This is our second visit for Bowleys on the Bay and today is our 22nd anniversary. The food is delicious and well seasoned (not salty - seasoned). The manager greeted us without asking and had good conversation. The outside dining area is right on the soft sand adjacent to the water. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here today. I had the Bowley's burger and Maryland crab soup and left no morsel behind! You can't beat the ambience of this place. Beautiful decor and a great waterfront view that includes boats and palm trees. Loved the eagle we spotted and the planes flying over from the nearby Martin's airport. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were delighted with our dinner at Bowley's on the Bay! Adrian was a friendly and (not too too!) attentive server. The drinks weren't fab, but the food was delicious. I enjoyed the tuna tartare and Brussels sprouts. My friends enjoyed the duck, flatbread, and fish. We were bummed that there was no Smith Island cake on Maryland Day, but we were pretty full anyway. One suggestion? Eliminate or reduce the use of straws in beverages. Ask the customers if they want/need one. They're just terrible for the environment and can't easily work through recycling systems... read more

I was so excited to come here for the first time but unfortunately it was not a good experience. We had a reservation but had to wait. The bathroom was dirty (I held it and didn't go when I needed to go a second time). The cup they poured my water in was filthy and had things floating in it. The menu was very limited. It took 55 minutes to get our food and it was wrong (asked for no onions... husband asked for no mustard) and 2 people in our party didn't get food. The waitress didn't even notice the missing food and it took another 15 minutes to get her attention and another 15 for our food. My mom's crabcake was awful and overpriced (not jumbo lump, too much filler). My chicken wrap was inedible. The waitress was extremely flustered and said the kitchen is "terrible" today. We were kind because we felt bad but she seemed to shut down and had a terrible attitude from then on. First I'll start by stating that the waitress Kaley ( hope I spelled that correctly ) was amazing! I'm not big on tequila but the mango margarita with Casa is definitely 1000/10! The truffle fries were 8/10 I didn't know that they came with the balsamic sauce. The chicken wrap 10/10 but the spinach 6/10 I was expecting it to be sautéed but this wasn't. The cauliflower was 8/10. Overall my experience was really good and I'll be going back soon! read more

None of it was particularly good. It's edible. This time we ordered steamed shrimp, tough and below average taste. The cocktail sauce wasn't that good. Fingerling potatoes are very, very bland. My sister is moving into the area and we have been dining around to a few spots. We went to another waterfront restaurant that was very loud and busy, so on our last trip (this past Saturday), we stopped in here for lunch. We sat outside and had an excellent experience. The food was plenty good. The drinks were cold. And our service was spot on. The meals including the tuna, rockfish bites, flatbread pizza, and a burger. No complaints from anyone in the group. The shrimp salad wrap I had was good but the scallop pasta was very dry. The service was very slow and it wasn't busy at all. I came on a Monday afternoon, the staff needs better training the waiters weren't that friendly, she walked us to our seats and left an tablet and didn't even explain to us the tablet was the drink menu. read more

(This was written in June 2021 I just forgot to post it) Had to check out this new place. We had no idea it was on Long Beach Marina! Great area - quiet and beautiful. We went in on a Saturday night and were immediately seated. Their drink menu is all on a tablet. The bar area looked nice! We were in the dining area which is a mix of fancy dining + beachy coastal vibes with white wicker chairs. Odd combination. Heaviest water glasses ever but they were blue and matched the chandelier so they're cute! We had the blackened mahi-mahi which was very hearty, not as flakey as it normally it. The sauce (dill lemon butter) on it was yummy, but it wasn't my favorite mahi-mahi. It came with cut asparagus with corn, which was sorta sweet, then some Spanish rice. I got the coffee rub filet, and while I couldn't taste the coffee (are you supposed to?) it was AMAZING! So so tender and delicious. I loved all the extra veggies with the pasta. Big pieces of mushroom too, which I loved. For dessert we got the special, which was a key lime tart. It had raspberries on top with whipped cream, and it was on either a raspberry or strawberry purée. This was one of the best desserts I had had in a while, and the best key lime tart I think I've ever had. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!! For drinks we got the Raven martini. I don't usually write a review but I do rely on them when selecting a place to eat...go figure. After reading the reviews I can only agree with regards to service. Our server lacked patience but I will say she (Kirsten) was patient with my elderly friend Thank you. The food was okay it didn't wow me at all but what I enjoyed most was being with friends. My fiancé and I have decided to leave the Marina this year and find a new one. We've been disappointed by the way the owner, Dr. Sam, has treated his restaurant employees over time. The staff works hard and are good people, especially those who stayed through the winter. We don't want to stay at a place where people are treated so poorly. Our first time trying this spot out. We were looking to sit outside to enjoy the water and sunset. We waited over an hour for a table before deciding to sit inside in what looked like a big dull extension hall. I was pissed to say the least. The hostess did not care or go out of the way to find us better seating. Also seemed like many folks who looked like me were sitting inside. Any who ...we also asked to sit in the bar area where there were open windows...at first the hostess told us yes we could split our group up using two tables. Then she came back saying actually our GM wants one of the tables. I have better places to spend my money and take my family and friends to...I don't recommend this place. A beautiful beach setting with a wonderful view. Our server, Kate, was very nice and helpful with suggestions on the menu. We went with a seared tuna appetizer which just melted in your mouth. My wife got the Summer Scallops which came with a nice portion of scallops and fresh vegetables. The scallops were not overcooked and had great flavor. I got the Blackened Mahi-mahi and was impressed with the portion of the fish and the rice and vegetables. My stars are for the ambience and the drink, also the waitress tried her best even though she could tell we weren't too happy with the food we ordered. The food was just not good. I ordered a summer salad and added seared tuna. The salad was small, more like a side salad really, and did not look very appetizing. Mind you this was a $30 plate. I'd expect a bit more for that. The other dish ordered was the seafood pasta. It looked like a big mess with hardly no pasta and the sauce was very watery and runny, more like a soup. None of our dishes tasted that good either. So disappointed. Left with a $87 check for these two dishes and one drink, and yeah they added 18% gratuity. Tip - don't have fancy dishes on the menu if you can't make them. For the prices you would expect something better. I'd only be back for drinks, maybe.. However, the food is not worth what they charge for it. read more

My wife and I invited a friend for lunch and we decided to try BOTB. I checked the write ups and it looked like a really nice place with outdoor seating and a great menu! Due to gusty winds we were told to eat inside. Got seated promptly and in a few minutes our waitress placed water for us and took my drink order. From here the experience starts a steady decline. It took about a half hour for my drink. We then ordered. Appetizers 2 cups and 1 bowl of cream of crab soup and an order of the fried green tomatoes. About 30 minutes later, a young man brings out 3 cups of soup! I told him one was to be a bowl of soup, so he took it back. The 2 cups of soup were a few degrees above cool! When my bowl came out I had him wait until I tasted mine. It too was almost room temperature. I asked him to take back and just microwave a little to get them hot. He returned and they were nice and hot BUT the crab meat that was a topping had vanished! The soup itself was not that good with tiny scraps of crab meat. Our waitress come back to see if I wanted another drink and I switched to iced tea which she brought back in just a few minutes. This would be the last time we saw in her for what seemed like an hour. She never checked for refills for water or tea. The entrees were fair at best. Not hot but lukewarm crab cakes and cold truffle fries. We were tired of waiting so long for this meal so we ate some, and after a while the waitress showed up. We asked for boxes and she was going to give us our check but we did want dessert which seemed to catch her off guard. The shining moment out of all this was dessert! Two were excellent but the crème brûlée was cold! A gentleman, I'm guessing the manager, came by and asked how everything was and we told him that most of the items were cold. He apologized for it and did comp the soups. He was very nice but I wished I would have mentioned how really inattentive the waitress was. Will not be going back. read more

The service was horrible, and the food was BLAND. I ordered a bowl of MD crab soup, and it was served in a bowl the size of a teacup. There were NO vegetables and only a dollop of crab meat in what looked like old tomato soup with old bay as it was BROWN in color, not RED from fresh tomatoes. The steak I got was unseasoned, though it did come with mint chimichurri sauce, which was excellent. The steak was burnt and most raw on the other side as it was supposed to be medium. The first two bites tasted more like an uncleaned grill. The fingerling potatoes were good, but again little seasoning of salt. The wilted spinach was spinach cooked in unsalted water and BLAND. We ordered the banana bread pudding, which took 20 minutes to arrive. We were about to cancel it, when it arrived and should have canceled it. It was not warm and no taste. We finally had to flag the manager down to get our bill as we waited 15 minutes with no response from our server. It's a pretty location, but clearly come for drinks and NOT the food. Thought we would try something new for my wife's birthday but it was a bust. After we inquired about the long wait we were told that the kitchen was really backed up and management said not to sit anyone else until they said so. Apparently the head chef quit and took some cooks with him. Had we been told up front about the wait we would have went someone else, we also had 4 children with us. Be forewarned, if you go on a Sunday before 11am, you can't sit outside (which is the point of going to a waterfront restaurant). Our birthday brunch was less than great. Despite being one of 3 only occupied tables, the food was not hot (although prepared well). Had to ask for utensils, butter, salt and pepper, coffee refills. Waiter was polite but seemed to be elsewhere. We had to bus our own dishes to enjoy opening gifts. And with a pricey menu, $24 eggs Benedict, we left feeling disappointed/ignored. Note the gratuity is already added to your bill; we had to go back and address the the double tip. Minor point, I ordered a grapefruit crush. Asked if they serve crushed ice and was told yes. The drink came on ice and was weak, tasted like Sprite. (sigh) Too bad because the view is nice and the outdoor seating on sand with palm trees. read more
