Great experience all around. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Many tables in a cozy; Ethiopian adorned interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly and welcoming service. I had Doro Wat with 2 veggies. It is served with injera. The food was flavorful and presented well. I recommend to anyone who hasn't tried this cuisine. It is not spicy or odd. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Come in with friends or date or even by yourself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They will explain the menu and make you feel comfortable. I will come back next time I'm in the area.

The best Ethiopian food in Tampa! Another restaurant where you walk in as a customer and leave as family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant's decor is a collection of cultural artifacts depicting Ethiopian heritage and history.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner is so welcoming and always standing by to help those that may not be familiar with Ethiopian food. She is sharing her culture through her amazing food, one Injera at a time. We enjoyed both vegetable and beef sambusas, a vegetarian platter for two, Chef's Tibbs, and the very flavorful Ethiopian sweet tea. It was not the first time I have been to Mitmita's and it will definitely not be my last.

My husband and I visited a had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and [[HIGHLIGHT]]its a cute restaurant with lots of culture present.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was incredibly flavorful and we're planning on bringing our family when they come to visit. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE could not recommend enough.

This food is the closest thing to magic that I have experienced!!!!! Tried twice and have loved every moment! Go early and often, or late and frequent! Can't go wrong!

As always, this is my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Tampa Bay, and I always get the Lamb Tibbs, they are the most flavorful! Athena is the owner, along with her husband Terr, and their beautiful daughter Makeda. I've been coming here for years, have worked here myself, and can absolutely say that if you want to have dinner, this is one stop you'll have to make. And do not forget to try the honey wine, and following your dinner, a cup of the most delicious coffee. THE ABSOLUTE BEST COFFEE (ask about their coffee ceremony ).

The Basics: Mitmita is an Ethiopian restaurant located in the Carrollwood area of Tampa. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is a casual spot for some very delicious food. Things I like: I enjoyed all of the food we tried! The Sambusa was very flavorful and not greasy at all. The Beef and Lamb Tibbs were also good, but we preferred the lamb over the beef. The vegetables are my favorite part and four different kinds came with the meat dishes. The food was fresh and flavorful and the service was also great. Things I didn't like: Some of the beef pieces were pretty fatty and inedible. We preferred the lamb over the beef for this reason. I also wish a larger variety of vegetables came with the meat dishes. Overall, great Ethiopian food and a good business to support! I will certainly be back to try more variety here.

After trying Queen of Sheeba I decided to give Ethiopian food another shot, like they say, always get a 2nd opinion. This place is located in strip center on W. Linebaugh Ave.. Mitmita seemed more authentic but I really have no way of knowing. The food was fresher but was also spicier. You get 2 Sambusa for $3 whereas the other place was $5 for one. I was right to think that the Queen place overpriced and not worth the money. I should haved rated them lower. The Sambusa here were better as well. The dish I had was Ye-Doro Watt and while spelled different was the same dish as I had at the other place. While flavors were similar, the food at Mitmita was obviously much better quality, was fresher and was a better value all around. I had the same wonderful beer and service here was better and quicker. While I am a novice on this type of cuisine, I know enough to reccomend this place over the other. There is not much of an ambiance here though. This kind of food is just not for me.

After several years, I finally had Ethiopian food again and Mitmita's did not disappoint! We arrived right at opening time and the owner was so friendly and helpful in guiding us in our choices, especially since it was my fiancé's first time trying this cuisine. I had a glass of the honey wine and thoroughly enjoyed it; not too sweet and perfect alcohol taste. We split an appetizer of beef samosas and will need two orders of that next time. Then we got a chicken and beef entrée. It was so delicious along with the various veggie sides that came with it. One of the sides had beets and I'm not typically a fan of beets, but these were good! This is the place to go if you're going to treat yourself out to eat. It won't be a disappointment where you wish you just ate at home and saved your money. We will definitely be back over and over.

I see why this place has five stars on yelp. It's phenomenal! I came on a Wednesday for lunch and although I was the only customer, I was not deterred by the lack of patrons. Family owned and operated, I was warmly greeted immediately upon arrival. Both employees with whom I had contact were genuinely kind and friendly. I started with the Sumbussa's and I picked the beef. It was so good, crispy, and flavorful that I immediately ordered the chicken. Boom--equally scrumptious. I seriously can't recommend one over the other, so Get BOTH! For my lunch I opted for the vegetarian platter, which includes lentils, corn, beans and carrots, greens, and beets and potatoes. Now let me tell you, I've never met a beet I've liked but these were actually good! The potatoes helped. Lastly, the Ethiopian beer is light and boasts a 5.5 abv. It's an ale and definitely goes well with the spice of the meal. I will look forward to returning!!

Mitmita has gotten stellar reviews on Yelp, so I was excited to finally be in the area at lunch time. I ordered in person, and the woman helping me provided some good insight as to what to try. The dining room was empty at noon on a Friday, so there was plenty of parking in the strip mall parking lot out front. I ended up with an order of the vegetable sambusa and the Ye-doro Tibbs, which was chicken marinated with garlic. All the lunch meals came with either ice tea or lemonade, so I got the lemonade, which was good, but super sweet. I had groceries in the car, so the server was kind enough to bring my food order to my car when it was ready. I thought the food had a unique and tasty flavor, served as it was on a bed of injera bread (crepes made from teff, a cereal grain and barley, rich in iron and unique to Ethiopia) and topped with another serving of injera to scoop the food with. I did wish the food was a bit more interesting, though, especially the sides. It was honestly kind of a boring meal, which is surprising for Ethiopian food. My favorite part was actually the sambusas - deep fried and very crunchy and so full of flavor I didn't even need the dipping sauce. I definitely will be back and attempt to be a bit more adventurous with my ordering.

They also have a lot of sales and a rewards program. They recently renovated the entire store and it looks amazing! Daniell, Christian, Robert and Anthony are the best! They are all so knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you find exactly what you're looking for. My favorite part about this store is the wine tastings! Daniell does such an amazing job setting this up every month with so many tasty wines & other beverages to try. I come every single month to try new items and stock up on my liquor & wine for the month. I've been coming to these longer than I can count, since before they paused it during COVID. It's gotten so much better since Daniell took over! You can tell she puts a lot of time into the selections, makes printed guides for what's available to try, and comes up with mixed drinks & recipes. It's always been such a hit and what brings everyone I know into the store, but lately it has been too inconsistent. I used to rely on it being every single month on the last Thursday, but now that it's not monthly, I never know when it is. I don't usually make it into the store outside of these tastings, so there is no way for me to know when they are. When it was consistent, I had it planned out every month. I'm very disappointed they decided to do it less often. It seems like this is the only reason not as many people have been showing up lately. It used to be packed when it was every month. Please bring it back! I'd much rather have a price increase than no monthly wine tasting at all.

All of the employees are awesome! Daniell has become more than our wine lady, she is now our wine mom. We look forward to seeing her every monthly wine tasting. We don't come just for the tasting, we come to see her and all the work she puts into it! She picks out the best wines to try. When Robert is at the tastings, we aren't just trying new products. We are learning and listening to his amazing stories about his travels. Bethany picked a tequila for us to try that was the best I've ever had at a tasting. Anthony is ready with our tasting glasses and to ring us up as soon as we walk in. He's always helpful with any questions we have. You may be able to tell that we only go in the store during the tastings, it's when we get to try new products and purchase our wine and liquor for the month. The fact that it's been so irregular lately is disappointing. It was always so popular when it was happening regularly, now no one knows when it's happening. This is the only reason for the 4 starts and not all 5. Please do us all a favor and keep the wine tastings monthly!

This store is awesome. They host paint nights and serve samples of alcoholic slushies and any bottle of wine they sell. That's right! Like the look of something but don't want to buy it, take it home, and end up hating it? Ask them for a sample. Everything is open bottle. So convenient! One lady told me that the mall even allows you to sip your slushies in the building, because they're inconspicuous and contain about the same alcohol percentage as a beer. And, let me tell you, they are tasty! They have a Grinch-themed one for Xmas right now. :) Unquestionably, my favorite thing about this place is their discounts! The first time I purchased from here, I got about 15% off the two bottles I purchased. This time, when I asked for a discount on two $15 bottles of wine, the staff member reminded me that they normally only give case discounts, buuuuuuut she'd only charge me $10.95 for each bottle this time. So I bought four. Now that's a great deal!
