Maverick scared me this morning with the bloodiest diarrhea and no appetite and etc so off to the ER we went The fronts communication was appreciated they had emergency surgery and worked with us to give us options and talked us through to finding best solution (to wait) for Maverick Then Heather was absolutely wonderful not only in communication and patience but EDUCATION and doing so with our shaming or guilting though I truly felt like a failure she was so reassuring and so very nice ! Dr. Soto was new to us but 100/10! She was so kind to Maverick (and the humans) both tech and doctor gave him space , moved slowly, let him adjust as needed and really communicated with us and worked with us to make this as easy for Maverick as possible! To our credit we are also very involved and more than willing to help to keep Maverick and the staff safe but not all places will allow the time or space for people to do that and are more just rushing along or through things but NOT HERE not today ! Serious Dr. Ortega's change to Mavericks pre sedation has been a game changer but I also think the approach and the vets make a HUGE difference in 9 years we have never had such positive experiences and we have been all over with him this is truly the most comfortable, reassured and trusting I've felt with vet's and Maverick! He is a special boy with re leg deformity which makes him more vulnerable so also more reactive but they do so well with him I cannot thank them enough I have raved about Dr. Ortega but Dr. Soto is just as amazing - these doctors are angels to crazy fur mommas like me ! My dog, IVORY SNYDER never had the stool studied, I know because I still have the brand new vial package in my purse. Also, I had monies left on my account. Before I got the North Valley Veterinary Center went to two other clinics, but they refused to help us. I took my GS on Sunday for an emergency and the girls at the front desk were very polite and helpful. We were seen by Dr. Tanya White, very knowledgeable and patient person. She did the assessment and was able to help our Archi. He had a blood vessel burst as a result of a ear infection. Thank you team. It's honestly so stupid how you show up early to the clinic--like, actually early--just to be first, thinking you'll get in and out quicker... only for them to take their sweet time anyway. What's even the point? And then they've got everyone standing outside in a line like it's some kind of concert or something, when there's clearly space inside. Make that make sense. Instead, you're out there with cars flying by, big trucks roaring past, stressing out the animals for no reason. You can literally see how anxious they get--but it's like nobody inside cares. At this point, it doesn't even feel like it's about care. It feels like it's about money. Because if they actually cared about the animals--or even the people--they wouldn't be running things like this. I asked the lady if I can wait inside I don't care how long the line is once they come in, but my dogs and cat are just too anxious outside And there's other pets in line so this just seems like a hazard and let's add that the whole place smells like piss read more

Twice I have had emergencies and twice the response was surprising. If you accidentally spill the prescription and need it replaced immediately, no luck. 24 to 48 hours - unless you want to pay an additional fee. Their website has 8am as opening on weekends. Their "emergency number" is a recording telling you that they open at 8am. I got there at 8am with a pet that was at end of life and suffering. The door has 8am for opening; but the door is locked. I called their emergency number from outside, someone finally answered, they open at 9. They would not unlock the door to let me come in to wait when I arrived at 8 after driving 35 minutes to get there. I was told I could go to a clinic in Santa Clarita, it is open at 8. I had tried to call the "emergency number" to confirm they were open at 8 when I left my house at 7:20, but it is a recording that tells you they open at 8am. . I loved the vet who took care of my pet but going to North Valley is like shopping at Costco. Long lines, long wait, too many customers, too crowded. Even with an appointment, I was in the waiting room over 2 1/2 hours because there were no exam rooms available. It's too stressful on a sick pet. I called The Blvd Vet Clinic, they took me in and immediately put me in a room. They were very kind and compassionate. They checked on me multiple times. They saw me as a person who loves her pet and was in a very stressful and painful situation. read more

Took my dog to get his annual vaccines + his rabies shot at North Valley Vet Center. He's never had any reaction to vaccines. But for some reason about 20 minutes after he was vaccinated he started to vomit, get extremely itchy and scratch himself against surfaces, he'll lay down to try and sleep and start to twitch and spasm uncontrollably, redness all over his stomach. I called North Valley after his 4th time vomiting and they told me to take him to urgent care because they couldn't see him. I don't know what they did to him but he's been healthy his entire life and never had any reactions to anything he was given. read more

Trying to give an objective view, we've worked with a few good vets and some terrible ones, North Valley is legit, would recommend! Now for a very long review... We've gone a few times now, once on a Sunday and once on a Monday. Everyone who works here that I've met with, spoke on the phone with, and emailed has been very patient, understanding and knowledgeable. They don't push things that aren't absolutely necessary. Their prices are reasonable. We have a picky dog who is protective of my wife (won't bite, but growls and is in general a menace, but we love him and he loves people, just no strangers near his mom ;) ). The team handled that very well, taking him into a different room for their examination. He was very comfortable with them, and that brought quite a bit of peace to us in a stressful time. We went in on a Sunday morning due to a fairly serious development of an issue with our dog that we'd been chasing for a bit, normally going to a different vet. The team took us in, handled the issue calmly and focused, and put us on a newish direction from what we had been doing. Thankfully our pup's doing great now (better than before when we thought he had come out of it). I appreciated how they handled the situation and how focused they were on root cause rather than treating the symptoms. They've been great to work with since then, not pushing anything they haven't felt was absolutely necessary. We did overhear the staff talking amongst themselves. They were talking about how the team operates and hiring new team members (and what they were getting for lunch, which was torture for us who hadn't eaten breakfast lol). I appreciated hearing them all talking about how serious they took their job and their high expectations for new hires specifically (nothing bad, they seemed to genuinely love their jobs and helping our pets get better). Gave me some unusual insight that they probably don't advertise, but the team culture here seems good, and that directly impacts how they will treat our pets when we bring them in. read more

Yesterday I had 4 kittens who I lost one that morning so the 4 wouldn't stop screaming g in pain, not eating covered in diarrhea. They took them in back and told me they were not an emergency and to wait my turn. I left to High Desert after waiting 2 and a half hours with screaming babies. 2 hours later one of the babies passed away. I will never go there or recommend this place. What they did was horrible. I did not see alot of urgent emergencies while sitting there that my kitten had to die. They were kind of rude. They are now getting the care they need. read more

Veterinary practice did not advise that they were taking my electronic signature and applying it to documents I never saw. They told me that it was for blood work and xrays only. It was only after my cat died that they sent me copies of documents that they applied my signature to illegally. Per California law you must consent to electronic signature on documents and this was illegally - this was never done. They never told me that no vet tech or doctor would be onsite right after my cat had surgery. The cat died in the night after the surgery with no one there. They then produce these documents with my electronic signature that I never saw that says no one would be at the clinic at night. If I had known this I would never have allowed them to operate on her. I am sure that I am not the only person this has happened to. They did not charge me for the anything except for the blood work and xrays - but now 2 1/2 years later just sent me to collections and refuse to speak to me. At no point did they even contact me about it after I asked if I consented to my signature being used electronically. I have filed a complaint with the board. read more

On a Sunday afternoon, my Australian Shepherd started vomiting and drooling excessively. With no other options, my son brought her here. The wait wasn't terribly long and the staff was so calming to my son, my pup, and me (over the phone). Dr. Ortega was thorough and comforting. She was a true partner offering options for diagnostics and care. She was also very engaged with me on the other end of a conference call, more than once during the visit. As it turns out, my pup ate some mulch and we are guessing she had some stuck in her oropharynx that was causing the vomiting and drooling. A few x-rays later, some sub-q fluids, and anti-nausea meds, and my baby girl was feeling fine. Dr. Ortega took the time to review all the x-rays with me over the phone after emailing them to me. After a pretty horrible experience at another vet in AV, my son and I were pleasantly surprised at this entire experience. While we have a vet in Agoura Hills, we will definitely remember this experience if we ever have another emergency with our fur babies. I have been taking my pets in this clinic for over a year. I think I have met all the vets already and all of them have superb bedside skills. Dr. Ortega explains in a clear, concise way. She's very loving to my fur baby and very friendly to me. I mentioned her specifically because she's the one we have seen most. But as I mentioned, no complaints on the in office experiences we have had here. Front desk, technicians, they are all very professional and friendly. I would recommend them for check ups, minor issues, and low cost vaccine. I will not recommend them for hospitalization. My pet was hospitalized overnight. He had really bad diarrhea and was found to be severely dehydrated. As always, he was greatly taken care of in the clinic. He came home much improved. They even did a minor cleanup of him so he doesn't come home smelly. The issue is the next day which was a Tuesday. I called the office because I wanted to ask the doctor if I could give him an anti-diarrheal because he had a huge amount of liquid stool Monday night. I was concerned that he might get dehydrated again if it keeps on happening since his antibiotics doesn't cure him instantly. I was promised that I would get a call back from a doctor. No call back. I called again Wednesday, the girl on the phone said that the doctor placed a note on my message explaining what I already know. Dog is in antibiotics, antibiotics need time to take effect. I asked if I can give anti-diarrheal. She said she can't advise me on that, I need to speak with a doctor. Again I was promised I would get a call back. No call back. Thursday I called again and again no call back. I spent $1500 to hydrate my dog and all I was trying to do was prevent him from getting dehydrated again. I wasn't given the courtesy of post hospitalization advice. By Friday I was done. I called to speak with the owner. They didn't forward my call to the owner but Courtney who identified herself as a lead in the office helped me. I told her about what has been happening. She was very emphatic and offered me a free recheck if I could bring my pet in. While I appreciate this offer, it is not the point I am trying to make. It is the fact that they promise one thing and not push through. Bottom line is I feel that this place has gotten too big, too busy that once you're out of sight you're forgotten. Hopefully they can figure it out. I am very satisfied with my in person experiences but now knowing that there won't be any support post $1500 hospitalization for a simple advice puts a damper on my overall opinion of this clinic read more

Let me first state that I used to have a VERY high opinion of North Valley. We had a cat pass and they helped us. Dr. Ortega is an excellent vet and Dr. Hirschbein is as well. After spending a total of thousands of dollars at this vet with two animals, a cat and dog, our dog became ill with a progressive disease. We began to look for ways to help her with medicine. It was a stressful time as the one medicine was very difficult to get a hold of and so we have to switch medicine. In calling to have the medicine approved at CVS, I spoke to the nastiest person I have ever dealt with. She was disgusting in her manner and began to tell me that the medicine could not be approved and that she had to protect her doctor and clinic and that the DEA could come to the clinic. I'm not sure if this person is mentally unbalanced but she should be no where NEAR anyone with pets and those who are experiencing matters where our beloved pets are in need of compassion and kindness. I hope that North Valley takes a look at this person because she should be stocking the back shelves and no where near their customers. It's unfortunate that her reprehensible attitude caused this because I had been a very dedicated customer. Others at the front desk have been nothing but kind especially the older lady who has always been gracious. ** EDITED REVIEW** I am editing this review as I received a phone call from Courtney at North Valley. She took the time to phone and listen to my concerns. She agreed that an issue over a prescription refill did not warrant her employee's oddball launch into a rant on protecting the clinic, the doctor and making sure the DEA didn't come to the clinic. Absolutely bizarre. Instead Courtney said she would be speaking to the employee and that she was out of line in her rant. Because of her call, I am moving my one star review to a two star. BEWARE. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I took my dog in due to vomiting and she was seen by Dr. Zucker who was great. 2 days later, she began vomiting and pooping black. That's not a good sign, so we decided to bring her back. They are supposedly open on Sundays for emergency walk-ins until 6pm. I took her in and they said that they were "at capacity" and would not be able to see her. I asked If they could go see if the vet could fit her in, it was an emergency situation. They refused to even ask. They have all of the testing results and information for my dog. I asked for emails and copies so that I could show it to another vet since they refused to see her. "Britney" refused to give me anything and said that they would need 24-48 hours to get me the information. She refused to give me any information to help save my dog's life. INCREDIBLY SAD. HOW IS SOMEONE LIKE THIS WORKING WITH ANIMALS THAT TRULY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEM? North Valley, please do better and find staff that actually cares for pets and is not just there for a paycheck. Britney was absolutely horrible and still has not sent me my records that she said she would be sending "as soon as she had time". We will absolutely never set foot here again and do not recommend that you take a pet here with any type of emergency. They will let them die. I am absolutely furious and deeply disappointed with my recent visit to this vet. I brought my dog in because she wasn't eating or drinking and was clearly having some kind of allergic reaction--this was urgent. Here's how we were treated: - Arrived at 8:30 as the first car, called to check in, and was told to wait in the car. - Only after calling again at 9 did I find out the doctor wouldn't even be in until then. Why wasn't this communicated upfront? - The receptionist took my information as if we were being checked in, but apparently, we weren't even on the list. Two cars that arrived after me were brought in before us. - I had to physically go inside to ask what was going on, only to be told the vet was prioritizing non-emergency rechecks for other dogs. How is this acceptable when my dog was clearly in distress? - We finally got into a room 15 minutes later, the nurse checked my dog's vitals immediately--and then we sat for AN HOUR with no update, no care, nothing. - When I asked again, I was told the doctor wanted to finish all rechecks before seeing any other dogs. So much for triage or urgency. - After 2.5 hours of waiting, I left feeling like the staff didn't care at all. The lack of communication, the disregard for my dog's obvious distress, and the complete indifference from the staff were inexcusable. I will never return here and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who actually cares about their pet. If you value your pet's health and your own time, go somewhere else--this clinic clearly doesn't care about either. read more

One call and they got us in, at the end of the day. From the moment we walked in; the front desk girls to Dr. Johnathan Zuker, they all treated us like gold. The update is the owner is accusing me of knowing that I owed $25 back in November where I came back in a week later and payed almost double for medicine for the same issue. why and how can I owe $25 and I paid them nearly $50 and NOT pay the $2. it makes no sense. When People lie usually it makes no sense. This was the Vets fault for not itemizing the $25 that was NOT covered by the voucher, this is also the voucher program's fault for APPROVING the voucher for $222 but later not paying $25 for a procedure it does NOT cover. None of which was my fault. I did not knowingly not pay $25 at the time of the appointment. but in order to justify THEIR mistake they must be dishonest and lie about what was "said" at the time of the appointment 6 months ago. That is shady. I am willing to pay the $25 based on the voucher program NOT paying the full $222 that they AGREED to pay on the voucher. but the voucher and the invoice INCLUDES the issue and the procedure that was covered for $25. You dont have to be forced to do the right thing. The right thing to do is for me to pay the $25 but it's NOT because the vet company took me to collections. This was just plain shady over $25 that I was NOT legally obligated to pay. due to the law, the vet center nor the collections agency can legally make any contact with me. There is NO need. I have already informed the company that I would pay the $25. I wished everyone would have integrity and dont need to be FORCED to do the right thing. The vet center should be ashamed of itself by accusing me of non-payment when they have NO proof that I knowingly owed $25 at the time of the appointment and they have NO facts, evidence, documentation or invoice to prove it. We started bring our Frenchie puppy Maddie here for her shots. When the time came to think of having her spayed, we decided to make our appointment with North Valley. Boy, that was the best decision. We had to make a special appointment because of her breed and possible complications, and of course we were nervous the day of surgery. From the time we picked her up after her recovery you would not know she even had surgery. It didn't seem to faze her. Her "scar" was barely visible and she never even tried to "lick her wound" so she didn't even wear her cone of shame. We are so pleased with her whole experience. read more

This review has taken me seven months to finally write because the pain still feels so fresh. When my pet was diagnosed with cancer in October 2024, North Valley Veterinary Center was kind and compassionate. Sadly, my sweet baby passed away in March 2025. I was out of town at the time, and my sister who had been babysitting and stayed with her until the very end. I called to ask about cremation options and prices, and to see if I could pay over the phone since I wasn't there. The woman I spoke to was incredibly kind and patient, and I decided on a floral wooden urn and a clay paw print. She reassured me that she would show my sister the urn so I'd know exactly what I'd be receiving. When my sister dropped off my pet, everything seemed okay. The staff showed her the urn, and it looked right. About a week later, I got the call that her ashes were ready. I didn't have the strength to pick them up myself, so my sister went for me. Opening that bag was one of the hardest moments of my life and my heart shattered all over again when I realized her ashes were placed in the wrong urn. On top of that, her paw print didn't even have her name on it. I can't explain the pain of seeing that. After losing her, I had to relive it all over again just to call the office, explain what happened, and wait even longer to get her ashes back. The staff apologized, but all they did was offer to swap the urn. There was no real effort to ease the weight of what I was going through. As someone who works in a veterinary clinic myself, this was devastating. I could have taken my baby to my own workplace, but I chose to bring her here the place that had cared for her for years and diagnosed her cancer because I trusted them. Mistakes happen, I know. But this mistake cut so deep that even six months later, the wound still hasn't healed. Losing a pet is already unbearable, and what happened made it so much harder. If you choose to bring your beloved pet here for euthanasia and cremation, please, please double-check everything so you don't have to go through what I did. read more

Customer service. In order to make contact with anyone on the phone, I gave up being on hold 2 or 3 times on different days. Hold is where this place sends people and their pets to die. The waiting room is the same. I am sitting here at 5:15 when I had a 4:10 appointment. When I dropped off my dog for his surgery, the 5 minute process I was told it'd take to hand him over was exactly correct -- AFTER waiting for 15 minutes. I was the only one there. The staff is either understaffed or undertrained, but for sure I'm underwhelmed. When I reminded them that I exist and my dog's staples have been waiting to be taken out for so long in the waiting room that they are starting to rust, they thought I was trying to check in. Understandable since I'd been sitting around for so long that they'd forgotten about me like so many of my dying unwatered houseplants: they're just there, unmoving, slowly browning imperceptibly, that your brain doesn't recognize their existence anymore. Also, the surgery was 800 dollars more here than elsewhere. Thought that meant quality. I also thought my dog was going to see the doctor I made the appointment for based on a friend's recommendation. No. That doesn't matter. Randoms at each turn dealt with my dog. So if you'd like to be overcharged and underserved by whomever they have just lying around, and wind up equating yourself to woebegone houseplants, this apparently is the place for you. My dog is fine, so there's at least that, but at a vet's office, isn't that the bare minimum? read more

At first with small fixes this vet was perfect, but beyond something small for your animal. Do not spend your money here, they run unrelated tests to make the price more expensive. My dogs eye has to be removed and they were quoting me on the low end of 6,000 and high end of 9,000 and we wouldn't know till it was done what the exact price was. We got many estimates with other vets that just as great if not better than the vets at North Valley. That were less than half of the cost they were charging. Not to mention the fact that when they found things were wrong with my dog they would make uncomfortable faces before saying anything or saying such things like "I don't wanna tell you what my vet tech thinks it is" in such a emotional time they take advantage you and they truly don't care like you'd want them too. read more

My dog got stung by something and her face started to swell, vomiting and getting hives. I took her to her regular vet on a Sunday morning however he was not in yet. I went onto yelp and came across this vet. I called them at 830am and they took my information over the phone and did all the intake. By 9am a vet tech had us in a room. We were seen by Dr. Ortega who addressed all the symptoms my dog was having. She assessed her and gave us a treatment plan. By the afternoon, my dog was feeling and looking much better. I can't thank this office enough for providing some of the best customer service for my dog and helping her feel better. When offering the DAPPi/Lestospirosis the receptionist and tech say you have 7 days to bring your dog back in for the second dose. Leaving out the part it is only on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday. The receptionist who always has the head set on that sits in the corner next to the window is very rude, and very inconsiderate. North valley needs to do better on communication. read more

We took our 13 year old pug in for a visit because he was having issues urinating. After taking X-rays he found that our baby had a bladder and urethra full of stones. We had to wait for blood work to see if he was a good candidate for surgery. While waiting Dr. Zucker and his team checked on pukk to make sure he was still okay. When we received the results. He was good as far as his kidneys and liver but had a sever infection. So we went to get antibiotics to get the infection to go down before surgery, but within a few hours he got worse and wasn't getting any pee out at all. So the vets office said bring him in. When we met with Dr. Zucker again he was very clear about what to expect and compassionate as the worse case scenario was not one we wanted but we had to know it was a possibility due to Pukks age. They took him in, and worked on him for hours! They stayed super late, even though they didn't need to. And took amazing care of Pukk. He is doing great and thriving. Even better than before his urine became an issue. They want to know how he is doing, and check in on him frequently. Even after his surgery, they still care about how he is doing. The team in the front are absolutely amazing. And a special shout out to Eddie Going in there constantly with our sick fur baby, and rowdy 4 and 6 year old, they helped on multiple occasions calm my kids down. Whether they were hot, they brought cold water and brought them pens and paper to keep them occupied.
