We didn't have a reservation but the hostess was very accommodating. She sat us within 15 minutes. She greeted us kindly and with a smile. Our server Duane was awesome. The food and drinks were very good. The vibe/ambiance of the restaurant was relaxing and the music was great. Even the patrons at the table next to mine was so friendly. We had a great conversation. LOL!! I would definitely go back when I visit TX again.

First time customers. When we arrived, it was packed, so they told us it'd be an hour wait-but only ended up being 35min. Menu was QR code only and had less variety than we thought. Oddly enough, all of the bkfst items (sausage/grits/potatoes/eggs) were ala' carte, which was disappointing, since this place is "brunch" themed. However, portions were huge, which was nice because it was a bit pricy...for a brunch spot. -3 jumbo (butterflied) shrimp/over salted broccolini/very spicy rice. -2 large pieces of chicken but nothing to rave about. -Mac & Cheese was hot & overflowing. -Pineapple Lemonade & Sweet Tea was good. Space is small, but clean. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We won't rush back but will eventually return.

There is no online wait list. If they're "busy" which is always, they won't answer the phone. The only way you'll know if the wait list is closed is if you show up in person ( gas ain't cheap) Even if that's 1 1/2 hrs before the advertised closing time. I do appreciate the manger for allowing me to be added to the wait list based on me being a single diner. They don't serve water at the table, only $3 bottled water. You are forced to buy a drink or eat without one. Would have loved to try the fish and grits but they ran out. However, I did have the chicken and waffles. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. Overall, the food was good and the manager was really accommodating. I will give them another try hopefully they implement a better wait list process as well as notifications of a closed waitlist before then

Flavor Rich offers its customers soul food brunch items that are absolutely scrumptious! Believe me, additional salt and pepper are not needed. Come hungry because you will leave full! Taste - 5/5 Everything we ate was go-o-o-d! Most memorable were the grits, the fried catfish, the pineapple lemonade and the honey brussels sprouts. Atmosphere - 5/5. The restaurant has a very nice vibe. It is inviting and highlights very cool pop art of famous R&B artists on the walls. I loved how we were listening to music while we enjoyed our meal. That was such a nice touch. The place fills up quickly, so I recommend you either go early or during the week to beat the crowd.

Came here on a Friday afternoon with a friend. I didn't see any there to make a reservation online, so we just walked in. This was actually my second attempt at coming because the wait was astronomical the first time. This time, we were told the wait would be around 20 minutes but it ended up only being 8 minutes. All of the staff were very nice and accommodating. My friend and I ate family stye, which I strongly recommend for this place because you have to try as many dishes as possible. We started with lemon drop mimosas. I honestly didn't expect much but THEY WERE SO GOOD. They really tasted like the perfect blend between a lemon drop martini and a mimosa. I wish everywhere sold them because now I think I've found my new go to beverage. Now this place is called flavor rich for a reason. That crawfish and cheese was indeed Flavor Rich! It was well seasoned but not overpowering. There was crawfish in every bite. And do you see the portion size??? The shrimp and grits were 'very demure'. I've never seen this dish look so dainty. Almost too cute to eat.. almost. Taste wise, this wasn't really the star of the show but still very good if you like to keep things simple. Now when the strawberry shortcake French toast arrived my eyes got almost as big as that Mac and cheese plate. I've never seen such an incredible display of a simple dish in my life. It was topped with fresh strawberries, cake pieces, whipped cream, and toasted marshmallows. It literally looks like something you only see on IG but no this is the real deal. We originally ordered the sampler, but were sold out. I'm actually glad that happened because we were only able to eat half a toast each. It was so decadent and reminded me of a luxury cinnamon roll. No syrup needed. As all of this delicious food fed our tummies. The satisfying old school R&B music fed our souls. It was definitely a treat to listen because most SATX restaurants don't have that. The music was also at the perfect volume. I would love to return to this amazing establishment in the future. The service, food, and ambiance were incredible and definitely worth an encore. No matter the wait, this place is well worth it.

Love this place. Visited multiple times and never had a bad experience. Now when people come to town this is the first suggestion. The food is exceptional and the service is top notch!

This restaurant was worth the drive I made to get to it. The great ambience starts as soon as you walk through the door. I was fascinated by the decor and then the presentation of the food. I pieced together what I wanted to get my ultimate meal. I opted for the vanilla bean waffles -- not realizing just how much food that alone would be. I added scrambled eggs and turkey sausages. Everything was very good and the strawberry lemonade was to die for! I also got great service and lots of leftovers to take home. I went for lunch and it was clear this is a very popular restaurant, so plan your visit accordingly.

Food is great very tasty This place is pricy they do charge gratuity and then ask for a tip, which is fine. 3 of us was 107$ They only have water in a bottle for 3$ The waitress was nice and helpful. The place its self is small but very cute inside.

I'm gonna start with an apology to flavor rich. Because I for sure waited toooooooooo long to stop in. OMG was this good. Stated a lil rocky because our server seemed to be late to work and also seemed to be the only one who was allowed to take orders. A gentleman took our drink orders but advised he wouldn't be taking our food order. We were there at 10am on Sunday right when they opened so we gave them a little grace but it wasn't the best first impression. And thennnnnn the food came. Wowowowowowow. I had shrimp and grits. Flavorful. Full sized shrimp. Delicious. My sister had the shrimp and waffles. Colossal shrimp perfectly fried. Waffles crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Amazing. Another party has the breakfast burger and said it was also delicious. Lots of flavors. Every bite for everyone was worth it. So good. The place is very nice inside. Good music playing. Relaxed vibe. There was a large party arriving there and there was a lot of chair dragging to set that up but it's fine. So glad I finally made it here. Wow. Definitely gonna return.

Can't deny the flavor here! I tried the following and here's my rating on each one: vanilla bean waffle 5/5 (not dry or overcooked and so tasty), fried fish 4/5 (so delicious just more flour than meat), and fried chicken 5/5 (great quality and flavor but just a tiny bit salty). The ambiance is chill, even for a busy Saturday it wasn't super loud and they had the R&B/Soul jams playing. I went solo so the wait was less than 10 minutes and the service was really good. I will say they seem to be understaffed or super busy. I only had water and they only serve it bottled and it's $3.00 for the 16.9 fl oz. Note: you can only make reservations the day of for parties of 10 or less and it has to be in person. They do not have a rsvp system and do not account them via phone unless your part is 10+!

Ambiance was really cool, I'm all for the black owned, black ambience themed restaurant. This is my second in SA area. As a white male who was raised the typical southern redneck ways, it seems out of my wheelhouse, it's not. I wish i could give it 5 stars but i just had to dock 1 star for few things. Not to say i won't go back, im just very strict on my ratings. But they can always be changed for next trip. Let's start with food. The omelette was lackluster, very pretty and proper. Yet, i had to pour seasoning on a few times. Still couldn't eat bit 1/4 before throwing in the towel. Literally. I had high expectations knowing what i know about the seasonings black folk put on their food (like i do when i cook too, learned from them) lol I added the sausage just in case the veggie omelette wouldn't have enough flavor kick, but to be honest the sausage was also under seasoned and lackluster. The potato's were EXACTLY what i had expected when i read it was black restaurant. That's the kinda thing i was looking forward too. Strong seasoned!! It was great. Almost like jerk flavored taters I've never been a grits eater, we were raised on meat and taters and eggs for breakfast. Never grits and I'm from the south. I've tried them at several places going to like them but never have, till now, it's still not something i would order, but they tasted pretty amazing. And love the way it was plated and presented. I didn't however like that they poured the grits like they did but all over my toast. I'm picky about foods touching cause I'm a weirdo... but grits and bread just don't match. At all. ALL THIS BEING SAID, BUT I COULDNT TRY THIER BEST DISHES. I cut sugar from my diet 6 months ago and can't bring myself to do it anymore. Even though 99% of their menu has sugar filled items. They all looked so amazing. I seen the other tables get their orders and all i could do was drool. If they ever figure out a way to make some of the bad azz breakfast desert dishes but sugar free, they would have a 4 hour wait daily and reservations only on weekends. In today's times everyone trying to eat much more healthy. Maha!!! How about a sugar free chicken and waffles. Maybe a chicken and waffles but sugar free syrup or honey, idk. I loved the pics on the walls and the suede seats!! And the gold plated spoons forks and knives. Staff was super friendly. There was zero prejudice eyes on me. I felt right at home like everyone else there. That made a big impression as that's not what happened to me when i went to a similar place in Houston. I felt like i was not suppose to be there. Needless to say, I'm going back next week and might even have my very first cheat day in 6 months and have some sugar foods. Gave 4 stars at the beginning, but now after I wrote the whole review. I realized they deserve the five star so I'm changing it right now after next meal there I'll make a decision take that star back or leave it.

There was a wait that was pretty average for San Antonio Sunday brunch, but it was well worth it. The decor was gorgeous. True to its name, the food at Flavor Rich was incredibly flavorful. The shrimp and grits were a smaller portion, but I felt full by the time I finished them. The chicken and waffles plate was huge. The pineapple lemonade was a really nice bonus. Definitely recommended if you have friends or family coming into town.

Our waitress brought out delicious croissants drizzled with honey butter that I wish now I would've saved as my dessert. They were absolutely delicious. I ordered the grilled chicken pecan salad. I wasn't sure which salad dressing to choose so the waitress recommended. I tried both the honey mustard and ranch. Both dressings were very good and I like them equally so I did half-and-half on my salad. My chicken was grilled perfectly. It was juicy and tender. All of the veggies in my salad were very fresh and the pecans were delicious with a glazed topping. Give them a try!
