This has been my best dining experience in DC yet. I loved how they addressed the reservation maker by name once we were stared. To start, we were given complimentary bread and a fry trio, with 3 unique dipping sauces. I ordered the 8 oz filet with grilled shrimp, truffle butter, truffle Mac and cheese, and grilled broccoli. Everything was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. To drink, I had the apple cobbler cocktail made with Appleton rum. That was also very tasty. Since we were celebrating a birthday, our guest of hair was given a dessert, compliments of the chef. From service to food, the experience was a 10/10. Will be returning for sure. read more

I've been coming to Bourbon Steak for over 5 years, primarily for special occasions. I enjoy the seasonal cocktail menu, always look forward to the fries/sauces for the table, and the filet mignon is bomb. However, my last two dining experiences have resulted in the most awkward and slow service... not what I would expect from a Four Seasons establishment. I can go to Texas Roadhouse, pay significantly less, and receive better service. We dined yesterday evening to celebrate Easter with friends and sat without attention for the first 20+ minutes. The bread was cold (not sure how it was cold, as it comes in a cast iron skillet, but this ish was coldddd), the fries took forever to come out (they also just plopped them on the table with no explanation of sauces-- I've been before so I know the deal, but again, poor on Bourbon's attention to service), and it took forever to flag someone down for a drink menu and then forever again to place a drink order. The Bearnaise sauce was weird AF, not sure if they changed it, but I do not recall it being whipped? We only started to receive decent service once steaks were served and then we were asked 3x about temperature... put a fork in me, I was done. Had I reviewed 5 years ago, or maybe even 2, it would have been 5 stars all the way. Not today, Bourbon... not today. read more

I hate to say this but Bourbon has had its day from a native Washingtonian's perspective. It has never recovered from COVID. This was the spot to be on any given night for great libations, food & fun atmosphere but has just gone downhill. This used to be a weekly staple for me! I went for cocktails when they first opened outside and service was abysmal. Hadn't come back but to have cocktails and fries a few months later outside. Service was better. But last night was dreadful. Went for a friend's birthday dinner and service was beyond slow and they weren't even at full capacity. My ice had melted in my gin by the time it arrived at the table. The fries are always amazing - a no brainer. The petit filet was just ok and the cut was not of the quality I'm used to at Bourbon. It was just blah. And then - we were delivered someone else's bday cake, to which my friend blew out the candles on (she didn't notice the incorrect name on cake). To which we, the onlookers, were horrified and had to explain to the server that that wasn't our cake. BUT WAIT - they deliver the correct cake, sang again and the WRONG CAKE was sliced and delivered to us. We were so torn - do we eat it or not? Couldn't imagine what the other party was going to think when they're beautifully ornate cake was already blown upon and sliced.... Needless to say - an unforgettable evening but not in a good way. At least we had fun amongst ourselves. Our server was great - it was all of the other moving parts that didn't work. Probably my last trip to Bourbon unless I crave the duck fat fries. read more

Sometimes you change your plans and the change works out for the best. Alexis had made reservations at an Italian restaurant, but decided at the last moment that she felt like having steak. She gave me some options and I chose Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons in Georgetown...a place I had not visited on my various trips to DC. Can I just say that the service and food were excellent. We started with cocktails and ordered appetizers. Before they arrived, our server brought some treats compliments of the chef. The first were french fries. Three types of fries were served with dipping sauces: Plain french fries with a pickled ketchup sauce; french fries with a touch of truffle oil served with a truffle mayo; french fries covered in Old Bay seasoning and a garlic sauce. All three types were delicious and I am not even a big french fries fan. That was followed by a bite of steak tartare and truffle oil bread buns. The Oysters and Truffle Hamachi Crudo were on point. Light and fresh! We were sharing the entrée. The Dry-aged bone-in New York Strip with Black Truffle mac & cheese. Absolutely delicious! We knew we were full, so I was going to be enjoying this at home. A little room was left for dessert. We shared the Basque cheesecake and while we are not cheesecake connoisseurs but this one was absolutely heavenly. Picked Bourbon Steak as our last dinner while visiting DC recently. What a great choice! We knew it was going to be pricey but everything here was top notch so can't complain about the price. Our server was attentive as was the manager who checked on us frequently. Chef brought out complimentary fries that were not your average fries with various dipping sauces. Their drinks were on point and their Hanger steak was the best I've had! We shared the whipped potatoes & brussel sprout sides which were also very good. Came as a group of six. First, and foremost, it is very well appointed and the staff were excellent throughout the meal. Very friendly and attentive. They came out with platters of French fries, three separate flavoured dishes of fries per tray with three different sauces. A great touch and very tasty. I ordered a 16oz grass fed rib eye steak, medium rare. The table shared some sides as well. They also bought an amazing, incredibly fresh and hot roll that was like a cinnamon bun except it was just bread. Very good. I was, however, disappointed with my steak. I cook a lot better steak myself and at $89, it was just not impressive. The brussel sprouts, however, were excellent. When it came the time for the bill though, things got awkward and confusing. As we were paying individually, it took them over 20 minutes to sort it out. Then there were several changes that needed to be made. For $190 for my meal, I was less than impressed. For the money I would have expected to be amazed. I hate giving this restaurant only two stars but I am afraid that for the price, it should have been a far better experience. read more

We made reservations for a birthday dinner and were not disappointed. It was very clear that they were aware of the occasion and provided us with top-notch service to match. For appetizers, we ordered the oysters on the half shell & tuna tartare--both of which were flavorful and fresh. Our entrees included the 16 oz New York Strip & 20 oz Ribeye with the Truffle Mac and Cheese and Broccoli Rabe as accompaniments. Although the steaks were great, the Truffle Mac and Cheese was definitely the shining star here. The cocktails were quite tasty as well! Last night we went to the Bourbon Steak to celebrate my daughter's birthday and this was the first time in many years that the visit was disappointing. We regularly visit on special occasions throughout the year as a family. There was no birthday card signed by the staff which was normally done in past celebrations and something my children look forward to receiving. The server was not as attentive as we had experienced in the past and there were delays in drinks and ordering food. We waited over 20 min for the complimentary fries alone. When our food did come the order was incorrect and we were served the wrong side dishes and ended up with additional baked potatoes and the wrong mac and cheese. Also the food which is usually very good was nothing special for this trip. The beef tartare appetizer was served with very hard crusted bread that was difficult to chew. The steaks were lukewarm and not cooked to the correct temperature. The broccolini was tough and crunchy. Unfortunately the waiter never even came back to check on the steaks after they were served. The wine selections are very good but the prices by the glass are getting ridiculous in price and the pours are less. It is beyond price gauging at this point. A glass of the most expensive Cabernet is $99 for a 9 oz pour. The restaurant was very dark and it was difficult to see since only some tables have lights. At one point during the end of the meal, the lights came on brighter and started to flicker like it signally it was time for us to leave like last call at a dive bar. Sadly, it was such a disappointing visit and also one of most expensive one in over the years. read more

Since I moved to this area I had to learned to be disappointed with service while paying for overprice food. My sister and I came here for a special occasion. We were seated at the bar. The server never introduced herself, never asked if it was our first time or if we were celebrating anything. Never made a recommendation in the food items until the dessert (very end of the meal) and because we had to ask her to describe them. I guess I am ok with bad/average service if I am at Macdonald's, but not when I am paying $84.00 for a steak (no side Item included) and I leave the place thinking about all the things I would have done differently if I was in that industry. Yesterday me and my husband celebrated our 1yr anniversary at Bourbon Steak DC. It was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in they acknowledged our anniversary with champagne and a thoughtful card. The food was very tasteful and plentiful. Our highlight of the night was Kevin "The Captain" as he referred to as his position. He walked the restaurant to make sure all parties was being served properly and satisfied with their service. Bourbon Steak came to the rescue when almost every nearby restaurant prior either had an hour plus wait or was closed and wouldn't be opening back up til later in the evening *rolls eyes*. We literally walked in and was seated in the bar area, no wait. Upon being seated we immediately ordered waters as we were quite parched from walking several blocks (while pushing a 1yo in a stroller) on this hot and DC-humid Sunday afternoon. I'm not 100% sure the source of the water here, but it was some really good water (lol). Like really good water. Oh, and the truffle rolls.... the truffle rolls WERE. THE. BEST. ROLLS. I'D. EVER. TASTED. NO. LIE. Literally, the four rolls came to our table piping hot in their cast iron pan from the oven straight to our table. If you like truffle fries, you'll love this bread. The truffle wasn't too overpowering and the inside was super soft. Anyways, onto our meals... I ordered the prime steak burger (medium well) based on reviews from fellow Yelpers and I'm glad I did! The burger was literally perfection! Seasoned perfectly and the secret sauce and cheese made it even better!! Ugh! My sis-in-law ordered her norm, the argentine steak frites, which looked delectable. I also ordered the trio of duck fat fries for myself and my daughter (she's a fry lover just like her mama) that comes with three different fries and three different dipping sauces. I believe one was seasoned, one was truffle, and the other was just regular fries. All three were really, really crispy and tasty and we only used the ketchup as I really didn't care too much for the other sauces. I honestly don't even remember the other sauce flavors just stuck to the good ole ketchup. Wow. This place is a DC icon and I've wanted to dine here for years. I've been to the Bourbon Steak in Miami which is a totally different vibe (more glam and more chill). This restaurant is completely DC vibes - dimly lit, businessmen everywhere, a little stuffy and packed even on weeknights. I love it. The food was impeccable! And the meal was massive. You will leave this place overly stuffed and I did not even taste the dessert! Love that they give you free fries. I don't know which were my favorites but maybe the truffle fries or the old bay ones. But they were all delicious. Totally flaky and crunchy on the outside while soft and warm and fresh on the inside. Perfection. Also the bread rolls are to die for and you have to take some home with you! Giant rolls dipped in butter - lightly flaky on the outside and so buttery soft on the inside. Super indulgent! We tried the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and they give you five giant shrimp! Definitely not skimping out at all. I like that they dress the shrimp for you and they are so tender and juicy. I was already full after the appetizer course! For my entrée I tried the filet mignon, just the prime version. I ordered medium rare and my steak was literally cooked to perfection! It was salted perfectly and it melted in my mouth. By far this has been the best steak I have had in DC hands-down over Randy's, Eddie V's and capital Grille. It might be tied with the Palm's steak but they are very close in ranking. I like that the size that they serve are smaller in portion than other steak restaurants but it is nice to have leftovers. The creamed spinach was delicious and had crispy onions on top of it. Lots of flavor and super rich. However the standout was totally the truffle Mac! So incredible and creamy you want to savor every bite. Love this restaurant and everything is such a treat. read more

I've been coming here for years and they do a good job of keeping me coming back with their crispy house fries paired with homemade sauces/dips, caviar, seafood towers, and don't forget about the steaks! The signature dishes like lobster pot pie are good to share for the table if you are with a group. This past weekend was great timing for us because of course, white truffle season! They had a white truffle fettuccine, so we ordered it for the table and of course, it was delicious! While the food is great, we can't leave without a cocktail from the bar. I haven't tried the sweeter drinks but the cocktails that I have had were amazing! This is all around a great meal, a little fancier but definitely a great meal, where everyone can find something they like. Bourbon Steak is one of the most beautiful dining rooms I have ever seen, inside one of the most elegant hotels I have ever been in. From the moment you walk into the Four Seasons, you are surrounded by understated and upscale architecture, surroundings and decorations. The dining room is wonderfully lit and elegantly appointed. The muted colors and restrained use of different textural components is a masterpiece of interior design. I certainly appreciate that my visit there seemed like stepping into a fancy banquet or dinner party. The special surroundings made me feel like I was treating myself to something exquisite. This place is definitely the place to go if you want to treat yourself or impress others with a memorable evening of refinement. The service from the staff is likewise top notch. There was not one person who failed to treat my party with the utmost respect and attention or to treat us with unparalleled customer service. Whoever trains the staff is to be commended. And, of course, the staff themselves, should be proud of their efforts. Based on the atmosphere of the restaurant and the high quality of the service, I would have given Bourbon Steak 5 stars. However, there were some "misses" in the food category. My appetizer was the grilled octopus. This dish was a disappointment. The octopus itself was hard to find - there simply was not enough of it. Too, the lack of flavor cannot be forgiven at a restaurant of this caliber. They tried to ramp up the flavor of the dish with potatoes and some sort of condiment. But that could not save it. I love octopus but if this had been my 1st time eating it, I would not order it again. Likewise, the side dish of mushrooms failed to impress. Again, there was not enough flavor here. Mushrooms, yes. But not much else. I love mushrooms but I get the highest enjoyment out of them when certain enhancements and twists are added to change and improve their flavors. That did not happen here. Having said that, however, there were some real stand-outs that I ate last night too. The Prime filet mignon was OUTSTANDING! Cooked to a perfect medium rare with a silky texture that almost did not need a knife. The beef flavor was the best I have ever had. I am still enjoying that filet right now as I write this review. Also memorable was the flight of french fries served as an amuse bouche and the truffled bread served before the main course. These 2 dishes were beyond reproach. The desserts were a mixed blessing. The 4 of us shared the S'more and the banana tarte tatin. The S'more was brought to the table inside a belljar filled with a campfire smoke. Truly inventive and presented dramatically almost as part of some entertainment. The smoke was intended to remind us of those long ago nights when we made s'mores on the campfires of our youth. It was fun to watch and s'more was good, but not great. The ingredients were too cold and it was difficult to eat. The banana tarte tatin had a great flavor but the puff pastry was too tough. These 2 desserts did not elevate the meal. The coffee, however, is among the best I have ever had! I suppose the bottom line is that, when you are spending the sort of money demanded by Bourbon Steak, stick to the staples - steak and the items that are served to everyone as part of the deal with the restaurant. Splurge on the steak indeed. You will be VERY happy that you did. I have omitted a 5th star based on the 2 misses I experienced with the food. But please do not take that as a reason to avoid Bourbon Steak. It is a fantastic restaurant and I will certainly be back soon. read more

We came here for a special occasion and absolutely love a good steak. Nice place in the four seasons hotel. Ambiance was standard hotel restaurant but quiet. Service was good. We got appetizers (Caesar salad, gazpacho), wine which were all very good. Unfortunately, The steak (porterhouse for 2) was a huge disappointment - it was not warm and lacked flavor. It was frankly terrible. Not sure what happened with timing but it had clearly been sitting out for a while before being brought to us. The sides (mushrooms, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese) came and were excellent. The dessert (s'mores and cheesecake) was excellent. However for advertising itself as a premier steakhouse, they certainly missed the mark. All the other food was excellent so perhaps it was a one off mistake. But with that price point, we won't spend the effort to figure that out - we won't be coming back. read more

It's a great steakhouse where you will find a variety of cuts that you may not find in other restaurants due to the specific quality and cost of the meat they choose. It can be very pricey here, but you're paying for quality food, excellent service, and D.C. people watching! This is one of those places where you should see someone of power due to the location and price range, much like Hollywood/NYC areas you never know who's walking through the door or you'll be seated next too. The steak I had wasn't one of the higher end ones but still pricey, I got one of the dry aged steaks and it was very good. Lot of flavor and well prepared. If you are concerned about the price, I can tell you they are serving cuts worthy of the dollar sign next to them. Definitely not your typical steakhouse. The s'mores dessert is one of the best things around, I would say this is my favorite gourmet take on s'mores that I've tried. If you're looking for a special place this is a great option. Celebrated our first wedding anniversary there last night and it was a fantastic experience. It was our second visit to Bourbon Steak, but it had been several years. The staff and service is fantastic; they really took care of us and helped make our anniversary special. We had to call because we were running 10-15 minutes late and they were incredibly accommodating. Our server, Aaron, is the absolute best. We had so much fun chatting with him and he really gave the best advice on wine and cocktails based on our tastes. The fries trio is truly one of the best gimmicks at any restaurant anywhere and I loved it! Other than the fries trio and the bread (amazing), We enjoyed: Oysters Tuna tartare 12 oz. NY strip (perfect medium rare) Truffle Mac and Cheese Sautéed Kale with confit garlic (seriously so delicious) Everything was delicious and spaced/timed perfectly to let us enjoy our evening and drinks without feeling rushed. Since it was our anniversary, we were treated to a glass of champagne and the smoked s'mores for dessert, both of which were thoughtful touches that made our evening that much nicer. Other than the champagne, between us we tried the Shai Time, What Do We Call It?, and the Kintsugi (Cherry Blossom inspired special - one of the best cocktails I've ever had and I am absolutely not a whisky drinker). Wine wise, both the O.P.P. Pinot Noir and the Maldonado proprietary blend were excellent. All of these were based on Aaron's fantastic recommendations. Went for my birthday dinner and had the best steak I've had in a while. I can't stop thinking about the bordelaise steak sauce!

Still love this place especially if I'm having a hankering for a steakhouse dinner! I had a bad week, so the man took me on a date and we threw caution to the wind with the ordering. I got the A5 Kagoshima striploin, 4 oz., because I honestly don't think my arteries can handle the eight. Very tender, melt in your mouth. He got the 7x Painted Hills NY strip, which is what he gets every time we come. The true star of this review was the server! Rodolfo was so sweet and funny and we had such a good time with him. My SO got roped into trying this classic cocktail (Hairy Chest), but he didn't end up liking it so he gave it to me. He got another one, but Rodolfo said that this one was on him! We also got this burrata dish on the house which was so refreshing and perfect for the summer. The monkey business cocktail is surprisingly perfect, and I actually finished it in 5 minutes AND was faster than the SO (which never happens). I'm a very slow drinker whereas he has a questionable liver. The clarified giffard banana liquor was a very good choice. I wish we had space for dessert, but between the sautéed kale, truffle Mac and cheese, steaks, drinks, fries, bread, and burrata dish, we were stuffed. I had ice cream an hour later at home. This place has sentimental value for us, and we try to come here for anniversaries or birthdays. We love it so much that we come here every month to two months. It's pricey, but we find that it's worth it when we want a quality steak. Especially since most steakhouses have a very standard steakhouse menu. I like the variety this one offers :) Oh!
