Tired building with leaking rooms when it rains, no communication while you are on the property…read moreaddressing any issues and the insults start after you leave regardless how much money they were paid, in our case we bought a second room for an unexpected fifth guest but was still charged the fifth over person fee?! The rooms look nothing like the website, there are no hardwood floors, rather pealing dirty painted cement. No comfortable throw pillows or ambient pendant lighting, no art, no fan in bath, no teak rain shower, instead you have mold, missing tiles, cracked plastic windows, doors that won't open, exposed metal on very tired make shift trundle beds ( be sure to wear shin guards ). The front desk keeper also is way too touchy feely we are still in times of COVID!

You'll freeze at night (thanks to the holes in the doors, and even if you use hair clips to close the "curtains," the air will still get in); leaks will wake you up at 5 in the morning; there are holes in the bathroom walls so you can see the guts of the building (and it's an easy entrance for bugs), it stinks of mold, the bathroom ceiling is caving in; the mattress is gross, there are enormous gaps in the ceiling, only some of which are sloppily filled with grout; there's no TV/phone/ anything (mind you the place cost about $200 a night); if you open the closet you'll add more mold funk to the space...and on and on. By the way, those little hairs and flecks of dirt in the shower in my photo? NOT MINE. (My products are in the shot. So I wanted to clarify.) Every time you tell someone in town where you're staying, their face falls and they offer pity and surprise. Since you can hear every conversation that people have while walking by, you may also hear someone say "it's the death hotel!" (True story) or its other nickname, "The ScareGurl." If you're looking for a cinder block dungeon with absolutely no comforts, amenities or pleasant environment, this spot is for you. I am not a person into camping but a tent on the beach would be better. I'm not joking. Or rent a house. Literally do anything other than stay here. My neighbor regaled me with stories of her flooded bathroom - straight up standing water throughout the entirety of her stay.

Visible from a distance, The Belvedere Guest House stands out in Cherry Grove -- a beautiful eclectic castle. The interior matches the exterior charm -- various hallways and staircases and corners to get lost in. The rooms are all different from each other -- each with its own unique theme. There are a variety of room options -- from single rooms with shared bathrooms -- to luxury rooms with balconies overlooking the bay. I stayed in what they call a standard room -- it was cozy with its own bathroom, mini-fridge, and television. It was steps from the pool and Jacuzzi. The pool is not heated, but of course the Jacuzzi is -- a great place to mingle and meet other guests. There is also an outdoor gym and an outdoor shower. I particularly enjoyed the top floor of the property -- accessible only through a spiral staircase -- its quiet and peaceful with an outdoor deck and stunning views of the bay. It's a good place to curl up and read a book, or get to know a new friend more intimately (as seems to be encouraged by the porn-playing television). The entire property is clothing optional, but at least on this off season weekend, it was far more leisurely than lascivious. And while the property is generally only open to men -- this weekend it was open to everyone. The Belvedere would be a great choice on these weekends for anyone who wants to unwind, relax, and just be themselves. My only very minor complaint was the heat in the room and property -- on a relatively cold weekend, it was a bit chilly throughout the property, and while my room did have heat, it wasn't quite enough to warm it up properly. But other than that, I found the room, as well as the property clean and well maintained. The staff was cordial and friendly, but not intrusive. And there was coffee/tea and breakfast-type muffins, danishes, etc. available in the morning. None of it is fancy, but this isn't a 5 star midtown Manhattan hotel - The Belvedere doesn't advertise itself that way. It's a guest house on Fire Island -- a very good one.

For $32.50 you get R/T LIRR, shuttle and ferry tickets. Couldn't have been easier getting out to Fire Island.. can't wait to return!

She made us feel so welcome and comfortable and even offered us a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary! Our experience was top notch, stayed at the main house employees were excellent, they provided a cart w chairs, umbrellas a lock, towels, bikes, free kayaking, water,ice free breakfast along with other locations you can use. Room was small but it's we just used it to sleep and shower. BTW shower was awsome. Spent time in the main courtyard with our friends, employees were attentive. I can also see an issue staying at the off site locations being loud. Looking forward coming back next year.

Recently renovated by new owners has transformed into a boutique hotel. The Fire Island Beach House offers beach bungalows, king standard, rooms, two queen standard rooms, duplex beach cabins and beach lounge suites. The landscaping is artificial grass or sand along with picnic tables, and lounges. They also have games for everyone, such as corn hole. What I really enjoyed was the poolside service. The servers are attentive and ready to attend you without leaving the pool area. The bar space has a laid-back beachy appeal with tables on a patio to enjoy drinks and meals. The beach is also enjoyable without the rules that exist at other Fire Island Beaches. The Hotel also provides chairs to bring onto the beach. Overall, we had a wonderful lodging experience, and we surely return next summer with family and friends.

Before I could even finish explaining that it was right next to the town, she cut me off, repeated that she didn't know, and immediately picked up the phone to disregard me. While I understand prioritizing renters, an associate should know basic details about the surrounding area, or at least offer to ask another staff member--what if a paying guest wanted to visit the Sunken Forest? I was actually considering booking a family stay here in the future, but due to this poor customer service and lack of local knowledge, I will be looking elsewhere. Otherwise, to be fair, the hotel did look nice and had a bumping scene. Hopefully they can make a better first impression on other future renters.
