i've been to this city cafe location many times in the past and have never had a bad experience that i can remember. this time was no different. we had a super sweet waitress who was attentive and friendly. this is the second time i've ordered this burrito as well and it always is a big hit with me. i love the egg whites, feta cheese and turkey sausage, and the addition of salsa just gives it a much needed boost. it's also one of the few dishes on the menu that's not a heaping amount of food lol (my friend ordered the gyro and the size of the portion they brought her was definitely a dinner sized portion.) it's never felt too dirty or crowded in this place and i always appreciate that it's pretty quiet whenever i go. certainly worth a drop in now and then, especially to walk by the display of desserts longingly. perhaps for my birthday haha read more

If you are wondering why the cooks don't substitute things off menu is because they don't speak English and in country illegally...I am vegetarian and ask why something on the menu isn't vegetarian and the waitress needed a translator and came back and said it's because of the cheese but cheese is vegetarian...lost of translation even with translator. Food is good but if it comes not like you ordered it they get mad at you. you have to ask for food or sides that come with your meal if you don't they purposely leave it out they told me. I got pecan pancakes one time and it had shells that nearly broke my tooth and they just said they take off my bill didn't offer me anything else. it may seem like a nice place but it is not worth $30 a person to eat and promote illegal living. read more

We were traveling and had a cheap hotel overnight stay, in Cleveland. Based on Yelp reviews, we chose this place for dinner. The food was very good/not fantastic, but pretty darn good. The service was fine, too. The cake was the icing on this visit. They have a cake (and pie/cheesecake selection that has to be seen (and tasted) to be appreciated. The cakes were $30 for a whole cake and $10 for a HUGE slice. If our route had taken us back anywhere near Cleveland, we would have bought a cake or two. Sadly, it would have been too far out of the way on our trip home, so no more cake for us. This place is worth a visit JUST FOR THE CAKE! And you won't mind the food. read more

I'm super disappointed with my recent visit to City Cafe in Cleveland, TN. We arrived at 12:30, a whole 30 minutes before closing, and they flat-out refused us service. City Cafe Diner of Cleveland is A1 in all of the things that matter to me. They offer excellent menu choices, including breakfast all day. Their service is polite and top-notch. I was pleased by how quickly it went from ordering to being served, but I visited on a weekday at a non-peak hour (might have hit a non-busy time?) Super quaint and cute diner. I tried their healthy egg white and sausage burrito and it was tasty, warm, and gooey. I also had a taste of their chicken fajitas and they were surprisingly very flavorful. The real excitement comes from the cakes here, though. The slices are giant, stacked, rich, and there are a multitude of crazy flavor options. The half cheesecake half cake is good because of the balance, but I really loved the Midnight Cravings cake. They're fudge frosting was DIVINE. So rich, it's unbelievable. I wasn't as big of a fan of the mousse as it tasted a bit bitter but it was a very small part of the cake and considering how much you get, you can't really complain. read more

This place has a nostalgic appearance with excellent service. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. My husband and I both got the Philly cheesesteak and was very pleased with the amount we received as well as the taste. Integrity of waiters and management is piss poor. The food was good. Paid my till then waiter said I did not. The other guest with me witnessed I paid my till with a $20.00. Beware about paying the waiters cash. Take your till and cash to the register and pay to prevent this kind of happenstance. Management is out of state and there is no way for officers to review footage. The atmosphere of the restaurant would be better if there are honest employees and management. read more

I used to live in the area of this restaurant and loved their Greek selections. So while I was traveling through the area, I made a point to stop! They have a large selection of foods that are sure to provide every customer something they'll love. ( I did not check for vegetarian or vegan options but feel pretty certain they would have some) I got the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) that came with a fresh Greek salad and pita bread. Don't let me fail to mention the CHUNK of feta on top of the salad!!! They have many incredible cakes and pies to choose from for a dessert at your meal or for events you can just grab one and go! (See the photos!) I had the baklava cheesecake. Did you hear me??? BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE!!! I also ordered a slice of the Oreo pie for my son. They give you a very generous piece! WELL worth the $8.75 they charge. Because not only is it a huge slice, but it's fresh and absolutely delicious! My server Heather was very pleasant and offered help with selections. It want real busy at the off hour I was there, and she allowed me the space to enjoy my meal in peace but also providing the service I needed. We visited this spot with family, and it has instantly become a favorite of ours. We've enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinners here, and all has been very delicious! The menu is HUGE and filled with all sorts of different cuisines. German, Italian, Latin, Greek, and American fare, to name just a few. For breakfast, my personal favorite has been the pigs n blankets. For lunch, it has been the Spanakopita. For dinner, the German style pork chops. Be warned, the portions here are huge! Saving room for dessert seems near impossible, haha! Speaking of dessert, you are greeted by a beautiful and vast display of decadent desserts the moment you walk in. HUGE cakes, pies, pastries, and other sweet treats. We ordered a chocolate éclair to go, and while it looked good, it was a big letdown. It was very dry and stale. I'm near certain it had been in the cooler display for a week or two based upon its taste and texture. We hear very good things about their cakes, so we'll probably order a slice to try next time. read more

The Cleveland City Cafe Diner is clean and comfortable. The staff is attentive and the food is VERY ample. I ordered Fish and Chips which came with a side salad (which I was surprised included more than just your typical lettuce and tomato). In addition the dinner came with a choice of two sides - I picked mixed vegetables (which were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection) and fries (a very generous portion and quite tasty). There were 6 (yes SIX) pieces of fish and they were crunchy and delicious (until I squeezed lemon all over them ). All and all, though not an epic luxury dining experience my trip was pleasant and I will definitely return! By the way - You CANNOT visit City Cafe without indulging in one of their ginormous pieces of pie or cake - Yum Yummy! read more

We had a group of eight stop for lunch on road trip for a golf outing. What a great menu with about any type of food you would want. We all had something from the sandwich menu. They were huge. I usually have a big appetite, had to take 1/2 my sandwich with me. Service was great ... my glass was half full when the second glass was brought. The case of cakes was unbelievable. Everything was great! My husband had the Cajun chicken wrap with fries and I had the Chattanooga sandwich with the second best fried okra I've ever had. My beloved grandmother made the best, God rest her soul! Salads were fresh and very good. Our server Jessie was very friendly and efficient! When we left the parking lot our hatchback popped open and a bin full of items fell out into the street. It had been a few months since we were there and today we decided to stop in. 1) Menu change - The one item I ordered 95% of the time (Health Nut breakfast wrap) was not on the menu. The waitress pointed out a similar wrap but it had turkey sausage instead of turkey like the other one. Well processed meat does not agree with me. I decided to order it and it was not the same. I will not be ordering it again. My husband ordered his usual and this time there no side of coleslaw or pickle. 2) Price increase. What used to 11.50 was now 12.95! Our first time dining here on our way home from Fla. Menu is huge with something for everyone. Local diner-type ambiance. Our server Allie was friendly, attentive and efficient.Complimentary homemade bread. Wife had a cup of chicken noodle soup and the ziti entree. I had a bowl of the soup, a dinner salad and the chicken pot pie which was HUGE--biggest one I've ever seen. Everything tasted great but we both had to take about half our entrees home. The dessert selection here is absolutely phenomenal. Just about every pie and cake imaginable, plus other things (eclairs, cannolis) You can check them out in the front cases. Prices were reasonable. At one time this Cleveland TN restaurant would have gotten 5 stars from us but not anymore for several reasons. They have this chocolate cake called the 7 sins cake that we don't eat anymore (because of the portion, price, and our diet) but it was one of the most amazing cakes we had ever had. My husband wanted to share that he also loved this cake and that the frozen ones taste terrible. Now days they give much smaller portions of cake n went way up in price. You can get a comparable much larger portion at Walmart that tastes the exact same as this cake! We had never tried Walmart before because we preferred certain kind of Kroger cakes that we ordered at holidays. But Walmart has some that taste just as good and better than city cafe we found out. The only dinner we like at city cafe is the Greek Combo dinner but we got baked potatoes instead of fries. But we changed our diets and so we don't get this anymore and quit going there. They give you less and less food every time we go there. And they raise the prices every time we go there. But it was nice while it lasted. We also liked that at one time they were open 24 hours. We liked going truckers hours. Which could be whenever you get to stop then you can eat. But not anymore. Oh well. Not much we can do about it. read more

The ambiance of this place is nice but it's also a small restaurant. The people inside were nice. I recommend their eggs Benedict and burger but not so much for the sausage and biscuits. It's mostly gravy sauce with no meat and the taste was bland. The cakes and pies are awesome. You wouldn't want not to order one before you go. read more
