasant experience as the staff is always friendly. We typically sit at the bar and order food and drinks there. There can be a wait at times for tables, so if you're comfortable sitting at the bar, then I'd suggest that. FYI, the chairs at the bar don't accommodate those with larger hips as well as those that don't have the curves. The barstools are designed with a snugger metal backing/arm rest, so there isn't much room. I typically order the espresso martini, which is my favorite and you can't go wrong! We ordered the lamb chop, dumplings, and Thai noodles (spicy). Every dish was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the dumplings and lamb chop. I'm not a fan of spicy, but the flavor of the noddles was great. Looking forward to coming back!
I was really disappointed on my first visit to The Hideout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only reason I can give it 4*'s is due to the amazing service from Ciera and the lovely ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was tasty but the drinks were not... We ordered the warm beet salad, fries and the short ribs. Others ordered their burger, and enjoyed them! Sadly no one enjoyed their cocktails. My lemon drop martini tasted like watered down lemonade shaken with ice and a splash of vodka. Definitely didn't taste like fresh squeezed lemon juice! Not sure if this was just a bad night with their usual bartenders or new help, but we will try again.

Great service and yummy food... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked away at the Laylow hotel, is a chill restaurant with fun Hawaiian vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We started our vacation with dinner at the Hideout, and upon entering you could immediately hear live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We received a warm welcome, and brought over to our booth where our server Kai was quick to greet us. We ordered cocktails (I don't remember the name of mine. It's something spritz, and my husband tried the banana bread old fashioned) and we shared the appetizer platter (brussel sprouts with pork belly, kalua pork egg rolls, poke tacos, and edamame)to share. We also ordered the garlic shrimp dumplings. Everything was super tasty. Lots of other items on the menu that I want to try during another visit to the island. read more
Stressful from the start. I called to inquire about parking a week prior to my rsv and was told they were sold out for the night. I mentioned that it was just a general question and i wasn't coming that night. They informed me that it's validated for two hours and it's first come first serve. After the 2 hours its $14 an hour. Getting into the valet area was stressful enough as there was a car parked right before you turn and pedestrians that walk back and forth from their main driveway entrance. I also had to wait for valet for a bit too as there was 2 other cars in front of me and probably only 2 valet on duty trying to move cars forward. Reservations can be made on open table, but there was really no point to doing that since it's open seating during happy hour times. We ended up just picking a table that was in the shade, and noticed they only have their menu by QR code which is kinda annoying. The server was pretty nice tho and he brought my dog some water mid way. Their happy hour runs from 2-6 and the menu is slightly less expensive. The food was kind of standard hotel type of food and nothing really stood out. Otherwise the vibes at the restaurant was nice and i do like that they allow dogs to join you. it seems like they have live music after a certain time. I was even more annoyed and stressed with the valet when i went to pick up my car. They literally just handed me my keys. My car was parked along the wall probably 20 steps away, but they could have at least taken out my car cause it was so hard to get out, but i guess it's nice they trust that i wont bang the car in front of back of me i guess even tho im a pretty terrible parker. at the time they didn't look as busy as when i first arrived, so i dont know why they couldn't have just done the bare minimum with just pulling out my car from the stall. read more
I loved finding this spot! I looked at the coffee situation at my hotel (Hilton Garden Inn) and the lack of anything but powered creamer (yuck) so immediately went on the hunt for something better. I initially tried the bakery directly across the street at the International Marketplace, but they didn't open until 7am. I began to walk towards a distant Starbucks I found on Google and noticed an active escalator and signage pointing towards the open Hideout at the Laylow. Advertising local coffee, I immediately took the ride upstairs and was greeted by two young ladies full of smiles and Aloha spirit! Being summertime and hot (even at 6am) I ordered a large iced latte and decided to drink it on their large open lanai. I'm glad I did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The breezes up there were perfect and watching the daylight get brighter with local birds chirping and fluttering about made for a very nice wake-up![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This became my go-to stop every morning of my visit! I only ordered breakfast once and kept it low-carb so I had cheesy eggs and Portuguese sausage. Perfect and hit the spot. If staying at the Laylow (Marriott product) or close by, I'd recommend this as your morning wake-up as well! Enjoy! read more

Stumbled upon this "rooftop" bar in Waikiki after wanting some drinks after dinner. There was live music (really good!) and lots of lounge seating. We only waited about 5 minutes on a Wednesday night. Our waitress was very nice and helped us choose our drinks all night and didn't disappoint! We ordered a fried rice (not pictured), ube panna cotta (delish!) and a bunch of drinks! As yummy as everything was, we did pay a pretty penny for our bill. Along with a big group we had automatic gratuity added. We could have found a cheaper alternative but for what we had we did have a good time. I would return! read more
This is found on an open area balcony on the 2nd floor. It gives a rooftop deck feel without technically being on the roof top. The service was awesome and she gave us great recommendations on food and drink. Definitely recommend for the view and embiance. We sat close to the fire pit on the corner which was also pretty cool. I do recommend the edamame it was flavored and really good. And the espresso martini was also very good. read more

Hideout has been my go to for years - since before I moved to Hawaii. I used to stay at the hotel a lot and got to know the bar tenders who were always super friendly and on top of things. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibes are hard to beat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only slight downside is the live music can be a bit too loud sometimes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Musicians are always great though.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I always get the same thing - the Mo Bettah burger. I crave it when it's been too long. Their rotating cocktails are always spectacular and well balanced. The one I had last night (photo featured) was an ultraviolet and had a very unique flavor - very tasty. read more

What a wonderful gem in the middle of busy Waikiki! Wish we had found it sooner so could have eaten there each night, ha As vegetarians we, surprisingly, haven't had the best luck with finding fresh and quality food in Honolulu... until we visited Hideout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's above street level and is an open air concept with some tables fully covered from the sun, some semi covered, and other tables fully in the sun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is modern and lush tropical with plants all over[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu and options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We felt so welcomed and relaxed in the lovely space[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the seasonal vegetables which came with noodles and ginger crusted tofu. It was so fresh and delicious! I added avocado, too. Would get this dish over and over if I lived here. My husband had the housemade taro veggie burger and the spicy seasoned French fries. He said it was one of the best veggie burgers he's ever had. The fries were also very good.., I may or may not have tried... many of them :) For drinks we had a non-alcoholic beer and an ice tea. While we didn't have a cocktail the bar was well stocked with quality liquors and the drinks they were making all looked great Will definitely be coming back next time we're in town! read more

My friend and I wanted to try Hideout's happy hour and it was quite nice! We made a reservation but honestly felt like we didn't need one since it wasn't too crowded on a weekday at 4 pm. We both got the tropical sangria to drink and it was so fruity and refreshing! For food we got the wonton poke tacos, chicken karaage (called HFC on the menu) and the truffle garlic fries. Everything was pretty tasty! Our favorite though was the chicken karaage because of how juicy and flavorful the chicken was with a yummy buttermilk sauce. The ahi in the tacos tasted fresh and the fries were standard but still good. Our server was great and always checked up on us. Unfortunately it was raining the day we went but I can see how this restaurant can be such a scenic spot in the middle of Waikiki! read more
This is a spot to come if you are all about the vibes! The live music is incredible and adds to the entire ambience. The food is pretty decent, there is nothing too special about it, but it is a relatively good meal. Our service was nice and a fairly prompt, considering how busy it was. The ahi tuna tacos are actually pretty good. I also got the Kuhio bowl which has a nice variety of different proteins, including shrimp, Kahlúa pork, and ahi tuna. The rooftop vibes of this place is great with cute seating, mood lighting, and great live music read more

We stayed at Laylow and then decided to have brunch at Hideout on Sunday. I had the Pork Belly Skillet and he had the Loco Moco. The skillst was tasty. I was surprised at how much kimchi was on the skillet. It's not a bad thing since I like kimchi, just surprising when other places give so little. The Loco Moco wasn't anything too special to me, except the gravy was veal and mushroom. It was new for me but again, nothing too grand for a basic local dish. Our hostess showed patience for the guests as she sat us and others afterwards. Our waitress was kind and she also spotted that we were local without us saying much. Since we stayed at the hotel, we were given a credit that was used with our meal. Nice perk but the part that gives it one less star is there is no parking, only valet, unless you decide to park elsewhere and walk. We would come to eat here again. read more
Went out for a girls night for a good friend's 30th birthday and this place was the perfect place for it! We loved the live music. It was a Tuesday night and the two ladies that played had beautiful voices. We sat on the deck area by the fire pit. It's more of a lounge over a nice place for a dinner because I don't remember seeing proper tables, just more side tables for appetizers and drinks. The employees were nice about getting letting us use a bunch of side tables to hold all our appetizers bc we ate dinner there (lol). Our server was really nice and attentive to our needs. The food was pretty good. We got the kalbi, edamame, brussel sprouts, shrimp salad, and pad Thai. The brussel sprouts was my fav bar far. We made it in time for happy hour too! That was fun. Overall, I think this makes a great place to casually hangout outdoors and get some "fresh Waikiki air" and to enjoy some nice food & drinks. read more
The Hideout was a wonderful experience! We went for lunch time, and the restaurant was not very busy, which was nice! The layout of the seats and greenery was exceptional and very impressive. The restaurant is also on the 2nd/3rd floor, so you are able to get a beautiful view of the island! We learned that the chef is known for their pork, so keep in mind that most menu items include and come with pork. We got the eggs Benedict and loco moco, both with pork. The loco moco was elevated to a standard that we have never experienced before, and the egg Benedict's were creamy and perfected. The food was light with just the right amount of flavor in way bite. The potatoes with the Benedict's were my absolute favorite part because of how crispy they were and how much flavor they brought to the dish itself! Overall, I highly recommend checking out the Hideout for lunch or dinner! They have popular drinks as well, with the espresso martini being a popular and famous drink choice. read more

This place was a great choice for our lunch adventure. You can take the elevator or escalator up to the restaurant where you can enjoy outdoor dining. They have fun seating and have good space for a party/group seating. The food was very aesthetically pleasing and the flavor didn't disappoint. The proportion was fair for the price and everything was really satisfying. The staff were really kind and helpful! They were super accommodating and patient with the size of party we had (7).. When I arrived at 7pm November 23rd the hostess looked and acted like she was doing me a favor by processing my reservation. Not quite the warm welcome you'd hope for in a spot with this reputation. Thankfully, my waiter was the complete opposite: friendly, humorous, and genuinely good-spirited. Later on, I made my way to the bar and met a couple of bartenders who matched that same energy. All easy-going, personable, and fun to chat with. The food itself was wonderful. So good, in fact, that I completely forgot to take a picture before digging in. Yes, definitely a bit overpriced, but it's inside a hotel, so that's par for the course. At least the quality backed it up. The drinks, however, were a miss for me. My first cocktail was disappointing, and while they graciously offered to swap it out free of charge, the second one still didn't hit the mark. I just rolled with it, but I definitely expected better from the bar program. The real highlight of the evening was the live music. Jasmine Nicole was performing that night, and she absolutely killed it. Great voice, great vibe, perfect for the open-air setting. read more

Family of 5 went for dinner after a long day of travel. Food was top notch, and the presentation was beautiful. Service was great, our server was shelby and she was so helpful and accommodating. Located in Waikiki near International Marketplace, Hideout is located up the escalator from the street. There are open-air and outside seating choices on sofas, chairs, and a bar. As well, there are some more inside seating options. When we went, there was someone playing live music, which was nice. It feels pretty laid back around the whole restaurant. It was not super busy but a good amount of tables were occupied. We were seated immediately due to a reservation we made earlier. The people working were attentive and kind. We decided to get The Mainlander burger, brussel sprouts, citrus swell cocktail, so fetch cocktail, and pink Hawaiian mocktail. The burger was good. It was filling overall. The fries were crunchy and tasty. There was a good amount of salt and flavor for the fries. The burger was a bit saltier than anticipated but nothing overbearing. The cocktails were good -- not too sweet. The brussel sprouts as well were tasty. I felt the prices were a bit on the higher side but as can be expected from Waikiki. Had a reservation at Hideout on a Wednesday night at 645pm and the place was already packed (heard from multiple people that it's their favorite spot in Waikiki). The vibes were there, from walking in (the set up), live music, and overall aesthetic, the place delivered. Although it was raining, staff tried to accommodate with towels and blankets which made the space more welcoming. Now to the food- fish of the day was great with the sauce (asked for extra), however was pretty mediocre on its own. The beef kalbi was well marinated and the kimchi wasn't too over pouring. I did see a picture from yelp with the marinated hardboiled egg and was really looking forward to that, but I guess for dinner the only option is a fried egg assortment. The crispy pork belly and Brussels was probably the best part of the meal. I could eat that all day. From previous reviews, this place more so catered to drinks and the happy hour vibe. Whenever we pull up to Waikiki, the Hideout is a favorite spot for food and drinks with the homies. A reservation is best if you prefer being on the rooftop portion or have a large group. Even the waiting area is a vibe because it's connected to the adjoining hotel lobby and you can basically see and hear everything going on in the seating area. Wagyu Burger. Mo Bettah. That's it. That's the tweet. Jk, but allow me to expound. It's an incredible tasting burger. On the greasy side so you should probably cut it in half and put your phone away, but the bun absorbs it pretty well. Flavor is a 10/10 with that bacon jam and roasted garlic aioli. Let's be real it's probably one of the mo bettah things to get on the menu... ha If you're not a burger person, fear not, there's literally options for everyone's palette. Salads, wings, bowls, other sandwiches, fish. Our group had so much variety in food ordered, with everyone happy with what they got, so that goes to show how well curated the menu is. Same with cocktails. Espresso Martini with the mac nut foam was a great local twist. And the Hide & Seek (ube / pandan concoction poured from its own bottle) was memorable in flavor, but so strong tasting that you might not remember how the rest of your night goes if you have too many lol. After a long day of traveling, I chose in-room dining with Hideout. After I placed the order on the Marriott app, it arrived within 20-25 minutes and was handled by friendly staff. I ordered the edamame, kalua egg rolls, and manoa chocolate bread pudding. The edamame was great with a tiny bit of spice - enough for someone like me that can barely tolerate mild buffalo sauce. The pork in the kalua egg rolls was dry, but the pineapple jam helped and its sweetness complemented the egg rolls well. There was a little bit of slaw inside the egg rolls that served no purpose other than texture. Most of the slaw created a bed underneath the egg rolls. Finally, the bread pudding was chocolate overload - in a good way. It was very decadent and the chocolate gelato was my favorite part. What I liked about the service was that the delivery to the room was more takeout style than in-room dining. The food was provided in to-go containers inside of a brown bag. This is a lot less awkward to discard after finishing your meal compared to having a tray, and calling room service again to come collect it or leaving the tray outside your door in the hallway. The entrees didn't appeal to me and some of them seemed overpriced, which is why I didn't order any, but I recommend Hideout if you'd like a casual place to dine with quick service and a more elevated menu. read more

The laylow breakfast was good as well - they both went with the Portuguese sausage. I chose this place for the Banana Bread Old Fashioned. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool vibe, but if you are flying solo like I was, the bar is crowded so you may end up around a fire pit with others.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Over looks Kuhio Ave so there is a lot to see if you are near the edge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Server was prompt. I ordered the Mo Better burger. So good. Bun was soft and buttery. Added bacon. Old Fashioned was great as well. I ordered a second drink (Mai Tai) and it took a bit (20 minutes) to come out. By far, this was my favorite restaurant in the Waikiki area. They served the best Mai Tai I had during my stay: well-balanced and not overly sweet. The outdoor setting, paired with live music, made the experience even more enjoyable and truly captured the Waikiki vibe. I ordered the Pork Belly Skillet, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Our waitress was the star of the show! She was so attentive + so friendly. The ambiance is relaxed and it's in the Ludlow hotel. We had brunch on a weekday morning with no wait. Food: - We thought the loco moco was too salty (the gravy was overpowering) but the eggs + meat were cooked well. I wasn't able to make a reservation, the restaurant was not answering the phone. I walked in that same evening and was able to get a table inside the restaurant. It did get a little warm. If you sit on the deck, it's much cooler. There was live music playing, then a DJ started to play later in the night. Very trendy ambience. Good place to come with friends. Our waitress was attentive and quick. Great service. Food: The braised short ribs were tender and flavorful. The mash was filled with spices and perfectly prepared. The brussel sprouts were crispy. It's located in the lobby of the LayLow hotel and it truly is a hideout. Great atmosphere and tucked away in between all the city noise. If you come in the evening, you might even be able to catch some live music. The food was pretty good. I came here twice for breakfast. Here is what I tried: + Laylow Breakfast - Simple breakfast; I chose spam as my choice of protein. Honestly you can't go wrong. It was filling and delicious. + Loco Moco : The wagyu beef patty and mushroom gravy were savory and seasoned well. I'm not sure if it was the patty or the gravy but something was heavy on the black pepper. It wasn't the best loco moco I have ever had but I still enjoyed it. + Buckwheat Pancakes : Pretty good but I wish they were more fluffy. + Laylow "Hawaiian Style" Cold Brew : Light coconut flavor and the macadamia nut cold foam was good. read more

Yes! there were lots of kids, even very young ones) when I was there recently
The online menu says they have "mimosas for the table" at Sunday brunch. Is that still offered? I don't see it mentioned in anyone's reviews which seems unusual.
Hideout recently brought brunch service back since the pandemic. Mimosas for the table is a new addition to the Sunday brunch menu, which is why you may not see reviews about it. Hope this helps!

Is the vibe of this place too young for seniors? I need a family friendly place for dinner with my aunties, in their 60s and 70s
It is a bit trendier on weekend nights but totally doable with your aunts. The dinner food was good, breakfast not so much. It is a pretty chilled out place with nice music and they have firepits incase your aunts get cold.
So my truck is lifted and my wheels are kinda wide do they let you just leave your vehicle upfront or someone takes it and drives it somewhere?
You might want to call the hotel and check my answer, but we felt their valet garage was tight and cramped. It sounds like your truck would be a tight fit. I'm pretty sure you can park at the International Marketplace which is right next door.…
