Lately I have been on a hunt for chicken wings, especially honey old bay. These wings tonight were perfect. And Alice's has them. Moist, tender, and full of flavor. 8 wings/order $13 Served with ranch or blue cheese with a few sticks of celery. They also have soup of the day, beef barley hit the spot my husband said. First of all the good news; the waitress was very friendly, the mixed drinks were good, and the french onion soup was great. Looking around at the other tables the comfort food like sandwiches, burgers, and tacos looked good. Now the bad news. This is a small comfort food restaurant so the kitchen isn't very big. If they're busy expect to wait 40 minutes to get your food. The crab cakes are mostly filler with a lot of bread. I tried the sea scallops and looked more like little bay scallops. I only got about 6 or 7 of them. So your best bet is to order what they are known for, comfort food and you'll be fine. read more

This place tampers with you nose from the moment you walk in the door. As soon as you are seated you are given a menu and a list of daily specials and several minutes to choose. We were just a little hungry so soup it was. Beef stew and French onion soups. My soup was on the warm side so they took back the (french. Onion )and remade it. Both soups were still a bit salty, but really good. Service was perfect. As an aside, they decorate for the holidays. The inside opposite the cashier they have some delicious cake slices. Came for a meet up with friends. Quite a drive from NW Baltimore County though. However, the warm sourdough rolls were a good welcome. Our waitress was very attentive and a joy. I got the fried flounder which was fried perfectly served with French fries and a very good Cole slaw. The food was portion was very generous. The restaurant had a homely feel and quite steady. Their breakfast menu has many options. Everything we tried is always tasty especially the cream chipped beef over the fried potatoes with onions, topped with over medium egg. Also, their jumbo lump crab cake on the brioche roll with bacon and LTM is delicious for lunch or dinner. We never have been disappointed with the food. Service has always been good. We stopped in for a drink at the bar before hitting Bengies Drive-In. Little did we know they have an extensive menu including items like soft crabs, crabcake, chicken pot pie, pot stickers and more. Burgers, casadillas, oysters, rockfish bites...the list goes on. We brought some dinner with us so all we had were a few Manhattan's. A tad sweet but still VERY good. The food is very good, especially the chicken cheesesteak sub. I have one problem with them. They charged me .75 cents for fried onions. Who does that? I recommend that the owner read the book "Give 'em The Pickle". This was my first time back here in 6 months. I'll be back in another 6 months and see if they have changed their policy. I have been coming here for several years, and my in-laws even longer. For quite some time, we have been having issues with getting credited for our reward points under their loyalty program. When we came in tonight, we again inquired about the points and were told they would absolutely resolve the issue tonight. Eventually our food was brought out. My mother-in-law ordered the quesadilla, but said the chicken tasted off as if it had been microwaved. She asked to send it back and replace it for something else, stating she would still pay for the quesadilla and the replacement food. The owner of the restaurant came out a few moments later asking for an explanation for why the quesadilla was sent back. My mother-in-law told her the same thing she told the waitress, to which the owner replied, "We don't microwave our food". My mother-in-law explained that it's just how it tasted and it didn't taste right. The owner then asked what were they supposed to do, just give her another meal? My mother-in-law reiterated her willingness to still pay for everything, but also stated she didn't appreciate the way the owner had approached her because they were regulars. The owner's response was to state that my mother-in-law was "always" the problem when she came in. Admittedly I am not with my in-laws every time they go there, but in the countless times I have been there I've never seen my mother-in-law send back food. But at that point the rest of the family asked for boxes because we no longer felt welcomed there. My mother-in-law stated she wouldn't be back, and the owner felt it necessary to follow up by saying they were no longer welcome there. The owner also apparently decided she didn't want our group's money, as our entire check was comped. This last part is pure hearsay, so take it as you will, but we have previously been told by staff that the owner steals tips from the wait staff. Obviously I cannot verify this information, I can only report what I have been told, so I will simply pass on what I've been told and let the reader decide whether the wait staff should be trusted in their claims. Remember when this was Crab Quarters? I miss that giant crab on the building. I wonder what happened to that thing... I quite liked the hardwood floors (why do restaurants ever install carpet? It gets so dingy), and how far the tables were spaced from each other. The fireplace below the HUUUUGE television is relaxing. And I bet it would be sweet to watch sports at this restaurant, if that's your thing. The boyfriend did not like the slightly crafty, slightly nautical decor but I feel like it fit with the whole "family restaurant" thing. I grew up in the area. My parents had a gigantic painting of a sea captain above our mantle when we were growing up. So the restaurant hit those nostalgia notes for me. The cream of crab soup is fine. Not as good as Richardson's, a million times better than By the Docks. My mom had a barbecue chicken and shrimp quesadilla and I don't think she liked it. It was cut into four pieces. She only ate one. She insisted that we take a piece home with the leftover half of my cheese steak sub (like Steak Ums, with maybe 15 strips of grilled onion and two pieces of American cheese melted on top. Would not recommend). Fries were good. Unseasoned, unsalted, but that makes sense. Some people are salt-free, and good for them - but I need my fries salted. The boyfriend had the Rodeo burger, which has onion rings, cheddar cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. He liked it A LOT. But he hated the pickle. The popcorn shrimp were perfectly acceptable. Overall a fine experience, but we will not return. Nothing on the menu sang out "Next time you need to get...." like the Riverwatch. Alice, honey, you need to step up your game. read more

Let me start off by saying this place is very much a neighborhood restaurant. You go in and it's no frills. I can say that we really wanted to enjoy this because it's so close to home. We had two visits here. The first was okay. Our server was fast and she gave us lovely mimosas and our meals came out very fast. It was satisfying and we went on our way. The second was terrible. We waited a bit for our table, then sat at a tiny table. It was silly as my fiancé is 6'4 and large. Then our server started off a bit unfriendly. My fiancé believes it's because we are an interracial couple but I think maybe she was a bit overwhelmed but she told me I needed to speak up when ordering but then began interrupting me. I had to repeat myself more than twice. Then she took a while to bring us our drinks. We waited a good nearly 30 minutes for food. We watched a table of three eat their food a good ten to fifteen minutes before us. Finally, our server noticed that our table was too small for the two of us so she moved us. Then another 10 minutes passed and our food came. The waffles. Hard as a rock. Didn't want to risk losing any teeth. Our meals were lukewarm at best. Needless to say, Alice's isn't for us. read more

Good food; service needs work. I've eaten here twice in the last three months. The food is good and I think the pricing is reasonable. Love the desert options, so many yummy choices and they come from Yia Yias. Some of the things we ordered were - cream of crab soup, meatloaf, steamed shrimp, crab quesadilla, cheeseburger, fried chicken and soft crab sandwich. Everything was good and everyone liked their meals. My only critique for the food was the cream of crab soup did not have very much crab at all, so I will skip it next time. I will go back again. I do think the service needs improvement. I had two different servers each visit and they seemed to struggle with covering their tables each time. (Restaurant was not full) it would take a while to get their attention for drink refills ,missing food items, condiments, or extra napkins etc. Each visit the meals were missing items ordered- it was fine since we weren't charged but it seems they need a bit better attention to detail. Also, the runner that brought out the food, stood at the end of the table (7top) and handed me all the plates for me to hand to everyone at our table. I don't mind helping out, but, the plates were hot and we had kids at the table that had to help pass the food out. Seems like a better approach would be to move around the table instead of having one guest hand out the food. He was a younger guy so maybe this is new to him and he just needs to learn. My only issue with the place is that their iced coffee is simply handing you a carafe of hot coffee and a glass of ice. I am a big coffee drinker, and require stronger coffee. Having to pour hot coffee over ice results in a very watered-down week cup of coffee... This made me very sad as everything else about my visit was excellent. If I can give the business one piece of advice it's to please please please get on the iced coffee bandwagon, especially on 90 plus degree summer days. I ordered the deluxe omelette, which was very good, and came with home fries and toast. My wife ordered a BLT quesadilla, which she enjoyed, and that's what counts. I did not like lettuce inside a quesadilla, but that's really kind of irrelevant isn't it. The people were very friendly, and the service was adequate. I'm sure I will be back, the next time I'm in the area, I just hope by then they up their iced coffee game, as 2 others in my party only drink cold coffee, and one of them lives in Middle River, near this place..... We ordered last night. The delivery time was great. The food was ample and everyone ate it all. The flounder delicious. The steak was butter tender. The picky eaters ate it all. We really like this restaurant. Most of the people working there are very nice. On the other hand, the food is hit or miss; sometimes it is good and other times, not so good. The service is pretty much in the same category. It appeared from our visit today that many senior citizens go there often and are regulars, which is great, as I am a senior myself. On the other hand, they appeared to receive preferential treatment while the not-so-regulars had to wait. I am posted this not because I want to get anyone into trouble, but because many of my friends and acquaintances who have gone there have noticed the same thing. Today, a server told us three different times that she would be right with us. Not long later, a group of seniors arrived, she recognized them immediately, neglected us and took their order even though we arrived ten minutes earlier. You can do better Alice's.! read more

Very disappointed. Went in on Sunday about 8am and the place was fairly busy but there were several empty tables. Lady at the counter asked for our names and said we were 1st on the list and it would be a couple of minutes. After about 1o minutes there were many people behind us and now there were nine empty tables and the lady behind the counter asked if anyone would like to sit at the bar while waiting for a table. Still 9 empty tables. People behind us left, then another couple left. After 15 minutes we left as did some other people. Total lack of management. I have been a loyal customer for over 5 years and now I don't know if I should avoid going there on weekends or just avoid going there all together. read more

Since, I contemplated returning and trying lunch/dinner, almost ordered through a delivery service a couple of times but never pulled the trigger. Today we popped in for lunch and... - super friendly, family service. "Family" restaurant imo because it's run by family and they welcome you as family too. - decent menu that includes apps, sandwiches, salads, soups, a little home style and a little seafood. Pretty well balanced. - yes, Yelp, the ambience is casual. Our food took a little bit to come out, but I think we hit them at a shift change as they were wiping many tables following a lunch rush and new servers were arriving while the first shift was saying their goodbyes. As the kids grew impatient, 30min later the food arrived. Shrimp salad was perfect. Seasoned nicely, plump shrimp, and usually I toss the roll because it's junk but this brioche roll w/ lettuce and tomato squeezed everything together wonderfully. French fries hot, crispy, fresh. Side salad was well done. Buffalo chicken wrap was fantastic. And the kids burgers were hand made, hot and good to go! The place reminds me of an Eastern Baltimore county seafood joint I grew up with in the 1980s, and in a good way. It takes you back to '80s Dundalk, Essex, Middle River, or East Baltimore city. Crabs dumped on tables, the smell of Old Bay, crab soup, and all the other things that come with it. Full bar, casual atmosphere and solid food. Down side... Screeching kid in a relatively empty restaurant killed my ears... Second... I have told them multiple times that their hours are incorrect on Yelp I guess they don't care if they are losing business? Their hours at this time are saying they are only open 2 hours everyday in the morning Closed the rest of the time... My wife and I stopped in for take out for our anniversary dinner. We both had the 8 oz. crab cake platter. The crab cake was excellent! Lots of meat, very little filler and perfectly broiled. I had masked potatoes and baked beans as my sides. The potatoes were real and not instant. They were very good. The baked beans were good but clearly from a can. The service was a little slow, about 30 minutes, but it was a very busy Saturday night so I expected that. Overall I loved my meal and will definitely return. read more

Went for brunch on a Saturday morning. The service was amazing I had the Maryland crab cake breakfast, it came with broiled crab cake, home fries, 2 eggs which I choose over easy and a side of toast or English muffin in which I choose English muffin. Everything was amazing. And the crab cake was all crab, very good! My boyfriend had the crab Benedict, with home fries. He enjoyed it very much. The hollandase sauce was very good. We went to Alice's for brunch for the first time this past weekend. We've been for dinner before and I've always been pleased. When we pulled in the parking lot was packed, but we are able to be seated right away. It was a little loud in the dining room, but there were three big tables. But the noise level was perfect for our toddler that can be loud sometimes. My husband and I both had omelettes and they came with home fries and toast! Our omelettes were delicious and just the right size. Maya was our server and she was excellent. She was very attentive, she was very honest that the food might take a few extra minutes because of the big parties. She kept our waters filled and just a very nice pleasant girl. My husband and I are big coffee drinkers and we love that we each got our own little carafe to leave at the table(1 regular 1 decaf)! The flavored creamers are a nice touch also!
