Visited this gem yesterday afternoon. Only take-out orders right now and you have to wait outside until it's done. The people were nice and friendly, nothing to complain about. The pad Thai was soooo good! And yellow curry was amazing. The perfect amount of heat and flavor was there. I loved my Thai Iced Tea as well with coconut milk. Personally, we weren't a big fan of the Thai Iced Coffee, but drank it none the less. The curry comes with a side of rice which was nice. I wanted to try the sibling of Sweet Rice, which was voted best Thai restaurant by Yelpers early in 2020! This restaurant focuses on traditional Thai cuisine, which features some exotic foods not normally found at Thai restaurants. This was the first time I've seen Basil Fried Rice, which was interesting, but not what I was used to, compared to Pineapple Fried Rice. Tom Yum soup was nice and warm in flavor, with seafood and and a broth that is tasty. The yellow curry is always a favorite of mine, as I can get about 3-4 meals out of one dish. A little pricey but it's really clean inside and the food is good. The food is decent but not as hearty as Thai food usually is. Still, it really hits the spot and I will definitely keep ordering! Tom Yum Noodles: this was the biggest disappointment. It isn't very flavorful but instead, really watery and thin. Tom Yum soup usually makes my cheeks tingle from the citrus and spicy flavors but this one was literally drowned by water. Pad See Ew: we both really enjoyed it. Simple food, but there is beauty in simplicity. Tozai Plaza has everything: tofu soup, udon, ramen, pho, hot pot, poke, Cajun-Creole, Marie Callender's... and I still gravitate towards this Thai restaurant more often than not. It's super easy to walk up to the counter, order some of my favorite dishes, and choose out a table (when it's not busy of course). The dishes are prepared pretty quickly, they don't offer many substitutes and modifications. It's super shareable with the whole family, and you can choose from a variety of specialities. Some are a pricer compared to the same menu items at nearby Thai restaurants, but I would saw the difference is negligible. Hands down they make a great pad see ew. It's probably one of my favorite noodle dishes, and the one at Bowl Thai is a flavorful mix of sweet and savory. I opt for chicken, but you can choose beef, pork, or shrimp as well. Get the satay too! The beef and chicken skewers are wonderfully marinated, and pair well with the peanut sauce. Always order some grains with the proteins, they make a pretty solid fried rice. Best Thai food in the Southbay. Hands down. Reminds me of of some of the places we ate in Thailand.

Literally ate take out from this place 3 days in a row. I always call ahead to pick the food up right away. Its a bit difficult getting a hold of them over the phone (line is often busy due to others trying to order-we just call back after 5 minutes) There is an abundance of parking spaces these days. Their lad nar has a bit of a smokey taste which is different but extremely delicious. Their pad see u(?) is also a little different than other places. However its really good. Their noodles are perfectly cooked! Pad thai is also bomb. I've also tried their yellow curry (my bf likes this one a lot) I think its ok for people who are lactose because they use coconut milk. This place is not as good as I thought it would be. A few improvements and it could be better. KABOCHA STIR FRY WAS UNCOOKED The kabocha was not cooked. It was hard as rock and that was so disappointing to me. If they just cooked it like 10 mins longer it would taste like it should. I almost sent my dish back but didn't want to make a scene. Also my fried egg was served cold...yuck.its like it had been sitting around. TOM YUM SOUP The broth was really good (fresh, limey, flavorful). The fishcakes in it were not good, but I just am a person who hates fish cakes!! Overall i liked this dish but would not order it again because there were too many fish cakes in it. THE BASIL STIR FRY It was pretty good. My boyfriend got it with crispy pork and it was good. Nothing amazing but a decent dish, and much better than mine. The crispy pork was cut in pieces i think are too small which causes it to become not just crispy but also dry. Crispy pork should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. THE DRINKS The drinks were the best part of our dinner. They were really traditional and delicious and rare finds! You cant get these drinks at most thai restaurants. I got the thai iced tea with lime. Its was amazing. I recommend it for people who like arnold palmers. My boyfriend got the sparkling drink with green syrup. It was really tasty and refreshing. Bowlthai is an outstanding local Thai restaurant located in the heart of Gardena. They offer traditional Thai dishes, some of which include my favorites; Pad See-Ew and mint leaves with ground chicken. I just added wonton soup with egg noodles to the list as well. The Services is friendly and accommodating. You order food at the counter and they will find you a table. At peak hours, the dining room is packed. Many people order to go and I see some orders for mobile delivery (not sure which service though as there is no signage to indicate which services deliver). Was with the love and his mama and they wanted Thai food so yelped around and saw that this place had really good ratings so we decided to check it out. Located in the Tozai plaza, amongst many other restaurants, is Bowl Thai. Walking in the door, you'll find menus to your right and straight ahead is where you place your order, and they'll assign you a table/seat. Came in on a Sunday night around 7:30p.m, and it was packed. We only waited about 15 minutes though so it wasn't bad at all. There is a parking lot, but its shared with everyone in the plaza so parking does get tough, especially during the dinner rush. 1. Pineapple Curry Fried Rice: Loved that the curry powder was not overbearing. I never knew that this dish came with Raisins. I personally don't like raisins but overall, you couldn't really taste it. Nothing special about this dish, but nothing bad about it. 2. Chicken Pad Thai: (Added extra noodles +$1.50) Love the texture of the noodles! Chewy but not to the point that its tiring to chew, if that makes sense, haha. I love the mochi like texture to these rice noodles. The flavor was also not bad, lacking on the sour aspect but I do like my pad thai pretty sour. Asked for limes, and unfortunately both limes BARELY had any juice, so I just had to deal with it. 3. Tom Yum Noodle Soup: This one was spicy! It kept me constantly drinking water, but it was a good kind of spice. We asked for extra noodles (+$1.50) so it made it have less soup. Wish there was a bit more flavor overall, but good dish. Overall: Food: 4/5, nothing special, but nothing bad. Presentation: 4/5, Fried rice came pretty messy. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. I've gone here for both lunch and dinner. The boat noodle soup is my favorite but I've also gotten the pad see ew and drunken noodles. Everything is delicious. The Thai flavored sodas and teas are incredible as well. As far as the atmosphere goes, the restaurant is chic and modern in its feel and decor and i love the casual dining aspect of it. Everytime I'm in LA, I come here to eat at least once. We decided to finally try this place out after eyeing it many times going to other restaurants in the Tozai Plaza. However, because it's in this plaza, we don't really come that often because that parking lot can be a real bummer. FOOD Ba Mee Nam (with broth) 4/5 Pad See Ew 2/5 The Ba Mee Nam is a noodle soup that comes with fishballs, fishcake, chashu, and yu choy. The broth is flavorful and refreshing and reminds me of wonton noodle soup. I don't really like the fishballs and fishcake as it tastes like it's from frozen packaging but when there is no where close by I come here to satisfy my noodle soup craving. The egg noodles are chewy and springy and I like to fill up my spoon with some noodles and soup to eat together. It's unfortunate that I had a bad experience with the Pad See Ew as it's one of the more common stir fry noodle dishes people order at Thai restaurants. My order took a long time to come and when it did, it was charred as if it had been slightly overcooked. It was hard to eat with the burnt smell and made my meal rather unenjoyable. I ended up just picking around the pieces that were ok to eat so that the food wouldn't be wasted. Those were ok but you'd have to be pretty bad to mess up a Pad See Ew. Overall: 3/5 SERVICE Ok. While waiting for the receipt to print out, the person at the register always tries to make small talk. Sometimes its ok and sometimes it just sounds forced. The utensils and water are self serve so the only other service they provide is bringing out your food. Typically it doesn't take too long but if there is an issue, it isn't too hard to flag someone down to ask. Overall: 3/5 DECOR/AMBIANCE Inside there are wooden tables and chairs with some shrubbery for decoration on the wall. The shrubbery and decorations are nice but the tables and chairs aren't always the cleanest, in particular the table number signs. I think they should get new ones because some are dingy and downright dirty. The tables are also somewhat close together (especially the tables for two) and you have to watch yourself getting in and out of your seat so you don't accidentally brush up on someone. Overall: 3/5 Overall I like the Ba Mee Nam the best here. I don't frequent this place often but if I'm in the area and want some Thai food, I can usually count on the Ba Mee Nam to be good. The Ka Na Moo Krob was crispy pork with Chinese broccoli, comes with rice and fried egg on top. It was really tasty, I would order it again. The basil stir fry chicken had some spice if you like it fire and they give you extra hot sauce on side to turn it into an inferno. Looking forward to trying some other items on the menu. Order was called in ahead but had to call a few times before getting through, so if you get a busy signal...keep trying, you'll get through sooner or later. My bf and I frequent the Tozai Plaza and always walked by Bowl Thai. We were curious to see what delicious Thai food they had to offer when its Yelp is a 4.5 star rating. We ordered the Tom Yum Noodle Soup, Satay Half & Half (chicken and beef) with egg fried rice (+$1), and the Pad Thai with Shrimp. The entrees were decently sized and portioned, and had lots of bold Thai flavors. The Tom Yum Noodle Soup was my favorite because the broth was tangy and opened up my tastebuds. There's tons of ingredients like minced pork, fishball, and fishcake that weren't necessarily packed with a lot of flavor, but still added to the overall cohesiveness of the dish. I also liked the Shrimp Pad Thai because the shrimp were cooked just right and everything tasted really fresh. Both beef and chicken satay were well-seasoned and tender, while the egg fried rice was pretty standard. Overall, I didn't have high expectations going into Bowl Thai, but I came out of the restaurant pleasantly surprised and my belly was very satisfied. I recently moved to Torrance and been on a search for Thai food for my cravings of home without having to drive all the way to Thai town to get it. The basil fried rice was so bland and barely tasted the basil. Thai basil is pretty cheap and easy to grow, could have definitely added more for that basil taste. This has been my go-to Thai place for years now. Way before the pandemic, I would come here by myself or with friends quite often. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is nowhere near what it once. The green curry has always been my dish of choice here but I honestly no longer enjoy it. The portion size is small and the taste is so inconsistent. Sometimes it's spicy sometimes it's dry sometimes the veggies are too hard and occasionally it'll be great. If there was a better Thai restaurant near to me, I would go there instead. They are really awesome about checking whether or not you need something fully vegan if they think that's the direction you're headed in (for example, I usually get things with tofu and without egg, so they'll usually ask to make sure I'm okay with something having fish sauce).
