I have a friend that lives in the area that comes here all the time and it has been on my "go to" list for quite some time. We finally came here for my birthday and it was just as great and I imagined it to be! The atmosphere is warm, cozy and cute. We had some cocktails, apps and entrees and everything was amazing. My husband could not stop talking about how epic his burger was. The chef even came out to see how we were all doing (who I also think is the owner) and he was super nice. The wife and I went the other night, a Thursday night for our anniversary. We had 6:30 pm reservations and the place was pretty empty. We ordered our drinks and I was brought the wrong beer, proper style but wrong brand. It was in a can and I wasn't offered a glass. We placed our order and waited quite some time before my appetizer was brought out, my wife's came after mine was done. The place was empty, why would it take so long and not bring them both together. Our main courses came shortly after. We ordered desserts and both were brought the wrong items. Now, the food was very good. The desserts, not what was ordered, close but not what we asked for also was very good. The portion size was average. I felt that the price was a bit high for what we received. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. I would recommend to them again to focus on the service a bit better. Would I return? Last Friday evening my Son and I visited Chianti Cow for dinner. We arrived around 8:30 PM and were the only customers dining. Two other people were at the bar. This is a small roadside restaurant; however, I understand they sometimes have outdoor dining. By the time we left an hour later, there was no one else there. The food overall was good. My Son ordered pan roasted salmon, which he enjoyed; and I ordered the crab cakes which came with a corn sauce among the cakes and an assortment of some bland cooked vegetables on the side. Although I found the crab cakes tasty, the sauce didn't really agree with me. I bypassed the bland vegetables. For dessert my Son ordered an apple crisp and coffee, which he liked, and I ordered chocolate mouse and coffee, which was also good. The owners, who were also the servers, were efficient and friendly. The food overall, for the location, was slightly pricey. I might consider returning, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so. read more

Food was good, I had the "not a wedge salad" and it could have used more dressing, but it had 2 eggs on top so that helped. I never had a salad with eggs on it before, it was surprisingly good. For dinner I had the "land and sea" which was chicken and scallops in baked dough with spinach. It also was good, and I wouldn't normally complain about the amount of chicken but because the scallops were hole there was not a good blend of flavors. The chicken was moist and flavorful, but the gravy was very good and it could have used more of it. The vegetables were very delicious! read more

This quaint little bistro is a hidden gem, nestled in the rural country area on route 6 between Port Jervis and Middletown, NY ( closer to Port Jervis than Middletown). Great comfortable atmosphere and excellent service only add to the exquisite food, prepared gourmet style with excellent presentation. We shared the petite potato pancakes with deviled eggs appetizer, which was delicious, and just enough to prepare our pallets for the forthcoming main event entrees, braised lamp shank Wellington for me and crab cakes for my wife. Have eaten lamb shank often before but never Wellington, which added a surprising degree of delicious uniqueness. The crab cakes were, in my wife's discerning view, among the best she's had. Would definitely recommend this hidden gem for a wonderful dining experience. read more

I ate here five years ago, before the restaurant makeover, and was very disappointed in every aspect of the restaurant. My family and I decided to give it another try. We ate there last nigh. I had looked up the menu online and was excited to get chicken francese. I was very disappointed to see a limited menu selection when we arrive. The look of the restaurant has improved greatly. The staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. We were a party of four. Two of us were happy with the entrees (stuffed chicken and a pulled chicken sandwich). Two of us got the bistro burger. I also had a salad. The burger was cooked the way I had requested it. The pretzel bun was toasted a bit too long and was hard. The food was ok, but $17 for an ok burger seems like a lot. My salad tasted ok when I was eating it, but something may have been off. I started to feel nauseated shortly afterwards and still feel sick 24 hours later. After driving by many times over the past few years I decided to give the Chianti Cow a try since they've been through an overhaul and the reviews seemed positive. What a great place! We ate outside surrounded by the fall decor. We both had the sweet corn chowder to take the chill off that began setting in. It was the perfect consistency with fresh veggies and hit the spot. I wouldn't change a thing and I'm sad to see the summer corn come to an end. For dinner we had the shrimp & corn fritters and the scallops wrapped in bacon. Both entrees were plated beautifully and the fresh ingredients put the meal over the top. Could have had a bit more shrimp with the fritters. The young wait staff was polite and very attentive. Prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back or take advantage of the take out as the cold temps come upon us. A gem right on Route 6! read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday after following their social media for a year. Will be back and will recommend to others. The Pro's... - Delicious food! Everything was perfect. You can't get food of this caliber easily in the area so 5 stars for the food. Specials change weekly and the choices are unique and full of flavor. Everything is fresh and presented well. - The decor is really cute. Even though the place is small you don't feel packed in and they are great about social distancing. As with the food, at atmosphere is 5 stars as well. - The waitress was a delight. Could have been a little more attentive but she was a one woman show for Easter brunch and overall was holding it down well. We were enjoying our day out so I wasn't concerned however I could see people getting annoyed about the wait. Suggestions for the future... - The hostess was so unfriendly. Not rude but not welcoming at all. Gave us one menu to share and didn't point out the QR code hidden behind the salt shaker so the rest of us could use our phones for the menu. Ignored us when we tried to ask for more drinks because the waitress was in the back picking up orders. Seemed annoyed we would ask for something and kept trying to walk by people without being seen. - The chef came into the dining room at one point. He greeted and chatted with the tables he knew and didn't acknowledge us or the other people who were there who he clearly didn't know. As first time guests, it would have been nice to have a formal introduction and pay him a compliment. - The exterior could use some TLC. Hopefully they do some landscaping in the warmer months. The back parking lot could use some tidying too. Looks like an abandoned farm stand in the back. FYI for first timers like we were: I don't know if it was a reflection of the area or poor timing on our part, but some of the people dining there were a little uncouth. When we walked in and waited to be seated a woman was loudly dropping F bombs nearby like no ones business and was next to a table of kids. The table with kids had one obnoxiously loud older child who they didn't seem interested in telling to use his inside voice. We arrived for dinner at 5 pm on a Saturday evening. There were three tables of guests including us. The other two tables already had their meals. The staff was pleasant although not especially attentive. Country music played over the speakers. There were no flowers or candles on the tables. We placed our order and then waited 40 minutes. We had to ask a bus person to find our waitress to inquire about our dinners. Once we finally received our dinners, we were immediately disappointed. The lamb shank was bland. There was no seasoning at all. The gravy was brown unseasoned water, and the roasted vegetables were burned. The brisket sandwich was haphazardly assembled and the unseasoned brisket was cold. The photo shows what the sandwich looked like when I received it. Our meals were a complete disappointment. Robert would not be pleased. We will not return. read more

Came december 22nd and received amazing service, as well as amazing food and drinks! some of our favorites we ordered were the short ribs, butternut squash ravioli, espresso martini, and chocolate mousse! I have lived in the area for a couple of years now and I am so sad that I have been missing out on this amazing place. Compliments to the chef and our amazing waitress, "the new girl". We had the roasted Brussel sprouts--to die for. The French onion soup--amazing. The fall salad was so refreshing. My husband loved the salmon dish, saying that it was top two out of all of the salmon he has ever eaten and number one was a family member so that doesn't really count. And my Oktoberfest mac & cheese With brautworst and carmelized onions was absolutely delicious. And the Fig Mule cocktail was scrumptious! The staff was super friendly and attentive. I recently moved to the area and have been regularly exploring new restaurants. I have to say, this is by far my favorite so far. I am not just a foodie, I was also a chef for 12 years. The food was absolutely amazing. Large portions, many interesting flavor combinations, and very reasonably priced. The staff/ service is the best I've ever experienced. They are extremely friendly, attentive, warm and inviting. Anyone in the food service industry could learn a thing or 2 from this amazing staff. The owner came out and greeted everyone and thanked his patrons Individually. A total class act. The ambiance has a rustic quality and is quite comfortable. Had dinner there last night and it was wonderful. Wait staff was super friendly and didn't rush us. We started with cold beers served in a frosty mug and coconut shrimp. Best coconut shrimp I've ever had. We followed with the pasta special and pork Milanese. Super tasty. Portions huge. Prices very reasonable. Saved some dinner for a to go box and we shared dessert. Warm apple cobbler ala mode. Two spoons cause it was served on a dinner plate. The crunchy topping with pecans was so good. This is a really comfy place to come for dinner. Probably one of the worst things I've eaten. I was glad to hear they redid the place because the Italian food was worse than little Caesars. I came after the remodel and I was impressed, about a year ago. However I returned to dismay. This dish in particular was disgusting. I thought "baby thighs" was a play on words for the dish. Whoever thought to use boney chick meat for an entree needs a refresher in culinary. The dish is supposed to be "Asian" described to come with "sushi rice" yet it was just mushy instant white minute rice, I know because that's what my dog eats. No rice wine vinegar or any type of proper Asian seasoning on the rice. It was overcooked. The chicken was inedible. My entire table was disgusted by the food we received. Including pizza and some appetizers that left a bad impression. No one took their leftovers. I will say the drinks were fantastic and that was about the only enjoyment we got out of our meal. Last week a group of 6 tried Chianti Cow. The service was good . Restaraunt was nicely decorated. Ordered crab cakes and was dissatisfied. 3 tiny cakes with mostly filler. Overpriced and under seasoned. We tried the Strip Steak. Too much fat. Should have been trimmed and also under seasoned. Burgers looked good but tasted like frozen meat. Went for dinner 2/15/20 and the place was busy. Hubby had the burger which he seemed to enjoy, I had the chicken wrapped in phyllo and have to say I wasn't a fan, there were like 3 little pieces of chicken in the dish. But on a good note the veggies and sauce were good. In regards to the atmosphere- we felt it was cold in the place, it must've been because some of the waitstaff were also wearing sweaters. Our waitress wasn't very personable but the girl who I'll call the bus person made up for it. She always had a smile on her face, stopped at our table, and many others, a few times to make sure we were enjoying the food and didn't need anything and brought us bread, where our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted any.
