Blazin' Chicken Sandwich, breaded mushrooms, and a buffalo chicken salad
    Merry B.

I didn't expect too much from The Grill as a typical bar-food restaraunt (not usually my fave), but a friend and I were out nearby and hungry after a day of thrifting and wanted something local instead of a chain. This place was a pleasant surprise and really hit the spot! It was pretty empty when we arrived, but we were there for a late-lunch/early-dinner. They have lots of tables, but seemed like they were spaced well so it wouldn't feel too crowded even if they were busy. The menu had a lot of options and I settled on the Blazin' Chicken Breast sandwich and upgraded the side to fries instead of potato chips. My friend got a buffalo chicken salad and we split some breaded mushrooms too. Everything came out in a huge portion, hot, and delicious! You never really know what you're going to get when it comes to fries, but I was so happy with these ones--every single fry was perfectly crispy! Service was good too and if I lived closer to this area of town, I think it'd be a regular stop for a quick, satisfying meal.

Our gathering at 'The GRILL' Friday Night was also a lot of laughter and memories being shared. After chatting for a while, it was time to order. Nancy is having the "Worlds Best Tenderloin" Sandwich; Premium Pork Centercut Tenderloin, hand breaded. Served on a toasted bun with your favorite garnishes (Lettuce, Red Onion & Mayo). I went with the "Prime Rib French Dip"; shaved Prime Rib on a Hoagie Roll with sauteed Onions, Provolone Cheese. Served with warm Au jus & Chips. Ava is our server and she is taking care of all 26 of us keeping the waters & iced teas filled along with reorders of drinks. Needless to say she earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and loved it (and of course, a Very Nice Tip).

I have driven past The Grill multiple times and have been meaning to stop in, I finally got the chance to on Sunday. I was thrifting with fellow Yelper Merry and we worked up an appetite, we stopped in at around 4/4:30 in the afternoon. The restaurant was empty when we arrived as expected due to the time, and we were offered our choice of a table or booth. The staff that greeted us were welcoming and friendly. Many more people tricked in for dinner while we were there, majority of which seemed to be regulars as the staff greeted them by name which was lovely to see. Our server came to the table immediately and asked if we had any questions, as we had never been I asked what the popular items were and what she enjoyed. She shared that their onion rings are the most popular appetizer, but her favourite were the wings. We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, the crispy chicken salad, and the breaded mushrooms. Our food came out quickly but not so fast that we questioned the freshness. I customized my salad and had the chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, which the kitchen accommodated without hesitation. Portion sizes are large, and the food is tasty. The menu is extensive and I had a hard time deciding what to choose, this is a place to go if you have a group with different meal preferences. There is a dining side and a bar side, I may venture out to the bar side and watch the Super Bowl and try the wings and onion rings.

    Fly in iced tea

In the past we have always had a good experience with food and service at the Grill in McCordsville. I went there for lunch recently and ordered cottage cheese, a wrap, and iced tea. When the cottage cheese came I put a spoonful in my mouth and started to chew and heard my teeth cracking. I stopped chewing and spit out a hard piece of plastic. I flagged down my waitress and after showing her what I had found she asked if I would like another dish of cottage cheese. I said I did, but decided not to eat it. The waitress showed the piece of plastic to the owner and all I heard was the two of them chuckling. They may have been discussing something else but the appearance was that he didn't care. He did not even come over to discuss the issue or apologize. As I finished the rest of my meal my iced tea was getting low and the waitress refilled my glass out of a pitcher. I noticed a dark object floating in my glass and pulled it out with a fork. It was a huge dead fly!!! At that moment I decided not to finish any of the food I had left. It was pretty disgusting to think about what the rest of my food may have been exposed to. After this incident the manager still did not come to my table to discuss what had happened. The waitress told me she was going to discount my meal but all she did was take the iced tea off my bill. We will not be going back. Hopefully they clean up their act.

Their chicken tenders and ranch are some of the best in the area! Lots of parking in a strip mall setting.

I watched as people took their first bites. Forkfuls paused mid-air, conversations instantly ground to a halt, and eyes widened across every table. Jake Burgess and the crew from the Burgess Restaurant Group weren't just catering an event; they were executing a masterclass in craft for a crowd without taking a single shortcut. "You have got to try this," someone blurted out to my left, leaning across the table before even finishing their bite. "I'm tellin' you, Jake and his team don't miss," another replied. "Between FoxGardin, The Den, Bonge's, Carnegie's... it doesn't matter which spot it is, they nail it every single time." Taking it all in, it hit me why they stand so far apart. In a world full of safe, forgettable catering, Jake and the Burgess Restaurant Group served up the kind of deep, craveable food that ruins standard dining for the rest of us. It's the kind of cooking that makes you immediately start planning your next trip to one of their spots before you've even finished the meal in front of you. A massive, heartfelt shoutout to Jake Burgess and the entire Burgess Restaurant Group: FoxGardin Kitchen & Ale, FoxGardin Family Kitchen, The Den, Smoky's Concession Stand, Bonge's Tavern, and Carnegie's. We weren't going to get an appetizer but the bone marrow fries looked so good in pictures that we had to try them. They did not disappoint. Very large serving and extremely flavorful. Easily an appetizer for 4 or more people (there was only 2 of us so we brought some home). My dining partner is not normally a fries person and she loved these. For entree, my dining partner had today's special which was a shredded chicken sandwich that had a jalapeño cheese sauce and the house chips. She said it was very good and again half the sandwich came home. I had their breaded tenderloin which was very good, with nice breading to meat ratio and was a bit larger than the bun. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. It came ala carte with no sides. Service was excellent, exceptionally friendly and really took care of us. One of the best waiters I've come across. Inside is a bar/pub like feel. We opted to eat in the air condition enclosed "patio" type area which had a bit more light, but was also noisy today due to the tin lined walls/ceiling and another group that was quite loud. Made it a bit hard to converse. Normally don't think this would be an issue. While not tons of items on the menu, the selection was quite varied and you could really splurge on a filet or other such dish and really go all in for a more lavish dinner or have a burger or tenderloin, all at any time of day. Parking was right in front of the restaurant but could see it being a bit tight on a busy day.

We had 7 scotch eggs for the table. They were served cut in half with a mustard hollandaise, and we re scrumptious. Around the table, we had a variety of beers nda cocktails. I asked the server to pair me a white to go with my fish & chips, and asked for anything except Moscato. They sent a sauvignon blanc that was perfect. My friend next to be had a bloody Mary that was definitely Instagram worthy (see pics). The menu is fairly extensive, but most of us ordered either the fish & chops or the steak & Guinness pie (like a shepherd's pie). For pricing, the scotch eggs are $14.95 ea.; the fish & chips was $29, and the steak & Guinness pie was $30, so I would classify this as "upscale pub." Everything was tasty and a #yum #ReviewsByRL
