Terrible. Terrible!! Terrible!! Have been coming to Braids by Kadi on and off for 2 years. Only because it's very hard to find braiders that service children. They have never once been on time!! Even when I call the day before to confirm the appointment. Most recently, I had an 8am appt. Got there and they asked me to come back at 10am. Can't back at 10am and still they were unavailable. Finally agreed to come back at 2pm and did not get out of the shop until after 9pm. It was supposed to be a 3 hour style. Mind you, then was for a 6yr old. Can you imagine the agitation??? Two months later decided to give them another try. Made another 8am appt. Called the day before to confirm. It is now 9am and the shop is closed and dark. I keep calling the other shop and the number that's in my booking confirmation. No answer. Texting the owner, and they do not respond. Please save the time and headache and go somewhere else. They do not value their customers or respect people's time. read more

I wanted to love this place because it is open 7 days a week. However, both of my experiences have been horrible. I live 2 hours & 45 minutes away, so the drive is long. During my first visit, l requested knotless cornrows in the front & singles in the back with human hair. Pretty clear instructions. I asked the cornrows to be braided in an angle or curve. And not straight back. I also provided a picture from their website. My appointment was at 9:15, which l confirmed the day before. The braider arrived at 10:30. Her name was Carol, and she said that she was scheduled to come in at 10am, not 9:15 (1.5 hrs wasted). I showed her the picture & told her what l wanted. Carol understood almost no English, as the language spoken by the braiders was French. Even so, when you are explaining things to her or confirming your braid design wishes, she answers yes. Carol started to braid my hair in the bohemian style, which is not what l asked for. I stopped her & again explained that l wanted singles in the back & cornrows in the front. Not bohemian braids. She couldn't understand that and became confused and paused. She stopped braiding my hair for almost 40 minutes while she called their shop in Antioch to speak with their scheduler/translator. Now, a total of 2.5 hrs have been wasted, and she hasn't braided 1 braid. After going back and forth on the phone between the translator, Carol, and myself, she started braiding my hair. I am now tired & regretting my appointment with Kadi's braids in Stockton. I have been wearing braids for almost 30 years, and l can tell you without any hesitation that Carol is a good but inconsistent braider. Her braids are not uniformed in size, and she braids SLOWLY . People that arrived 1 to 2 hours after me had their long bohemian braids completed and left HOURS before me. When we arrived at the cornrow part of my style. I again showed Carol the picture from their website, which showed it braided in an oval shape & not straight back. However, Carol started braiding the cornrows straight back and larger than the photo. I stopped her & restated that l wanted the cornrows angled or curved like an oval shape as in the photo. Carol replied yes & started braiding them straight back. Language barrier made clear. Approximately 12 HOURS LATER, my braids were completed, & the cornrows looked nothing like the photo on their website. It is almost solely due to the language barrier with the braider. The customer is not informed ahead of time that the stylists speak very little English. I have had the same style braided numerous times, and the MOST it has ever taken was 8 hrs., not 12. Carol is nice, and braids with a gentle touch that does not cause it to be too tight, which is nice. However, she braided slower than anyone who has ever braided my hair before, & you can not clearly communicate with her. I arrived home at almost midnight. (P.S. They did not clean or sterilize their combs before using them in your hair. I watched Carol and 2 other braiders. Pull combs from their drawers that still had hair in them & use the comb in their new clients' hair. l watched them drop the combs on the ground once or twice & pick it up from the ground & placed right back in their clients' hair) l emailed Kadi about this unhygienic action & never received any reply. The first photo in the mask is from their website & is the style l requested with human hair. The other two photos are what my braids actually looked like. (RESPONSE to owners untruthful comments) Hello Kadi. The above review is from the appointment dated 5/4/24 and not 7/2: When: Saturday, May 4, 2024 9:15 AM PDT 7/2/24, 2nd visit: I had an appointment with Carol at 3 pm. Due to a multiple car accident on 99, I called when l saw the traffic jam. l arrived at 3:20. I told Carole that l wanted the medium cornrow pony braid style. I requested 1 thing. Please do not braid the front straight back & showed a photo. We started at 3:30 & ended near 9:15, bc she was slow & had to redo 5 braids that were braided straight back due to her. read more

The service here is terrible. The owner is money hungry and accepts anything. There has been multiple occasions recently I have asked to get my hair done and asked for 2 people and she always says yes but you show for your appointment they are always late and I would only get one person. They would lie and say someone is on the way and just keep doing your hair. The second occasion my daughter was supposed to get feed in braids. She was booked with this older lady who took 3 1/2 hours just to braid my daughters natural hair and then my husband asked to have added hair in the beginning of her appointment they said they could do it. Almost 4 hours later the owner was there helping the older lady braid my daughters hair and then tried to say it was our fault because we added hair to the service and she was booked and the lady doing her hair didn't know how to do that. To argue with a customer is crazy I have always been a loyal customer and paid great tips of $50 or more. I would never return to this shop nor will I recommend her to anyone. Over the years this shop has went DOWN HILL! The Antioch shop has a new team of women every 3 months. Every time I book with Kadi, I show up and I am told she is in Stockton or out for the day and they give me and my daughter someone else! Recently I sent my daughter with pictures of the style and the Braider told her she DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO BRAID DESIGNS only straight in a pony tail! My daughter came out looking like she's 40 when she's 12!!! Her ends were dipped and suppose to be spiral curled well her ends look like rough lions hair and her braids are frizzy! One time I paid for a sew in and the girl put edge control in my middle part and PRESSED my leave out and it's proofed up! I will never waste my money here again! read more

Horrible!!!! Everyone except for Claudette. They are very unprofessional and argumentative. Ladinos never there and there is never anyone in charge. You ask who's in charge and they all start pointing at each other. Then they wonder why we don't support our people. I have been there twice and Claudette does an excellent job. And she is very kind. My first time at this salon, as the one I normally go to doesn't do knotless braids. My braider was overbooked and heavy handed. My appointment was at 9 but I wasn't sat in a chair til 11. Half way through my hair, she had another client come in who she took & finished before returning to me. I left the salon at 6pm. My braids were very tight. During the 2nd week I started to notice white specks all throughout my hair line. I thought it was dried flakes from the gel she used. Turns out they were my hair follicles. The braids were pulling out my hairs from the root. I had to take the braids out just after 2 weeks. It's been about a month since then and I'm still dealing with bald patches around my hairline and broken hair all throughout my head. read more

3.5 star rating. Because I've been here a few times and delt with different braiders/ stylist and have gotten different styles none of which were the original style that I presented to the stylist. The prices don't match the quality of the styles. Especially when the braider doesn't even get close to the style you've shown her or talked about and it's always an excuse to who the style ends up different. I was just there getting a simple braid down (cornrows) and was charged 60$. Why? And I had some leave out because I wanted to do singles in the front & crochet in the back. Been going here for a while. Loved the business structure in the beginning, now it's a mess. There's this new lady that keeps messing people up; including mines. They can't do custom hairstyles correctly and will blame the brand of hair. Last couple times I went I have totally had to get freestyles of what I actually wanted because the braiders can't seem to manage in addition to complaining about their problems while doing your hair. I use to love this place! I started as a client at the original shop. I travelled from Oakland for the past couple of years to come here passing up hundreds of braiders. However NEVER again! Customer service sucks the minute Kadi is NOT around. That's a problem! Not to mention the inconsistency of braiders. I miss Rose! Stay away from this place if u want great customer service, consistent braiders and consistent pricing. It actually makes me sad to leave this review. Since I had love for this place I will say Laurel and Kadi are the best braider there BUT be aware u may not get them even if selected when u make appointment. Lastly, Kadi attempts to address concerns but some of her teams members make it hard as they behave one way in her presence and another in her absence. Unacceptable! I booked knotless boho Bob. After arriving i was told to sit in the chair. (I had Titi as my braider and I didn't select her). The vibe was not welcoming. Titi was prepping braiding hair and then the hair I brought for the Boho portion. Titi noticed in my bag I brought braiding hair (which I always have just incase) so she then asked me for x2 packs of what I brought, and I handed it to her not knowing really thinking she was going to use it but she walked to the back with my hair and then returned empty handed to start back doing my hair....Titi used completely different hair Ive never seen before (never using the one she took from me except the boho hair) and then my hair after it was done was extremely heavy and I was not happy with it at all she curled my ends and it did not match the pattern of my boho hair furthermore I also asked for knotless braids and I could tell she did regular braids. I was ready to take it out as soon as I left. I spent over $300 just to be unhappy And pretty much be taken advantage of by her taking my hair. and then when I was done, i saw her grab my hair she took from me and start prepping for the next clien. I was livid. I couldn't confront her because all she would do is speak in a different language to her coworkers and make something up. I just prayed and let it be. I say this so this doesn't happen to anyone else at "Braids by Kadi". I ve been there before and had service by the owner which that was a good experience but not this time. I hate to do this. I have been coming to Kadi's for years. I have never had this experience in all the years I have been getting my hair braided at Kadi's. I got box braids like I normally do. Not even a whole week after I had my braids done, I had huge pieces of hair coming out of my braids. I contacted Kadi and informed her of what was going on. Kadi asked when I wanted to come. I let her know I would like to come in on Saturday and what was the earliest appointment time. I never got a response after that so I booked a touch-up appointment. I paid the $50 deposit to book the appointment. I texted Kadi after to let her know I had booked the appointment and wasn't sure if I should pay since it had only been a week. I received no response. I got a call the day before to confirm my appointment, I explained to the assistant what was going on. I got to my appointment on Saturday and showed the young lady my hair. She asked how much did I want to be fixed. I told her the back. All she did was re-braid 2 rows in the back. Called herself tryna use the braiding gel and spritz to tuck the large pieces of hair coming out of my braids. Left my braids down to dry hoping it would work. But it didn't!!!! I am not happy with my service this time around. I don't feel like I should have even had to pay a deposit fee since it has been days to a week. My hair usually looks like this after a month not days. Due to this, I am looking for a new place to get my braids done. This is not a good representation of Kadi's shop. I cannot deny that this shop does not deliver some of the best and quickest styles in the Bay. With that said, as a fellow African I know that we NEVER favor or respect time so you've been warned. I did wait 2 hours after my scheduled appointment at 10am to actually sit in my seat. I was calling the owner to give my grievances after about 5 calls and 3 text messages I was finally able to get ahold of her and she did share my same sentiments and frustrations. I appreciated that regardless of the energy the women in the shop were dishing out. For me, I was committed to patronizing them still because their work is nice and neat and that's my sole purpose of being there. I went in to get micros. I want to give 4&1/2 stars, simply because my appointment did not start out so well. But going down to 4 stars does not do these ladies and this shop the justice it rightfully deserves. My absolute one and ONLY issue was the fact that there was a timing mix up that really had me in a tizzy and could have really ruined my day. HOWEVER, once I got into Betty's chair, I KNEW I would be coming back. Not only was she quick, accurate, could truly braid some hair - but she was also genuinely nice! She made sure to check in on me - was she braiding too tight? Was she taking too long, etc..? Just NICE. And the answer to each question was - NO. Absolutely not, even those very sensitive edges that usually have me cringing - I have absolutely no idea how she found a way to get them nice and crisp without hurting. It was an amazing experience you all. I have been to African Braiding shops before, where they could braid, but the women were so nasty, rude, did not care if they were hurting you - never stopped to check on you, took crazy breaks, never thought to speak English at any point, and did even LIKE each other. So weird. The women at Braids by Kadi braid like nobodies business, come up with super fly styles, planned and off the cuff AND they were actually nice people! Of course, there was a lot of Francais - and je ne parle pas bien le français, But it did not take away from my experience at all. I am already planning to get both of my adult daughters in to see Betty asap and already planning to go back for some small Senegalese twists in a couple of months.
