This store is on my way home, so i stop by from time to time. It's tight in there, every available spot is filled with liquor. Their volume buying is what makes their prices better than most booze outposts. Their selection of firewater is vast and not your usual suspects. Of course they have all the favorites, but it's their selection of local booze and beer that draws me in. I can get my sunshine moonshine from here instead of driving to Ybor, for local made rotgut. I don't need help in a liquor store so customer service isn't a priority for me, just ring it up and I'm gone. I'll keep coming back for their great selection of random local breweries and distilleries. Do yourself a favor and just swing by and check out the prices. read more

I enjoy having new experiences with trying new beers and the Bottle Rack is available in my neighborhood. They have a vast selection of beers to check out. Not just beers but they also have a great selection of liquor to choose from! Why three stars, they're so crammed with glass bottles that it's impossible to walk freely and have signs on no hoodies, large bags or purses. This store is large with a good variety & is under a mile from my house but I'd gladly drive further to ANY other store. There is no website or phone number to find out if they carry something. In addition, the employees are consistently unfriendly & sometimes quite rude. Also, there is a sign on the door that they don't allow purses or goodies. The owner is one of the rudest person in there he makes you feel like he's doing you a favor walked in by four bottles of wine plus a bottle of tequila and then I asked him if he had crown royal. He was wearing a crown royal T-shirt and he was very rude to me told me he didn't didn't sell it but the way he talk to me was very condescending to a voice plus I wanted some cigars. Short and simple. One star because that is the least amount that I can give. Great selection of import/craft beer, but the prices were absolutely ridiculous. Be sure to check the use by/born on dates. They're selling Christmas been in September, which makes me think that they are quite aged. During checkout, the clerk broke one of my beers while bagging. As he tried to put the foaming beer back in to the container and send me on my way, I said, "I'll just go grab another...". I came back with the single replacement and he made me go back to get the full 6 pack. Then he had to call his boss to let them know that he broke a beer. Trust much? While waiting for the whole ordeal to transpire, I watched the same employee tell a young couple walking in the door to leave because the woman walked in with a purse. They didn't come back, and I can't say that I blame them. As a result, I won't be back. I've read other reviews here on Yelp, and they have been solidly bad for the past five years. I have now visited this place twice. If you are searching for that hard to find alcohol then this place may have it. I have a knack for being in the mood for that seasonal beer that isn't currently in season. These guys have an impressive selection for a local store. The three stars is because the do have a bit of a don't care if you buy here or not atmosphere. Two big signs on the front doors say no purses or bags allowed in the store. I assume they have had some inventory walk out the door unpaid for so I get it but it just comes across a little aggressive. The other issue I've had is that their credit card machine seems to have been down both times I was visiting. Both times it took 20 minutes plus to get it fixed. So overall I will probably go back to Publix liquor store across the street unless I have to have that hard to find beer. read more

Rude AF! If I could give this place less than one star, I would. No one should patronize this establishment. I just left there. Upon entering, I asked two men in black masks standing around (twice), if they worked there because I needed assistance buying an item in a locked case. Both men said no (although one was behind the register and the other was just standing at the front of an aisle?). Completely rude, unhelpful, and not friendly at all. What I find a odd about this liquor store is the guy out front acting like a bouncer, along with the sign on the door announcing no bags of any kind are allowed inside. First impressions are important, and this store is rather lacking with the customer-experience vibe. Service is often slow, as I have waited for several minutes to pay more than once. But we still shop here when we're in the area. This liquor store has a warehouse-type feel with an enormous selection organized by liquor type. They even have special pricing on some items. I don't think I've ever encountered worse customer service in a store. The whole "can't bring a purse in" is ridiculous. I walked in with a tiny purse, slightly larger than a large wallet and was immediately screamed at - screamed, mind you - You can't come in here with that! I was so taken aback, I looked around thinking this employee was talking to someone else, not me. Yes, shoplifting is a problem. But the rest of the world deals with it with vigilant employees that walk around the establishment and keep an eye on things. While I'm on the subject of employees, how about also hiring people who engage with customers and actually say hello -- staring with the store manager, who is incredibly rude. Attention Citrus Park / Carrollwood shoppers.... there is a new liquor store in town, and it's definitely worth checking out on your next shopping trip along Gunn Highway! Bottle Rack has opened in the former Sonny's BBQ restaurant building across the street from the Super Wal-Mart along Gunn Highway at the corner of Anderson Road. Bottle Rack used to be located elsewhere in Carrollwood, but moved into this location a while back. Bottle Rack is still settling into the former barbeque restaurant, so expect to see workers stocking bottles onto the shelves. A section of the store is still hidden behind a sheet of plastic, and I suspect that this is being converted into a storeroom. But no matter as you'll find plenty on the shelves to keep you busy. As you walk through the doors, the area to your right is rows and rows of liquor bottles. Every conceivable type, brand, size, and color of label is stocked on their shelves. To the left are the rows of wine, and though the selection is not as robust as other Bay area wine shops, you'll be hard-pressed not to find a bottle of vino to go with dinner. Across the back wall of the Bottle Rack store are the shelves of beer - all the well-known big brands as well as dozens and dozens of craft beers. I like the fact that in addition to buying pre-packaged 6-packs of many different beers, you can also buy individual bottles and build-your-own sampler 6-packs. Go ahead and mix up Dogfish Head, Harpoon, CCB, Shock Top, Magic Hat, and Leinenkugel. In the front of the store you'll find their humidor with a nice selection of cigars, and behind the counter are all of their airplane mini bottles. The improvement is needed in their customer service. I entered the store but was in a rush so I didn't notice the "No Purse, No Bags, No Exceptions" sign. So once I walked through the doors the cashier instantly stopped me and said "Ma'am, no purses." Every business has their own way of dealing with theft and loss prevention, so I get it, but that's not exactly inviting. When walking around the easy-to-navigate isles, it's hard to imagine it was once a Sonny's BBQ restaurant. There are virtually no remnants of it at all. I was expecting to smell of smoked hickory, but much to my dismay it did not. What it did have was a pretty impressive selection of spirits, and most of the prices are on point too. I even saw a few items that are new to me. For example, bulk bottles of Maker's Mark, Bullet Rye and a Florida Rum called Wicked Dolphin. C'mon now, that is hilarious. PROS Prices are great, and comparable to Luken's with some items cheaper and other more expensive. Selection is good on all sides, but lacks a bit with beer. Excellent looking humidor stocked with stogies. CONS Humidor is kept locked, and if the guy at the register is busy, you're not getting in. Lacking on Florida brews!! If you like to get tipsy, I think this place is worth a shot. I will probably be heading back to pick up a bottle of Scotch as a Christmas gift to someone, so maybe I will actually be able to get into the humidor next time. read more

My favorite part is when you ask for a price on an item behind the counter and the reply is " You get that beer at $25 but only if you spend $50 in the store." Historically I have shopped here many times. After my experience today I will never return. They have marked up the prices on all of the mid to top shelf bourbon. I inquired to see if they were under new management or owners and they are not. Here are some examples. While this place has a good selection and decent prices, I can no longer recommend them at all, because customer service is so terrible. The owner is a total a-hole to both customers and his staff, and he is completely paranoid about people stealing from him. You can't even go into the cigar humidor, unless the cashier walks in and stays with you, so if there's other people in the store, you just have to wait forever. My wife was told she couldn't come in with her purse because "no bags are allowed". I keep giving them chance after chance because I live so close, but no longer. I've tried to go by there in the afternoon a couple times this month, including today, only to find a piece of cardboard on the door, saying that they will be back shortly. I had a small cross body wallet (that I bring in with me every time, enough to hold my card, keys, phone) and was harassed by a male worker about it and told I had to put it back in my car. I was also harassed about wearing a hoodie. Mind you it's in the 50's today in Tampa. What's worse is they don't offer any bags at check out. They have a nice large selection for all your libation needs. Clean and well organized but prices seemed higher than some. I actually prefer ABC wine store in Carrollwood but this is closer to home. I really like this place...they used to be Discount Liquor and moved to into an old Sonny's restaurant that hadn't been used for quite some time. I'm glad to see the move finally have taken place, it seemed to take forever for them to situated into the new bldg. The always have good prices and plenty of variety (they do seem to be short of a few things but will catch up soon). The people running it have always been very nice and great with assisting me when I asked question about specific drinks or liquors. I'm definitely glad to see them back, it's only a block away and I can walk there if I want to....YEAH!!!! read more
