John Cloud diagnosed a failed memory stick (oh no! they cost so much now!). I supplied an "extra" memory stick from one of the other computers at our church and John continued the repair diagnosing and fixing some particularly nasty software errors that had resulted from the initial hardware failure. All of our installed software now works reliably again! Great job! The machine was back in service on March 5 for a very reasonable repair cost! Well I wasn't disappointed, they showed me some all in ones then they showed me some laptops. With each showing they described what speed and what capacity it carries on the ones displayed to me. The person at the store was the utmost helpful in explaining the differences. But if you are in the market for a computer or accessories this place is a good start. Take care out there, y'all. For the first time in 28 years, I found myself alone at sea with a couple of tech issues that were increasingly problematic. Nerds in a Flash arrived late on a day that I was tightly scheduled and asked for considerably more than they had originally estimated (exactly the same job/problem I had described to them)... but redeemed themselves by cheerfully solving my problem and agreeing to the original estimate. Would I hire them again? You bet, but I recommend that you have them come in on a day that you have a flexible schedule, because your own time pressures are demonstrably unimportant to them.

I used Yelp request a quote and three businesses responded. One only does Apple products, One was less expensive but I had to travel and drop off my box, and James from NIAF. I sent up an appointment the next day. James arrived on time and was masked ad kept his distance. Turns out one of the cables for the video was disconnected in the back of the box. I was pissed at myself for not checking this rookie mistake. James ran a check on my video card, searched for updated drivers, and ran a detailed check on my box for malware. Yes, even with Norton running, I had lots of malware. The flat rate of $125. was paid and James was on his way. He did explain everything he was doing so I wouldn't panic.

Seriously super happy with Christian's customer service! We're opening a new office in Austin and…read moreneeded specific equipment. We've never been to Altex until this visit when we saw the sign from the freeway and decided to check out what the store had to offer. We walked in looking for a specific firewall, and Christian helped us find everything that we needed in the store. We didn't grab a cart when we arrived, but grabbed so much equipment that Christian helped us carry the hardware and set it aside for us at the checkout counter. We needed him to walk all around the store and show us where to locate specific parts. It was great! They had everything that we needed. Also, when our ride didn't park in the correct parking lot, Christian walked outside with us helping us carry the heavy boxes. He was so nice and helpful!!
