Really cool vibe and the food was pretty delicious overall. We came for brunch and absolutely loved the crème brûlée doughnuts, and the coffee was great as always. The service was good too, although there were a couple of times we had to look for our server. My biggest complaint is the noise level. With the concrete floors and glass walls, the sound really carries. It was so loud during brunch that we were practically yelling across the table just to have a conversation. Some rugs, acoustic panels, or anything to help absorb the sound would make a huge difference. My parents also found the empanada hot sauce extremely spicy, so just a heads-up if you're sensitive to heat. Overall, good food and a fun atmosphere--I'd definitely come back, especially if the acoustics were improved. read more

First time visiting this location, but second time at Box St in general. You can't help but want to love this place because it's cute and welcoming, but the food really isn't anything special. I have yet to try something that makes me think 'wow, I can't wait to try that again. ' I went on a Saturday with a friend during restaurant week and they were packed with quite a wait. Don't make the same mistake I did. Make a reservation! So my maybe unpopular opinion on the food is as follows... The strawberry French toast was a bit hard to eat as served. I personally would have appreciated some syrup so it's not as dry. The toppings are very sweet though so I get why they serve it without. The burrito looks so lonely on the plate with no side to accompany it... but I ordered it since it's one of the few breakfast plates with a protein included. It was pretty good, but I wish they would scramble the eggs and mix up the toppings. I kept getting bites of just egg and tortilla. My ube latte was good with a very subtle flavor but I prefer my hot coffee to be served hot, not at room temp. Really enjoyed our brunch at the new Box St. All Day at The Portico! So glad they take reservations too! Everything was great, although the noise level in the back room was a little much and made conversation difficult. We started with the potato flautas and black bean & cheese empanadas, both delicious. I had the breakfast sandwich with chicken sausage, a hibiscus sparkler and cappuccino, while everyone else tried the chilaquiles and Bacon Jam Boy. Everything was SO good! Service was great too, friendly, attentive and checked on us often. Our only issue was the acoustics in the back room. It was full and LOUD, which made conversation pretty difficult. Hopefully they're able to add some sound absorption because otherwise everything was fantastic! Next time we'll probably try the bar or front room. read more

Food: 4/5 - wife got the Caesar salad (chicken), I opted for the club sandwich and our friend got the fish tacos. Interesting take on a club, salad was solid and tacos good but a challenge to enjoy without a huge mess. Service: 3/5 - nothing to complain about but nothing that stood out? I was super excited to hear that they were opening this location near my home. I love their aesthetics, their food and their friendly workers. We went for happy hour, which is from 2 to 4. They have great deals on their happy hour menu. I had the fries to start with. I especially enjoy their margarita because they don't use a mixer and all their ingredients are fresh. For my main meal I had the breakfast sandwich. You could add another protein if you'd like, but I got mine as is. It was big enough to fill me up and had great flavor. My friends got the chicken Club and the hot fried chicken sandwich The chicken club was the winner between both, but they said both were also very good. The hot chicken sandwich was spicy. If you're headed there on the weekend, get ready for a 40-60 min wait. We waited 45 minutes. The food was good. Not sure I'd go again, it was just too busy, and a bit expensive for what we got. Box St. All Day was a nice spot for brunch. We had reservations and were seated quickly. For a weekday morning, the restaurant was pretty packed so I recommend making reservations. The ambiance is light and airy with pink tones, and a hip-hop theme throughout. I loved the 'To all the ladies in the place with style and grace' mural, and the 'It's all good, baby baby' quote on the drinking glasses. There are lots of breakfast, lunch, coffee and cocktail options on the menu, which made deciding what to order a little difficult :) Our server, Richard, was great. When we mentioned that someone in our party was celebrating a birthday, he brought over a sprinkled doughnut with a candle, which was a nice surprise and much appreciated! read more

We made a reservation yesterday and visited around noon for a nice anniversary brunch. Our waiter was super friendly, attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The food came out quickly, and everything we ordered was delicious. We've been to the La Cantera location several times, and I would say this new location is just as good! My mom, sister and I had an amazing brunch at Box St All Day! After enjoying some coffee, we ordered the Eggs Benny, the Fried Chicken Sandwich, and the Smoked Gouda Pasta Salad with Smoked Salmon. The aesthetics and decorations of the restaraunt were so vibrant and pretty and we never had an issue with our waiter who always made sure I had my coffee cup filled and that we had fresh water. I ordered the Eggs Benny which had perfectly poached and runny eggs with a delicious rich and creamy hollandaise. However, I was disappointed with the size of the English muffin given the price and the bacon I had added on the side was way too overcooked making it hard and dry. Other than that, the hash browns were perfectly crisp and the salad was so fresh and tasty! My mom and sister absolutely loved the meals they ordered and after trying a few bites, they were great but the size of the chicken sandwich is a bit small for its price. I was so excited to try the new location for Box St All Day and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is decorated with the same decor as the other two locations and for being relatively new, I was very impressed with how well staffed they were. My service, food quality, and experience were all equivalent to the other 2 established Box St. restaurant locations that I have frequented. We went for brunch on a busy weekend, but had reservations and they seated us timely. I had the eggs Benedict. It was paired with a delicious side of crispy hashbrowns and field greens with a vinaigrette dressing. It's nice to have some healthy sides to pair with my less than healthy meal choices. I had an Americano coffee, I love their coffee choices for times when I'm not doing a brunch cocktail. (They are delicious as well). Overall, this was a great experience and I am so excited to have a location so close to my home. I think I found my new go to brunch spot. read more

My first time going to Box Street was Thursday for brunch with a friend. I believe our waiter's name was Jeremiah. It was very nice. Very good ambiance however it was the coldest place. It took a little while to thaw out. I had pancakes which I never order and bacon. It was very good unfortunately they have no way of heating up the syrup which would make the pancakes taste so much better if they were able to put the syrup in the microwave just for 20 or 30 seconds that would've been superb that is one criticism and why I did not give them five stars. My friend had this huge cake like looking pancake. She only ate. I think a third of it. all in all, it was very nice and I would plan to go back. In fact I decided to bring my grandson there for Saturday afternoon lunch which I did do our waiter was Connor Saturday we made a reservation for 2:30 Our waiter was Connor. We both ordered a cheeseburger and fries once again good ambiance excellent service they made the burger exactly the way that I wanted it medium rare once again the place was so cold. I needed time to thaw out. I don't understand why the restaurant is freezing cold it was once again packed and crowded people were bustling around, which is of course a good sign. The atmosphere is very bright sunny almost like a movie with things being pink and green and very movie star like Hollywood California style. I enjoyed it. Made a reservation for 9am and it was packed by 9:30. I couldn't hear anyone at the table because it was so loud with people talking. There was music playing, but it's so loud with people talking that you can't tell what's playing. Service was pretty good until the end, where it took a long time to get to go boxes and free ourselves from the chaos. The food was good all around. Kids meals are $8 and don't include a drink, just fyi. It was $60 before tip for me and my daughter - no alcohol. I will not be back. It was just stressful and overstimulating for me. read more

The worst of all 3 Box St we have here in SA, and unfortunately closest to me. We waited and were the first to walk in and were sat in the far back corner menus down facing the wall lol, then we waited and waited to order. Not something I was expecting being first in without a crazy line. The restaurant is ran by all young people that lied about restaurant experience on their resumes. We left early because we got cold mediocre food and no service. Unfortunately my girlfriend forgot her designer wallet on the table with no one seated near us and when we came back the staff had it, but the zipper was broke and money gone. Ambiance was also 3rd place out of the 3 in SA. Side note when did the hash browns change from the cubes to plain old frozen hash browns patties. Same money worse food. read more

This would have been five stars if we hadn't gone back to try their Angus burger for lunch. Our first visit was for brunch on Father's Day and it was more than 5 stars!! Perfectly well trained service and perfectly executed food for everyone at our table. Went back for a lunch on a Monday and it was below one star. The waiter was awful. All he knew was to bring the water and pour. Left us waiting to order so long I went to the kitchen area and asked of any of the waiters there could help us. Chris came out and was excellent. Unfortunately we ended up with the first guy after we placed our orders. We ordered Angus burgers. When the first guy brought them to us we asked him which was the medium and which was the medium well and he stared at them as if he could figure it out that way!!! There were picks in the top that were used to code the burgers. One had one pick. The other had two. Any staff member should have known what those meant. He didn't and had to go back to the kitchen to ask. Then, the burger....the worst we have ever had. Angus is lean and it needs some fat added to enhance texture and flavor. We could barely chew and choke it down because it was dry as a bone. The inconsistency in staff and food made this review a 3. Brunch only would have been 5 and more if we could.
