She didn't remove my makeup or clean the area around my brows beforehand, which I've always had done at other places. That was the first red flag. I told her clearly, "I like my brows thick. I'm just here for a clean-up," and she said okay. But once she started, she took an unusually long time, kept plucking, and then started using scissors. I should've trusted my gut and stopped her. When she handed me the mirror, I was genuinely in shock. My brows were so thin--nothing close to the "clean-up" I asked for. I told her they looked really thin, and she just said to use brow gel to brush them up. But how? She cut them so short there's nothing left to brush. Now, my right brow is noticeably thinner than the left. I look like I stepped out of the '90s--and not in a good way. I haven't been able to look at myself without getting emotional. Brows frame your face, and for many of us, they're deeply tied to our confidence. I left feeling devastated. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I hope this saves someone else from going through the same experience. If you love your brows, go elsewhere!

I recently purchased a 10-session package for $430. I only learned Alyssa was leaving because she casually mentioned it during one of my last appointments. As a client with a half-used prepaid package, I was never proactively notified, offered options, or told how my remaining services would be handled. To be fair, I genuinely tried to make the situation work. I even booked an appointment with one of the artists Alyssa personally recommended. Unfortunately, while they were kind, the results simply were not to my standards. That confirmed what I already knew: I purchased this package specifically because I trusted Alyssa's work--not simply because I wanted eyebrow threading. Feeling stuck, and without another solution, I requested a prorated refund of the unused package. I didn't ask for this refund because of any changes on my end. I requested one because the provider whose services I specifically prepaid for became unavailable indefinitely. Had Alyssa not left, I never would have requested a refund. Instead, I was expected to absorb the financial loss caused by circumstances entirely outside my control, which I believe was fundamentally unfair. Although Alyssa did agree to issue a partial refund, which I appreciate, she would only do so after retroactively repricing all of my completed appointments at the full individual session rate instead of the discounted package rate I had paid. As a result, my refund was substantially reduced. I would never have chosen to receive these services at the full individual session rate. I purchased the package because the discounted pricing reflected the value I was willing to pay. Retroactively converting completed appointments to the full retail rate fundamentally changes the financial agreement I originally accepted. I was told that Alyssa's policy only allows a package-rate refund if an artist "permanently leaves." However, "buying a one-way ticket", "planning to travel for over a year", and having "no return date"is, from a client's perspective, functionally no different. Expecting clients to leave hundreds of dollars with a business indefinitely in the hope that an artist may someday return is unreasonable and unfair. Unfortunately, this experience reflects what I now recognize as a broader pattern. When the studio transitioned to the Fresha booking app, I accidentally booked with a newly hired artist because I didn't realize the new system assigned providers differently than before. Of course, I was welcome to keep that appointment, but I am very particular about my eyebrows, and for several years Alyssa had been the only person I trusted to thread them. Rather than proceed with an artist I didn't know, I immediately explained the misunderstanding and chose to forgo the appointment and wait for Alyssa instead. Despite being a loyal client for years, there was no flexibility or grace for what was clearly an honest mistake during a confusing system transition, and I was still required to pay for an appointment I never received. I've also seen disheartening posts on her business instagram page where she appears to poke fun of clients who arrive late. While every business has the right to enforce a late policy, publicly ridiculing clients who support your business struck me as unprofessional and disappointing. Even as someone who was never once late to an appointment, I still found these posts to be incredibly off-putting. True customer service isn't only about offering clients a drink when they arrive. It is about showing respect for them in difficult situations, especially when your business can no longer fulfill its obligations. Although Alyssa's talent is undeniable, and I sincerely wish her the best with her travels, her talent doesn't excuse poor communication or unfair business practices. After six years of loyalty, I expected to be treated with far more transparency, fairness, and consideration than I received.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE YEARS-OLD REVIEWS. The photos in different lighting are the good henna I got for 30$. The other 4 in same lighting are the result of this store. I have never been so horrified by a henna result in my life, the 'skin condition' look/phase of henna should be in 1 month from now. Not less than 12 hours from getting it. In summary, they used cheap henna (not authentic), it didn't scrape off properly even after 6+ hours, it continues to stain my things even after 'scraping' it off (so I can't touch things for a long time for the next month), the artistry is unbelievably awful, and the price was as if I got a bridal henna. If this were 10$, I would not have been upset. It was 9x the price. Getting henna is meant to be a celebratory occasion- not a devastating one. I didn't even know henna could be done this badly, and now that I know it's POSSIBLE, it is a fear I will always carry with me.

You know some people say that they trust their hair only some hairstylist. And I say the same thing with my brows. I trust by brows only to SAMRITA or SIMI from the Shape Brow Bar in Fox Hills Mall in Culver City. I think having a nicely shaped brow is the same as if you have a nice haircut. I've tried so many other places, but Simi does the best job with my eyebrows. All girls in the bar are friendly and nice. But I tust only Simi and even if she is off I prefer to wait and come back the day that she works. So next time check her schedule and try her and I am sure you'll be very happy! read more

i wish i could give this place a freaking ZERO! i used to have one girl i'd go to every two weeks...Isabelle (amazing work). shes gone...finally after giving shapes 2 more tries, Harmon was brought into my eyebrow threading life. That girl knew what she was doing. i finally go back to find out she is no longer there. I AM SOLD! My eyebrows were getting really mad scientist & needed some desperate attention. I didn't have the time (or patience really) to try & take care of them myself, so when I saw this little store front in the mall I figured.. "why not?" I feel there are complaints about the customer service, but that happens with every company. The work you get done is worth trying if you're skeptical! The threaders make it painless and the take their time and make sure they are symmetrical by measuring them with the thread. :) I haven't had any problems with my membership & actually get awesome deals with it! read more

I asked the guy how much he said $35.00 I responded are you sure he says yeah sit down. After the guy is finished with my nails he says that'll be $60.00. I said " how when you told me $35.00???. He brings out the price list saying its $55 for a acrylic fill ans $5 extra for French tip. I said why did you tell me $35.00 hw just shrugs his shoulders. Then says I can't pay with a credit card I have to pay with Zelle payment or use his atm machine and can must pull out $100 only! The guy was very sneaky and unprofessional telling me 1 price before I sit down and another price once he was finished that's a scam to new customers. I would never go back to this place! I told all my friends and family do NOT go here ever !

I was very dissatisfied with the environment and the lady at the front desk, not sure if she was…read morethe owner but she has a nasty attitude, stays on her phone all the time and was talking on speaker which was about nothing professional but more of drinking and what she was gonna do this weekend. I found her to be extremely loud and she should be more professional idc how good you are at what you do. The music was sexual so I'd would never like bring my kid here like ever! The work on my hair was good but again the environment was not welcoming. I feel like the reviews here are not honest ones as when you look at Google reviews they are not good for the most part. Its one thing to be confident in your business and ability and another to have an attitude like people owe you something and that's the vibe I got. I like to support black businesses but this one is a HUGE NO for me they could not do my hair for free! Btw I've held on to my review for a few months like 10 months or more, thinking if I wanted to post it or not and decided to because people deserve to know where they are spending their money and with what kind of people.

I will start by saying that my hair was done beautifully . I got it done by someone on Nike I saw…read moreon social media . Unfortunately Nike was 30 minutes late even though she had a time policy . I would've let that go but I find it rude when you don't even acknowledge your own time policy. The hostess was sweet but it did put me off a bit when she asked if I had scheduled an appointment and I had to find the confirmation for her because I wasn't on the books. It wasn't her fault and I don't hold any malice toward the establishment itself . I just would have hoped that my stylist would have acknowledged the fact that she stressed a time policy and was late or Atleast would have apologized. Her work was phenomenal 10/10 for that. The conversations were warm and friendly . Her service 150$ for a trim and press n curl does come with a wash and condition. I washed my hair before I got there because I took my braids down the day before so she did not wash and condition me. She did stop and take several quick breaks to text on her phone for what I don't know but yeah . I didn't feel super reassured about what services I should get or what she would suggest which as a beauty therapist I found odd and off putting. I paid for my service and as I was leaving and asking questions about what I should do with my hair next she was still on her phone. It was an experience , Glad to see woman owned business doing their thing. I won't be back - it was overpriced for the service and lacked quite a bit in professionalism. My hair was beautiful though.
