Just go elsewhere... you prepay, so no matter what the results are you've already paid. Its multiple braiders in one room, you are assigned a braider by the lady at the front desk. The young lady that did my hair worked without a break, she didn't speak English, and she had a crying baby strapped to her back. I mistakenly assumed that if a store is using a braider that the person would actually know how to braid. The young lady did not know what a knotless braid was, she didn't know how to connect the braiding hair, and from the moment I sat down of my 9 hour ordeal in hindsight she never had the skill or competency to give me the style that I requested. I stopped her a few times reshowed her the picture, she shook her head and kept braiding....I gave her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps the finished product would closely resemble the picture...no where near. The style didn't last 24 hours as the braiding hair was not tightly added. I admit some of the ladies sounded like they were working with satisfied repeat customers and they do have some nice pictures on IG . But prepaying $$$ and getting an incompetent braider is an expensive experiment. You honestly would have better luck getting that friend who watches YouTube videos to do your hair then go here. read more

I had a 9am appointment, I get here and 4 other people are scheduled at the same time. 30 minutes later, still no one is here to braid. Only one person was here. Customer service is non existent! She didn't come out to see what anyone was here for. She didn't apologize for none of the braiders not being here. This is not the way to keep customers nor is it the way to run a business. My review is strictly for my braiding experience. My appointment was set for 4:30 pm. I was not in a chair until well after 6 pm. My request was quite simple and should've taken approximately 15 min. I requested a "halo" braid. A single braid around the perimeter of my head. I was finally seated and the process began. Photos were provided to give the braided an idea of what I wanted. Oddly enough, out of the 5 braiders in the salon, only one had the ability to accomplish the simple style. She began doing a nice firm braid. Maybe 15 min later she was complete. I examined the braid and notice the braid was quite uneven. She quickly took down a portion of the braid and made all correct. While she's doing my hair, she is showing the other braiders the process. Upon, completion I'm very concerned about the neatness and presentation of my natural hair and she reassured me that she wasn't done putting the finishing touches on it. While the braid was neat, she didn't apply product to the hair. She began putting globs of gel in my hair as well as the braid. I felt a bit uneasy. I was placed under the dryer for 30 min. I immediately checked my hair and could see caked up gel within the braid. It was disgusting and horrible. She explained the gel wasn't dry. After 30 mins in hell; not dry?? Back to hell I go. Still saner result. Another braider reassured me that is how it's supposed to look. No ma'am Pam. I asked the opinion of another client. She could the the globs of caked up gel from across the room. The rudeness came out! The braider told me she had other clients. I explained that I was a client as well and not a very happy one. She began to spray so much sheen on my hair until it was running down my my freaking forehead! This did not hid the globs of gel that she spread on my hair as if she were icing a cake! Needless to say, after 3 hours of wasted time I walked out of there with no braid. She advised that she was booked up and could not redo the 15 min braid. I walked out with my money and no plans to ever return. P.S. while there, a client complained about pricing..her pricing began at $150 at consultation and increased to $195 by the time she was seated to start the process. read more

The customer service is so great here. The staff are sure to feel you out so you know you are getting a style on your own taste level. The hair is included in the price of the style, and is located on premise since this is a beauty supply. They work quickly and are pretty gentle on the scalp (tender headed people understand). I had Beatrice and she was so great at conversation that I didn't feel like I was there long. She also gave me tips on natural hair care since I'm new at wearing mine naturally. I made an appointment but ended up going early, and they had had someone available for me. My braider was Fatu, she was wonderful! She was gentle with my hair as she combed through it and braided. Prior to my arrival, I made sure to wash and blowout my hair with the blow dryer so that it would be detangled and managable. I would recommend doing that before you go, it makes the processes so much faster and painless. I have no complaints and will be going back for my next braided style when the time comes. read more

Not a single hair braider here knows a lick about hair. They braid very very tight. When hair is pulled too tight, blood flow to the hair follicles is cut off. The follicles then become starved of nutrients and they die. It should be illegal to braid hair without going through a hair care course. 2 credit hours where the biology of hair is covered, I told my braider multiple times that she was braiding my edges too tight. These women believe that if you braid the hair tight, it'll last long. NO! That's not how it works. The style lasts just fine without ripping hair from people's scalp - my advice to each braider at the salon: learn about hair. A braiding license should be a thing in Texas and showing competency of hair should be required before obtaining a license. If I were the owner of this establishment - I sure as hell would require my braiders to be competent in hair, not just in the braiding but also to the basic Biology of hair. Teach these women something about braiding. read more

I come to the shop and was damn near immediately turned down rudely when they said they couldn't grip my hair when i have more than enough length to grip. This store is so filled with supplies it's like crowed and tight spaces. I don't go for the beauty supplies though, I go for the hair braiding service or should I say take down. The ladies are always quick and careful with my hair when doing my take downs (partly because they are always admiring the work of my braider) but regardless of not getting my hair braided here they are still attentive to the task and quick without being harsh to the hair. The cost of the service i receive is competitive to other salons I've called but here they are opened later than other salons and from other reviews I've seen this salon would be a better choice for you because they take their time. They are also consistent with staffing I obtained my 1st micro braids from a braider at this salon about 2 summers ago and they were very neat didn't hurt didn't pull my hair out didn't cost a ton and only the 1 braider completed the job no multiple people at one time deal here and it was only 3.5hours to complete (see my profile pic) I would recommend for your beauty supply and hair braiding needs read more

They use X-pression Kanekalon hair. Really lightweight and they don't add a lot for each braid. I only needed 3 bags and I have a lot of thick hair! It's inside of a beauty supply store so the hair is right there and it's included in the price. Great prices by the way. Look for coupons on their website. A ton of braiders available. Only took 3 hours! That's the fastest I've ever gotten braids. Started right away. Helped me pick the color and asked me exactly what I wanted. Only minus one star because you have to pay upfront first before they even begin braiding your hair. But it turned out well. Sketchy area though, right by Hobby Airport so go earlier. Just left. And advise you never to go! In addition to looking seedy from the outside the workers inside are RUDE! I went on my way home from worship to pick up a simple eyebrow razor. I usually get my brows threaded but since I am a licensed cosmetologist and have a party tonight I figured I will clean up my brows myself. Well I spent $1.07 which is nothing it was literally the change at the bottom of my purse. Since I have bought dull razors before I decided to try it on some arm hair once in the car before leaving. Needless to say it wouldn't cut my fine arm hair which is a clear indication that it won't cut my thick brow hair. I've been going to Norma at Anan's for over 10 years. I've had freestyle braids and kinky twist. Currently, I have cornrows in an updo style with a bun. Norma always does an excellent job in tranforming my look. I give both positive and negative reviews online. I try to be extra careful in deciding to give negative reviews. I know they really hurt small business owners, but sometimes people have to be warned. I got my hair done in Senegalese twists down to the waist by a braider whose name starts with "T" at the end of June and kept them in for 2-1/2 months. I was really not satisfied with the service but decided to wait until I got the twist out to see how my hair turned out before I give a review. As you can see from my rating, I'm still not satisfied. Where do I start (Jump to the bottom for a quicker summary)... 1) My hair was braided too tight even after I asked her 2 or more times to lay off the tightness. I should have stopped after the first row but didn't want to "cause a scene". Never again! I saw some hair follicles along my edges due to the tightness and had 2-3 weeks of scalp recovery before I could even put my hair in a ponytail comfortably. 2) I don't remember EVER getting my hair tugged and yanked so much to get kinks out of the braiding hair. You know that scene in The Color Purple where that girl is getting her hair combed? "Ow...ow...ow...." 3) My hair was thick and below shoulder-length before. It is scraggly and above shoulder-length now. I've lost inches and now have to pamper my hair like crazy to get it back to the way it was before. My real hair got treated like sh** while getting braided! "T" put my hair in a doubled up ponytail with a cheap rubber band to pull sections to braid. When hair in the ponytail got tangled (of course it would in a uncovered cheap rubberband), did she work the hair out? NO, she yanked it out like it was the fake stuff. Keep in mind my hair was relaxed, freshly washed, conditioned, and combed. 3) My twists weren't sealed properly. I had to go back and get some resealed. 4) I saw roaches in the corner of the room. I was facing that corner a looooong time. 5) When I asked the braider what I should put in my hair to soothe my scalp, she suggested a product their shop doesn't even carry! 6) The one star is for the professionalism of the lady at the front desk and the TVs to help pass time. However, everyone else was really unprofessional. They hardly crack a smile with customers and my braider stayed on the phone probably 75% of the time. And boy do they argue in that shop! One argument started after the one lady working on my head for 4-5 hours by that point asked me if she could take a break to do a quick cornrow job. She said I could wait for her to continue or have another lady take over. When the replacement lady came over with a "I don't really want to do this crap" or "I'm not sure if I can do all this" look on her face (I couldn't tell for sure but it was one of those attitudes), I said I will stick with the original braider. Soon after, I went to the restroom and heard an outburst of yelling. I could hear enough words (the RR is in the braiding area!) to tell that broke out between the ladies because of my decision. I stayed in the restroom a while until it calmed down. 7) Too expensive for the finished product. My hair started unraveling out of the twists in 1 day. When I went back for an explanation, I was told that it was my own hair sticking out and the braider proceeded to just slap some gel on some of the braids to smooth them back in. I went to another shop for their opinion and was told that unraveling should not have happened. SUMMARY: Unprofessional, real hair past a certain length gets treated like crap, too tight, too many "I shoulda's" on my part. Not a good place for Senegalese Twists. Seems better for box braids. I thought my head could take it. Do better than me and only go to referred braiding shops and don't be afraid to make a fuss and walk out if they are not treating your hair right. Bring your own clips or ties for them to use. You and your hair deserves the best treatment no matter how short or long it is. read more

First of all i want to say i am not a mean or messy person but you have to tell the truth on what type of service some of these ladies do. I came in the shop to get box braids with my thick short afro... 3 inch short and they said they can grip it.... No problem. I admit i arrive there late but yet they still took my money and did my hair. Made it aware that im very tender headed but I wanted to look full. So imagine braiding natural with the weave and the issue i had with her is when she put pump it up on the braids. Well it ended up on my scalp and it was itching pretty bad. Days later it gets worse so i put more oil on my scalp. Couple braids in the kitchen started to come out and this was day 3. I had No relief with the itchy sensation all over my head ..till i put a lil water on scalp. ..felt great. And thats what week old braids starter looking like 2 months old. Went back to then and she claim she told me no to put water in my hair.. If so why put something. ..full of alcohol that makes your scalp thirsty.. Even more so with me being natural. All of my thick nappy. My daughter and I used to go there often. I took a trip from the other side of this. No. As a hair braider you should know something about the products you are using. I went in Saturday to get some braids done. They told me to leave my number and they would call me to come back. They called me 2 hours later which is fine I got my braids done and everything seemed fine. It is now Tuesday and they are already coming undone. I've tried to call them a few times today and they aren't picking up. I'm very disappointed by the end result since I paid $65 and for the braids to only last 3 days. I'm not even sure if I would go back to get them redone if they did pick up and give me the option.
