This place is really cool! I love that has similarities of a cabin, with a New Orleans, downtown French style vibe. The food was great!! They had a variety of things to choose from. I was a guest at a party held in the Wine Room. The server was great and kept all our orders straight. The bathroom was clean and my usual Manhattan was made properly though I suspect it might have been watered down a bit. It's hard to tell as I like them on the rocks, but another guest thought the same. My real complaint was my food. I had the chicken and dumplings which were served cool and appeared to be an amorphous glob. It was sticky and not appetizing. I had a few of the fried green tomatoes which were good. Several other plates also went back partially eaten, I noticed. I was told that the salmon salad was good. We went here for a midweek dinner. It was our first time there. It's located in the Oxford Square on a corner near Yaya's Yogurt. The restaurant is an old rustic building with the old original floors. There was upstairs outside seat on the wraparound beck. We sat inside because of the heat. Our server was cordial and had a good personality. He was helpful in the explaining the menu. We all order hamburgers. Mine was the classic, no cheese, my daughter and husband ordered a fancier hamburger with cheese and bacon. The meal was delicious. We shared a basket of fries and popcorn shrimp. All was very fresh and tasty. We are Californian always looking for some west coast style beer. They didn't have any on tap and they were out of the hazy that I usually Lean towards. We had a one hour wait so we spent the time in the upstairs bar. Sat next to A & M fans that convinced me we should put College Station on our list of College Stadiums to visit. Ok! This place is one of several local Oxford eateries owned by Chef Currence and if this is the caliber I should expect while I visit, I'm excited. On this particular night the town was prepping for one of the biggest SEC football games this season(Ol Miss/Texas A&M) so the Square was PACKED! Upon entering Boure (pronounced Boo-Rae) several parties were waiting and eager for a table. We asked how long the wait would be and the hostess kindly said 1.5-2 hours. The hour was nearing 9pm, but we didn't have another preference so we decided to stay, went upstairs to the swanky bar and each ordered a beverage. By the time we selected our libations of choice, paid the tab, we were being texted (yes texted) that our table was ready. Apparently some folks didn't wanna wait which opened up tables for smaller parties to be seated quicker. SCORE! For starters, the pictures already posted on yelp were pretty accurate. It also helped to have a local show us around the menu while other diners meals sizzled by our table. We ordered the crawfish queso dip to share, which in my opinion was nothing to write home to mom about. I'm happy I saved my appetite because my tastebuds were bound to do cartwheels in the next few minutes. My decision was between the shrimp and grits or the pasta jambalaya. Pasta Jambalaya took the trophy! It was filled with crawfish(hearty size), chicken, andouille sausage and shrimp topped with garlic, bell pepper and creole cream. The pasta to ingredient ratio was perfect! This hands down is the best pasta dish I've ever had in my life! This ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. I'm thankful, I was wise enough to not devour the entire meal and brought some home to enjoy part 2 really soon. Another dish at the table was the open faced pulled pork sandwich which sat atop a cheddar cornbread pancake, not a raggedy bun! This reminded me of home...SC. There is a difference between BBQ cooked with vinegar vs mustard and boy am I glad they took me home. It was simply delicious. You are also able to change the sides if you don't like slaw. Lastly, my husband ordered the bomb fried shrimp po-boy. The shrimp was fresh, wild caught! I'm not really a po-boy fan, but a bite of this was quite pleasant. Boure was a bit pricy for a Friday night meal, hence the $$ but believe me folks, that was the best $23 meal I've had in a long time! You definitely get what you pay for! Thus, my friends and I chose it over CG in preference for a later snack and cheaper wine. The bar menu proclaimed the delicate balance between hearty Southern cooking and a slightly refined grub; notice the use of "refined" and "grub" in the same sentence. More specifically, you will find multi-cultural staples with ingredients familiar to people primarily hailing from below the Mason-Dixon line. Here is how they do as such: -Queso, accented with crawfish--lobster of the South (if you compare it with the Northeast) -Meat and cheese plate, with housemade sausage and cheddar -Hummus, made with black-eyed peas The ambiance matches the fare perfectly, one part rowdy, one part classy. A yummy restaurant on the Square. We began with the spicy queso. The portion was a tad small but delicious! I ordered the reuben with sweet potato fries and loved every bite! They used the perfect amount of sauce and the kraut was flavorful without overtaking the sandwich. My husband ordered the club and it was equally impressive. There were mounds of meat and packed with flavor. The folks with us ordered the shrimp and grits and the crab cakes. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp and grits but the crab cakes were incredible! There's this restaurant located on the square in Oxford, Mississippi, that cooks shrimp and grits that set the standard for all shrimp and grits. They are grit cakes topped with shrimp, crawfish, andouille, onions, peppers and mushrooms, in a rich roux. They're not on the lunch menu, but they've let me order them at lunch before when I asked. The crab cakes are good, as well as the bbq shrimp po-boy. The Boure burger with blue cheese, bacon and deep fried pickles is a burger that's well worth the heart attack that you'll have if you eat too many of them. The key lime pie is a must-have dessert! It's not too sweet, or too sour from the lime. It's perfect! Really, everything we've had there has been phenomenal, but did I tell you about the shrimp and grits? Oh em gee! The service is always good. It's a little pricey, but not for what you get. This is owned by Chef John Currence, who also owns City Grocery, Big Bad Breakfast and The Snack Bar. This is, by far, my favorite restaurant in all of North Mississippi, and it rivals any Cajun food you'll ever eat in NOLA. read more

We had a fabulous pre-game lunch here on my first trip to Oxford. It was fairly busy when we arrived, but somehow we were lucky and were seated right away. The people behind us were told it would be 40 mins, so we walked in at the right time! Th service was over-the-top friendly and accommodating, but a little slow. The salmon BLT was fantastic, as was the crawfish queso dip. The onion rings are good, but be careful, the breading has a kick that will sneak up on you. I stopped by here with my wife for lunch on a Friday last month while we were passing through Oxford. Boure looks really nice from the outside as it is on the courthouse square and has a good looking balcony on the second floor. The inside of the restaurant is also attractive. My wife and I decided to start off our lunches by splitting the crawfish queso as our appetizer. The queso itself ended up being pretty good and I loved the idea and taste of crawfish in it. However the star of the dish for me was the tortilla chips (freshly made?) which had salt and paprika on them. For my entree I decided on the peacemaker (fried crawfish, shrimp and oyster po-boy) while my went with the shrimp and grits(shrimp, onions, bell peppers, roasted corn and tomato with a white wine and lemon juice sauce over grits). I have to admit that whenever our meals came out to our table, even though my po-boy looked pretty good, I was pretty jealous of my wife's shrimp and grits looking even better. Luckily she allowed me to taste some and I thought it was fantastic. My own entree ended up being pretty good as well with the fried seafood stacked pretty high onto my sandwich. The toasted french loaf was nice and crispy while the remoulade had a good flavor. My only complaint with the sandwich being that it was a bit dry and so it could have used a bit more of the tasty remoulade. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. All of the food that we had here was good and I can imagine that it would be awesome to sit outside on the balcony on a nice day! read more

My aunt and I stopped in for Friday lunch to fortify ourselves before an afternoon of shopping on The Square. We asked for a table in the dining to your right as you walk in the restaurant, as it's located away from the open kitchen and decidedly less "busy". We started out with Bloody Marys with Tito's, which (thankfully) were heavy on the celery seeds and black pepper! I love a Bloody Mary with a kick. I ordered "The Peacemaker", which is a po boy with fried shrimp, oysters, and crawfish. The shrimp and crawfish were fried in a very light flour batter. Interestingly, the oysters were fried in a light cornmeal batter. I appreciated that the chef chose to incorporate the different textures. Of course, what's inside the po boy is just as important as the bread. It was perfect po boy bread. Light and airy with a flaky, crusty exterior. I highly recommend "The Peacemaker". Each sandwich comes with a side. I was trying to be healthy, so I ordered the fruit salad. I regret not ordering the sweet potato fries....not because the fruit salad was bad....because the fries looked that good! read more
