Visible from a distance, The Belvedere Guest House stands out in Cherry Grove -- a beautiful eclectic castle. The interior matches the exterior charm -- various hallways and staircases and corners to get lost in. The rooms are all different from each other -- each with its own unique theme. There are a variety of room options -- from single rooms with shared bathrooms -- to luxury rooms with balconies overlooking the bay. I stayed in what they call a standard room -- it was cozy with its own bathroom, mini-fridge, and television. It was steps from the pool and Jacuzzi. The pool is not heated, but of course the Jacuzzi is -- a great place to mingle and meet other guests. There is also an outdoor gym and an outdoor shower. I particularly enjoyed the top floor of the property -- accessible only through a spiral staircase -- its quiet and peaceful with an outdoor deck and stunning views of the bay. It's a good place to curl up and read a book, or get to know a new friend more intimately (as seems to be encouraged by the porn-playing television). The entire property is clothing optional, but at least on this off season weekend, it was far more leisurely than lascivious. And while the property is generally only open to men -- this weekend it was open to everyone. The Belvedere would be a great choice on these weekends for anyone who wants to unwind, relax, and just be themselves. My only very minor complaint was the heat in the room and property -- on a relatively cold weekend, it was a bit chilly throughout the property, and while my room did have heat, it wasn't quite enough to warm it up properly. But other than that, I found the room, as well as the property clean and well maintained. The staff was cordial and friendly, but not intrusive. And there was coffee/tea and breakfast-type muffins, danishes, etc. available in the morning. None of it is fancy, but this isn't a 5 star midtown Manhattan hotel - The Belvedere doesn't advertise itself that way. It's a guest house on Fire Island -- a very good one.

We were also easily able to hop over to the other parts of the island via the water taxi. However, the highlight of the hotel is the manager/owner Lorraine. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable and even offered us a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary! The room was clean and anything not provided in the room was available at the hotel. The complimentary drinks/beach chairs/beach towels made our stay that much easier. Can't recommend this place enough!

Our experience was top notch, stayed at the main house employees were excellent, they provided a cart w chairs, umbrellas a lock, towels, bikes, free kayaking, water,ice free breakfast along with other locations you can use. Room was small but it's we just used it to sleep and shower. BTW shower was awsome. Spent time in the main courtyard with our friends, employees were attentive. I can also see an issue staying at the off site locations being loud. Looking forward coming back next year.

This hotel is conveniently located on Rt. 110 in Farmingdale. This is a relatively new hotel as it was not there 2 years ago. The cleanliness of this hotel was on point and the lobby was very inviting. We had reservations made several months prior to arriving and once we checked in, we went directly to our second floor room. Again the cleanliness of our room and bathroom were also spot onand well appointed with modern finishes. The beds were clean and comfortable. Each morning we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast adjacent to the lobby. I am not going to say that it was five star dinning but as a complimentary breakfast, it was well stocked and fresh coffee were available every morning. Some facts about Botel: 1. It is constructed completely out…read moreof cinderblocks. That includes the inside of your room, which might remind you of your dorm room in college, but with less personality or comfort. 2. Even though the Botel is a couple years old, it looks and functions like a 60s-era motel, with attendant rust stains. 3. They aren't big on privacy at the Botel. Like most Fire Island hotels, the bathroom is shared, which is expected. But your room may or may not have a lock with a key. If it does have a key, you might find your door opened anyway by another befuddled guest who was given the same key to the same room. In fact, the door to your room might not even close all the way. And if it does, someone might wander in and then try to suavely pretend that is normal and, "Nope, don't need anything, bye." 4. Your manager will claim this is not a big deal, because everyone is cool here. Residents of the island claim that stuff gets stolen from the Botel all the time. Who to believe? Nothing was taken from our room, but maybe that's because we left all of our valuables at a friend's house. 5. The beds are pretty comfortable and big. 6. The club gets quiet at 10, so thumping house won't be a problem. I'm not giving this place a one star, because I'm sure many people arrive and all they want is a place to pass out after partying until 6 am, and don't mind strangers wandering in and out. No hate on that, do your thing, but if you're wondering why this place is $100 cheaper than everything else, that's why. If you're looking to save a buck but want comfort/privacy, try AirBnB and Craigslist.
