AYCE Pizza for under $45! Visited the place on a Sunday night, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were warmly greeted by staff, and the ambiance of the place was sophisticated but not over the top. You can choose if you like to order ala carte or AYCE. We chose the AYCE (Gourmet Pizza Experience), which gave us an option to try any of their 20+ savory pizzas and 5 sweet pizzas. The pizza slices were a bit smaller than a regular slice, which I honestly think it's a good thing if your goal is to try as much flavors as you want. The ingredients used were really fresh, which you can taste in each bite. We ordered a salad on the side to balance out all the pizza slices we had, and it was perfect. Also, you get 20% off ala carte items when you get the AYCE experience. My favorites: Savory: Honey and Brie, Four Cheese, Margherita Originale Sweet: Banana and White Chocolate Service was amazing, the staff were very attentive and they are able to get the right timing for when we're supposed to be offered a pizza flavor. Amazing ingredients, and a very well thought out approach to the Mignon Supreme pizza I ordered. The pairing of flavors and quality of of the toppings - the steak strips and cheese blend with just the right amount of Gorgonzola with a splash of sweet onion were as good as it gets. But undercooked doughy pizza isn't good. I'll give them another chance. And maybe Brazilian style pizza is supposed to be gooey undercooked dough. When I read about the unique ingredients, I had high expectations for the pizza. The base price of $32 for a Personal 10 inch pizza is high but as we live in the neighborhood, and prefer to support local businesses, I ordered it anyway. I didn't notice the additional $12 service fee, charged by San Paulo, which is .03 miles away. No restaurant, including delivery from Aiea, has charged it before. The fee is supposedly to help delivery costs, but hard to see where that applies here when we live .03 miles away!! Delivery for two personal pizzas came to $98! If the pizza was awesome I would say it was worth the money, but it was not. We didn't notice much of a flavor difference between the pepperoni, which is distinctive, and the margarita pizza. The sauce was lost, and they were mainly just a bland, chewy crust. We added fresh basil, as it wasn't apparent on the margarita pizza, and chili flakes to give it needed flavor. We support local businesses our neighborhood, but not when the price point is this high, for subpar food. Adding a service fee for a .03 mile delivery, adds to an already premium price. $98 for 2 small pizzas? San Paolo pizza is definitely not worth it. read more

Anyways, we shared a Neapolitan (10" - 4 slices) and the bolognese. We enjoyed the pizza, but the bolognese was bland. We've had fantastic bolognese in Italy and domestically and this one needs some help. Lastly, the drink menu...especially wine menu needs a revamp. I'm so glad I found what looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but a magical place of delicious delights! That's literally how I felt. My first impression walking in was that this place is classy. From their brick walls to their beautiful furnishing. Their place mats feel like leather and their tables have little hooks to hang purses. Attention to detail! My wife and I shared a Brazilian breakfast and avocado toast with a poached egg. At first glance, the waffles looked like regular waffles, but they aren't. I think they are supposed to be cheesy. I didn't taste cheese. It was almost dough-like. Interesting concept of AYCE pizza! It's basically like Brazilian bbq where the servers would bring out different pizzas on rotation and you'd flip the card on the table indicating whether you wanna keep going or take a break. Food wise, most of the pizzas were enjoyable! My favorite was the honey and Brie, casteoles, prosciutto, Hawaiian and bbq chicken. Strangely the ones I thought I would enjoy weren't that enjoyable. Not a big fan of the catupiry cheese. Usually I like creamy stuff, but that on pizza was a bit too much and made it soggy fast. The mignon one had really good mignon on it, but the overall flavor was a bit lackluster. The mushroom pizza could use a bit more garlic. The Portuguese one with olive and hard boiled egg was interesting but the toppings didn't really go well with pizza, or maybe that's just not my cup of tea. I thought I would like the shrimp, but again the cream on top made it less enjoyable. Some pizzas were brought out hot and crispy, some were already lukewarm, especially when it wasn't crowded when I first sat down, so I'd imagine some pizzas would have sit there for a bit already. So it's really hit or miss. If you go for the AYCE then go when it's prime dinner time for fresher slices. The dessert pizzas were a hit for my kid. He loved the white chocolate and banana, and the chocolate with strawberry ones. I was looking forward to the pistachio one, but I couldn't taste much of the pistachio flavor. Their dough was yummy. Chewy inside and crispy outside. I wouldn't mind eating the crust at all. However it's hard to eat every piece of crust when it's AYCE... Service was great!! All the dessert pizzas were delicious but the Banana & Whitw Chocolate was one of the most unique and delicious dessert foods I have had. We went for ladies night and had the chance to enjoy their all-you-can-eat menu with 27 different pizzas (yes, even dessert pizzas!) and every single slice was incredible. I made our reservation through Open Table and appreciated the option to leave a note about both our celebration and our severe food allergies (shrimp and peanuts). It was reassuring that both the host and our server confirmed the allergies upon arrival--huge points for attention to detail and guest safety. We went for the full experience and started with drinks--my husband enjoyed his beer served in a perfectly chilled mug, and I had The Guava Breeze, which was absolutely delicious and refreshing. We were also given each a glass of complimentary prosecco to celebrate our anniversary which a very nice surprise. As for the food, the pizza was a bit of a mixed bag. The end crust was phenomenal--crispy, well-cooked, and flavorful. However, the main part of the crust under the toppings was disappointingly soggy and underbaked. That said, the pizzas that were topped with Brazilian cheese were our favorites--the cheese was creamy absolutely delicious. The ambiance was a highlight: the decor is stunning, thoughtfully designed, and even the restrooms are beautiful. It truly feels like a special night out. What really knocked a star off our experience, though, was the issue with the live music. I had confirmed through their Instagram that live music would be part of the evening--there were multiple posts featuring a new performer and scheduled dates. This was one of the main reasons we chose San Paolo. Unfortunately, there was no live music, and our server seemed unaware it had even been planned. It was disappointing, especially since there had been no update or cancellation posted to their social media. The food was amazingly high quality and delicious! For any pizza foodie this is paradise. The meats used on the pizza made it stand out as some of the best pizza I have ever had. And the crust is handmade and wood-fired, can't get much better than that. For kids, this is a guaranteed favorite activity for vacation. This was a joke right? I was being punked? From a water glass that was smeared with sausage oil and smelled like it, to a drink that was filled with granulated sugar crystals, a short poured beer (6-7oz), to a $62 pizza that was room temp, half tasting like Costco hotdogs the other half dripping with oil. It gets better, their website promises "cultural ambiance", "an immersive atmosphere that transports guests to the heart of Brazil and Italy". How? Not a single beer from Brazil. The live performance of pop / Hawaiian music from the 1970 and 1980's doesn't help. Nor do the fake plastic plants, boring uniforms of the staff and total lack of energy. With exception to the friendly hostess, NONE of the service was up to par. Being told that the food runner can't take a drink order is fine. Being told "I'll get your server" and your server never showing up is not. Neither is a server who only spends seconds with guests, taking only one diner's drink order and running off, not noticing that we placed untouched drinks and glasses on the side to ask if everything is OK and rushing away before we can say it isn't. The only other positive, the pizza CRUST is good. A total waste of potential. Not recommended. read more
