Now, the place had more noise than a family reunion after someone mentions politics--two teenage softball teams carrying on, laughing, living large. Hard to fault that. Better than silence so thick you can hear your own regrets. Food showed up quick, which is about all you can ask when you're hungry enough to consider eating the menu. And it was good--honest good. Not "tell your mama about it" good, but solid, dependable, "yep, I'd order that again" good. Prices didn't make you feel like you'd just financed somebody's boat, either. Beer was cold--like it ought to be, like it better be--and the waitress understood to be there exactly when we needed her and vanishing when we didn't. That's an art form. Now the atmosphere... well, it had all the charm of a place that once had big decorating plans and then decided, "Eh, this'll do." A little on the bare side. Felt like a Friday night that never quite got dressed up. But I'll tell you this--I'd go back. And that, right there, is about the highest praise you can give a place without writing a love letter to the chef.

On the plus side, the food was piping hot. On the negative, it was a mess. The fish was so greasy that it squirted and they put the greasy fish on top of a pile of limp fries thus making them extra greasy. I was only able to eat one piece of fish. I always order water to drink because I do t drink sodas. I took a sip and almost spit it out. The water was horrible! So, I had to try to eat my greasy dinner with no beverage to wash it down. Now, let's go to the beginning. We called to see how long the wait would be. On the recording, we had to select option 2, make a reservation. We asked how long the wait was and was told 5 to 10 minutes. We asked if we could make a reservation and were told they don't take reservations. This was confusing considering the phone options. We arrived a few minutes later and were told it was about a 20 minute wait. So, in conclusion, it was a long wait for an inedible meal with undrinkable water. It was $60 (our ticket for 2)wasted. Oh, it gets better. I just got the receipt from my husband. We were charged for a coke and an iced tea. So, $8 for drinks we didn't even order!

I also added a side of mashed potatoes and fried corn. So first, the plate came out messy (see pic). It would have only taken a second to wipe off the edge of the plate. Then the pot was appeared shredded and covered in thyme and rosemary. Both over powered the meat. I'm wondering if I had the last piece and they covered things up with the extra seasoning from the bottom. My friend also ordered the pot roast and although hers was also chopped, she did not have as much thyme and rosemary- although she complained that it was too much. Next the greens tasted unseasoned and undercooked. The fried corn was not fried but were kernels of sweet corn in some type of cornstarch slurry - awful! The mashed potatoes are boxed but edible however the white gravy was not good. I missed on the menu that the gravy is white - it should be brown. Finally, we received a piece of cornbread- it was very dense but sweet. My friends liked it but I did not. My friends had a mix of feelings from "it was good" to "just ok but I won't take my left overs home." Needless to say I also did not take my left overs home. One saving grace about the meal was the fruit tea! It was delicious! I also ordered two chocolate covered strawberries for dessert and I wished I ordered more! Since it was four friends birthday- the singer (yes there was live music) called out their names and sang a rendition of "Happy Birthday". This same singer had the room up and dancing on several song! She did a wonderful job. Plus the restaurant provided a free dessert to each of the four birthday friends! They all enjoyed their desserts! So the verdict... the venue is beautiful and a vibe for a Saturday night but unfortunately I won't return for the good. Anyway, the bathroom was a single bathroom that was long and a little narrow. The sink is also pretty low to the ground (most likely to accommodate children), and it has paper towels. I ordered the Owner's New Favorite burrito with a side of Hashbrown Casserole, and it took 10 minutes and 40 seconds to receive them. The Hashbrown Casserole is very cheesy, but it was still good. The burrito despite being in a jalapeno cheddar tortilla wasn't spicy at all. I also found it was better to eat with your hands rather than with utensils. Overall, my breakfast was very savory and filling. I did learn upon receiving my check that if you opt to pay with a credit card (forgot to ask about debit cards), there's a 3.5% charge added to your total. Meaning its better to bring cash to this restaurant (which thankfully I had). I didn't notice a sign or anything at the front mentioning this, and if there isn't, I think they really should have one. Last 2 things I'll mention is that there is guest wi-fi here, and if you come to this restaurant on the day of your birthday (and you have ID to prove it's the day of your birthday), you'll get $13 off your meal. Little to no flavor. Not a sprinkle of salt or black pepper to be found on the green beans. The baked beans tasted like they came straight from the can and into a pan tk be warmed up. The meat, sweet tea and toast sealed the deal. I'm coming back for my peach cobbler. They sold out about an hour before we arrived so I will give them another try in the near future.
