I ate here on a Friday night, luckily for us we got there just before the dinner rush. We were sat a tiny table in the corner by the back door, which gave us barely enough room for out bottle of wine and bread let alone dinner but we managed by putting some of our food on the next table. The food was outstanding and the service was great. While eating a line formed to get in for dinner and people were crowded in the foyer area. Took a road trip and wound up in Slate Hill for some must needed R&R. Checked the area and am pleased with the food, ambiance and staff at Bottoms Up. The waitress Kathy was attentive, the food was served hot and the wine nicely chilled. I would recommend the mussels! They were DELISH! I had the lobster ravioli with shrimp and clams which was served hot (which is a must in my book) and my husband had the seafood bow tie pasta. Now he's a picky one and he ate and didn't say a word which means "this is good". I twisted his arm to have dessert because he LOVES carrot cake! Minus the cream cheese frosting (which was plentiful) he again ate in silence which means "this is good". I had he apple crisp which was served hot with two scoops of ice cream "MMMMM GOOOD! We just catered from here for my father's 60th birthday party. Everything was amazing and the service was outstanding. From the moment we started planning the menu, they were extremely accommodating, kind and helpful with suggestions. Was my 2nd time coming here and I was not impressed. We were seated quickly, but never got any bread, even though tables who were seated long after us were given bread right away. We had to request it after our meal already came out. We were checked on once during the meal and forgotten about the rest of the time. The person who takes the plates when you are done eating came and said I'll take those and went to grab the plates even though we were still picking at what was left on the plates. We have given this place a few trys. The first time I thought it was okay because it was different. The second time I was disappointed. And the third time I decided I wouldn't want to go back. It's over priced for average food. Nothing was ever that great and frankly the customer service wasn't great either. We never got a friendly feel from the place. This place has excellent food. The steak with Gorgonzola sauce was really good. The beer selection was tops, and the bar area was comfortable. Was highly dissatisfied with our experience this weekend at bottoms up. Recommended restaurant to friends. We had 7:30 reservations and were not seated until 8:20 pm. Appetizers were not served until after 9 pm. Dinners were all brought out at different times with steak dish ice cold. We complained to Donna who we were told was in charge, she was rude and unaccommodating. Staff seem to cater to locals and regular patrons. Restaurant can't accommodate large parties. A few months ago I did a review on Bottoms Up and gave it a great review. I stand by that review as far as the food is concerned. The catering is another story. In October, my husband was turning 70 and I wanted to have a nice family gathering. Since we both love Bottoms Up, that's where I decided to have it. A little more than a month before the party I called Bottoms Up to book it. At first they said that we would have to be in the small room because they had another party in the main room that day. I know the room and knew it would be too small and uncomfortable so I said thanks and was hanging up to make other arrangements. She asked me to hold on and came back after speaking to someone and told me that if I didn't mind sharing the main room they could accommodate us. I said that was fine but I did NOT want the other room. I called at least twice more to ask some questions and each time confirmed the main room. I called for the last time 3 days before to give them a final count and to see if the table would be set up as 1 table straight down one side of the room. I was doing a seating plan and getting balloons so I needed to know that. Again I confirmed the room. My sister and I went early to do the balloons and the seating placement and found they had set us up in the small room. I was totally livid. I started yelling at the two girls who were working then, neither of whom I had ever spoken to. We were squashed into the room and my daughter and grandson sat at a table by themselves because there was no room. The seating plan was a waste because there was a side table set up with family sitting with their backs to my husband and some he couldn't even see. Every time someone had to get up from the back of the table, everyone had to get up. It was so tight that we kept knocking into the baseboard heat and it kept coming off. It was horrible. Lisa (the bartender) went to speak to Kevin and told him I was really angry. He took the appetizers off the check. Didn't make up for it at all. I also think he should have come out and apologized in person. They out and out lied not to lose the business. Absolutely no concern for the comfort of their customers. When I booked it I told her that I had 2 other parties to book and would do it that day. Naturally that did not happen. I have many parties and as good as their food is I will never book another one at Bottoms Up. If you are booking anything and space is an issue, do NOT use Bottoms Up. No matter what they tell you, you can't trust them. They lie. To add insult to injury when I got home I noticed that a piece of the suede on my shoe was ripped from getting caught under the baseboard. I can't believe that they out and out lied about the room. Food is great, portions are generous. They are okay with splitting a dish. We have had them do this for us as we are not eating as large a portion as we did in the past. Also don't mind eating at the bar. Appetizer and salad isn't a bad option either! We love the Bottom's Up Salad with frizzled onions on top! Would you like some windex with your lunch? My salmon burger and sweet potato fries were quite good. My issue was with my treatment by the waitstaff and management. The waitresses began spraying tables with windex while patrons were still eating. Mind you, tables are in very close proximity at this restaurant. When I informed the waitress that the fumes from the spray were affecting me, she reacted in a fashion that felt very dismissive and continued to spray. At that point I asked her to please stop. She continued anyway. I informed that manager/owner that this had occurred. He told me that spraying like this was commonplace. I expressed concern as to whether this might be a health code violation - especially the fact that the fumes could wind up in diners' food. He didn't appear too concerned. And I wound up leaving feeling that my concerns as a patron weren't really listened to or attended to... and that a not entirely pleasant practice - especially while you're trying to eat some pretty good food - would probably be continuing. read more

Last minute decision to go here after a friend recommended it. Got a reservation right away. Got there 15 minutes early and was seated immediately at a lovely table by a window. Staff was so friendly and attentive. I think my husband was hooked by their selection of beer on tap. He rarely finds his favorite Yuengling and they had it. We ordered fried asparagus as an appetizer. There was plenty for two but it so so delicious we were left wanting more. We were definitely looking forward to our main course. Bar is tiny, drinks are NYC priced and waitresses congragate around bar and listen in on your business. Not a good place to go on a date with your spouse or for a romantic date night out. Not a good place to bring kids either, too congested with narrow aisles and tables are jammed next to one another.. Too crammed. Food is marginal and definitely overpriced. WILL NEVER GO BACK! Last night we took my parents to this restaurant to celebrate their 50th anniversary. It was a big mistake and I profusely apologize to my parents! We were a party of 11 (4 of which were from out of state and drove 2 1/2 hrs to attend) with a reservation made weeks in advance. 6 members (including the 4 from out of state) of the party arrived 5 mins prior to the 7pm reservation and were told they would not be seated up everyone arrived. At this time a member of party (who is visibly handicapped) asked again to please be seated as she was having difficulty standing in the narrow entryway. The hostess once again told her no and our party asked to speak to the manager. The manager, who is the chef/owners, wife was beyond rude and advised that it is the policy of the restaurant not to seat anyone unless the entire party is there. When an exception was asked to be made as the party member with the disability was in pain the rude manager told her she could sit at the bar (which was full) and that no exception would be made even though it was physically impossible for the party member to even sit in the a high bar chair if one did become available. At this point I wish we could have left and not given this restaurant our business. Yes, they are entitled to have their rules but said rules need to be evaluated when there is an exceptional circumstance. Oh, and the rest of the party was there at 7 (not even 5 mins later). Also, as the table was reserved for US what really is the reason not to be seating. You didn't need to start waitress service just let people sit down; especially those with physical handicaps!! I wish I could say it got better but it didn't. When I arrived I expressed my displeasure to the hostess and asked for the owner and/or manager to come and speak with me. That never happened!! Let's get on to the food. And let me start by saying none of us mind paying for a good meal. We are foodies, love to eat, and enjoy a good meal. But this was not one of when. Two of our younger dinners wanted a hamburger, nope can't get one on a Saturday. No bar menu, no exceptions, kitchen doesn't have food to prepare (per the waitress). OK, we will say that is our fault for not checking the menu ahead of time. We have a vegetarian diner. We asked for recommendations, were told a vegetable risotto could be made, great. So one would think. A bowl of white rice with (one would guess frozen) peas and carrots on top. Not creamy, delicious risotto. I am talking Chinese food white rice. Next, scallops carbonara; which two people ordered. By far the grossest food we have eaten in a long time. It was down right horrible. It was not eggy, bacon-y, onion-y yumminess. It was a pool (I mean swimming) Alfredo sauce with rubbery scallops and some type of bacon bit. Just gross. And then it gets to food that was decent but just to delivered as asked...i.e. grilled halibut over spinach...sent out as ok grilled halibut over water downed overcooked carrots and broccoli.
