This bowling alley is the definition of "in the cut" so make sure to keep your eyes peeled. Came here for a meet up with friends to play catch up. There's no real signage on the building when walking in but just walk in and go to the left. Employee was friendly but nothing spectacular. You also don't pay for anything until after you've bowled. For the most part we enjoyed. Some things are definitely on the ancient side in here, though. Took me a minute to figure out how to work the screen, but aside from that, we had a good time + of course I won each game. read more

It's definitely in better shape, than the Fairfax City location. Outside the building isn't much to look at, and the nearby train tracks is a slight distraction. Yet inside it's really good looking. The lanes are well cared for, and they have a number of house balls to choose from. Service is good, as employees at the front desk will have you squared away. Pricing is more than what it used to be. Unfortunately this is a common theme. Our nation is facing an inflation epidemic. Yet sometimes it's worth renting some unique looking bowling shoes, and competing with family or friends. This is a good environment for clean fun. I'm glad it's here when in the mood. read more

The staff and managers are great. I have bowled league here for the last few years and never have to worry about un-oiled lanes or being sat next to retail customers with no bowling etiquette. Compared to the other Bowl America/Bowlero centers in the area, Burke could use some upgrading. For one, I have no idea why there is not a bigger kitchen/full bar. Located in a residential neighborhood with no bar within 3 miles = cash cow. It's basic economics. Pair that with the amount of action and people that the leagues are starting to attract, the only explanation that I could come up with is that Corporate and the District managers hate filling out paperwork for the proper licensing and hate the sight of money? All in all, Burke is the center to bowl at if you are looking for an old school league experience with knowledgeable staff and committed managers. read more

I came here on a Sunday night, no one was at the desk and waited over 5 minutes no one approached me. As I'm leaving there's an employee who's been talking to people at a lane hanging out, look over and just give me a thumbs up as I walk out. Such lack of awareness or care is really appalling as I had been standing 10 feet away from the employee who ignored me. Recently acquired by Bowlero, Bowl America is a throw back to the bowling alleys of yesteryear. There really are no bells and whistles, but I hear once per month they offer cosmic bowling. Otherwise, they have bumpers as well as the ramps to put the ball on if you can't roll it down the alley. Be aware masks are optional and most of the staff (unaware of vaccination status) do not wear masks. It was split in the customers wearing masks but it's never been crowded where we have been next to another party; usually there has been a lane between us and anyone else. They have a kids league on Saturdays-no need to sign up, just show up. The menu has switched to the Bowlero menu, which also means that there are more beer selections on tap. As far as food, the flatbreads are decent as are the fries if you need a nosh. There is a small area with some video games, but mostly different claw machines. They do all-you-can-bowl I believe after 6pm. Otherwise, I think it is $6.25 per person per game. They also have very small shoe rental-I was able to find a shoe for my 2.5 year old. I could walk here from my house so the location is great! I'll continue to come here; however, I hope they start upping their a game a little now that they are owned by Bowlero! read more

This location has many good special deals on bowling. On weekdays after 9 pm, there is unlimited bowling for under $8 not including shoes. On Sundays after 6 pm, there is $2.22 deal on shoes, certain food and per game. Since I typically only play 2-3 games, the Sunday option is better for me. We bowled here yesterday and it was great!! 34 lanes, so there is a lot of room and it has a vintage feel with the chrome and vinyl furnishings. Shoes were new, snack bar menu has a nice assortment, computerized scoring and fun personalized backgrounds. They had cosmic bowling in half and lights for half extra fun. This bowl america hands down win the nicest staff award! They greet you with a smile and ask you what you'd like and graciously set up the bumpers and ramp for you. Granted, the screens and the dos era scorecard program is eons old, it pales in comparison to gracious staff! Yes, the food is overpriced, like any bowling alley, but the lanes were in good condition, the bathrooms were clean and better yet, this location is the ONLY location I know of that offers FREE toddler shoe rentals. Yes, FREE! So, if your kiddos are size 6 to 13 toddlers, their shoe rental is FREE! If you signed up online for their blast pass, kids bowl a free game all year round and in the summer that is 2 free games! I cannot rate this place high enough! Bowled here with the family on Mother's Day (2013). We basically had the entire bowling alley to ourselves on this particular Sunday evening. As a result, customer service was excellent since there were a few customers. But I'm sure they're friendly and fast even when its busy. Bowl America offers the typical bowling fast food, beverages, shoe rentals, etc. My family and I had a wonderful time bowling especially myself as I scored 169 points! The only pitfall was the prices! Shoe rentals are $4.50 and a game is $5.49 during peak time. Ouch. I recommend taking advantage of their all you can bowl for $9.99 after 9pm. read more

I was part of a group of 14 senior softball players who meet throughout the off season to keep in touch. Tired of meeting at the same old bar/restaurant, I had suggested meeting here instead where we could bowl while consuming bar-type food & beer. This turned out to be a wonderful, fun event. Bowling on a Monday, there were plenty of lanes. We got 4 lanes & started bowling right away. JOE was fantastic. He helped us with the electronic score keeper & let each of us to pay for our own bowling afterwards. While bowling, the lanes never broke down. The guy working behind the counter took care of our food and drink orders right away. Never had to wait long for our fries, burgers, chicken fingers, etc. Except for one or two of us, we agreed we should stick to softball. But JOE, we will return next month!!! read more

My son arrived for a birthday that he had been excited for for weeks. We arrived and, unknown to us, date had been changed. The staff at Bowl America were AMAZING! They let us bowl a game for free! Above and beyond excellent customer service. They turned a really sad moment for my six year old into a great time. I'm beyond thankful and wish I could give them 10 stars. My experience at this Bowl America specifically was embarrassing and horrid. I worked for an organization with people with disabilities and we arrived during the day to play a game of bowling. The people we brought with us were adults with disabilities and had limited funds and required following a special diet. When we arrived, we were instructed that we could not have outside food in the building. Staff explained the situation to the employee and he went to get the manager. When the manager arrived we were given no options or alternative and had to leave. We were paying to bowl and have a good time but it was quickly ruined as we had to leave. Our clients were upset and just wanted to have fun bowling. P.S. It should also be noted that the food our clients had was for their special diet restrictions. This alley IS outdated, but so is every other alley around. However the staff here from the manager Wally to the front desk guy Jonathan and even the kitchen employees Eddie are all great. I bowl here twice a week and have tried every other bowling alley. The manager Rick gave my mom a free lesson and seemed to be a genuine guy. And the lanes are fine, I began bowling the 22nd of December and have already rolled 174, 175, 176, 184, 186, 198, 207 and 215 games here. Took my dad to join a local bowling league. I haven't been back here since they allowed smoking in the bowling alley. It's SO much nicer without the smoking. I'm not sure if they renovated but it looks brighter and cleaner. The lanes are lit well, the upper tables are clean, and the bowling alley food looked appetizing. We showed up at 3:15 on Sunday afternoon and we told that there was a 30 minute wait despite many clearly open lanes. We were willing to wait, so we went and sat at the stools installed at the snack bar to grab a bite while waiting. First we were told there is no counter service and to order down the way. Then we were told we could not sit there after all and to go sit at the tables near the cash register. These were all covered with trash, taken or reserved for a party. So, with no place to wait and the snack bar uninterested in serving us, we left. Horrible service, horrible place and even by bowling area standards, it was dirty and disorganized. We will not be returning. Save yourself a trip - licking a gas station floor would be more entertaining. read more

A nice family friendly place with really good deals. Which says a lot because you can't find that many quality deals in Burke. We love the monthly bowl pass, if you don't have it do yourself a favor and sign up. It's completely free :) We also love the staff. They've always been friendly and super accommodating. They have the absolute best fries. My kids look forward to their fries more than the bowling and they love bowling. Only downfalls, you do have to be extra extra extra patient when ordering food. Once a new girl in ten kitchen almost caught ten kitchen on fire bc the grease was overflowing into the dish water. She eventually got it under control. Then today we stopped in and were told that they can't take our order for 15 mins bc they were counting out their receipts. The place was PACKED and no where near closing time so we were confused but waited bc we love the fries. 15 mins were up and they still couldn't take our order. We eventually left bc our kids and friends were hangry. Other than the occasional kitchen issue we really enjoy this place :) read more

Came here with the family on a rainy day. Feels like we walked into an old tv show retun from the 70's. Bumpers are either up or down for the game. You want to play on the same alley as your kids but have to have the bumpers up. Staff is grumpy at best. When I asked the cashier about the bumpers she responded that bumpers had to be up or down, and then muttered that the adults shouldn't need to worry about them. No food or drinks allowed at the seats by the lane because of the computers. Please refererence the computer system pictures. It looks like my atari from 1979. Pretty sure liquid won't affect it. Maybe if they did get damaged they would have a reason to purchase 1990s technology. Overall disappointed bc it isn't cheap. Won't be back here again. read more

A copy of the letter I wrote to Bowl America Burke Management... To whom it may concern: I write this letter because I just had a horrible experience at your establishment. After spending several hours and purchasing beverages at your establishment, when I went to check out I was billed for double the amount. I was in a party of 6. I witnessed two of my party members pay for 2 people each. At this point 4 of 6 people had paid. I have copies of of their payments via screen shots. When I went to check out, I was told that only 2 of 6 people had paid. At this point I was being harassed as being drunk and that my friends had skipped on their bill. As I said, I have screen shots of both their payments. I was threatened with being arrested for "theft" (per Rick, who was extremely unprofessional) and I agreed to pay the amount that was demanded so that I could take my credit card and go home. This was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had in my entire life. Rick should not be allowed to deal with customers. I will never give business to this Bowl America or any Bowl America for that matter. I've disputed the charge and will be writing a yelp review in hopes that nobody has to deal with the disrespect that I dealt this this evening. Very unprofessional and extremely unpleasant. Absolute crap, when witnessing both of my friends paying and then being stood up for double the amount. If you can't figure out the correct amount to bill customers you shouldn't be in business.
