The restaurant was busy and vibrant on a Friday night. Our table of 5 had a reservation and we were seated right away. It was our server's first night on the job. So this review will show some grace. There were a few missteps but she did pretty well. The food was delicious. We ordered 2 boards to share as well as a bowl of rib eye mac and cheese. Somehow that was the only picture we got. Our two boards were the Spaniard and the Englishman. There was plenty of food and some great tasting flavor profiles. This was terrible. We ordered the Ultimate Bloody Mary & Maria Board and what arrived had nothing from the menu. When I pointed this out to our server she disappeared for a while then came back with a tiny portion of salami and three thick slices of bacon. Then a little while later two slices of mozzarella. What did come out originally was terrible. Tomatoes were mushy. Pickled onions and string beans so vinegary they were close to inedible. Pickled eggs and beets were ok. But none of these were listed with what we ordered. This is what should have arrived: "Enhance your drink with savory olives, hearty salami slices, crisp celery stalks, tangy pickled okra, creamy fresh mozzarella balls, spicy banana peppers, zesty lime wedges, indulgent bacon skewers, peppery radish slices, fiery Datil peppers, briny capers, sweet baby corn, or flavorful chorizo." We did have olives. No celery. No fresh mozzarella balls. No banana peppers. No lime wedges, zesty or otherwise. No bacon skewers. No radish. No datil peppers. No capers. No baby corn. No chorizo. I don't know what we got but our server insisted she put the order in correctly. For a restaurant called bourbon and boards I expected the server and kitchen understood what is listed on the menu and someone should have noticed. Even after we pointed out the error she just brought over a few items that were still not as described in the menu. No manager ever stopped over to speak with us. For the price what we received was not worth it and downright awful. Maybe if we had received what we ordered we would have enjoyed it but we will never know as we will never go back. Overpriced. Unexplainable disconnect between the menu and the kitchen. Terrible pickled veggies. I recommend you avoid and save your money. There are many better restaurants downtown. read more

Yelp doesn't let me down often but it did this time. In my opinion, there is no way this place should be getting a 4.6 rating. The food was awful. I wonder if a lot of "friends" of the restaurant have been doing reviews. First, the service was poor. We sat at our table for 15 minutes and no waiter showed up. I finally had to flag someone down and they went and found our waiter. He turned out to be a nice guy but we only saw him twice during our meal - once when he took our order and then again after we were done eating. Asking us how everything is after we're done eating isn't very helpful. He should have checked partway through the meal how everything was and if we needed anything else. Next let's talk about the food. Ahh yes. This is where the real issue was. You basically order a bunch of boards with some food on them. The prices are very high. I get it. It's St. Augustine. The problem is you don't get very much food and it was awful. The two burger sliders on my fiancé's board were cold (lukewarm) as were the meatballs on my dad's board. The meatballs also had gristle in them and were kind of tough. The chicken wings on the American Board were similarly poor. My bisteca strips were tough, cold and tasteless. The shrimp that came with my board were soggy and not fresh. The Mac N Cheese board was even worse. The Mac N Cheese tasted old and stale and it seemed someone had just microwaved leftover Mac N Cheese they had lying around. None of the food we had seemed fresh. It all tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. Another issue was the price. The American Board with two small cold sliders and two cold chicken wings was $30. Absurd for what you get. The other boards were just as bad. At the end of the meal the waiter asked how everything had been. I gave him an honest appraisal. I wasn't looking for any money back (nor was any offered). I just thought they should know. He said he would go back and talk to the chef. He came back out and said the chef offered to buy us cheesecake. We politely declined and just asked for the bill. At this point, we just wanted to leave. I make it a point of never punishing the waitstaff for a bad experience unless they did something deliberate. Our waiter was a nice guy and, even though he really only came to our table twice, I left him the usual 20% tip. Again, I get it this is a tourist town and people come and go. However, even so that doesn't justify this poor quality of food for such high prices. I would give Bourbon & Board a wide berth and find other places to spend your dining dollars. read more

Stopped in here for a drink and snack while roaming around downtown St. Augustine. It seemed like it opened not too long ago. We got a seat by the front door. There was live music going on. Sadly this new hot spot did not deliver. The perfect Manhattan was shaken too much and as a result we had a watery cocktail. Sadly we had the same issue with a vodka martini. The Rueben's brother was not executed well. The bread was soft and felt like a piece of wheat sandwich bread. The pastrami was room temperature and the seasonings were just not aggressive aggressive enough. The menu description claimed kimchi aioli, Worcestershire ketchup and mustard - let's say these were seen but not tasted. As a new restaurant we will try it one more time. So very much my style, gave me the feel of Dtown Sacramento Lively entrance that can instantly simmer down to a romantic feel as the guitartest plays live right in front of your table. I stopped in for brunch with my wife and loved this restaurant. Great coffee and a great whiskey list that didn't just start and stop with anything from Buffalo Trace. Brand new to Saint Augustine and sure to be a hit. We stopped in for a night cap and throughly enjoyed the ambiance. Lovely glow to the space. Our service was excellent. Let me start by saying that this place has great ambience, that's where it ends. We've been there more than a few times and each time it has gotten worse. Last night, 7/5/24 we went in and someone did say "welcome in", I think it was one of the barbacks. They seem to be the only people actually working last night. Sat at the half full bar where we waited a bit for a menu. It was given to us from a barback. Polite guy. Sticky iPad. Waited a good 5 minutes after closing the iPad menu to order because the bartender was busy talking to the corner part of the bar, where she spent the majority of the time we were there. We finally ordered an old fashioned an and espresso martini. Old fashioned was decent. The espresso martini was awful and cream colored. So I tasted it and it was definitely off. So after trying to get the bartender's attention because she was in the corner again, I asked her if that was an espresso martini and she said yes we're out of Kahlúa so I just added heavy cream. I think that she should have told us that she was out of one of the ingredients before changing the drink entirely. I would've ordered something else. She never offered another drink just said well I put in one and a half shots of espresso in it. Then, she immediately went back talking to the people at the corner of bar. The couple sitting next to us made a comment like "good luck with service here". He wasn't wrong. Looked around for anyone else that could be a manager so I could say something but no one else was there and of course I couldn't get bartender's attention. Husband finished old fashioned and we got her attention for the bill. She just put it down and of course went back to the corner. We had to ask the barback to cash us out. Then he went to the corner and got her to help. Even after seeing my half full drink, no apologies or "you didn't like the drink"? We still tipped 18% because we were hoping the barbacks would get their fair share. Last night will probably be our last time there. A Disastrous Dining Experience** Last night's dinner was, without a doubt, one of the most frustrating and disappointing dining experiences we have ever had. We had high expectations for this restaurant and were excited to bring friends from out of town to what we hoped would be a memorable meal--but for all the wrong reasons, it truly was. Service Issues: - **No water service for over 30 minutes.** We were seated promptly, but despite waiting for what felt like an eternity, we didn't even receive water until half an hour after being seated. My wife eventually ended up refilling our waters herself--at the bar. - **Unacceptable delays with drinks.** Drink orders were taken, but we waited over 45 minutes to receive them. Meanwhile, tables around us, who ordered after us, were receiving their drinks on time. To add insult to injury, when our drinks finally arrived, they were disappointing. The old fashioned--their supposed "specialty"--was watered down. Even a kid's Coke took over 20 minutes to arrive. - **Food order mishaps.** When our food finally started to come out, it was an absolute mess. The wrong items were brought to our table, and appetizers arrived *after* the entrées. We tried to address the mistakes, but the waitress appeared to have completely forgotten to put in our orders correctly or on time. - **Waitress avoiding us.** Our waitress was unresponsive and unhelpful. She seemed to avoid our table entirely, repeatedly offering vague excuses like "I'm working on it right now," but no progress was ever made. Other waitstaff and food runners even commented to us on how terrible our service was, which speaks volumes about the lack of organization and communication among the team. - **Incorrect billing.** To top it all off, the bill had several incorrect charges, forcing us to waste more time sorting it out before we could leave. ### The Experience: From start to finish, the entire meal felt like an exercise in patience. The delays, mistakes, and overall chaos made us feel like we were being actively ignored. It was as though we were part of some cruel prank. We went from being excited to embarrassed in front of our out-of-town friends who had trusted us to choose a great spot for dinner. ### Final Thoughts: This was a complete failure in every aspect of service. While mistakes can happen, the sheer number of issues--and the lack of any attempt to rectify them--was astonishing. If the restaurant wants to maintain any semblance of a good reputation, significant improvements in training, communication, and customer care need to happen immediately. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience left such a bad taste (literally and figuratively) that it warranted a detailed account. If you're considering dining here, save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. We will certainly never be returning. read more

What a great vibe! The staff were so nice and they went above and beyond in serving us. And lastly, and most importantly, the food was exceptional. We tried the Brie board (and the accompanying honey and fruit just made this); the chicken Caesar sandwich left us speechless; the gnocchi had a touch of heat that was outstanding; and the tuna tacos (my personal favorite) with the ponzu sauce were so light and yummy I had to eat all three! Kudos to the owners! It's about time we had an all-jazz restaurant in St. Augustine! I was pleasantly surprised to have stopped in to see my friend Taylor Roberts play, (excellent jazz guitarist), and ordered the Duck Confit flatbread. It was amazing! Really delicious and reasonably priced. The service was also great- very attentive, atmosphere was decent, and Taylor was superb as always. Sadly, the street was temporarily blocked off to traffic so business was rather slow, but I'm sure they will be packed with patrons as soon as the road work is over with.
