I loved it. The seafood brushetta is a must. Crostini type bread absolutely covered in a thick, creamy, cheese sauce. For my Mao. Course I ordered the Granchio and that's another MUST HAVE item. Location: located on Lewers St. Parking is on Helumoa Rd. Go down Lewers St, make a left on Helumoa and shortly after, valet parking will be on your left. The restaurant validates parking, $8 for 4 hours, tip not included. For my son's 18th birthday he wanted to eat pasta. After looking at many Yelp reviews, we ended up making reservations at Taormina. Unfamiliar with the menu we decided to do the five tasting course. As of 4/22/26 the base price is $125 and depending on what you choose, there are some add ons. For example the carbonara was +$25 and the Ricci di mare was +$18. Food: the Focaccia bread was free and comes with free refills. The salmon with caviar was really good. It had the perfect balance but very small, about 1.5". The next dish was the baked abalone. That was also very delicious but two bites and it's over. At this point, we were starting to think we would leave hungry. The next dish was the pasta. We tried both the carbonara and the Ricci di mare. Both were very good. The carbonara came with freshly slices truffles and thick crispy pieces of bacon. Highly recommend for truffle lovers. I'm not a huge uni fan but surprisingly the Ricci di mare was also really good. Of note, the pasta in the five course tasting is half the size of the regular order. Even at half the size, I felt the serving portion was good. I felt satisfied but not full. The next dish was the main course so filet mignon and monchong. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly but I personally didn't like the sweet sour balsamic vinegar taste that was drizzled over. I would have preferred it to be more savory. The monchong was okay but a little overcooked for my liking. The portion size of the main course was good. Lastly was our desert but to our surprise, they brought out a nicely written happy birthday platter with half a lava flow desert and a small scoop of ice cream. My son really enjoyed it. The creme caramel was also good and reminded me of flan. Service: the waitress did her job but I personally felt we had better service entering the restaurant and being seated. She had no smile, did not offer any recommendations, and no small talk which is fine but noticeable. Our bill came out to $463.87 tip not included. Though we really enjoyed the salmon and abolone I'm not sure it's worth the price and the extra three bites. Next time I would just stick with the pasta. If we had just ordered the full order of pasta our bill would've been $195. read more

I looked up a "Date worthy restaurant in Waikiki that's less than $100 per person" and this was one of the top recommendations. We wanted to hang out in Waikiki while we waited for our daughter at the winter ball. This is located on Lewers, next to Beach Walk where there's lots of action. Lots of shops to browse through near by. The only challenge is parking as the only obvious one is at the Imperial Hotel but you don't get validation (only$8/hr isn't a bad deal). FYI-Embassy Suites is on the next street. The restaurant is romantic and cozy. The service was impeccable and the food was superb! My husband ordered spaghetti and I got squid ink pasta. We shared the dessert so we could try all of them. The coffee gelato was soooooo good! We sat inside ("upstairs" by the kitchen and it was cool to watch them in action. They have half of their seating outside on the patio so if you prefer outside you'll need to specify when making reservations. We forgot to tell them we were celebrating our 18th anniversary...not sure if they do anything to help celebrate but they didn't ask...probably because nearly every customer is tourist. One of our go-to place when visiting Waikiki. My wife loves their Sea Urchin pasta. Very rich, delicious and a good portion size. I decided to get their lunch Prix Fixe. Beef Carpaccio was refreshing. My favorite was the Nero Frutti Di Mare (squid ink pasta). Really good flavor, not overwhelming or rich. It was perfect. Beef filet melts in your mouth. Very good service by Hayato. He is very nice and attentive. He saw my wife and I shared bites from our dishes. So he gave us extra plates and serving utensils. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Walked past this place many times when visiting Waikiki and always been on my list. Finally got to try it to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a fun night and sitting outside was really nice! The food was good! But I think it's a little overpriced for what it was. I enjoyed the amberjack and beef carpaccio a lot. The seared duck was delicious too. And loved how the risotto had foie gras mixed into it. Their lamb chops were tender and juicy too. This is a long overdue review of Taormina. The review originally sat in my drafts and I forgot to post it. First off, I came here LAST YEAR for restaurant week with a couple of girlfriends. We enjoyed a special prix fixe menu and I've been meaning to find an excuse to come back. For appetizers we enjoyed the beef carpaccio which was excellent. The beef was prepared well with no gamey taste to the meat. The argula was fresh, peppery, and the drizzle of olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon was perfection. Although not regularly on the menu, I enjoyed the carbonara pasta as part of the prix fixe special. It was delicious. I'm hoping that the restaurant will consider adding the carbonara pasta to their regular line up. I noticed on the menu they have the truffle carbonara, but not the classic presentation. One of the ladies enjoyed the granchio and it looked beautifully done. I will need to order that next time! Lastly we finished off with tiramisu which was a perfectly sweet ending! Ambience is a bit crowded as the restaurant is located in the heart of Waikiki. read more

At lunch they provide free focaccia with olive oil/balsamic vinegar and a passion fruit sorbet after the meal. The Siciliana pasta was excellent. Great spicy flavor with a unique sweet/spicy beef ragu sauce. It's not a huge portion but it's very good. The chicken alla Griglia was excellent. It's a huge piece of chicken, perfectly roasted and seasoned. It's very tender and flavorful. Really it's better than the pasta IMO. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Hawaii. The service was great the food was amazing from the timing of my set Christmas menu and they gave us a complimentary wedding anniversary desert on a plate with Happy 22nd Anniversary written on it. This is a very popular Japanese Italian restaurant in the heart of Waikiki. I got the seafood pescatore and it came with a lot of seafood. I mean a LOT. I was disappointed with how salty the spicy tomato sauce was. It had a good seafood flavor, but I think it was reduced too far or something. Service is excellent. The waiter checked on us just enough to be attentive but not overbearing. The ambiance on the patio is not the best. You are along a service road leading into a parking structure so there is a lot of traffic and vehicle pollution while you dine. I personally was put off by that. read more

The restaurant interior is small considering the heavy traffic of diners and is upscale and clean. Service is excellent. Chef Hiro Mimura does not disappoint. This was my go to favorite Italian restaurant for years, but it's greatly disappointed us this time! We were there like a week ago and ordered their daily special $69 which was Kauai shrimps with seafood fettuccini in little spicy tomato sauce. That dish was super disappointing! First of all, those shrimp were super unfresh, the meat already turned mushy, way overcooked, sauce not as good as their squid ink pasta which was my favorite. I ordered foie gras for $29 for just a super tiny piece! It's not enough for two people to share, so my husband just let me had it all, didn't have enough balsamic sauce either! My fault that didn't read the description carefully, the Alfredo sauce drowning the toasts with satiny scallops, absolutely hated this dish, didn't eat it and waiter didn't bother to ask why , just hurried to take it away!
