What a train wreck! This place is sketchy at best for their business practices. When it comes to your pet's care I care I can't even say good things about that. Lot's of up-selling. Tests I agreed to that I never saw the results for. Records and documentation that was asked for and never received. Estimates altered after the fact. Took days AND talking to the owner to get it back down to the 15% over original price quoted. Everybody is sorry it happened. We'll put in new procedures. How long have they been around? It was a total bait and switch. I believe they hoped nobody would notice. Got back $275. Brought him back down for his stitch removal, got him home and they left stitches in his back. We put him on the couch and my husband took them out! In April one of the surgery sights started to fester up. We took him back, my husband thought that there still maybe a stitch. Just a scab they said. This is 3 months after the fact. They gave us nothing to put on it. It worsened. Came back AGAIN for this same issue. I guess probing for a stitch this time was warranted. This is now curb service due to Corona. Sat in the car. This time he comes out with staples!? No communication from anybody beforehand. They gave him a local and opened up the site. No stitch but MAYBE we didn't get the whole wart. Next time we'll have to take a larger area if this doesn't get better. I'm stunned. Im not paying again to have you do the job right. It was a discussion with the office people again. I think they were going to charge me to see if they left a stitch, cut him open to look and put staples in him without any conversation. I preempted that immediately. "So you consider this a follow up?" she asked. These are my conversations with these people. The last, I guess, 2 straws. As if the previous experiences weren't enough I bought him in for diarrhea (2X) and ears the same amount. It would have a 3rd for the ears but I pulled the plug after 2. For the last diarrhea I was told bring in a sample. Got it. That'll be $55 for the test. Did I EVER get a call back on that? Nope. To be honest I don't think they did it. They like multiple return trips for the same issues and will charge a office and exam charge EVERY time. My ending with this group was a conversation about the repeated "taking back and back" for same problems, receiving no printouts on services or diagnosis (last poop test) and just being told this is how much you owe us. I blew my gasket for the umpteenth time. Again they're sorry. I want his records, ALL of them! I can email those is that OK? Fine. Did I ever get anything? NOPE! Nothing. Done and done. I'd like my $55 poop test money back!! If we have to pay someone else to take out the rest of the wart, no problem. Buyer beware! We've moved on! I tried to get my dog little Italian Greyhound in to be seen for a skin condition, and have her nails clipped which she needs asap. I was told I'm two weeks out due to she's a new patient. I take my diabetic pug here and he gets great care. Nice staff; very friendly. They don't push services you don't need and they always have my dog's food in stock. Quick to call in prescriptions to the pharmacy and they didn't charge me a "professional service" fee to call in the prescription like they did at Banfield in Woodinville. The physicians and staff at Bothell Pet Hospital are some of the most caring people you will ever meet. I trusted them with the final visit for my elderly dog Hunter. Dr. Song treated Hunter with dignity and as gently as if she were a new puppy. The staff went out of their way to comfort me and let me stay in the room with her as long as I wanted to, which meant the world to me. A week or so later I received a sympathy card in the mail that appeared to be signed by all of the staff members in the office, each added a personal message even though they had never met me before that day. They made paw prints for me, which I totally forgot to ask for. I love this place. Dr. Kovar is my favorite and I appreciate the fact that she respects my decision to raise dogs as naturally as possible and doesn't push vaccines and other drugs on my dogs. We do medicate when necessary, but prefer a more natural approach. She has performed an amputation of a limb of a dog of mine that had cancer, and administered chemo therapy, performed bladder surgery on one of my cats who had bladder stones and did a vulva lift on my older Golden Retriever which has helped with what we called the "black cooch", but now the urine clears and my dog is so much more comfortable. read more

It's really sad to make this review but also I was super pleased about the experience. We have lived in Bothell for decades, my family and all and we absolutely love animals. We take them here all the time, including if we randomly need to board the smaller ones. Unfortunately one of our sweet lady cats is diabetic and as time went on, she obtained all sorts of weird health issues. Not sure but nothing seemed to really work for her and I told my mom we need to just stop putting money into things that aren't working. We kept her on insulin for her diabetes and did special food and care for her but I didn't like adding in more drugs for this sweet kitty. She was a super happy cat, loved cuddling all the time, rubbed her head and body all over us despite her health issues. We've had her since she was a baby. Sad to say, we had to put her down, in the end. A very hard day for the family as this was our last female kitty (she was 14). I don't think my mom really liked the feeling she got when we were going to take her off insulin for a week - we couldn't help it. My mom had to go on a trip, my dad always works so he couldn't inject her twice or even once a day, my sister and I also couldn't because we worked off hours and every day. There was no way to coordinate injecting the cat without my mom - and we've taken her off before but this time there was kind of a weird feeling. Oh well, it's our cat and our choice. The entire week she was totally fine. We always watched her when we could and gave her lots of love like usual. Unfortunately a day or two after my mom returned and please keep in mind my mom started her insulin up the DAY she returned, the poor kitty just lost all energy. Not sure how this could happen so quick but it was her time, I guess. The ENTIRE week with us she was totally fine, had a little back up with her food but I would give her some treats too, not a crazy amount, and we watched her like a hawk. But all of a sudden I'm told she had to be put down and I was shocked that she just collapsed in front of my mom. I was at work and in a panic to get home ASAP to see my precious kitty one last time. We kept her comfortable but for any pet owner that doesn't see them as just some pet, it was tear jerking and hard to watch her until we could take her as a family to put her down and say goodbye. The experience at the vet was great. The vet/doctor was super calm and peaceful, comforting us. The greatest part is that we cremated her and I have her safe with me - but the vet lady said she could even stamp paw prints for us. Wonderful! I never knew they did that and this was such a beautiful surprise. This cat was special...very special - she was our baby and the Queen of the house. After the hard moments of letting her go, we got her special box back really quick. Another surprise and happy feel, and with a heart felt sweet personalized card signed by all the staff! I have her box, card, and paw prints with me. :') Thank you Bothell Vet Clinic for keeping our animals up, we definitely have a zoo! I loved how helpful you all were, how sympathetic, how calm and peaceful, and loving you were towards us. Our cat is in kitty heaven and lived an amazing life. When we adopted our first greyhound, he had had an eye removed due to end-stage glaucoma and, shortly thereafter, been attacked by another dog. (He was having a really bad month.) Since Dr Cleveland had been treating him, we took him there for follow-up. That was in 1998, and we've been taking all our dogs there ever since. They've done it all -- routine health care, major surgeries, minor owies, and compassionate euthanasia when it was time. They do a lot of work for a local greyhound adoption group, so they're very sighthound-savvy. All the vets, techs, and office staff are great. They help me decide what a pet needs from the pet's perspective of quality of life based on so many factors including age and other physical needs. Helped me through the cancer diagnosis and palliative care for my 18yo cat and many other pets' needs, sometimes urgent care needs. I've never been turned away. I have been going here for 10 years and unfortunately the service has steadily deteriorated. The staff in particular is not professional and often rude. They show no respect and are borderline abusive. When we called to make appointments for our dogs they refused to make more than one at time because three years ago we were unable to make our appointment. They lectured us about this every time we call like we were some miscreants that really they shouldn't have to deal with because we missed an appointment three years ago. This is just a sample of the BS that this staff will put you through. They are extremely mismanaged and offensive to their customers. I notice similar reviews here about the deterioration of what was once a wonderful veterinary clinic with pleasant helpful staff into the present highly unpleasant staff. Do yourself a favor and find another vet unless you are masochistic and like to be abused while shelling out hundreds of dollars for services. I see from other reviews that the clinic was sold a few years ago to new owners. That makes sense since it was around that time that I began to experience a very different clinic from the one I had valued for many years. Bill Cleveland was my first Vet but I've had all of them over the 9-10years I've been going there. I've had routine and very serious problems all addressed with great care. I had to give up on one of my very special dogs and Bill Cleveland was fanastic how he handled it and helped me thru it. He thanked me for doing everything possible for her and this remark has sustained me. Shannon Smith once said another of dogs, with serious problems, " ' was lucky to have me as her owner' " Remarks like these help on the emotional side of owning sick or injured dogs which are part of your family. I had high hopes for continuing to bring our new pet here but, sadly, it's been awful. At first, we loved Bothell Pet Hospital because they were the only vet who would agree to cut our cats nails without a full exam every time. Every time we took her they treated her great. About a month ago, we adopted a dog and decided to bring him in to this vet since we already brought our cat. The exam with the vet was useless. She had no information or suggestions. When we asked how to work with our dog and introducing him to the cats she told us to google it. When we asked if she had any thoughts on his breed her response was, "I don't know." She didn't play with the dog, didn't show excitement for caring for the dog... it was disappointing. We just took our dog back for a booster shot and were told at our previous appointment it would be $18. We were charged $43. When we told them we were quoted $18 for the booster the receptionist said, "it's $18 for the vet fee and the rest is for the vaccine." So my husband lightly said, "maybe it's time for a new vet." And the receptionist said, "let me know if you need me to transfer any records." Wow. Between the vet and the receptionist, we will definitely be looking elsewhere to find a vet who will actually care for our dog and make him feel comfortable while there. The vet techs are great here but unless they are all going to take over and run the show, the front desk staff and actual vets leave too much to be desired. read more

I have two Persian cats and both have been seen here since I got them. Dr. Cleveland is wonderful, generous, and earnestly loves animals. This is the only place that I'm 110% sure will treat my cats like their own. The frost desk staff are also friendly and helpful. They are nice enough - but a modern clinic that treats symptoms by using tests and meds $$$. I like the old school vets who know what's going on with your pets by asking questions, feeling and looking and listening. Modern day vets aren't trained on prevention they are trained - like human docs - to treat symptoms and keep them coming back. Sad world we live in... we lost a kitty because their "test" said negative... when our second sister-kitty became ill we insisted that they disregard the test and treat - and low and behold she improved!! If I could I would give them 6 out of 5 stars! I just had the most amazing experience at Bothell Pet Hospital. I took my rescue greyhound Bubu to see Dr. Kovar. We recently adopted Bubu from Greyhound Pets Inc. in Woodinville Washington. Greyhound Pets Inc. uses their services regularly so Bubu had been seen there several times already. I wanted to stay with BPH even though I live in Bremerton. They have experience with greyhounds and they understand how to work with rescues. At any rate, the entire process was so seamless: getting information off the website, calling for an appointment, receiving timely confirmation messages, checking in, being seen, checking out. First of all the website is very informative and organized. Second, I did call a few different times because I had several questions and every time I called somebody promptly answered the phone (never went into a voicemail) and each time I called the staff were friendly and informative. My appointment time was 2 o'clock. I arrived about 15 minutes early and they seriously were so on top of things that by the time I got inside the clinic, the doctor was ready for me. Everyone along the way was uber organized and friendly and professional. It went smoothly and I was just so grateful that they were able to take care of my Bubu without any issues. When they were done I looked at my watch and it was 2:17!!! I seriously wish all my appointments were this easy. I highly recommend Bothell Pet Hospital. read more

My family has been bringing our pets to Bothell Pet Hospital as long as I can remember. When I was a kid we brought in our cats, then I convinced my parents to get a dog and we brought her in too. When I grew up and moved out I got two dogs of my own, and I tried to find a vet that was closer to me in downtown Seattle. I just keep returning to Bothell Pet Hospital after bad experiences at every other vet I've been to and now I simply refuse to go anywhere else. I wholeheartedly trust the team there and they've never given my pets anything but the absolute best quality care, unlike many other vets I've been to who seem to have other motives and try to push you into the most expensive options regardless of what is best for your pet. The vet team at Bothell Pet Hospital has cried tears with me together on the day when I finally had to put my sweet greyhound to sleep, and shared a happy day when my little terrier mutt made a full recovery from paralysis after a slipped disc in his back. They've worked with me to try and solve my pit bull's mystery allergies, squeezed in a last minute appointment for us when she chewed on the wall in my apartment and started throwing up, and they even put up with my long phone calls asking why my other dog isn't eating his food. They really genuinely care about the animals and work with you to find solutions that work for both you and your pets. They always investigate throughly and present all options to you in a clear and concise way. I'm writing this review because my experience has nearly brought me to tears a couple times. We've bounced around from vet to vet, as everyone knows finding a good one seems so unnecessarily difficult. Our most recent vet is working extremely limited hours due to COVID and our sweet chocolate lab had to be seen so we went to Bothell Pet Hospital. Our experience has been surreal. Bonnie at the front desk is so personable and never makes us feel rushed. The tech who came out to our car was kind and gentle, he commented on what a beautiful and good boy our dog is. Dr. Harman was amazing. We came in on a Saturday shortly before they closed. They did everything they could to take care of our boy, even sent records over the the ER in the event we had to go in on Sunday. Dr. Harman said she would personally be monitoring her email on Sunday in the event the report on xrays came in sooner. We feel so prioritized, remembered, and confident that our sweet pup is in great hands. We couldn't be more grateful! read more

I'm a huge fan of Bothell pet hospital. Not only did they take great care of my 2 cats but they meticulously cared for our new Yorkie puppy when we got her 2 years ago. We recently decided to relocate from Bothell to London. Bothell Pet Hospital staff were stellar in our international relocation, flawlessly handling all of the necessary DEFRA requirements and paperwork with ease. (I can say that I didn't have that same experience with another clinic in Florida; our paperwork wasn't accurate and it could've cost us dearly at Heathrow). The staff there are wonderful, friendly, and always eager to help. When our cat Pooh died a year ago we even received a hand-written card from her vet expressing her sadness. I honestly wouldn't trust any other vet with our Yorkie and the only reason we'll have to is because of our recent move. I have always had great experience at this office. They did a fantastic job of caring for my extremely ill cat and when the veterinarian found out that my husband and I were struggling financially she knocked our bill down quite significantly in order to help our cat. She went above and beyond the call of duty, even going so far as to give us her cellphone number in case anything went wrong while she was at home. Wonderful bedside manner from all of the veterinarians that work here. When my golden retriever needed an emergency spleenectomy, The receptionist was so nice and told me to bring our dog right in. It is wonderful to find a safe haven that takes the time to listen and advise without judgement, opinion or bias. I nearly had to have my dog put down a few weeks ago and my first visit there was one of emergency, never a good beginning. I was new to the area and a wonderfully kind and gentle neighbor who loves animals as I do, suggested I go there. While I trusted his advice, I was heartsick at the thought of a group of strangers administering the last rites to my beloved old dog of 14 years. I couldn't have been more wrong. Yes, they were strangers, but they were the kind of warm and empathetic people that you want with you in a crisis. For two days, I vacillated after leaving that first morning with my dog in my arms. I rescheduled the following day, only to cancel a few hours later. I fretted, I watched, I cried. I waited. He wasn't sick, just old. I didn't know what to do and the vet and staff did the best thing anyone can do for you when facing a profoundly personal decision like this. They let me decide with no hint of preconceived notions, conventional wisdom or quality-of-life judgements. I have owned and put down pets before and the staff there seemed to intuitively understand that when it came time, I would do what was best for us. As it turned out, that time was, happily, not right now. My dog continues to enjoy his life. He's hungry, happy and has perfected the art of the snooze. In fact, our pup is notoriously accident prone and spends a fair amount of time seeing his friends at the clinic for various injuries. This post is long overdue. One morning months ago, I was in bed with a migraine. Our beloved family dog, a 4 year old yellow lab named Addie came into the bedroom to tell me something was not right. There was brown liquid coming out of an area that shouldn't be. Long story short, we called our vet to be told they couldn't see us, but the description sounds like it could be Pyometra which is a deadly disease of the uterus and we needed to get to an emergency vet immediately or she could die. We learned Pyometra happens rather suddenly and there are roughly 24-48 hours before death (often compared to acute appendicitis in humans). We ended up NOT finding Bothell Pet Hospital immediately and experienced some very unfortunate and nearly fatal experiences elsewhere. Running on adrenaline with a migraine in process, I was in tears trying to find a surgeon that would be able to take her before it was too late. We found Dr. Lesley Kovar and her staff in the nick of time. They were the epitome of an honest, caring and professional veterinarian hospital. My son was so happy he cried when we picked Addie up to take her to overnight care. They saved our dog's life. Dr. Lesley Kovar even made the arrangements for the necessary overnight care and it too was less than 1/3rd of other overnight care facilities. She even offered to watch Addie overnight herself. Her referral was top-notch and gave our dog, Addie the I.V. and pain killers she needed to make it through the night. All of this and the surgery charges were far less than the nightmare story experienced earlier that day. As if we couldn't be more happy with their work, it's worth noting that Lesley donates her time to a animal rescue mission called Sara's Sanctuary. She loves her work, the animals know it, and we're grateful. Our dog is alive and well today because of this vet hospital. That was our experience. June 2014 My dog was old and sick acting a little off took her in got several tests done thought maybe she was diabetic..800 dollars later turns out that right before almost injecting my best friend with insulin she was not diabetic lucky they did a quick blood sugar test... but no answers.. anyways the main point here is my dog was old and she was dying. She starts throwing up not eating I know it the end but i take her in and the doctor coldly says its time are you ready.... I was a taken back and I just wast ready i said please can i have one more night the doctor was obviously judging me and i could tell wanted to say no ..... but i went to the front desk to make my appointment and the chipper very cheery front desk woman asked me what time was best smiling which im sorry but seemed a little inappropriate considering i had to put my dog down.. The next day i ask if they can come to me to put her down in the back yard they said yes for an extra 150 dollars i said ok (the fact that they were willing to come to me is about the only reason im giving 2 stars) Anyways the kicker is I told the receptionist three times very clearly and stressing the point that my address to come to was not my billing address but a different one and i told her the address three times.... its time for the vet to come but she is late so i give a call and ask if she has left a very chipper woman says yes should only be 10min...... 20min later the vet calls and says there is no answer at the door she is knocking on ....... she drove all the way to shoreline at my apartment instead of the address of my child hood home 5 min away from the clinic in bothell which i supplied to the vets receptionist at least 3 times..... I wouldn't have minded so much had my dog not been in my arms slowly deing and shaking in pain and she had to wait about an hour longer than she was supposed to for relief..... My previous vet told me that my cat needed to have her teeth exrayed. After I bought her to Bothell Pet Hospital Dr. Kovar said she didn't need the exrays. Dr. Kovar was very nice. A few months later, I think, my cat Poppy had a serious infection. She seemed to be sneezing. They gave her an antibiotic injection and she immediately improved. Dr. Kovar said she thought Poppy had cancer. The spot where my previous vet had pulled her canine tooth had not healed. Dr. Kovar put her out and cleaned out a hole between where her tooth was and her sinus's. She tried to stitch up the hole in the roof of her mouth, but the stitch came out. Poppy felt much better after that. I do remember at that time that I was sent an estimate and it probably was the wrong one. I remember it was less than $200. Then the day before her surgery I got another estimate that was over $700 - what the heck I thought. I did ask about that and told the doctor I didn't want her to do everything on the list. Lately everytime I contact them they want me to wait days until Dr. Kovar contacts me. I've told them I would be fine seeing another vet. Poppy urinated on me last week so I sent an email, which is what Dr. Kovar told me to do. The next day someone called me and said that my note would be shown to Dr. Kover the following Tuesday which was 5 days away. Usually when a cat does that it is because of a urinary tract infection and it needs to be treated. Finally someone contacted me and said that because of my previous aggressive behavior none of the staff would work with me and out of 6 vets only Dr. Kovar would help me. That was a shock. Most reasonable adults will talk over any kind of problem and make an attempt to work it out. Not at Bothell Pet Hospital. I had no idea. I've been bringing my 9 year old Beagle/Terrier here for the past 2 years after moving and not being happy with her former vet. We've had nothing but good experiences here. They don't push products or procedures, but lay out all your options and give recommendations. My dog was abused as a pup and has some serious stranger-danger issues but does surprisingly well here. The vets get down on the floor with her so she doesn't have to stand on the strange, cold, scary table! Sometimes simple courtesies go a long way. read more

Nice and friendly staff. We have been taking our dog to Dr. Smith for about 3 years now. She is very gentle with animals and we appreciate her kindness. We also find their fees pretty affordable. read more

Update to my previous review of Bothell Pet Hospital, Dr. Kovar: I have found a new vet in the Bothell area. After examining Harley Jo the new Vet asked if I was aware of the problem with his teeth. Huh? Yes, she showed me the decay. Apparently examining teeth isn't part of a check up at Bothell Pet Hospital. To make a long story short he had to have 12 extractions. Great job Dr Kovar. Epic FAIL! read more

I've used this vet in the past for my cat. Care was OK but price has more than doubled since two years ago. Two years ago I paid $74 for a wellness check. Today I paid $207 for the same service. Wow. That's more than double. I'll be looking for a different vet for next time. read more

I've been taking my two parrots here for the past 2 years, but I just called and they no longer see parrots. Sucky. So, 1 star for that. 5 stars on the friendly receptionist who gave me a few numbers of other vets who do specialize in exotics. Average em' out, I'll give it a solid 2.5 stars. read more

My mom and I brought my childhood dog here years ago and I just moved back to this area so I figured I would take my pets here. It was a little trip down memory lane as soon as I walked in the door, and I ended up in the same room with the same vet (Dr. Kovar), which nearly brought tears to my eyes as my mom and my childhood dog are no longer with us I have had two emergency situations with my dog in the last month, and both times they got me in that same day. Every staff member I met was polite, knowledgeable and incredibly sweet to me and my dog. I'm SO glad we moved back to the Eastside so I can bring my pets here. read more
