Not "large" shrimp! Not fresh. One bite and it was mushy! not the shrimp that comes with the salad usually.
    Christina A.

My one star is not about the service. Someone dropped the ball. I ordered the Large shrimp (that shrunk and was actually medium sized) with the salad. To my surprise, the head of the shrimp was on the shrimp thrown right onto my salad greens. I tried to separate them as I do not like the head and had I known, I would have never ordered it. I've been coming to Island Vintage for many many years almost weekly. I get the Mona kea next door and açaí typically. It's been a year since I got the shrimp salad. This WAS NOT the salad I have ordered for the past 11yrs. I was there with friends and something poked a part of the back of my throat area that I could not remove in public so I ended up taking it to go so I could see what was hurting my throat.. After spending 10 min just peeling the shrimp and removing the head with the parts all in my salad, I put the shrimp to the side and took a couple bites of the salad. A piece of the antenna or something poked into the back of my throat and was stuck, I couldn't finish my food till I got to my room after taking out what was stuck! We told the waiter and he said it's not the first time people have complained about it since they began putting the head attached and that the restaurant hasn't listened. So I suggested telling management myself to help the cause. The manager came over and was very nice! He thanked me for letting him know and that he didn't know it was ever served without the head. He said he's was new there..That was interesting to me since if you look at all the photos and reviews here, it's clearly without the head! He offered to take it away but I wasn't trying to get a refund. I wanted to eat it when I got to my room after removing what poked my throat and was stuck because I couldn't swallow and was afraid to. Plus I hadn't eaten any of the shrimp. My hands were filthy trying to get the head off. I got the bill and went along my way. I got to my room and once I cleared my throat I went through the salad and took a bite of the shrimp which I threw all 4 away after taking one bite. For one it was mushy which scared me and 2, it WAS NOT the shrimp that usually comes with this salad. They took the garlic butter shrimp they offer on their menu and threw it on my salad instead of the usual shrimp which had a different flavor that I loved for many years. My salad was supposed to have 4 large shrimps, if you look at my photo with just the shrimp left, and no head, those are medium and had garlic and butter all over them. Like saucy! Whatever it was it was not fresh! And it was NOT the shrimp they have always served this salad with. The shrimp this salad is served with usually is almost like a grilled butterfly large shrimp with this delicious flavor that almost tastes like it had saffron in it. Not a saucy garlic butter which is usually served as their garlic shrimp. And why would you put all the heads on and throw it on a bed of greens that could puncture someone's throat? Had I known in the restaurant that they threw on garlic shrimp on my salad, I would have returned it! In all my years coming to Island Vintage I've never experienced the shrimp salad like this. Waiter was fantastic and sweet! Manager should have taken initiative and shown more concern that my throat was punctured and I couldn't finish my food there..but again he was very nice..I should have agreed to a refund! Sorry ..my review is all over the place..and poorly written..I'm just super upset and just don't feel this matter was taken seriously.. I could have choked and my throat was punctured with part of the head or something in it.

Ambiance: it's the island vintage bar restaurant loaded next to its coffee shop, open air seating Service: friendly but very slow, it took a long wait to get food Food: numerous choices of Hawaiian style food BRAISED BEEF LOGO MOCO - **** braised short rib, gravy, over easy eggs, garlic rice, tender and chewy beef with flavorful sauce, recommend SPICY AHI POKE BOWL - **** spicy aioli, green onions, avocado, very fresh ingredients, recommend Price: decent food quality and reasonable prices for its location, expect $35 per person

I've been to island vintage coffee many times. They have a number of unique drinks, but nothing that's ever blown me away, to be honest. This was my first time going to Island Vintage Wine Bar which has the same menu. The restaurant is really cute; I love the natural wood tones and overall aesthetic. We got an island style plate which I highly recommend. Delicious Portuguese sausage, rice, eggs, and asparagus. The salad dressing was amazing and the papaya was an excellent sweet end to the meal. The perfect balance of sweet and savory overall. The wagyu loco moco was hearty and flavorful. As far as loco mocos go, it was excellent. But the winner was certainly the island style plate. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend for a brunch in Waikiki.

Everything I've ever tried here has been delicious! Our servers are always friendly and we like the casual vibe of this restaurant and wine bar. Portions are generous so we shared a couple of entrees and finished strong with one of their specialty açaí bowls for dessert.

My vegan breakfast sandwich was good, but since it comes with gluten-free bread it fell apart on the second bite and I had a sandwich salad. The service was very slow and the restaurant was a mess, though. At least 10 birds flew in, landed on tables, etc. during my meal, the bartenders splashed water everywhere constantly so I couldn't work on my laptop, and the surfaces were dirty.

If you're indecisive, be warned that the menu is long and there is a lot to choose from! My personal favorite was the homemade burrata. My recommended entre would be the keto salmon, which came with a nice cauliflower rice and greens.

I always love a visit to Island Vintage. I usually stick to açaí bowls, but with such wide menu, I tried something new. I had the wagyu cheese burger. It was really good. The portion is a solid size considering it comes with both a salad and fries. While it was busy, my party came without a reservation, but was able to immediately get seated at the bar. Staff wasn't completely helpful when tackling the menu, but I still was happy with what I ordered. Parking is validated through the Royal Hawaiian Center Parking Garage with minimum $25 purchase. Kama'aina receive 3 hrs free. Get validation at Guest Services (located on the first floor across from the stage).

I came here unintentionally while standing in line for their coffee bar. The coffee bar line was barely moving and we noticed the restaurant right next door was not too busy. With the same exact menu, we decided to just dine in. I got their acai bowl and my fam got their avo toast and island plate (eggs, port sausage, rice, salad, fresh fruit). The service was okay, since they were busy it took a while to get our order. The ambiance is gorgeous though and I had no complaints waiting in paradise. The acai bowl was good and they put a lot of honey on top. The other two dishes were tasty. It is on the middle tier in terms of price, but I thought the presentation and portions were worth it.

I love this restaurant because it has a large menu to accommodate everyone! My favorite is the nori chips and the kakiage tofu poke. The drinks are also amazing!

We visited here twice on our recent trip to Oahu! We usually go next door to Island Vintage Coffee for breakfast and end up battling the crowds for a table. Here, though, you're actually seated and can order directly from a menu, which makes the experience so much more relaxing. And yes, you can even have breakfast for dinner! On our first visit, we stopped by for a late-night dessert and shared the haupia açaí bowl. The second time, my husband ordered the garlic shrimp plate and said it was even better than the ones we had on the North Shore. I went with a breakfast plate because I love their toast and jam, and it did not disappoint. They also serve alcohol here, along with entrees like pasta dishes that you won't typically find next door at Island Vintage Coffee. Prices are a couple of dollars higher, but for the service, comfort, and quality especially while on vacation I think it's absolutely worth it.

What does this place NOT do well in...from coffees to food. Everything here is pure perfection. We come to Waikiki yearly and always come here. I do not care how touristy this place is. The food is worth it every year. We love their coffee and food. We have flown their food back home to 9th Island aka LAS VEGAS. If this place opened in Vegas, this place would dominate. Hands down. I'll even invest!! My husband loves thier coffee here and how smooth it is. His go to is always a vanilla latte and I always get the island latte! My favorite açaí bowls are the original and liliko bowl. So refreshing! Filling as well! Our favorite food go to are the braised beef loco moco! Omg that beef is so tender! It like just melts in your mouth. We brought this to Vegas and even the next day- still delicious!! My husband doesn't really eat loco mocos but he definitely killed this when we got back! He's like oh wow this was from island vintage??? The portions are huge so it's worth the price. Sharing is caring. Another one we like and share as well is that turkey avocado panini! The best sandwich in Waikiki. Oh my...from the bread to the ingredients-so fresh! The sandwich is huge too! We ate this on our flight one year and we were so grateful we got it because it made business class food look horrible! Service is quick if you order online and pick up. We learned not to even go in line anymore lol. They really figured out thier system to accommodate more orders. They have a great system and great staff! So busy!

We love coming here whenever we're in Honolulu. We opt to come here as opposed to the cafe next door bc seating is pretty quick. We came around 7:30ish on a Monday morning and immediately got seated. I got the hot hojicha, which comes pre sweetened bc it's a powder. It's always delicious! I got the keto braised beef loco moco and really enjoyed my meal! The truffle cauliflower risotto actually worked well w the dish overall. My husband got the island style plate and also ate it completely. We were stuffed until dinner time! The service was wonderful and they were very accommodating with our kid. Always a plus!

My usual at the Waikiki and Kapolei locations, the Wagyu Swiss Mushroom Burger!
    Angel C.

Great place to take out-of-town or out-of-country guests or even for a catch up or date night! Awesome service! The food itself is not out-of-this-world mind blowing (American food isn't my first choice for dinner lol) and prices are what you'd expect in Waikiki (though Kapolei isn't much better either), but my usual order at either this or the Kapolei location is the wagyu Swiss mushroom burger. The regular/sweet potato fries texture is bomb, too! I like the salad that comes with the burger and fries as well. Just like Island Vintage Coffee, you can order drinks, açaí bowls, and other small items, in addition to a separate wine bar menu! The service, wine bar offering, and chill, but elegant ambiance makes this a five-star experience! Backstory: our group heard last minute that our house dinner got cancelled, and so I had to find a last minute dinner reservation in Waikiki to treat our guests visiting Hawai'i for the first time! Most Waikiki restaurants on OpenTable either required a deposit or were poorly rated. Not Island Vintage Wine Bar! Our server was so helpful, patient, and kind throughout our dining experience as a party of 9. She even accepted our birthday cake from outside, stored it in their kitchen, and even loaned us a lighter for birthday candles! The wine offering is great. Island Vintage even caters to those who prefer sweet wines like one of our guests with a wine flight called the "Sweet Tooth Flight." So I think there are two general categories of diners--the foodies who prefer unique food at a hole in the wall like me (hence the four stars), or those who are really on a vacation and want something familiar, safe, and comfortable like my mom. I would not hesitate to bring my picky eating mom to Island Vintage Wine Bar! KAMA'AINA/MILITARY PARKING DISCOUNT: Island Vintage Wine Bar works with the Royal Hawaiian Center management, so kama'aina and military can request for Royal Hawaiian Center's discounted parking rate right here!

We ordered Seafood Paella, Mushrooms appetizer. The second time we added different menu. Seafood Paella, added Shrimp Ajillo with fresh homemade bread, Arugula beets salad. The third time ( this time ) we added another different menu. The more we come, the more we can try new menu and enjoy new tastes. Honestly El Cielo, all menu we tried even wine and draft beers, were top class, I love to nominate as the best restaurant in Hawaii. I am so glad I found the great restaurant, I was seeking for. Prices were not bad, as inflation everything costs are so expensive nowadays. Everywhere!! Their services are great too. If I live close by I would go El Cielo once or twice a week. I really enjoyed the octopus. Not too soft. It came with a nice chew and sat on a bed of thinly sliced potatoes. I could've eaten the whole dish by myself...No sharing next time. The egg custard was light, with a hint of bacon flavor. It was served in the shell in a high heeled shoe dish. So cute! The entrées were a bit of a different story... I ordered the pork shoulder at first and the waiter recommended it be done, medium rare. I have to say I am no longer a fan of bloody meat so I asked for it to be done medium. Honestly, it arrived and to my palate was a bit tasteless.... given that it was almost $60 I thought twice but was encouraged to send it back. The waiter was accommodating and I ordered the lamb chops instead. Two thick sliced lamb chops arrived about 15 minutes later and were a perfect medium served on a bed of potato and sweet potato. I really enjoyed this.... I like my lamb chops usually grilled, juicy and fatty. These were refined, trimmed of the fat and beautifully plated. I'd like to try the paella next time and more of the appetizers. Really good choice of fancy little cocktails also. I would reserve the back room for sure next time. That room has high ceilings and feels elevated. The front room where we sat was OK. I'd also opt for the outside seating area on a breezy evening... Otherwise it can be rather humid in the summer. Overall, excellent service and delicious food offerings. A bit pricey to be expected given the area.

I mentioned that it was just a general question and i wasn't coming that night. They informed me that it's validated for two hours and it's first come first serve. After the 2 hours its $14 an hour. Getting into the valet area was stressful enough as there was a car parked right before you turn and pedestrians that walk back and forth from their main driveway entrance. I also had to wait for valet for a bit too as there was 2 other cars in front of me and probably only 2 valet on duty trying to move cars forward. Reservations can be made on open table, but there was really no point to doing that since it's open seating during happy hour times. We ended up just picking a table that was in the shade, and noticed they only have their menu by QR code which is kinda annoying. The server was pretty nice tho and he brought my dog some water mid way. Their happy hour runs from 2-6 and the menu is slightly less expensive. The food was kind of standard hotel type of food and nothing really stood out. Otherwise the vibes at the restaurant was nice and i do like that they allow dogs to join you. it seems like they have live music after a certain time. I was even more annoyed and stressed with the valet when i went to pick up my car. They literally just handed me my keys. My car was parked along the wall probably 20 steps away, but they could have at least taken out my car cause it was so hard to get out, but i guess it's nice they trust that i wont bang the car in front of back of me i guess even tho im a pretty terrible parker. at the time they didn't look as busy as when i first arrived, so i dont know why they couldn't have just done the bare minimum with just pulling out my car from the stall.

Quite a bit of parties around us were partaking in this. I on the other hand had asked for a non-alcoholic option. Unfortunately, they ran out of ginger beer, all the sparkler options, and didn't serve any soda. The bartender looked pretty irritated by that point, and didn't even provide me with a glass of water. We would've grabbed a bunch of food to compensate for taking up a seat, but by then, the bartender had already dropped the check, and we hadn't even sat there for more than 5 minutes. The most interesting part was that an older couple sat next to us, similar situation. The gentleman asked for a glass of wine, and his wife asked for a non-alcoholic beverage. Though a different bartender came back with a sparkler option for her. Needless to say, I felt pushed aside and I don't believe I'll be back to this location any time soon. The Gouda added this rich, slightly smoky creaminess that made it feel a little more elevated than your standard burger. Every bite was messy in the best way, and the bun held up like a champ. The fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and impossible to stop eating. You know they're good when you keep reaching for "just one more" and suddenly they're gone. We also got the fried calamari and it was perfectly golden and tender, not rubbery at all. Light, crispy coating and super snackable -- especially dipped in the sauce. But the sleeper hit? The smoked ahi with lavosh. So flavorful and fresh, with that smoky richness balanced by the crisp lavosh. It felt light but still packed with taste -- a perfect contrast to the heavier fried stuff. Honestly, everything hit. Great mix of indulgent and fresh, and I'd order this exact combo again without hesitation.

We stopped in during their happy hour from 3-5 PM, and it immediately stood out as an ideal after-work pau hana or easy date-night spot. The space is relaxed and inviting, with a calm, tucked-away feel that makes you forget you're inside a hotel. The happy hour menu is impressively priced, with starters beginning at just $6, yet everything feels thoughtfully prepared and elevated. Highlights included the toasted bread with sun-dried tomato pistou -- warm, crisp toast paired with a deeply savory, herbaceous spread that's simple but incredibly satisfying. The mini poke bowl was fresh and well-balanced, showcasing clean flavors and quality fish without being overly heavy. The fish tacos delivered exactly what you want: crispy island fish, bright flavors, and a great balance of texture. We also tried the fish and chips, featuring lightly fried island fish, hot fries, and a creamy house remoulade that tied the dish together beautifully. The standout for us was the empanadas -- flaky, crisp pastry filled with tender braised beef and potato, finished with a bold aji rojo sauce that added just the right amount of depth and gentle heat. Service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed, and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and enjoy the experience. Whether you're looking for a low-key happy hour, a casual date spot, or a place to unwind after work, this is a hidden gem worth seeking out. Pro tip: Arrive early for happy hour -- once more people discover this spot, it won't stay quiet for long.

The cafe had a nice inviting feel that extended towards the back, the ambiance was dark and chic. The cafe was adorned with Halloween motif. We placed our orders at the counter which was towards the front section and our food were served at our table. I chose the Spinach Mushroom Goat Cheese Omelette and Lemonade for my drink. That homemade lemonade was so refreshing and delicious! Loved the delicious spinach and mushroom in my omelet. Hubby ordered a classic breakfast of Two Eggs w/ Bacon and Roasted Potatoes... wow! the bacon was crispy and yummy and just how I like my bacon cooked. He gave me 2-pieces, maybe because he saw me drooling over it LoL! but I'm telling you, Therese's Wagyu Cheeseburger on Brioche with French Fries looked mighty yummy too! Thank you, Terry, for inviting us to join you for a Sunday brunch. We had a wonderful first time dining experience here with good food and company! Review #3585

They only serve natural wines, which made everything feel really intentional and thoughtfully chosen. We had a Pinot Noir, a super funky orange wine that was honestly really cool to try, and Coenobium -- a beautiful white wine made by nuns. At one point, a bottle of red wine was opened and poured as a little salute for the room -- a simple, unexpected moment that was really wholesome. For food, we shared the venison pâté with bread and a Caprese salad -- simple, but done so well and paired perfectly with everything. It wasn't just about what we had, but how the whole experience came together. There's something really special about what they're creating there. We are already planning our next visit!

The staff is so sweet and accommodating and make excellent recommendations based on their understanding of their wines and your palate. Will definitely be back as they routinely add new wines to the menu throughout the month. The food menu is limited especially if you aren't a big meat eater but there's something for everyone. Low intervention and organic wines with such great range from light and bubbly to heavy with tons of body. Come for the wine and make friends with the staff and others around the bar. The setting is intimate so get comfy.

Their take on loco moco is quite different from the typical plate lunch. The sauce is not the gravy kind, instead it's like a thicken sweet cornstarch slurry sauce. Similar to the Chinese sweet and sour sauce, but it's not sour. Second, the hamburger patty style is super soft and juicey. The style is more like the Japanese Hambagu. This was one of my favorite dish that I always get. The cream croquette was yummy dummy delicious. Crunchy and creamy in each bite. The chicken yakitori was tender and umami. Love sprinkling with the red pepper to add a nice kick. It can be a bit of a wait for the food to come out. As for parking, they have a two hour validation at the Hyatt Centric Waikīkī. I recommend placing a reservation as sometimes the wait can be a bit long during busy hours.

Yellowtail collar - tender and delicate. Just perfect for 1 but could be shared by 2. 2. Grilled squid eye socket - sounds gross? Nope. It's crunchy on the edges with a beautiful taste and then chewy in the center. One of the most delightful dishes I've ever had. 3. Jellyfish - weird AF but not bad. Smoky, crunchy, not slimy at all. If I grew up eating this it would taste just like Cheetos but way healthier. 4. Stingray fin - wife loved it. She eats dried squid. Me? I liked it. It's sweet, smoky, and with a touch of sea. Like beef jerky from a really fresh piece of seafood. Service is amazing. Our waitress was incredibly kind despite our overly obnoxious western attitudes about trying strange foods. She is a patient saint who made our dinner an exceptional experience. Try this place. It's in the back, hard to find, has a fun vibe, and delivers an incredible experience.
