We have NOT had a good experience with Bowman. We had our landscaping designed and work started last summer. We got to a certain step in the process and work stopped. It was during the heat of the summer and we were worried about the plants they would put in the heat but they stated that we had a year for any that died. Suddenly, all work stopped. We finally contacted Bowman to see what was going on and they said that the two designers and engineers for our property had suddenly quit. Bowman apparently did not consider the customers. We finally got their attention and had a meeting. At that time they suggested other plants that were not what we wanted but were available at that time. They were straggly plants and over the winter we have had a dozen plants die. We have several months remaining but they have told us that they now only guarantee plants for 90 days. That was not the agreement last year. Several of our neighbors had bad experiences with Bowman also. There are many good landscapers around but NOT Bowman. read more

Hurry up and Wait!! I called them requesting an estimate. it took more than a week for the estimator to come out. after the job review he said it would be 8 to 14 days before I would receive the quote. I asked to please keep it within a week. I waited until one week and called in. I was told the quote would be completed by Friday (2 more days). I called back on Friday and after the person answered the phone, she had a conversation with her supervisor. She then came back and said they were swamped and that they could not get to my proposal and would refer me to another company. This is at least a $20,000 job so I got got dumped apparently for something bigger. I wasted two weeks of my time waiting on Bowman and then got dumped back to another contractor for another wait . We had read about few reviews about this company but I decided to use them because they were close and timing was perfect. We called, Brian Gagne came out quickly and it was his knowledge and ability to communicate what their company could do that sold us on this company. Honestly, that was the last thing that went according to plan. Our job is small....epoxy the floor and screen in the porch as it stands. Part of being able to accomplish these two things was to remove the handrails on the porch. We indicated that was fine BUT the project needed to be finished either before Christmas as we had grandkids coming or it could be done in January, we were in NO RUSH. From here, things went down hill and fast. Evidently, without any communication, we were assigned a project manager. Coming home from errands one day a flooring guy was walking around to the back of the house, he told us we couldn't do what we wanted to do, all he did was paint no epoxy. I sent word back with him to tell Bowman the flooring was off the project as I didn't want more paint....I needed something non-slip. A day or two later I get a call from a guy, honestly I can't remember who, that dang, he didn't understand the project and he sent out the wrong guy. We waited two weeks! So, new guy comes out and no problem he can do epoxy and let's us know when he will be back. I get call from Bowman guy (BG) confirming the date and this guy will show up too to introduce us. The BG shows and the flooring guy shows and I make a comment about removing the rails. The BG says he can't remove the rails, it'll be dangerous, I get it but they need to come down to do the work and install different rails. BG comes back after a call, with a pair of needle nosed pliers to remove the rails. Now I don't know about you, but pliers do not do a great job in removing screw nuts. So my husband goes into his personal tool box to get a pair of wrenches and together they remove all the nuts and lift the rail off the bolts. Now the bolts that protrude need removal. We go back to his tool box to get an angle grinder and personally removes all the bolts...that's four/post; five posts. We do the work. Flooring guy finally gets to work. Do you see the issues that are happening? Epoxy guy schedules with us...and does a pretty good job. I'm not unhappy but it's not perfect. Then the waiting starts again. Can't put up the screens for two days after epoxy BG tells me, I say they were done at 10 am so 10 am two days later seems like a good start time. Oh no, they couldn't possibly start mid-morning (which would have been Thursday) and they can't start on a Friday because it takes two days...seriously? It is a straight line of screening. And then it is time for the screening guy to go on vacation and he's gone until January. So not only did the job not get done before Christmas but I also didn't have rails on the porch so it was unusable. When the screening guy finally does come out, it took one day. However, when we looked at the finished product they didn't line up the screen door with the house door and looked horrid and additionally the screen door couldn't open all the way because the handrail would have been in the way, both issues mentioned in the initial meeting . So it ended up taking two days because they had to redo the door. Two very nice owners Janice and Jordan came to the house last week to discuss the problems we had with our project. We listed all our issues and they apologized telling us they are growing and the new staff didn't inform them of any problems until after it was over. Interesting to note the screening guy is their son. Communication is important they told us as we felt that was a common problem throughout. Now you would think, but you would be wrong, they might discount my bill because they admitted they didn't do what they advertised and we had to provide manpower and tools. Nope. They asked for the total amount. Two stars because they basically got the job done but lacks a five star because they can't do what they advertised. read more

I checked around for my fence and landscape work, hands down the results led me to Bowman. Me fence was phase one and I could not be anymore pleased. It was installed on time, and the worker was very professional. No mess to clean up, very good job. Phase 2 was the landscape of my new home. Janice met with me went over my request and came up with a plan which was within my budget. I am absolutely amazed at the results. There workers were very friendly and very professional. She designed the perfect blend of trees and shrubs to enhance my yard. I would highly recommend anyone to consider this company. I have a fall project and Bowman will get my business again. Bowman solicited us as we moved into our new home. Every phone call was two or three times to get someone to come to the house. We were patient due to the storm, but once we had someone come we never received a quote. We asked again when we saw the them in person in the neighborhood and were told it was coming. 3 weeks later and still nothing. We have hired someone else, but the customer service this company gives would make me skeptical of hiring. If you are swamped with work then just please tell us and we would have moved on right away. We were not the cookie cutter job and I don't think they wanted to have to think about the job. read more

Not the best, not the worst. Look around Bowman did our phase 1 project of our backyard. We had seen their trucks in the area and being new to the city, we contacted them for a quote and ideas. Their front office is totally unorganized and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is up too. We got different stories each time we called. They do know their way around our HOA which was good. They did good work on our hard scape and building except for installing drains which I haven't called them yet to come put them in. It was time to start Phase 2 of our landscaping. Bowman does not provide detailed quotes. Maybe they don't know how because my husband called them to see if a few things could be taken out and their complaint was that they would have to re-do everything to get a new one. When we mentioned we thought the quote was on the high side, we were told "that sometimes when you go grocery shopping you might have to take some things out of the cart." Unprofessional. Now working on Phase 2 with another company, and it is a world of difference. Bowman does not appear to be experts at irrigation. We have found a lot of issues that our irrigation had to be redone. We deal directly with the owner, no round around with a front office. We received a very detailed quote with square footage indicated, each plant itemized, costs for irrigation, and we knew exactly what to expect. Changes were easily accommodated. Creative ideas were offered. Their quote was less than Bowmans. Their workers speak English and are very mannerly and clean up each day. I am proud to show off my yard. There's a reason bowman is called Bowman Construction. That's probably their strength. read more

Horrible customer service!! Had someone come out to give an estimate for a landscape project and after more than 3 weeks waiting for an estimate I called the company. Woman that answered the phone was completely clueless and rude and told me it's very usual for estimates to take that long. What?!! Our other estimates came in the same day. Ridiculous!! A representative of Bowman Construction came to my home in Sun City promptly to prepare a bid for a fence. While it took a few days to receive the final bid, I was impressed with the company's professionalism and knowledge of the permitting processes. The bid was very competitive compared to other wrought iron fence options. While I decided, ultimately, to to with another pet containment method), I wouldn't hesitate to refer Bowman Construction to anyone and I will also contact them when I am ready to add a patio and extended porch to my home. read more

Used them for our new home in Sun City. Major landscaping front and back with amenities. Designed exactly what I wanted at a fair price. Workers were professional. Completed project turned out beautiful with many compliments. Referred to numerous neighbors and they have all been pleased. What makes them stand out above many of the contractors our neighbors used was their long-term follow up. As with any big project a few items had to be fixed later. On March 20th I stopped by Bowman's booth at the Sun City vendor fair as they have done several jobs in our neighborhood. The lady I spoke with is, I believe, one of the owners. We were interested in having some stone work as well as either a pergola or awning over our back patio and she assured me that someone would call to set up an appointment. Having not heard from them by March 31, I sent a note through their website. Being as that was over a month ago, I am not sitting by the phone waiting for their call. They must either have more business than they can handle or have absolutely no concern about their reputation..... or both. We found the office staff competent and courteous and for the QUALITY of labor and materials we felt they were comparable in price for services rendered. My husband and I had an appointment on Wednesday with a representative from this company and received a phone call from them a little after the appointment time asking to reschedule cause the lady that was coming didn't feel well. That's ok, we all get sick sometimes, so we rescheduled for today, Friday at 9:00 a m. At 9:35 I called the office to ask where she was and the girl who answered the phone said she would call her and hoped nothing was wrong since she knew she had left 30 minutes ago (note this time would already have been late). Now the best part! The office lady called me back in a few minutes saying, "She was there at 9:05, rang the doorbell twice and when no one answered, she went to the back and measured the patio to give us a bid on the screen". After verifying the address they had, which was correct, I informed them that we were here, we had been here, and not only that but we have a small dog that gets very loud over even a car door much less when the doorbell rings. What happened? I don't know but I will never call for anything from this company ever again. There are too many good contractors out there who want and can use your business. read more

I will do my best to be fair and objective with this review and state the facts. 12 years ago, I contracted Choate Irrigation to do landscaping, and build a fence and patio in my new house. They contracted out the patio to Bowman Construction. First thing that happened was their workers went to Cinco de Mayo in Mexico after starting the project and didn't come back after a week. I contacted Bowman and they took care of the problem and gave me a $500 credit which was great! But I question why they didn't notice the area was wet or double check to make sure the sprinklers were capped. About 3 or 4 years ago, I was having a problem with the facing of the patio's stones "peeling". Bowman came out and told me it was because of the type of stone Choate had specified. I told them I thought there was a sprinkler head still on under the patio and they assured me there wasn't. I recently had a problem with my sprinkler system and called another irrigation company who came out and fixed the problem and in checking the rest of the system, told me I had water coming out from under the patio when one of the zones was running. I never go out when the sprinklers are running so would not have noticed and even after being told I had a hard time finding it but did finally see it. Called Bowman, was told warranty way over (understandable) and Choate was responsible for the irrigation part. Choate tells me I never contracted for the sprinkler heads to be capped (what part of building over a yard would not include sprinkler heads being capped???). Long story short, I know its been too long, but in the interest of doing what's right, neither company would come out a look, let alone offer to even fix the problem AT COST, which I would have been perfectly happy with, So make sure you deal only with a company that is doing the work themselves and then micro manage the entire time they are working to make sure they do what they should be doing. read more
