Scrambled eggs are like eating rubber. If you don't cover your eggs with sauce you will realize this. Coffee just ok. Some servers are condescending to older women, addressing them as "honey ". Otherwise service is ok. This is a neighborhood restaurant and very noisy. A reputation for service to drunk students late at night after partying. I give my business to another restaurant in the neighborhood where food and coffee are superior. read more

Some places do one thing well and don't need bells and whistles to draw people in. After my visit here I will add Braille coffee to that list. A simple menu is all they have but it's all they need. It's great to find a place that does not have to rely on syrups and other frills to sell coffee and espresso. So lucky to find this place - So lucky students are on their Summer Break... Got recommendations from all over, so we had to try this breakfast gem. And gem it is. Service is quick with huge smiles. The place got about four different "spots" "rooms", a very convenient place to come with your kids whether they're bambinos or teens. We just moved from Houston, TX & have been trying new restaurants since we got here. Brails has a great breakfast menu. I personally had the Monte Cristo with Fries. My husband had chicken fried steak & my 2 year old had the Mickey Mouse pancake. Food was all delicious!!! & service was AWESOME. I wish i had got the lady's name to appropriately refer to her, however, everyone in the restaurant was welcoming. The ONLY thing i did NOT enjoy from this restaurant was their coffee. Great place for a simple breakfast. Didn't wow me but it works when you just want to eat out for breakfast. I got the biscuits and gravy which were good but needed pepper. My boyfriend and I both got a side of hash browns but they were undercooked and only fried on one side. He got an omelet. Prices are kind of weird too. Orange juice was $3.95, side hash browns were $4.25 and my half order of biscuits and gravy was $5 something. Better than chain breakfast places like ihop. read more

I was impressed by the full espresso bar - I ordered a cappuccino and it was of the quality you'd expect from a small coffeehouse. When was the last time you got great coffee at a diner? And the food was excellent. Perfectly sized proportions, even for a bigger guy like me. I got the chicken fried steak - the crispiest one I've ever had, tender meat with no tough bits, and a nice classic sausage gravy with a sprinkling of paprika on top. The eggs were classic diner eggs cooked exactly how I asked, and the hash browns were cooked wonderfully and crisp on top. Last but not least, it didn't break the bank! Went for a late breakfast (around 11) and was a little worried about how long the wait would be considering the place seemed pretty packed. We only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated, and our servers were really great throughout our meal. The food was pretty average, but the prices and quality are definitely better than a chain like Denny's. The place was a bit noisy, but overall had good vibes. Prices were reasonable with the portions except when it came to an order of fruit. Not enough fruit for what they charged. Would I go again? Brails will always get a 5 star review from me! I sent my college years at Brails every single weekend (and sometimes multiple times). Pretty sure I would even skip class to go get a meal there! Their breakfast is as classic as it gets. It sort of has a dive bar feel. The owner, Joy, is so nice and always says hi to her regulars! I have had 20 minute conversations with her during breakfast. I always order the small breakfast with egg, toast and hash browns. It's pretty filling, but if you have a big appetite, go for the big breakfast! My other two favorite are the veggie benedict and the tuna melt (with avocado added of course). If you are ever in Eugene and you need a fun, tasty, casual place to go for breakfast, Brails is your spot! It's also the perfect place to start your game day mornings. read more

Overall really yummy hangover food! I went last Sunday and got the breakfast burrito with home fried potatoes. The burrito was on point and made for amazing leftovers but the potatoes were kind of really gross. Greasy and undercooked. I had some of my boyfriend's hash browns though and those were really really good. Apparently if you plan on going here it's an unspoken rule to get the hash browns and not the homefries. I used to love this place, but on a recent trip, a staff member poured hot coffee over my leg and purse. What stunned me was that I wasn't even offered a towel after this happened, and no one bothered to check in on me again the entire time my party and I were there. I just sat there with a makeshift cold compress on a burn, and nobody from the staff seemed even mildly concerned, even when they were notified by my friend. Good place for breakfast! Had the big breakfast with a sausage patty. The patty did come out slightly pink but Joy took care of that right away! She brought me a different patty, fresh hash browns and new toast. Then she took it one step further and paid for my meal! Joy (the owner) was a joy to watch her do her thing. She is a energetic, spunky and constantly moving. Heard her asking if her customers were doing ok as well as heard her asking her staff if they needed anything and if everything was ok. I give it a 3.5 over the course of a few visits. Brail's has the honor of being a local favorite for years in food, hospitality, and their owner Joy. I had the delight of meeting her and she is quite a fascinating book of quick stories if you can catch her or she stops by your table. The diner-like interior throws customers into a no-frills all-american establishment. Photos line the walls, people sit in booths along the walls, and various patrons read newspapers in the kitchen counter area. Clacking dishes and frying food in the background complete the relaxed-if-loud atmosphere. The grub includes american-diner staples such as pancakes, biscuits and gravy, omelets and scrambles, and chicken-fried steak. But it also includes a few dishes one wouldn't normally see in other restaurants like Brail's; loco moco, teriyaki omelet, beef bulgogi, and a bacon waffle. Yet, it has been hit or miss in terms of quality, but you won't leave hungry as the portions are plentiful for the price. The loco moco was overly salty even with the rice and egg that helped a bit. I am not too sure if the gravy or the patty itself was overly seasoned, but it seemed a fluke since the previous visit included some tasty fried steak. That was good, if nothing too over-the-moon. The service was, however, very dependent on who was waiting. I've had an older gentleman who was extremely attentive to everyone at the counter and neighboring booths next to the front. Coffee-pot in his hand, he had sure everyone had a full mug of the rather delicious house brew and had their order taken down. But then I have had it where I have been simply ignored (by someone else of course)). Even with the time spent reading over the menu and making my decision of what to get, I had an odd amount of time waiting for the waiter to come back. But only to have my order taken by someone else. After some time, I noted a plate of food that had been sitting in the order-up window a good time before a different waiter came over to me, asked what I had, and brought said plate over. To which it was not that hot. It was simply odd since it was not that busy and there seemed to be plenty staff on-hand. It's a neat place of an American-diner with local Eugene flair despite a few rough spots. I don't understand how this place only has 3 1/2 stars.... they definitely deserve 5! I'm totally in love with Brail's, it is my go to breakfast joint, and I have never been disappointed, even when it gets busy. The service is always warm and inviting when you first walk in, and the food is always served in a timely manner and tastes more than good. It is a homey restaurant, the food isn't hipster, if that makes sense, it's just traditional and straight to the point, and that's what I love and appreciate. I think everyone should try out Brail's! There are so many places In Eugene that sell breakfast, but this place is the nicest inside and decorated I've seen so far. The pancake my son had was huge, but not too heavy like most pancakes. My husband had the small breakfast with half biscuits and gravy to which he said "biscuit was amazing, soft and the gravy left much to be desired". I had the breakfast meat burrito with all the veggies and it was sub-par. It was a bunch of random things half ass wrapped up in a tortilla with nothing to bind it all together. As soon as you cut a piece to eat, all the filling falls out n goes everywhere. Home fries were super dry and lacked seasoning all together. The highlight of my meal was the glass of water.
