The ladies are quite friendly which I being a paying customer appreciates. I was a walk-in and asked for a few things. I asked for highlights, Japanese straitening and haircut. Got suckered into an all over color that made me look like the lion king because Rose said the highlights will not look well with black hair and my hair is brown. She also said it won't look nice because on the bottom of my hair is a lighter brown. Then Rose said we cannot do Japanese straightening on highlighted hair which is a lie because I have had it done before. Forced me into a Brazilian straightening that lasts maybe 5 months she said. I was there for 7 hours in which she said do you have a couple of hours, I thought maybe 3 hours max. Nope, they took other customers while I sat in the chair, they didn't even put me under the heat machine to speed up the process. Took more customers then proceeded to wash dye out. Had Rose and her coworker both work on my hair. Asked for small thin highlights so it blends and came out with chunks. They had me sit there while they did more customers. Again no heat lamp to speed up the process. My Brazilian straightening what a joke, they missed quite a bit of hairs that are so curly. The reviews of highlights are very misleading. I will never go back. $420 later plus a $20 tip plus had to buy toning shampoo and conditioner to try to fix their mediocre work. I'm very disappointed. I wanted to live this place since it is local. Most customers are older and mostly get haircuts or color. A girl walked in with super long hair and wanted long layers and her hair looked exactly the same as she walked in. No justice for the younger crowd. I wish I could ask for a refund. Now I will stick to my usual place Structure in Westlake, worth the travel and price. read more

I'm a senior, a DIYer, and I don't ordinarily go to salons simply because: 1) They can be quite pricey, 2) The wait is too long even with an appointment, and 3) The outcome isn't always what I expect. Okay, so a couple months ago I decided to treat myself to a wash/cut/blow-dry at Ultra Hair Design. I arrived on time for my appointment and was asked to wait an hour for the other employee to arrive. When it was my turn, all went well, and the cut seemed okay but not as short as I wanted. Cost was $40 which included tip. When I got home, I cut more hair and styled it to my own preference. Overall, the experience was okay, and if I ever decide to treat myself again, I probably will return to Ultra Hair Design because the employees are friendly, and the salon is close to home. :-) read more

Definitely coming back! Called in day of to see if they could accommodate me and the lady on the phone was so nice and answered all my questions that I was inquiring about. I had long pandemic hair and was overdue for a cut. Walked in and Rose was the one who attended to me. She was kind asked what I wanted and confirm the process and length before cutting. Haircuts can be nerve-wracking at times especially going to a new place for the first time, but Rose literally gave me the best cut and my hair looks so healthy. I get my hair cut here pretty often. The Asian ladies are nice and personable and pay attention to what you ask for. Men's cut is $11 (plus tip). When I go there's normally not much of a line. The shop is kept clean and it's brightly lit. They sell shampoo and other styling supplies. Dunno what else to add. It's a good place to get a hair cut. I see women here too, so I guess they do a good job "styling" too. read more

Most of the reviews said to look for Rose, called in for an appointment, it was kind of busy but they still honored my appointment. I hate giving one stars but I had the worst experience here ever. I had hair that was shoulder length and I literally told her I just wanted one inch at the most just to get rid of my dry ends and I wanted some layers. I mentioned to her that I'm trying to grow out my hair long and so I don't want much taken off. By the time she's done with my hair, which took her less than 10 minutes, I have a Marilyn Monroe haircut with short layers and can barely put my hair up into a ponytail. I felt ugly ever since and all that progress I made to try and grow my hair out was pushed back. I still feel ugly and all I can do is wait for it to grow. I wanted to cry right in front of her. I felt so embarrassed walking back to the car and showing my boyfriend. I told her what I wanted and showed her and she gave me the exact opposite of what I wanted. As mentioned in my check-in, at about 10:05 am, there were two stylists in the middle of a couple ladies' haircuts/style. There was also two male haircuts ahead of me. I was acknowledged right away, and was told about a 40 minute wait. I am glad that I did not go too far, after about 10 mins, the ladies were getting cleaned up. The next two were almost ready to go. When it came to my turn, one of the stylists was very friendly, inviting me to her chair for my haircut. The rest was quick as she made light conversation, also making sure I approved of every step. Done by 10:35 am. This place isn't flashy, there's even dust on an old, non working register at a stylist station, but they get the job done at a great price! I will definitely be back! read more

I've been coming here for the past decade or so! Great haircuts at a low rate of $12 plus tip. Wait times Mon-Thurs are usually a few minutes. Sometimes a wait of 10-15 minutes on Friday and Saturday. The ladies are nice and personable. Plenty of magazines and television if you do have to wait around. read more
