Pad See Ew with beef, Pad Thai with chicken, Tom Yum Kai, Thai tea & the Thai iced coffee
    Erin T.

Discovered this place a few months ago and have been hooked on this place ever since. Their portions are good sizes. Highly recommend the Pad See Ew with beef, Pad Thai with chicken, and the Tom Yum Kai. We tried the Thai Thea and iced Thai Coffee for the first time today, and was not disappointed. Not too sweet, and had the right amount of tea / coffee flavor. Today, we were greeted with 2 friendly ladies up front who made sure that we had all of the sauces & peppers we wanted.

No beef today. Pad Thai is great! Located in a busy commercial complex. Food taste excellent. Service is awesome. It's a must try whenever you're in the area. 10-22-2023

Stopped by here for a quick lunch on a Sunday while heading down to Palos Verdes. Split an order of pad thai (I know it's basic but I love pad thai) and it was more than enough for two people. You order/pay at the counter first and then can take a seat. Indoor and outdoor seating available. There's a self-service water spout next to the counter and you can also help yourself to utensils/sauces. The overall vibe is casual. Credit cards accepted. Parking is easy as this place is located in the Tokyo Centre plaza. It's good for big groups as well as kids.

Easy parking when not busy. Fast and efficient service. Food came out very quickly after ordering. Food was good! I found it funny that a Thai restaurant was blasting Reggaeton.

The food here is delicious! We ordered the pineapple curry fried rice with shrimp, pad Thai with shrimp, and crab fried rice. My favorite of the three is the pineapple curry fried rice. It is super savory and has a nice subtle sweetness from the pineapple and raisins. I really recommend it! The service is here is quick. Before you seat yourself, make sure you order. You are expected to grab utensils and dishes for yourselves. Ambiance is relaxed. It can get quite hot inside during summer days despite the portable fans that they have on. It is not usually crowded so there's plenty of seating. Plenty of parking available.

Now I know I left a review for this establishment years ago but since it says I haven't, here is an update. They are still the small hidden gem surrounded by Japanese restaurants in a food court. Being half Thai, they hit all the authentic notes I remember having in Bangkok. Service was great. The 2 ladies had big smiles even in this California rainstorm. Order at the register, pay, and then get a number to place at your table for dine in. I always go for a soup especially in the cold days. Today had the boat noodle. So delicious! My colleague ordered the chicken pad Thai and said it was one of the better quality dishes from other Thai spots in the area. Everything had generous portions of meat so extra bonus!

I really wanted hand-pulled noodles. I couldn't find a place locally and so I searched for the best pad see ew. Bowl Thai came up on google and I gave it a try. I have tried every Thai restaurant in the South Bay and this is the first place that reminded me of noodles on telegraph street in Berkeley. When I go back I'm going to add extra noodles and egg to it as well. This is now my go to spot for my noodles fix.

Thai boat & pad kee mao (very spicy)

Self service thai, no frills. Order at the front cashier, pay, and sit down. They have water cups, utensils, and plates in the front for you to grab for your food. There's about 12 tables where you can rearrange them depending on your party size. Food was pretty quick to come out, maybe around 10-15 minutes? We asked the cashier how the spice levels are (if it's thai spice or white ppl spice) they couldn't really give an answer so we ordered it very spicy. Very tolerable, not really thai spicy but a bit more spicy than thai restaurants that caters to caucasians. We got thai boat noodles and pad kee mao beef. Both were decent but nothing outta this world. The beef was at least not dry. The staff came by to check on us and see if it was too spicy for us and we said no not really and they pointed to the spice rack. All in all, this place is decent but I'm not sure if i'll be back.

I'm always looking for a new place to try out. This time, we chose thai. Location: in the city of gardena, hidden in a corner shooping center with its entry located through the back. Parking: There is plenty of free parking in their parking structure. Diner: a small simple establishment. With tables located very close to each other. It's over counter service. You order first, then sit down. Service: There really isn't any service. They just take order and take you your food. After that, they dont really follow up or check up. Everything is self-service. Grab your own utensils, plates, water, napkins. Food: we got a mix variety of stuff for the table. We got beef pad-see-yu. 8/10 very flavorful. Yellow curry full of flavor 9/10. Won ton soup was missing something. 7/10 and pineapple fried rice. Not the same without the cashew nut. 6/10. Good portion size so definitely sharable for the table. Price. Each plate avarages around 17 to 20 bucks. In total with drinks came out to 90 bucks. Not bad for 3 people. It's definitely something new to my thai spot list. Would probably come back to try different dishes.

Amazing Thai place in Gardena! I've been here twice and everything I've tasted was delicious. When you enter the restaurant, you go to the counter to order and then choose a table to sit at and they'll bring you your food. Water and utensils are at a self serve counter beside the front counter. Each table also had chilis and some other sauces. It was very bright and felt modern inside. Kana Moo Krob: It was very flavorful and the pork was very crispy. Pineapple Curry Fried Rice: I'm just not a fan of raisins in my fried rice but still really good. It was great leftover too. Pineapple Curry: A good mix of sweet and spicy. Wish it was spicier. Came with a large scoop of white rice which was great to soak up the leftover curry. Pad See Ew: An authentic classic - loved it! This has become my go to Thai place in Gardena! Will definitely be coming back

Solid Thai food. Two thumbs up for the Pad See Ew. I could eat the Pad See Ew all day long! I got it with tofu and it was amazing! It's definitely the best I've had in the area. The Tom Yum Goong is YUM-meeee! It was so flavorful and really packed a punch! The Pad Thai was just ok. Maybe something I wouldn't get again but if you are in the area and have a craving for Thai food, I would definitely recommend checking out this place. I ordered for pickup and the man who took my order was super friendly. I got the Pad See Ew with tofu and he asked if egg was ok. And when I ordered the Pad Thai, I also got it with tofu and he asked if I had any allergies (the Pad Thai comes with nuts)... and I just thought it was really thoughtful and not something that happens too often. I really appreciated it.

I've been coming to Bowl Thai for years! Food is always yummy and has that home taste! However, I have become disappointed that they minimized their menu when they opened the other location not too far from this one. I really wished they kept their Chicken/Beef Satay Plate with the little yummy cucumber salad.

    Do you deliver?

I don't work here, but I know they don't deliver.

Are they open for business? The last two times I have stopped by they have been closed.

Yes, they are open daily from 11a-930p, sometimes later on the weekends.

When will you be open for dine in?

They're open for dine in starting this week!

When will you be open for dine in?

    They are currently open daily.

    Do they allow dine-in again?

Last I went about 3 weeks ago they still had no inside seating.

Anyone know if they are open? I called them yesterday and today no answer.

I went by on Saturday, and the note attached to the door, states closed through 1/9/2022

Are they open on Christmas Eve?

Are they open today on July 5th, 2021?

I hope so. I want some now too. Lol let me know

How do I order through the phone if I keep getting a busy tone?

They only have one phone line. It's constantly busy. I've called over 70 times to make an order. It would be much simpler if they had online ordering but they're worth it.

    Open for indoor?

Yes they are open for indoor dining.

What delivery option do you have?

    They don't deliver.

Is this place open I went yesterday at 6 and it was close on a Saturday?

The power in the plaza might've been out. This has happened before and some restaurants in the plaza reopen but some decide to just stay closed.

Is this place under new management?

No, but the family opened a new place called "Sweet Rice" in Pacific Square and it seems they've been there rather than at Bowl Thai. Different Thai food, but same delicious taste.

    How are the Curry's?

I get the red curry all the time and it's delicious!

    How's their Tai tea?

Not the best I've ever had in LA but it's authentic. It's just a little bit too sweet for me. The best Thai tea so far for me is at Ruen Pair in Thai town.

What are the prices? no prices on their website...

    Anywhere between $9-11

This time, I called prior to see if they still had some on hand. When we arrived to the restaurant, the mango sticky rice was already stacked in containers ready to go - which is new to me. I've never seen that before. I ordered 2, we didn't order anything else. Idk if I had a bad batch or what but my kids & I thought it was ehh. It was .. okay I guess? But it wasn't the best we've had. Probably an unpopular opinion because all the reviews I see state it's the best they've had and i just didn't taste that. We didn't even finish it. The worker the second time I went wasn't the friendliest either. Parking is great since it's part of a big shopping center. There's tables & chairs outside as well where you can eat, which is where my kids & I ate. Tables are shaded so that's good.

The chicken was tender and the noodles were cooked perfectly. And the mango sticky rice?? SO good. The mango was sweet and juicy, while the sticky rice was soft, creamy, and super satisfying. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal for me! My manager picked everything up as takeout, and despite being to-go, the food still arrived fresh, warm, and delicious. The portions were also really solid. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I didn't get the chance to dine in and experience the atmosphere/service in person, but based on the food alone, I would absolutely order from here again.
