Terrible service. My family had never been to a KPOT or anything like it. We explained that. The server told us not to worry and he was there for us. Nope. He grew frustrated at our questions. Apparently we took too long on menu questions, we never got the cooking tutorial. Our grill was not even turned up, so our food took forever to cook but again - no one told us how to adjust it or anything more. Our hot plates were not on because the server said if the light was in that they were working. Nope. You had to adjust it. I had to ask three employees for forks and they all sent us to the fork station even though I continued to tell everyone that there were no forks at the station. One staff got annoyed that I asked them to bring me some when they were finally cleaned. The server also argued me over my first responder status. The same server that let our plates pile up and I had to chase down for a refill on a water. So on a table of four, we had plates piling up with soups on the hot plates and the griddle in the middle. Overall, the ambiance was amazing - the service sucked. The staff is not helpful. For the money you pay, you would expect something more than being ignored. It would be a beautiful experience if someone was delicate and kind to show us the ropes. Now we know, we would do it again. But not here. read more

I had such a great experience at KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot! I really liked that the meal included appetizers and desserts from the self-serve area in the back. You can choose all-you-can-eat hot pot, Korean BBQ, or both, with separate pricing for lunch, dinner, adults, and two kid age groups. The ordering process was easy. You select your broth through your server and then use an order pad to request meats, vegetables, and other items throughout the meal. Orders came out at a very reasonable pace, and I was impressed by the huge variety of options available. The two-hour dining limit was more than enough time to enjoy everything. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful, and parking was convenient with plenty of spaces right in front of the restaurant. Since I've heard of this place it was exciting to see this location open need and had wanted to try. We came on a Friday afternoon for their lunch. Upon entry you see neon light disco-ish K-bbq tables. You let the hostess know how many and they usher you to the table. FYI. Everyone at the same table must order the same deal (BBQ or hotpot only or both). Once seated, the waiter came to take order for drinks & hot pot broth and gave instructions for ordering. There's a small buffet bar in the back with some fried items, banchan (side dishes like kimchi), fruits, all the sauces & ice cream for dessert. We fill a plate of buffet bar goodies and wait for meat & veggies to arrive. Then the cooking & eating begins... They have à la carte items if you don't want to cook but this is definitely a cook you own food place. Overall the raw food selections were ample, the marinate, sauces & broth outstanding, and could use a little better selection of dessert. The services could be more attentive but overall great place great prices esp. lunch. Will come back next time around the area. read more

A wonderful addition to Middletown, NY! You can either choose kbbq, hot pot, or both. This is my first experience, and I really enjoyed it. There were plenty of options to choose from that ranged from fish, vegetables, beef, chicken, and pork. They have appetizers in the back and ice cream. My favorites were the garlic shrimp, beef brisket, and a variety of mushrooms. Our server, Sarah, was incredible! She was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodated all of our requests with a smile. My family and my husband wanted to check out this spot . The inside looked very futuristic but I should had done more research prior to coming as to if you had to cook yourself or does someone cook the BBQ K Pot yourself. We are used to the spot we have gone in NJ where they cook it . At this location you have to cook it yourself. I felt the quality of the meat wasn't that great and the portions that they gave you were not equivalent to how many people was with you. We even ordered more and still came out with the same amount. Plus the server said that theres already seasoning on the meats but if you wanted to theres different seasoning in the back you can grab but the meat that has already been seasoned you couldn't really taste anything. The server we had was a a bit slow we were waiting a while , then when we wanted to leave they just disappeared. We wanted to get the check to leave but we waited a good 10 - 20 mins before tracking them down and then had another waiter try and find them . Overall I thought it was a okay place I wouldn't seek it out. Plus I thought it was very expensive to go during dinner time. I would have opted to go during lunch time. read more

Super excited to see this KPOT location open up in Middletown! I actually have not been to locations in NYC to compare but this location was very spacious and accommodating - it wasn't too crowded at all. We waited just under 5 min for our party of 6 (5+baby) to be seated when our estimated wait time was about 25 min, on a Saturday evening around 6. You see a virtual waitlist on your phone so you can go shopping in the meantime! They brought us a booster seat for baby and our server Natalie was very sweet and earnest, and was happy to describe the process and specials. You end up ordering everything on an iPad except drinks. The food comes so fast that we had to ask someone and wait for our grill to be prepared and warm up because all our food was just there already. We did korean bbq only for $38 on a weekend, and while the food comes fast, the grill itself is pretty small. They leave a little too much space for the hotpot burners and the plates, so we had to wait a long time for stuff to cook for 5 people. They have a sauce station along with some already prepared foods (coconut shrimp, french fries, wings, chicken nuggets, kimchi, fruit, dessert) to snack on while you wait. The kimchi was really good and the meat selection was a long list too! Pleased with the experience overall and will likely be back!! read more

Not a real great place expensive for what you get as one person in our group said it's like $30 for a bowl of soup that you have to cook yourself, the salad bar buffet had chicken nuggets in it and not much more real food few salads and some weird stuff but nothing anybody really wants. This was not a good experience. The only good part was the ice cream at the end which was prepackaged and safe to eat. I would find more to eat at McDonald's.! read more

Never had experience of cooking my own food, at a restaurant, but choices of additions to the soup pot, were plentiful, and welcomed , and choosing my main coarse with meats, fish and sides were great. It was fun watching it cook, then eating it. However, it made our table very cluttered. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. I liked that it was all you could eat. I had ordered steak and shrimp for my main coarse and grilled them. I found the shrimp difficult to peel after grilling it. They did not have cocktail sauce on their menu for my shrimp so it wasn't as good as I wanted. they did suggest another sauce that was spicy but it wasn't way to hot and spicy for my liking. All in all it was a good experience. I may try it again sometime. I had to ask for a fork, as they only served chopsticks. And I had to use scissors to cut my steak. No steak knives. read more

The food was a maybe a 3 out of 5. Service 1 out of 5 Ambiance 4 out of 5 I took my family here because my daughter loves K-pop music and they have a big screen playing K-pop videos. We found it very complicated figuring out what we were doing and with barely any help from the staff it was very frustrating. Finally figured out how to cook our meal. Food was definitely not bad but not great either. The staff either didn't speak English or made themselves completely unavailable. Told waitress to do something for my daughters birthday which she would have loved but it was obviously not going to happen as there was no communication during the whole meal so we pretty much expected there was no way she would have remembered. Might try it again but definitely not running back there any time soon based on the horrible service. read more

Went one night with family. Fun with food! I brought my family back to celebrate a birthday party with others. Love it!

I really wanted to like this, but... meh. The fumes from the not very well vented cooking surface made me queasy, making it hard to enjoy the meal. I had BBQ, my wife had hot pot. At one point the wait staff brought over two plates: pre-cooked tofu rolls for her hot pot and raw chicken for my BBQ. When one of the tofu rolls fell into the raw chicken as he set it down, he simply picked it out with his hand and put it back on its plate. Salmonella, anyone? Expensive to boot. This place is the best. Such a great concept, and the options are incredible. Fun experience to do the grilling and the hot pot add on is a no brainer. Miguel was our server and he was the best. Miguel couldn't have been kinder, or more personable and he made the entire experience a 10/10. Unreasonable hospitality was his baseline, as he consistently made us feel like his only table. If you read this review, and go, ask for Miguel if he's working. (I feel like people are going to start thinking I'm Miguel, but seriously, he was a great guy and phenomenal asset to the restaurant's customer experience). The meats are all fresh and delicious. I don't see how this restaurant got good reviews. Maybe for groups where the convo is more important then the food. Not enough veggie choices and some of what came were dry, as well as the meat even tho we hardly cooked either. A few items ordered never came, so you have to watch for that. Maybe they try to get away with not bringing everything since it's one price for all. Very young server staff really had an I don't care much attitude. Our server also hardly explained the hot stove thing, but we figured it out. It got VERY dry and by the time she was back to give us a new stove with oil, many things stuck to it. We eat out A LOT and will never go there again. We like the non-chain Korean in Middletown best, for it's fresh food. What truly elevated this visit from great to absolutely perfect was the service we received from our bartender, Paige. She is, without a doubt, the best bartender I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. She was incredibly attentive, made us feel genuinely cared for, and showed fantastic customer service skills all around. Paige also made the absolute best recommendation: the Mango Margarita. I usually stick to classics, but her enthusiasm convinced me, and I was rewarded with an absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced cocktail. It was the highlight of my evening. I would rather spend the money to cross the Newburgh-Beacon bridge to get K-Pot in Poughkeepsie because it's a better use of my money. Let me first say that I absolutely LOVE hotpot. It is my first choice for dinner most days if I have it as an option. This place was a MASSIVE disappointment. When we walked in, one of the hostesses was on her phone, showing it to the other hostesses. There are wayyyy too many tables in this place, I suspect so they can make more money. There is absolutely not enough space for a person to move around without running into at least 4 other people, mostly staff who don't even say excuse me or acknowledge that you're there. Then, my 4 year old child asked for Apple juice, the server told me that they don't have Apple juice there.. except it's right there on the menu along with orange and cranberry juice. So clearly he did not take the time to check, nor did he correct himself once he had the opportunity. Then, right in the beginning of our meal, our server took his break, and not a single other staff checked on our table. Not until our server once again graced us with his presence just in time to give us our check. I will be telling every person I know that likes hot pot that there are two other places in Middletown which have both better prices, and better service. I will not be returning.
