I wanted to like this place, but the prices really were a major turn off. The food was reasonable, but when I got my bill ($39 for $6 pretzels, a cider, and a beer flight) I was shocked. Not only did they not have the prices of their alcohol advertised (or else not clearly advertised), $33 for essentially two drinks makes going out here completely outrageous. This is literally my favorite bar ever. We shamelessly come here like three times a week. Food is delish and cheap. I always get the hot chicken bites, mild, and we share an order of brew fries. They finally started brewing their own beers and they're awesome. Can't go wrong with the chocolate stout. Johnny and the brewer (I can't remember his name for the life of me) are awesome. Made a visit to Bottlenose on a Friday night with some friends. Started off with fried pickles which were delicious and my favorite beer, Mango Wit. After that we all ordered the chicken and fries, mine was the Nashville hot chicken. I didn't enjoy the chicken, the breading wasn't very flavorful and it was a tad overcooked but he fries were amazing. We went yesterday(Thurs.) at around 6:30ish. We sat ourselves and was promptly handed more food menus and a beer list. The place overall has a very welcoming vibe, even with a 3yr old in tow. We went up to the bar to place our orders, a bacon cheese burger, the sunrise burger, with sides of fries and fried pickles. I opted for a delicious peppermint stout on tap. It was a hard decision with all the local beers offered. The prices are pretty reasonable ranging from $4.50 to $6.75. Before we knew it about 10/15 min... our food was served. The burgers were on the small side and pretty basic in toppings.... however cooked to perfection with great flavor. I will say that the pricing is fair for the portions though. The fried pickles are hands down my fav. The pickles were not overly salty like most places and it was more pickle than breading. They place got busier as we played bored games. The crowd was a good mix of 20 to 30 somethings all casual. I definitely will keep this place in my rotation due to the friendliness of both bartenders and patrons. Popped in there last night (Tuesday) because of Yelp reviews. They had great trivia and a cool atmosphere with lots of TV's to watch the game. The beer (all local FL) was cold and they had plenty to choose from. The wait staff was friendly and happy to assist. The food was great and very reasonably priced; the Nashville Hot Chicken is great, not greasy nor overly breaded - it's a must get; also had the Brat with bacon & cheese - not as exciting as the chicken but good nonetheless. We are visiting from Texas so wanted something casual for dinner after a long day out. This place is definitely more of a brewery/bar environment (they only serve beer no liquor) but don't let that fool you. They have a decent sized food option as well & the food was out of this world great. Highly suggest the swamp fries!! Wish we had one closer to us back home but this will definitely be a must go to spot anytime we are in town. Really? This place is horrible! Service sucks and the food is even worse. Came for trivia and left early to eat. Had some appetizers and they were really bad. Went across the street to grab some food. They don't have any of their own beer. They should be a beer house not a brewery. Appetizers were a 3 out of 10 for the chicken bites and the chips and that's just because we were hungry as hell. Came here for the first time on a Saturday. They took over the vacancy where World of Beer was. The place looks great. Was renovated. They have their rotating draft beer menu posted on two large flat screens over the bar area. I was so pleased to see this, makes everything so much easier and prevents ordering a tap that's kicked because they can update everything electronically. Beer selection was impressive. They had a nitro on tap which is a huge plus! Their food menu selection is limited but their food was really great. We tried the bleu cheese house chips and the Nashville hot chicken. The chicken packs some serious heat but you can order it without heat if you prefer. The bleu cheese chips were crunchy and fresh out of the fryer. They were topped with this beer cheese sauce, blue cheese crumbles and green onions/scallions. Delish. I am only docking them 1 star because they are not actually offering any of their own beers and also the fact that they have no table service. You have to order food at the bar. Apparently they are working on brewing but they aren't quite there yet. In the meantime. We will definitely be back for a great craft beed selection. Will also need to check it out when they brew their own. The service was great and staff was very knowledgable regarding the beer selection. read more

Are in the area for a short trip and stopped in because it was close to my hotel. They have a big selection of regional beers on tap and a food menu. My husband got the polish boy and loved it. I love their beer, they have a great selection; I'm a fan of IPA's, and my favorite is the Private Porpoise. They have a great selection of delicious food as well; a lot of other yelp reviews that I read claimed "best burgers in Jax," but I haven't been around long enough in Jax to have an educated opinion on this. With that said, I do think their burgers are delicious. They release "new" beers every Wednesday of every month. New is in quotation marks because they often remake beers that they have made in previous years. The bartenders are friendly, and they don't keep your card when you open a tab, which I think is a plus. read more

Really impressed with this place. It's a great addition to the Southside area. They have an extensive beer selection with something to please every type of beer lover. They don't serve their own beer but honestly that doesn't bother me because they make up for it by serving all different types of craft beer from all over Florida that you may not find at other establishments. We visited today (Sunday) around lunchtime and it was pretty quiet. The place has an open air concept which is something I really like, especially on a nice day. There are two plasma TVs behind the bar that display the menu. They have all the beers listed, including what brewery they come from, what part of Florida, what kind they are and what percent alcohol they contain. I found this super helpful and informative. We sat at the bar and were taken care of quickly. Both of the bartenders were super. We decided we wanted a bite to eat and were shocked at how reasonable the prices were. We had the baked potato chips and the pretzel bites and they were both delicious. I did read on the menus that they do not do table service so if you want to order you have to approach the bar to do so. If you love craft beer or are looking to expand your beer horizons, this is the place for you. I can't wait to go back! read more

You have to go up to the bar to order your food, your drinks, and any refills. We got the pretzel sticks, fried pickles & the American Burger I think it was called. The person I was with asked for no pickle no mayo and it had it. You can't mess up fried pickles so those were great. So much potential! Great selection of Florida brews. They also have a few wines (nothing fancy) for those who don't fancy beer. Have a food menu, but wish they'd just put their energy into distributing the beer. Advertise live music Friday and Saturday (not sure or time or quality). Great open air feel but not too hot even on a hot afternoon. This place honestly sucks. I joined Yelp just so I could write a review on the disappointment this establish brought me, however I have been interested in joining but never had a passionate enough reason until now. It took over a spot that the very well liked World of Beer used to occupy, so being in the same business(serving beer and tavern food), it had a good bit to live up to. Still has 50 taps and the beer tastes like it should, hard to mess that up, but the staff is clearly nothing more than cheap fill ins. Something I used to really enjoy was talking about beer with the staff, but not at this place. Other than Chas, the brewmaster, there isn't a single person behind the bar with any real knowledge of beer. I would ask some of these ladies questions about what this and that tastes like and none of them would have an educated response other than, "let me get you a sample". While there's nothing wrong with trying and evaluating a taste for yourself, it shows a lack of qualification to work at a so called "brewery". I try not to compare it too much to the WOB that used to be there, but it's difficult when it was such a fun place to go and again is basically the same type of business. Also, when the place is busier they have no servers yet they have the same amount of tables WOB had. The food I will say I didn't have any complaints about and their bottlenose sauce was actually pretty good, like a honey mustard bbq with a small kick. Overall though, I wouldn't recommend this place but maybe for a quick stop for a drink, however not if it's busy. read more
