In trying to find someplace different to watch the game, we finally decided to give MVP's a shot and was pleasantly surprised! It seems like the crowd is super local and mostly consists of regulars, but it was packed and I immediately noticed how friendly everyone was. We were a party of 8 and short 2 chairs, but several people in the tables around us offered up their tables and chairs so we could sit together. Luckily our server ended up finding a bigger spot for us to move to, so there was no need to take anyone up on their offer. For being fully packed, there was only 2 servers for the entire place, but you never would have noticed. They did an amazing job, were extremely nice and friendly, and always ensured that we had everything that we needed. For food, we ordered the patty melt, loaded fries, and hot lemon pepper wings. It was your typical sports bar food and everything was good. The rye bread on the patty melt tasted super fresh and was slight chewy, which I really liked, and the sandwich itself was not super greasy. We were also a big fan of their onion rings. A plan formulated from the thoughts and threads of this community. Of the restaurant community. Respect and praise from your guests and peers deserves rewarding. My reward was a feast of well made and delicious entrees. I dropped the hammer on Loaded Potato Skins. Full of cheese and bacon and buttery potato mix topped with chives and sour cream. You know it was fire. I followed the boats of joy with a Rube. A good Reuben is an eff you to the conventional sandwich. Is it Jewish? Is it German? Does he have a Russian mother? Is their a Cuban Reuben? Sounds delicious but MVP's grilled Reuben on marble rye was exceptional. The crunch of the grilled rye as you incise the rounded edge is eye rolling. I've seen it...it's an actual physical phenomenon. And what of Onion Rings fried to a beautiful golden brown dipped in zesty ranch. It happened as you imagined. And while you may still be standing after all of this hyper satisfaction the clear winner of course is the TKO Club Wrap. Specifically requested on the Tomato Basil wrap this biased zephyr was stuffed with ham, turkey, bacon lettuce and tomato. Though the cheese on the skins are more nacho cheese-like, the addition of scallions, sour cream, and bacon make for a perfect combination. Their drinks are strong, not watered down like many places. MVP's has been around for at least 15 years. I have occasionally graced their doors and never been disappointed. I mainly go there with friends that live in the Girvin Rd. area to watch a game. It is a sports bar that serves sports bar food. If you want fancy, go somewhere else. If you want a quiet, reserved crowd go somewhere else (during the games that is). I have not been up here for late night happenings in quite a while so no bar fights for me to report! MVP's has been here for the locals before any other bar was in this area and they have a lot of repeat business and loyal patrons. There are many TV's to watch your favorite sporting event however they do not turn the volume on for the games, rather have music playing which was a disappointment. We come to watch AND listen to the games. Not sure if this is like that during football season. The service was mediocre, our waitress had lots of tables which caused us to have slow service. The food we ordered was good. I had a chicken wrap and my dinner companions had sandwiches. All came out hot and with good flavor. The fries were a bit soggy though. This so called "sports bar" is everything but. Went here to try to enjoy the NBA finals, the only big game on that night. I had to request that they put the game on one of the TVs as none of them had it on during tip off. On top of that, while the game was on, rather than the game audio playing, they had the worst DJ I've ever heard blasting his music through the establishment. Our table got terrible service and it just continued to get worse. Our servers attitude was horrific. To make matters worse he lost his composure and walked around the restaurant yelling obscenities and complaining about everything, at that point we wanted to request the young lady as our server she was smiling and friendly to the customers next to us. Our night was a disaster because of the one individual. This was not the atmosphere we were looking for and we will not be returning.
