I LOVE this vet.... but the reception staff can do better The person who answered the phone was totally power tripping and unhelpful. She prevented my pet from receiving her medicine for 3 days over the weekend because she WOULD NOT TELL ME if they would be able to transfer the prescription somewhere else or fill it themselves. She gave me a lecture I didn't need about how they are so swamped and other people called and needed help before me. I get that, but can I be given a helpful answer? I called to follow up near the end of the day and was again lectured at and still not given an answer if I could pick up the medication or transfer RX. She said they would call me back later that day with and never did. The day ended, the office closed and still no medicine. So unprofessional, rude, vindictive. Absolutely not the kind of person that should be dealing with the public. read more

I had to book an appointment within 48 hours because I picked up my Boss (he's a dog) at the pound, this guy was found after 9 months of being lost (we think someone had him) anyway... and being at the pound he seemed to have a cold. We called and were able to get in the next day!! Very sweet staff. Vet Melissa is very gentle and sweet and new immediately what to do. They are fairly priced. I love this vet. They have been there to help me with my dogs, including lipoma removals of one dog and teeth extractions of another, and basic shots and check-ups of all my dogs. They have also helped me deal with the delicate nature of putting down my beloved chihuahua when it was time. Pet medical care can be expensive, but this vet is fair and never price gouges like I've experienced with other vets. They also are very communicative when it comes to changes in cost based on procedure. read more

Our Golden Retriever, Maverick, was bit by a Rattlesnake Thursday night, we weren't sure if he had been, there was some swelling, but the following morning he really swelled up. After being a loyal and trusting cleint at Boulevard Veterinary Hospital for over 15 years the unthinkable happened. They hurt my animal during a visit and more disconcerting they have no concern or care for either me or my animal. All they are worried about is denying and covering their backside. I rescue dogs and keep those unable to be adopted in as sancturary animals to spend the rest of their lives in my care. I took my serverely disabled dog in for some routine work. This dog was tortured as a puppy. I adopted her from Lancaster shelter at 14 weeks old. The first place Zena went after I got her was to Boulevard Vet, That was over six years ago. Last week I took in a fiesty Warrior Princess and brought home a dog paralyzed and in constant pain. They know they did it. I heard her scream while I was out in an exam room. They rolled over a serverely damaged Jindo. A breed who doesn't take to be rolled and then she was forced to roll her damaged body by them. After trying to contact them repeatedly not once did anyone ask how she was. In fact the office manager's first statement to me was 'you can't prove it happened here' Boulevard is not the same as when Dr Ruppert owned it. Back then it was a caring family type business. They had been there for me during so many difficult and joyous times. Now they are a cold and calculating business without true concern for their patients or the owners who trust them to take care of their beloved animals. Mistakes happen. A business with interegrity and compassion admits them and tries to alleviate the harm that has happened. Not Boulevard Veternary Hospital. They will turn on a 15 year client to cover their own mistakes and not have the honor or integrity to make it right. Shame on them. Easy and Quick Vaccinations for my pup! This Vet offers a Low Cost Vaccination Clinic during the week, which is amazing! No appointment needed, I walked in and my pup was seen within minutes by a vet-tech. $16 per immunization which was by far the most affordable in comparison to other Vets I called which all required a vet visit fee plus the fee for the immunizations. The staff was very friendly on the phone, and friendly in-person which is always so great! Overall, would recommend for hassle free affordable and quick vaccines. read more

As an RNFA in neurosurgery I have a lot of medical experience so I'm extremely picky about the care my dogs receive. After being at another local veterinary practice where I had to explain neurological symptoms my dog was having to a vet I had to take her to a neurologist DVM in San Diego. I despaired of finding anyone locally familiar with immune-mediated meningoencephalitis. One of my Yorkies failed his awake dental cleaning because of a loose molar. That was when a friend who showed Silky's recommended Dr. Ruppert. Riley had his dental surgery 5/3/2019 and did fabulously. During his exam I asked Dr Ruppert about his experience with immune-mediated meningoencephalitis, not only had he heard of it he had experience treating it. So Pearl will be treated here going forward. Just this week Dr. Ruppert extracted a molar from one of my rescues. He did a fabulous job. Their anesthetic induction sequence is excellent. The only thing I can mildly complain about is lack of a SaO2 monitor in their PACU unit. As long as the dogs are not left alone during recovery that is a small issue. Trish at the counter is always pleasant, supportive and provides any paperwork I need for billing (my dogs have Trupanion and I highly recommend that too). Thank you guys! read more

This clinic is ok, Dr. Ruppert is a little awkward but overall a pleasant person to deal with. The service felt very rushed with the doctor mainly saying "I'll print you some material on this condition for your information." In a way it's nice to receive this but most of the time it felt like we were playing a guessing game as he googled conditions for my dog. My biggest complaint with this clinic is they never answer their telephone or return calls. I had to switch to another clinic because I was tired of calling over and over to no avail. read more

We just moved to the antelope valley, and have two small pups and a cat. One of our pups has notoriously bad teeth, and to be honest I had a pretty traumatic experience with the last dental cleaning she had (It cost 2k+, and she bled for quite a while and prolonged healing time). We brush our dogs teeth every night (I know, I know) and noticed one of her front incisors was loose and bothering her a pretty good amount. We decided to go ahead and get her a cleaning, knowing full and well extractions would be made, but I toyed with the idea of taking her to a veterinary dental specialist, but the closest is 2 hours away. I yelped vets in the AV, and decided on Boulevard. I am so glad I did! Dr. Ruppert was great. I met with him the day before her dental (to meet him and decide if I trusted him with my princess) and he was straight forward, and even did a pretty in depth dental exam. He put me at ease about the procedure, and even agreed to fit her in the very next day! (Day before a holiday weekend!) I dropped my pup off early in the morning, he examined her again! and they took her away. He called me during the procedure to let me know all was going well, and it was what we discussed and let me know to pick her up at about 5pm. When we came to pick her up, he met us in the waiting room, discuses the labs, meds, and what to expect the next few days! above and beyond in my option. And the price was extremely fair. We've found our fur babies Dr while we live here in the AV! The office is clean, staff is super friendly, Dr Ruppert rocks! Thanks Boulevard Veterinary Hospital! Disclaimer: I am a crazy dog mom. Laporscopic Suregery!!!! I took my cat here 3 years ago for an injury and they were the only one open on a Sunday (at that time). They've been the house vet ever since. Clean, clean, clean facility. I have an antsy German Shepard they have to muzzle her for a bit at first but they know when she's ready and are great with her. So this post is about the Ger Shep spay surgery. She's 4 yrs old and I didn't want to have her deal with a big incision, she's an active dog no way is she staying inactive for days. I saw on Yelp they did a laporscopic spay and everyone said no cone, no down time, very little pain. Big dog owners...the rumor is real she's doing great. Pain (very little) for a day or 2, no cone, up and active in 24 hours. She has 2 small incisions that she's not even messing with. My dog has been suffering from bath breath forever. Not just the usual dog bad breath but like if his liver is bad. So I took him in and at first they wanted to give me the generic "oh just buy him the chew mints" but when I got persistent they finally took a closer look and realized he had a rotting tooth. So hopefully once that's removed we'll be good to go read more

We had the best experience with this Vet. He was so nice, patient and kind. He took his time to explain and educate us. Our dog had been seen two previous times for something wrong with her ear. I asked the first vet that we went to twice, if there was a fox tail in her ear and they said no. It might've been a little difficult for them to see it. However the boulevard veterinarian, took one look at her ear and pulled out the huge fox tail that had been causing her troubles. Her ear finally got better after almost a month of problems. The staff are very kind and helpful for the Fourth of July. They provided some medication for our dog so that she did not have to suffer during the Fourth of July. Off to a great start, receptionists were very kind and welcoming but most impressed with the doctor and vet tech! Dr. Kohlrfarber was calm and soothing for the animal and the whole time we were talking (and he LISTENED) the tech (sorry didn't catch his name) was massaging Dakota and keeping her calm and comfortable. I know I am going to sound like a weirdo but it was beautiful and calmed my anxieties and warmed my heart!!!! I feel comfortable leaving her in their care today They also confirmed before I left no babies in her tummy and nothing abnormal .... who knows what the real story was when we got her or what happened ... she is healthy though and will be spayed today so she can tear up our whole house in a couple days Update : following dakotas spaying she came home with NO CONE !!! I was so lost and she did not appear to be drugged she was acting perfectly normal and recovered without issue. I return visit or was literally a one day recovery and was only 175 other places were marketing for that but charging 1000 !!! I am so impressed with them !!! Another update : 11/2/17 we recently rescued two Great Pyrenees and one our youngest is sneezing blood they got her in right away reviewed her paperwork with us and were brutally honest with us we did some labs and they have stayed on top of her case since calling with their concerns and checking in Update 11/4/17 took Leah back for recheck of blood levels (platelets, red cell count , etc) and brought Judah to be checked again things were not as they were told to us by the rescue but they told us what we could do for him and confirmed he is not aggressive though I almost died when he snipped at them when they rolled him but they took ownership says he didn't even bite he has a bad leg and was in a vulnerable position they said since he let them continue exam nothing to worry about - though I was dying inside they remained calm And gentle / kind!!!! They are seriously the best vet / hospital I have ever been with or to they are amazing souls and take such care of the animals !!! I highly highly recommend them !!! read more

If I could give a 0 star I would. Something seemed wrong with my dog she was cold and barely responding, when I called they did not answer the phone. I should have known then. She was a month old so I brought her in, I was told I had to pay 70$ upfront so they could take a look at her. While I was trying to get them to look at her first since she was getting colder and stiffer they demanded the money over and over again, they seemed like they didn't care about my puppy and more about the money. Sad to say she took her last breaths while trying to get them to look at her. I would NOT recommend this place they definitely care more about the money then the health of animals. read more

Had an old co-worker of mine recommend the Boulevard Vet Hospital to me about 5 years ago. I took my new kitten there and was so impressed with the clean lobby. We all know animals have accidents, but this place makes sure that they try to keep it clean! When I walked in I was greeted by the front staff who were quick and efficient in meeting all the different clients' needs. Got my kittens shots all up to date and loved the care and passion their vets have for animals. Took my Rhodesian Ridgeback in a few years ago and they stated she'd need a splenectomy. We were devastated, Dr. Rupert gave us the outlook of survival and we were expecting that was the last we'd see our girl. Dr. Rupert got in there and removed the spleen and our girl managed through! I know that's not the case for all animals with such a procedure but we know that the care at BVH ensured that our girl was being treated by the best. She continued to thrive after the surgery for about 3 more years until she finally passed from old age. If you want a caring, professional vet then BVH is the place to be. I can not recommend them enough. read more

Since I was little my family has went to see Dr Uno. He was THE BEST!! When I was about 12 he let my mom drop me off so I could watch him do surgeries. Once he passed away we stayed at the office, until Trish started, her attitude drove us all away. I was the last one who stayed at Blvd until Trish gave me an attitude once again and I left for good. Many years later my dog tore her knee and needed a replacement and I was referred to Kohltfarber. With much hesitation I went back to Blvd, the surgery was done and all was well. I decided I would deal with Trish when needed for serious vet visits only. More years went by and the same dog that needed the knee surgery now had heart disease. I went back to Blvd vet and the dog had 7 months of treatment and I was happy with everyone (even Trish) for those 7 months. The day my dog died I took her into Blvd vet to have her cremated. Trish was working the front desk and I immediately had my reservations, but I was too sad to deal with the hassle of requesting another receptionist. I purposely left my dogs collar on because with my previous pets the remains were returned with the tags inside the ashes. Trish did ask me if I wanted to remove the collar and I said no I want it to stay with the dog, that I like to see the tags with the ashes so I KNOW its my dog I am getting back. 7 days later I pick up my dogs ashes and NO tags are in the ashes. I call Blvd and Trish answers, I explain that no tags are in the ashes and ask if the collar was removed, she said she remembers the collar being on my dog and she would call Peaceful Paws and ask what happened. When Trish calls me back she said they HAVE to remove and keep ALL metals before returning ashes to the owners, its their policy. I check Peaceful Paws website and it says they do remove any metals for recycling BUT they will ALWAYS return if requested. So I call Peaceful Paws and speak to the same person Trish did and she said she informed Trish all metals CAN be returned but its by request only and they said they make it a point to tell Veterinary offices know their policies and were unsure why Trish "didn't know this". PP did look through their metals to see if they could locate anything from my dog but they had no luck. Trish has been at Blvd for almost 20 years, for her to not know tags or any metal implants can be returned to the owner is laziness on her part. At this point I am in tears, sick and pregnant with twins so my mom calls to tell Trish she is unprofessional in her job and lied to me when she said it was PP's policy to keep all metals, and Trishs response was I can return my dogs ashes and she will give me a refund. Why the HELL would I return MY dog for a service that wasn't done correctly because she wouldn't fill out a form to have everything returned to me?!? At that point my mom asked for the office manager and was put on hold for 5 min and Trish rudely said the OM had already left. I cant stand that lady and her attitude. I think VERY highly of Ruppert, Kohltfarber, and Zuker and all the other staff that I have been in contact with. For every question and concern I had while my dog was receiving treatment they always called me back and walked me though everything. Ruppert even helped me to secure an oxygen machine for my dog. The positive comments for them are endless!! I now have to weigh my options of dealing with Trish or having the best Vets in town treat my animals.... Update: Trish (even though my mom had requested the office manager call her back) called my mom back to inform her all cremations from here on forward will be handled more efficiently and they will refund/credit me $35 and they'll let me keep my dogs ashes, which was so thoughtful of her (insert sarcasm). read more

I went in to have a soar on my dog's hind quarters checked and for whatever reason they took x-rays to the tone of $365.00, expressed anal glands for $33.00, and provided pain bills for $29.80 all unnecessary and without authorization. It was a bait and switch saying these procedures where already done when they called me about the bill instead of telling me it was an estimate. I would never have authorized all that. Trying to talk to them but they have not returned my calls. Dr. Ruppert would never have run his office like this. Where has intregrity gone! Keep far, far away. read more

Great people! Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Dr. Ruppert was very gentle in handling my dog and very sympathetic and human with his diagnostic. My dog didn't seem to mind this vet, he actually seems to like coming here. Will be taking my dog in for further blood testing here in a couple weeks. Even more reason to love this vet- I received a call early the next morning from Dr. Ruppert before the vet office had even opened. He had hoped to catch me before I left so instead he called me to further discuss treatment and diagnosis of my dog. That means a lot to me as I've never gotten a call from a vet about my dog besides the usual "how's he doing since your last visit?" Calls that they make after an ER trip. read more

A legit vet... looks just a like huge medical office except for pets!:) Dr Kohltfarber helped us with a follow up for my sweet pup, after she was attacked by a pit bull. He was all about saving money and tending to all our questions and concerns.
