Chicken wings
Tracy M.

The Brussels sprouts were amazing. Really flavorful. The chicken wings, not so much. I did not care for thr breading. It was light like I prefer but it just did not have much taste. The wings definitely needed to be cooked longer. I felt like some of them were not fully cooked. I also did not like the flavor, like they may have been old or maybe they just needed to be cooked longer. I ordered a Manhattan and it was not made correctly. It just tasted like chilled bourbon, no cherry or juice. The server was very nice and attentive. Our food came out fast. We went early on $1 wings night so we missed the crowd. They had live music on the patio starting at 6. We had been here before but not for wing night. The place is quaint and we will be back however, we will order something other than the wings.

Super disgusting fishy tasting bourbon glazed salmon 10/10 do NOT recommend
Kyle A.

First, let me say that everyone working here is very nice and the setting overlooking the golf course and wooded creek area is great. However, the bourbon salmon was too fishy to eat. Both of us tried it and it was so disgusting. What causes that, was it past its prime? We chose to not send it back but didn't eat it. The chicken cheese steak was very pedestrian, not much flavor and just boring. However, the bacon jam Brussels sprouts were delicious, as were the fries. I hope this place can step up their food quality and stay in business.

The house salad. It was crisp and dry! Absolutely perfect 10/10!

Food was just average. Server was good. I probably will not go back. The room for our group worked well.

The building was overlooking the golf course and when weather permitting would be a fun place to eat outside.

I can definitely understand why people will tailgate just to get in for dinner. We started off with the meatballs, the pork loin, and the pierogies. The pork loin is a must get, and the other others were delicious as well. For my entrée, I got the pork loin as well because it was so good as an appetizer, and before that I started with the tomato soup, which was also excellent. Addison was our waiter and was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had a party of over 10 people and he handled it flawlessly. If you're in the mood for something out of the city in a little bit of a change of pace, I would highly recommend trying here.

The short rib pierogis were one of the best things I've eaten- the horseradish sauce pairs perfectly with the savory beef. I got the daily special which was a filet mignon meatloaf. It was so tender, but the Demi glaze is what made it perfect, sweet & savory. All meals are served with a cup of tomato soup or a wedge salad with the best candied pork belly on top. The jalapeño cornbread had the consistency of a moist cake. If I had to pick between Bonge's or the famous St. Elmo's, I'm picking Bonge's every time.

Stopped in for lunch. Downtown Fortville. It never looks like there is a lot of parking…read moredowntown, but I've always been able to find a spot fairly close to my destination. I love the small town feel!! The restaurant vibe reflects the town. Everyone is very welcoming. I didn't catch bartenders name, but she was very friendly to everyone at her bar. She told us her favorites on the menu. I appreciated her knowledge about the restaurant and the menu. The bar area seemed a little dark, but that actually enhanced the experience of an old bar. We only sat in the bar area, I believe there is additional seating in another room, but I didn't look. I opted for a grilled tenderloin and a cup of beer cheddar jalapeño cheese soup. The sandwich's are Ala carte. The sandwich was bigger than I expected, that would have been enough for lunch. The trick with grilled tenderloin is that many times it is over cooked, so it is dry. This was cooked to perfection; cooked but still moist. The sandwich, with the "garden" was awesome. Now to the soup. I think she said they use wee Mac as the beer. The jalapeño was puréed. There was crispy bacon crumbled on top; I did not care for the bacon. The soup was odd to me as I was eating it. Because of the texture, it reminded me of corn chowder. There was a little spice/flavor from the jalapeño. What was odd to me, was it didn't wow me like I thought it would, but I kept eating it. So in the end, I think I really liked it bc I ate all of it!!! The menu is not large, but has a good variety for its size. The desserts were impressive, I just didn't have room for it. I could easily become a regular there!!

The restaurant was a lot more kitschy than I was expecting, which I loved. Our waitress had a wonderful energy. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had several unique items. I ordered a Scottish soda called IRN BRU. I love trying food and drinks from around the world. It tasted like an Orange Crush soda. Our waitress said they were known for their Cauliflower soup. It was cold outside so soup sounded perfect. I also got a pepper jack grilled cheese. The soup came in a huge bowl. The combo of the soup and grilled cheese was very filling. My friends ordered the sticky pudding. I had a bite and it was delicious. I cant believe it's taken me so long to eat here. I throughly enjoyed it and cant wait for my next road trip.

In fact it is my favorite restaurant of all time. Sunday we stopped again. I had the British chicken curry and the fatoush. It was amazing as usual. That fatoush is so refreshing! My wife had the pork chop which comes with these amazing mashed potatoes with mustard seasoning that will blow your mind. She can never finish because it's so much food, which is OK with me because I help her out some. My favorite way to eat this is to mix a little mashed potato, mustard and pork chop together into one delicious bite. We were too full for dessert, but the times that we had the dessert here were spectacular as well. Thank you to all the people that work at Paynes, please don't change anything, you are the best!

There have been multiple times over the course of the last several months that we've had ordering issues with both for carry out, as well as a horrible experience at the craft house. Most recently, we've tried ordering carry out from the pub house and have not been successful any time. We understand the kitchen closes an hour before the restaurant closes and have ordered well before this time frame. It seems like the online ordering may shut down 3 hours before the kitchen closes, which is what we experienced tonight. The cherry on top was calling in to place our carry out order at 915pm (kitchen closes at 11pm tonight) - someone answered (and we were like "yay!") but then were put on hold, waited for 15 min and tried to call back for the next hour and 15 min and no one answered no matter what option we selected. So what I've been able to deduce from these multiple experiences is Murphy's doesn't like carry out traffic and isn't willing to take money from local fans. It's one thing if your website says "ordering stops at 7pm" - we'd order prior to 7pm. But when it says "kitchen closes 1 hour before closing" and nothing else about carry out, no warning while preparing our order that we wouldn't be able to place the order (like other local establishments provide) or employees who could answer the phone and easily say what the actual rules are - like "I know it says online the kitchen closes 1 hour before closing but we actually stop taking carryout orders 3 hours before the kitchen closes" - then we'd be informed and be able to operate in a manner where we understand what the boundaries are. I've had business dealings with this business and it's not surprising they are as or more disorganized on the customer side as they are on the actual business side. I reached out to the owner tonight and received no response. I hope this review helps take business away from Murphy's pub house. Since we aren't allowed to give them our business, maybe no one should.
