The music was a mix of some of my old favorites--so much so that my friend and I were occasionally too busy vibing to follow instructions. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly patient with us. I loved the thoughtful Black touches throughout the space: the toilet paper, the napkins, even the chocolate-covered strawberry we received on arrival was dipped in rich, luxurious black chocolate... and yes, it was absolutely delicious. The walls of the shop will also adorned with all sorts of nostalgic Black pop culture pieces, to help tie the whole theme together. The energy from the moment I walked in the venue was welcoming, inviting, and just chill. My friend and I were a few minutes late, but Michelle and the rest of the team were so gracious. Even though we started late, we still got the full experience. The staff guided us through the process step by step, helping us select our jars, choose our fragrances, and create our candles. While our candles were curing, we were able to select from a wide variety of fun games to play, including Black Card Revoked and Cards Against Humanity. What was meant to be just a candle-making class turned into a hilariously enjoyable experience. This is such a fun and creative way to spend an afternoon. And who doesn't love a good candle? If you're looking for something fun to do with friends--whether it's a girls' day out, a bridal shower activity, or just something fun to do on a random day--I highly recommend this spot. The shop has a set of handcrafted items by young artist as well as teas by an organization called Skirted Soldier - which is a female Veteran Owned company. I cannot wait to try the Cold Weather Gear tea (gingerbread house black tea). This bag of loose tea includes tea bags. Nice touch! I enjoy shopping and supporting local and/or small businesses. After today, I understand why so many people say it has gone downhill. My husband called in advance to confirm their buy/sell practices before we ever drove over. Because paying spot price for gold and silver is not typical, he explicitly questioned it and confirmed it multiple times over the phone to make sure there was no mistake. Each time, he was told they pay spot price. Only after receiving that confirmation did we load our family into the car and drive out of our way to do business there. Once inside, the story suddenly changed. Instead of apologizing for the misinformation given by their own employee, the staff responded with dismissiveness, mockery, and open disrespect. While I stepped out briefly to retrieve items we had forgotten, my husband was treated as if he were wasting their time or trying to pull something dishonest, despite the fact that he had done exactly what a responsible customer should do by confirming details ahead of time. What stood out most was not just the misinformation, but the attitude: condescending, unprofessional, and openly hostile. No accountability. No attempt to resolve the situation. Just defensiveness and ridicule. Businesses that deal in valuables rely on trust. When staff are poorly trained, contradict one another, and then humiliate customers for relying on information they themselves provided, that trust is gone instantly. This experience was embarrassing, frustrating, and completely avoidable. The empty parking lot speaks for itself. If you value professionalism, transparency, and basic respect, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. I know we will -- permanently.

Throughout the maze there are post about medical history. We were able to social distance throughout the process, which made everyone at ease. Afterwards, we had a nice lunch under the provided umbrellas. This is a great place to visit if you want to get out the house and enjoy beautiful scenery. The staff was also very helpful and kind. We brought some beautiful flowers home with us. They allow you to pick as much as you like in a designated area.

While there are prints and photographs of Solomons, this is not tourist art, but real art. Carmen has another gallery in New Orleans. Check out her website at carmensgallery.com. Carmen is a terrific saleswoman, and the two cats are worth a visit. In addition to paintings, prints, and photographs, there is a very nice collection of jewelry. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a small store and there were only two people working. No one greeted me when I walked in, but I saw an employee helping someone pick out a book for her grandson, so I wasn't too upset about not being attended to. I was really just there to browse anyway :) I didn't really have anything specific in mind, but I found a ton of great books and items I would love to purchase. For being such a small store, they definitely have a great stock of books! Many of the books are unique and look like collector's items. I really want to buy The Wizard of Oz series eventually. However, I didn't want to spend too much so I only bought two books ($35 for both) and a small plush toy for $10. So in total, I only spent $45 which I thought was pretty reasonable seeing as this is a small bookstore and I love to support small, local businesses. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by and see what you may find :) They have books for all ages - from baby to teen!
