Went here today on a whim, after realizing that Captains Harvey's was closed on Sundays. We had never seen the Diners, Drive inn's and dives episode but we were pleasantly surprised. The place was very busy but we were sat in just a couple minutes and the service was very good. We didn't have to wait long for anything and our drinks were always full. I ordered the cheese steak sub which came with fries and coleslaw. Very good! My better half, ordered The Titan. Which is pretty much like a gyro and a cheese steak had a baby. Also very good! I ordered fish and chips. And I got fish and chips. Chips as in crumbly ruffles I could have purchased at the 7-11 down the street. And the fish was not a fillet as expected but rather a few numbs of fish chunks. And one refill? Really? And my dining compatriot's drink was prematurely removed from the table, only to return 15 minutes later. Also, the server seemed to have some serious 'tude, hounding us to order but then disappearing for vast amounts of time, only to come back and be snippy. We saw Boulevard Diner on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and decided to give it a try. We consistently come back for more. The service is good and we have never had a bad meal there. The Tuna Melts are the best we have ever had. I like the sour beef (half order is more than enough) and I always have the grape leaves. A fun thing to do is order the Big A$$ Sandwich for someone who has never eaten there and thinks they can eat a lot. This sandwich is HUGE, REALLY HUGE, very good, but impossible for any one person to eat in one sitting. It could probably feed a whole table. This is our favorite diner and it is always crowded, though getting a table is usually no problem except on Sundays after church. The portions are huge and, like I said, I've never had a bad meal there. It is the best DDD resturaunt that we have been to. My first visit to the Boulevard was fantastic! Service was great, food was delicious, portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. I had one of the lunch specials - a grilled cheese crab sandwich with tomato bisque - the ultimate comfort food. There was plenty of pure crab in the sandwich - no filler, and the soup was thick and flavorful. My husband got another lunch special - Mount Olympus. Juicy, flavorful meatloaf served on a bed of home-fries, then topped with spinach, onions, tomato, tzatziki sauce and gyro meat - outrageously good!! My son had the Triton sub - a huge delicious Greek style cheese steak. Every plate delivered to other nearby tables looked and smelled wonderful, too. We will definitely return again! read more

I got a bacon cheeseburger and it was decent but they charged .75 EXTRA for lettuce and tomato!!! Give me a break, so I got it plain other condiments were charged as well. This is a diner! We go a lot to this diner (my husband and I). It is in a good location on our way home from work. They have a lot of variety. The only thing I don't like is that the last couple of times I was there, I wanted to order dessert and the waitress said I had to go up to the counter and choose my dessert. I don't want to have to walk over and be seen by everyone so I skipped ordering it. I guess it is a good diet guideline for me, keeps me from eating desserts. This is the local grand central station of disappointment. My mom likes the place and treated me roughly 20 times to meals there before I'd no longer accept even free meals from this place. Clearly always state appetizers before the meal please or I don't want them... because the first two times they came after the meal... and even stating it is a 50/50. My final trip here was a party of 7 and 6 meals were delivered. My cheese steak and fries were "coming soon." My group ate slow, finished and prepared to pay. I had no meal yet. The old lady at the counter aaid she'd take my undelivered meal off the bill as a courtesy? Really? Laughable as it is a fucking given. I left without it and it wasn't even ready then to go. went there and the waitress was so rude. I think her name was Mindy or Miranda, some M name, but she had no reason to be so rude. When she first came up to us she had a strong odor of marijuana. When she would ask what we want to order she didn't even look at us and she just gave off a vibe that seemed like she didn't want to help us at all. I ordered a burger and asked for no cheese and when I got it, it had cheese. I politely asked if I could get it without and she had an attitude about it. No, I wouldn't say I was having a bad day at all...I was in a great mood, in fact, like I said your waitress was spectacular and so were the grapeleaf rolls. You however, were the issue and the problem. Your laziness and apparent attitude as apparent in your comment above were the issue. As a manager you should care about your customers, not act like it is a hassle to hear what they have to say or degrade them by telling them that they must have been having a "bad day" and "must have needed a hug"; complaints are how you grow your business and make it better, not taking a cheap shot at them. You, unfortunately, possess very poor customer service skills and could indulge in a little humility. Saying you're sorry AGAIN (might I add in mocking manner with the capital letters) is both unprofessional and outrageous as is your response to the comment. I come to this diner about once every coujple of months when I have time to myself and just want diner food. MOST of the servers at this restaurant give fast, decent service. They are generally not talkative and just want to get you in and out which can be a good thing if you want fast service. I don't think I have EVER waited more than 15 minutes for a meal here. Their sandwiches are all very big. Their breakfast entrees are filling, taste good, and big as well. This certainly isn't my first choice for dinner, but it really is more of a breakfast, and lunch place. I have eaten here for dinner a few times with my family and while their dinner selections are big, and taste ok it's just not my place to go for dinner. I had their prime rib here once because I wanted to know what Prime Rib at a diner tastes like, and I was for the most part correct. While it wasn't a terrible prime rib, it certainly wasn't real good....Very mediocre at best. Their greek dishes are all exceptional diner quaility food. I will keep coming here as it's a good location for me, and the food is quick, service and service is fair. I will say that their menu is not cheap for a diner. It's actually fairly expensive which is why I don't frequent more often, but in the end you typically get what you pay for and this place has never given be bad service or bad food. Soups are decent, Sandwiches are GREAT, Burgers are Good, Breakfast is GOOD, Appetizers are GOOD(Priced a bit too high though), Dinner is JUST OK. ...So I give it a 4 star review...If I could leave 3.5 that is honestly what I would leave, but overall I will keep coming back to the Boulevard Diner. ...Oh yah....It look's like a scene from the 50s as well! read more

It was my first time here. (And last time...) . Just came in here today around 1 pm, I sat at the bar section and it was during the lunch time so everybody was running around busy-busy. 5 min later I Got my coffe. Next 15 min I was waiting for somebody to take my order, I looked at lady who was serving at the bar, but I guess it was her time to clock out and she ignored me altogether ( she pass me ,clocked out and left). When I asked for help, bar tender ask the other bar tender "why didn't you get her?" Answer was "I thought you got her". And I didn't have time to sit and listen why nobody got me and why I should go to work hungry and order some delivery at work. I guess they don't care about satisfaction of their customers as much as they should. I know One thing , even tho this restaurant in the area I live at, I would not come back here. When I said that I don't want anything and I gotta go to work, to the waiter - "nobody took my order, everybody just ignored me" I said, waiter said "alright" and left, no "sorry", no "but let me help you", no "let me take your order now". Came in last weekend to grab dinner while my 17 year old was at Texas Roadhouse. Ordered the Crab cake dinner and a To-Go order. The crab cake while lump lacked flavor, the corn tasted like school lunch corn, and the fries were pretty blah. I asked for chicken soup for my To-Go order, my waitress told me that they had no chicken based soup for the day. I agreed to the French onion soup. A party of 4 came in and was seated to the right of me. They asked for chicken soup. She said they were out, but oh wait, she saw some back that was left over!!! They proceeded to get two bowls!!!! Also got a gyro platter and asked for ranch with the salad but did not receive it. Not to mention the kitchen staff and the waitresses used the "f" word multiple times and were being extremely loud. I was seated by the door to the kitchen. Been here a bunch of times, just have never been impressed. Visited this diner with some friends today around 6:30 the place was really busy but we decided to stay we waited about 15 min we where seated and where surprised to see that the manager put on an apron and started taking tables she was really friendly and fast she took our drink order and and appetizer order right away she recommended crab cake,bacon cheese burger,meatloaf tower we took her advise. I've always gotten very good service at this diner and the food has been nothing but what I expect every time. On Sat., Mar. 7, 2015 at approx. 8:30pm, my friend and I decided to try Boulevard Diner located at the corner of Merrit Boulevard and Holabird Ave. for a quick late evening meal. Conversation was awesome until my friend stopped dead in mid-conversation! Yep, the dreaded "HAIR" in his food. A long stringy brown piece of hair stretching almost the width of his plate. He was apalled and so was I. He had just finished eating a wing from that very spot! Okay, now I'm pissed! We summoned the waitress Leann who looked mortified. I immediately got up and asked for the manager. She promptly came over, removed the plate and apologized and stated she would remove the chicken wings from the bill! Well gee, great, but as first time customers, talk about destroying the moment and ruining first impressions. I wasn't quite satisfied, so I asked the manager if she would take a percentage off of our bill. At which time she stated, as per their policy, she could only remove the offending item and offer us a "CUPCAKE"! Are you serious?! My advice to you all, if you'd like to have a healthy helping of hairy food, with a side order of sorry we ruined your experience...here's a company policy cupcake (which by the way, made us feel VERY unspecial and an apethetic attitude from management); then this is your place. So my brother moved to the area and after moving him in to the apartment, we decided to try this place for dinner. To start off we got some drinks, my parents had some glasses of wine and my sister-in-law had a martini. She liked her martini, but it was really strong (and she likes a good drink) so ended up just putting more and more ice cubes into the glass to help water it down. For appetizers we got the grape leave, which I can't eat, but my family really enjoyed, and the fried ravioli. The edges of the ravioli were overcooked/stale, and the insides were also overcooked and not very tasty. My father got some sort of chicken soup, which he liked, my boyfriend got minestrone, which he thought was decent, and the sister-in-law enjoyed her maryland crab soup. I had a run of the mill salad with mine. Now for the entrees. My bbrother had the chicken with macaroni, which he barely touched, he didn't enjoy it. Sister in law had some sort of veggie wrap that came with fries, she wasn't impressed. My boyfriend had the meatloaf tower, which comes with 2 large pieces of meatloaf, a big pile of mashed potatoes and 2 onion rings smothered with gravy on top of two slices of white bread, he enjoyed it and had enough for leftovers. I had the veggie burger which was okay, it needed cheese and a better bun. The french fries were also not impressive by any means and tasted like they had been sitting around for a while. I forget what my mother got, but she wasn't too excited about her choice. My father had a greek wrap with gyro meat and didn't have much to say about it it. Oh, and the coleslaw that came with almost all our sides could have used a bit more moister/dressing, it was pretty dry. Well, they hit it out of the park again as they always do! We had a great dinner on Monday night. Great friendly service, steaming hot food out of the kitchen to our table, cooked and tasty to perfection. A regular size salad was super fresh and big enough for 3 people and beautifully presented with excellent dressing and garnishes. I had the Island Combo which was very much like a deconstructed char-grilled chicken and pork gyro on an ample bed of baby spinach, dill infused stuffed grape leaves with lemon sauce, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, tzatsiki sauce and hot pita bread. It was excellent! Two of my friends had a delicious extra deep spinach pie wrapped in a crispy strudel dough crust served with rice and a salad. Also Excellent! We also had a delicious tender chargrilled 16 oz. steak with baked potato and salad. Everything was fabulous....with huge portions.... can't wait to go back again, the menu was huge but in no way typical! Highly recommend and the atmosphere is totally fun 50's. read more

I am always searching for good diners in the Baltimore area. I travel from Annapolis to the Boulevard Diner every other Sunday for dinner. The staff at this diner is friendly and they make you feel like one of the regulars on the first visit. On recent visits I had the roast turkey dinner which was piled high atop dressing that tastes like homemade, and served with mashed potatoes with gravy and a side salad. I could barely finish the meal and typically I leave here with a take-out box. I like that they serve a basket of warm rolls and butter for dinner. On another day I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. I am a burger aficionado, and this burger was great. Toasted bun, crisp bacon, moist burger that was charred perfectly on the outside, and crispy fries. Today I had two broiled crab cakes with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a salad. I am a Marylander so I'm picky about my crab cakes. The cakes were made with large lumps of meat and a small amount of filler. A real crab cake should not hold together, but should easily come apart into lumps just like this one. (I think the crab cakes should have been hotter when they arrived, but they were still delicious.) Our waitress today was outstanding. She was friendly, warm, funny, and attentive, by far the best waitress we've had at the diner. I am eager to try breakfast at the diner and I have yet to sample anything from the bakery, but the baked goods look fresh and homemade. They even have hand-dipped ice cream. There are mini juke-boxes at each booth for those who want to listen to music at the table, but I just like the atmosphere. I will definitely go for breakfast next time and write a new review. If you're looking for an all-American diner with an energetic atmosphere, good home cooking, and friendly staff, this is the place.
