Today's visit...pros: they always have good food and I love their coffee; the community table is an excellent option for getting quick seating when dining alone, so no wait for me which was great! Cons: the customer service was lacking today. I walked in and was the only person standing in the waiting area. There were employees at both the "seating stand" and the register area. They were all just chatting away with each other. I had to wave my hands to finally get their attention after a few minutes of just standing there. It took a waitress several minutes before coming to serve me. I immediately got the great coffee but no utensils. I tried to catch one of the staff members as they walked by but no one could "hear" me today. Someone finally come from the bathroom, walking right next to me and heard me ask for help.He quickly brought me some utensils. On the way out, guess what...same people at the front chatting away with each other...no acknowledgment, no thank you, no have a good day, no come again soon! I understand that as humans we want to connect, but when you are on the clock at a restaurant, DO YOUR JOB and serve the customers! Have your discussions on your break or off the clock. Very disappointed with our visit. We love First Watch, and we have been to multiple locations many times. Today was our first time at this location, but since we have trusted the First Watch brand, we didn't have any hesitations. The waiting list feature on the app was seamless, and we were seated right away. Our indoor table was the main problem. They sat us right next to the window with sun hitting us. My husband and I sat on the chairs that got more sun to protect our kids from the bright sun. By the time our food arrived, the harsh sunlight was directly on us and we couldn't even enjoy our food without protecting our eyes from it. The food (steak and eggs, syrup, waffle) wasn't even warm when they served it -- maybe they wanted us to finish cooking the food since we were sitting under the hot sun? When we voiced our concern about the sun, we were told that they'd usually move us to another table but the restaurant was just full. Our server told us that they've had issues with our table before -- so why keep that table open? It was supposed to be a peaceful Sunday brunch for our family, but instead we left frustrated and our kids were very uncomfortable from the sun. I voiced out my concern when I checked out and I got the same half hearted apologies. Please don't ever have anyone sit on that table when the sun hits it like that again. This morning I went to First Watch on Blanco. I feel like this is my favorite spot! Right now First Watch is falling with flavor! I've tried multiple things off the menu and have been delighted every single time. Today I had their Maple Bacon Croissant sandwich. Wow! When my waitress Ashley approached my table the smell greeted me. I took my first bite with the jalapeño on just to experience the full flavor. Got my go-to pesto chicken quinoa (I do think compared to a year ago, the serving portion has gone down) but totally understand, because the flavor is still there! So I got the classic Benedict which they add tomato to it. I'm not a big tomato fan, but I ate it with tomatoes on it was still really good. I added the billion dollar potatoes to it. Which has bacon Parmesan cream sauce with fresh herbs. I got my son chocolate chip pancake. My wife ordered a honey caramel crunch iced coffee, which was really sweet so if you don't really like sweet coffee, you don't get that one but if you do, that's your coffee. We arrived and were told the wait was 40 minutes, so we stood in their foyer as they have no waiting room and it was cold outside. After 10 minutes of waiting, from where I stood, I could count at least 12 open and cleaned tables and about 25 people waiting. I also watched what appeared to be the manager spent 5 minutes talking to 4 staff members while standing near the foyer. Why weren't they seating people? Who knows? I couldn't justify waiting while watching that kind of mismanagement. Hopefully, I will find time on a weekday to try again. Then again, I might just give my $50 gift card to someone I don't like very much! LOL! This is the worst first watch location I've been to. The people there are very kind but I went there 5 times during my 2 month stay in San Antonio and only once did I have a good experience. Luckily, that good experience was my first there so that's why I kept going back, hoping I would get the same experience as my first. The first time I went to this location I decided to dine in. The wait was incredibly long and it was a hot day so I ended up ordering online for take out and my food was ready right on time. The next time I showed up, they let me know their wait time was almost an hour. So I decided to order to-go again and run some errands and come back. My order was not ready at the pick up time. It took 36 more minutes after pick up and they said it was because they were behind with the juices. So my eggs, potatoes and bacon were ice cold when I got it bc they refused to bring my food out until the Entire order was complete - including my drink. I would've been more than happy to cancel my drink off the order so I could have gotten my food hot. The next time I go there, the entire Air Force is there. Graduation day I guess. There was a long wait again and they asked me if I would like to order to-go. So I did and I was told about 30 minutes for to-go order. Again, I waited over half an hour OVER my pick up time for food. When I get to my hotel which was 3 minutes away, my eggs were cold, my potatoes weren't even cooked through and my bacon was burnt to a disintegrated crisp. Every time I went was a different day and different time hoping I could beat the crowds but this location must just be that popular. The million dollar bacon was good but i would rename it to quarter million or half million dollar bacon.... Its just thick cut bacon with cayenne pepper seasoning and syrup.... They brought out the omelette with no extras and NO cheese! They also brought out toast after I told the waiter no toast-I even said NO carbohydrates. Just greens. I hate it when people don't LISTEN or follow directions. It took 10 more minutes to get my omelette because they remade the whole thing instead of just adding what was missing. Then they left off the sour cream. He was almost finished by the time I got my omelette. My husband got up to go to the bathroom and 3 waiters tried to take his plate-in quick succession. He wasn't finished! We felt rushed. I had just taken my last bite of greens-there was still some on my plate and here comes someone else offering to take mine. I don't care HOW BUSY you are-there is NO EXCUSE FOR CRAPPY SERVICE. Waiting 10 minutes for a glass of water is INSANE. When I inquired, I was told they had a lot of drink orders. RIDICULOUS! There is such a thing as too efficient. There are far too many waitstaff running around. Austin is just as busy, but it isnt nuts like this one. We will NOT be returning to this location.
