Shrimp plate with cole slaw, catfish plate with okra and boudin balls.

We stopped for a quick dinner. Steve saw a sign with this place. The only thing low carb is salad so I guess carbs today. I had the catfish plate with okra and Steve picked shrimp with coleslaw. We got the last order of boudin balls (lucky) before they closed. It was pretty quick and very clean. Except for the lettuce someone dropped on the floor. I guess they aren't keto.

The food was really good. We got the 4 piece fried chicken dinner that comes with one roll and fries. The chicken was very crispy and juicy. The roll and fries were really good, all was very fresh. You can order boudin by the pound here in mild or spicy. We got an order of 3 boudin balls, which were very good but apparently they sell out typically before noon. The service was good. It is a very homey place that isn't intimidating at all. The menu is simple and easy to read. I will say it seems to be a very straightforward place. Food is served on paper plates and cafeteria style trays so if you're thinking fancy then this isn't for you.

When you call yourself the "Boudin King" and you live in the a place once deemed the "Boudin Capital of the Universe" . . . . . . . well, it better be good. I've been all over Louisiana and have never had boudin as good as "Boudin King". Been eating here since I was about three years old, and I try to stop by every time I am passing through close to lunch time. A lot of places add to much rice, or try to overcompensate with too much meat, which just makes their boudin greasy. Boudin King has the recipe finely tuned and has been making it that way for about 50 years. I heard it through the grapevine that the locals say the taste hasn't been exactly the same since Mr. Ellis Cormier, the owner passed away, but in my opinion, they still got it. They also have a full menu of "Cajun" food like gumbo, seafood, fried anything, po-boys, etc...let me tell you, I just don't give 5 stars away freely. It's a little off the interstate and has never had much of a tourist patronage, but if you stop here, you won't be disappointed. Also worth noting is that they have another location closer to the interstate in nearby Crowley, LA, only this restaurant is called "Cajun Way".

Good food and hard to beat their prices. It's a simple menu with the items done right.

Old time family restaurant. Food was good and staff friendly. I tried the seafood platter and chicken gumbo. All were good. Try it out!

Was in town for a family reunion. Best boudin in LA. Rustic, casual and down to earth place. I also had the shrimp etouffee.

Cheap and good, no frills, nothing overly special, just plain good food.

Still my favorite rice-heavy spicy boudin. Not to be missed if you're motoring near Jennings.

Just don't go! It's off the beaten path, and the Boudin was not that good. Headed back on I10 to Best stop or Billys!

Babineaux's Cafe definitely met the criteria, it's definitely a part of the local history and culture. The exterior looks a little worn and the parking well it's random to say the least I think the locals here park wherever they feel comfortable and that's okay there's plenty of options. We were greeted by the friendly staff as soon as we walked in and found a seat without a wait although the place had already began to fill for lunch service. There's a lot of standard fare on the printed menus but my eyes went directly to the daily specials handwritten on the chalkboard which changes daily. The staff here is so efficient and quick to describe the specials and grab your drink order and of course they have freshly brewed sweet tea. After looking over the board I could not resist the home cooking option, a perfectly fried pork-chop, green beans, corn and of course a healthy portion of rice and gravy, it was outstanding so much like my momma made, we also ordered a club sandwich on toast, no frills just down home deliciousness. This is definitely a gem in the community and a must try if you want a taste of the local culture and to experience the unmatched hospitality from the people in southwest Louisiana, this is what I miss and always look forward to when returning to the state I was born and raised in...

It's not huge inside but we had no trouble getting a comfortable seat at lunchtime. There's a menu and there's a board of lunch specials. The friendly and attentive service couldn't be beat. If you see the grilled pork ribeye on the specials board you need to get it. The tastiest and most moist pork you may ever eat. The home cooked style vegetables will just make your meal a home run. We are already hoping that the timing on our next trip west coincides with lunchtime here and hopefully the grilled pork ribeye will be on the specials board.
