We really don't like giving bad reviews, but after reading so many good reviews we wondered if we had stepped into the same restaurant. The place was pretty dirty, the carpet leading upstairs to the main restaurant was filthy. We were given utensils in bags and no napkins or water. Had to ask for both. The cocktails were overly sweet and came several minutes after we had started eating the appetizers. The deviled eggs were good though. The mains arrived and we can only ask how can you mess up a salad, but apparently you can. It was under seasoned, the cheese was not what was promised, and the mandarins were canned. The chicken was dry and tasteless. Fries were meh. We had to ask for our second drink order as it did not show up. We so wanted to love this place. They had a master distillery person here talking to us about his Bourbon, which was super cool. We bought two (signed) bottles. When we finally got seated (despite many open tables outside), they brought our first drinks and appetizer quickly. The big pretzel was not that big and was okay. Drinks were okay. Our order, despite having been taken in short order was severely delayed. We both had burgers. Our waitress asked how we wanted them cooked. She said medium was very pink and well was a thin pink. We ordered medium plus. We were finally served and both were well done. I only ate 25% and my husband maybe 40%. We noticed the folks behind us didn't seem to like theirs either as they were hardly touched. Without us asking, they did take $10 off the order, but that was on food only. Ambiance outside was nice but food and service was very much sub par. We do not recommend unless just talking to a distiller and buying his bourbon. Don't bother staying for supper. Wow - what an absolute treat to dine here. We stopped by after a once in a lifetime opportunity visiting the Buffalo Trace Distillery and we were hungry! Obviously good company helps (and we had that), but we also had an individual in a wheelchair in our party and they accommodated a party of 20 quickly and with no fuss whatsoever. It's a comfortable bar and nice dining room. The menu isn't huge but boy howdy was it delicious. The Deviled Eggs with bacon jam - just order them, no need to think about it. The Kentucky Hot Chicken sandwich was awesome... I went for the Derby Salad, I'd do that again. Save room or don't for the bread pudding and order it either way :) Big and very reasonably priced bourbon menu that included many lesser known selections on top of all the stalwarts. I appreciated the selection because it's more interesting to me to try something I don't know much about or is completely new to me. The bar also had a variety of craft cocktails. I rarely miss an opportunity to pop by Bourbon on Main when visiting Frankfort, Kentucky. I love the vibe from start to end. First off, you can't miss the incredible mural on the outside of the building and the vintage English phone booth. When the weather permits, you definitely want an outdoor table overlooking the Kentucky river. Once you enter, its clear they have a huge selection of bourbon both from Kentucky and elsewhere. They carry local beers on draft and have some fine cocktails to choose from. They offer some super tasty appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. There is no on-site parking but there is street parking available. We sat outside on their back patio which had a great view of the Kentucky River. The whole patio is covered with a metal roof and there are several ceiling fans. It was a 88° day but it felt great on their patio! Our waitress was Tonya. She was so sweet & tentative. We struggled to narrow down what we wanted to eat. But Tonya gave us suggestions & we took them all. The House Burger was absolutely incredible. It was full of flavor, juicy, & cooked just the way we wanted. I will definitely get the House Burger again the next time we go back! I highly recommend the Bourbon Tea - it's delicious & it's boozy. It has a few really cool bars in the downtown area. Bourbon On Main is one of them. We had called for a reservation, but cancelled it when we decided to go somewhere else, but then ended up there anyway. Rachael was very friendly and said the place was packed because another restaurant was closed nearby so they were getting the overflow and didn't have enough servers. She said since we had cancelled our reservation she would try her best to seat us as a party of six, but it would be a wait. It actually wasn't very long and in no time we were seated upstairs and were waited on. The food is bar food, nothing spectacular. The garden salad with fried chicken was good, as was the bread pudding for dessert. Well done to the staff, servers, bussers and cooks here during the influx of people coming in for dinner. Fantastic selection of bourbon. Moe our server was excellent! We came in and wanted to try Pappy Van Winkle and instead of trying just one of Pappy we enjoyed 4 different years thanks to Moe. He recommended a flight of four different years and it was perfect! Our bartender was great and also recommended trying the same. We had the stuffed eggs, beer cheese dip, guacamole and chips. Ok this was like a visit to the twilight zone. Visiting the bourbon trail and came through town. This place has great reviews (it's #1 in the town) but I am just perplexed. We planned to have dinner here, but had some time to kill so we thought we would have a cocktail to kill time and peek at the menu for dinner. We walked in and there was a nice spot to sit and enjoy a cocktail in front of the bar BUT THERE WAS A MAN SLEEPING THERE! Like splayed out, adidas slides off, across the couch! The bartender was like hi, so n so can seat you upstairs. Well DUH I obviously can't sit here, it's some guy's nap-zone!! So we go up the stairs and the first thing you see is an open space filled with the staff's half empty gas station drinks and water bottles! So weird! There is seating to the left but that holding space is definitely what you see when you enter the area for seating. My husband had a specialty cocktail (bourbon tea) and I ordered a miller light (sorry, they're out of that) so I went with a coors. I would go with excellent, especially the Taco Quesadilla, she went with average. The deviled eggs were good, with the pork belly giving them an extra flavor that went well with the eggs.
