Great service! Good food. We had the Spanish omelette, French toast and pancakes. Would highly recommend! My mom joined us and tried to use the facilities. There are no handicap bars in either of the restrooms so she had difficulty getting up from the toilet. My mom isn't one to ask for things but this time she brought it to the hostess' attention. Unfortunately the hostess couldn't just take the feedback and thank her. Instead she told us that's what you get from 1948s. The hostess then went on to say that they do offer the employee bathroom in the back when people ask for a bathroom with a bar. How many clients have silently dealt with this not knowing that there is another bathroom? A gentle note here that your clients shouldn't need to ask you to be ADA Compliant. After hearing high praise for Brail's and that it's an institution in Eugene, I was stoked to try it out! Though, maybe it was an off day, I didn't really see the hype. I'll admit, the staff are fairly friendly, and the community vibes are totally here. The food just didn't really do much for me. The coffee was incredibly bitter. No amount of creamer was saving it for me, and I'm typically not too picky about my diner coffee. I got the Brail's Omelette and it was absolutely stuffed with toppings. I thought this was pretty good. The contrast of the bacon and ham with the fresh veggies was great. Salty and meaty but also fresh! That said, the home fries were below average for me. The potatoes were cut incredibly thick, near raw on the inside, with no crisp. Even the smaller pieces didn't have a crispy outside. My wife got a pancake, hashbrowns, and sausage links. Her pancake was gooey in the center. It wasn't raw exactly, but the center was noticeably undercooked. The sausage links were good, and the hashbrown was just fine--pretty standard for diner hashbrowns. I hope to come back and be proven wrong about this place. But upon my first visit, there are other breakfast spots in the area I'd choose to go to. read more

My partner and I went here for breakfast this morning. It had been on my list to try for a while so we finally stopped in. We arrived around 10am and were seated immediately. The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside! It wasn't too busy, only one other group was in our dining room when we arrived and it filled up shortly after. The server came to us pretty quickly and took our drink orders. We both got a hot chocolate, which arrived within minutes. It was clearly Swiss Miss but the whipped cream was really good. Our food came about 10 minutes later. I got the big breakfast with scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links, and white toast. My partner got the French toast sampler with bacon and fruit. Everything was pretty good! The hash browns were perfectly crispy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My dish was the perfect size for how hungry I was. My partner's French toast was also really good. Our server was very nice and attentive. He was checking on us and his other tables frequently and was not pushy at all when he dropped the bill. This place is a classic brunch spot in Eugene. The portions are ginormous, menu is huge, and the service is quick. I got a Monte Cristo with onion rings, and everything came out fresh. The sandwich was yummy and came with lots of meat. The side portion of onion rings were very generous. Great little brunch spot. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated almost immediately despite the busy hour. They have two sizes of mimosas here, one called the man-mosa, which is in a 16 ounce glass. I chose the smaller normal size mimosa. Delicious! We split a huge cinnamon roll, gooey with the yummy icing, served piping hot. My son ordered a breakfast burrito, it was delicious. I tasted some of his hashbrowns and they were crispy and perfect. I ordered a pancake with a couple eggs and the pancake and eggs were wonderful. They did not mind that we brought our own latte and mocha in with us. Very chill and friendly atmosphere. read more

Wow! What happened to our beloved restaurant? It seems they are more interested in their "take-out" folks than those who actually come in to the restaurant. After bragging to our friend that the food is great and you get it fast.....we sat for over 30 minutes, watching take-out orders go out the door. When we finally got our food, it looked terrible. The omelets were paper thin eggs rolled around some cold ingredients. The hash browns, (usually our favorites) were overcooked and tasteless. Our guest had hash browns that were barely cooked. Since there weren't many people in the restaurant when we arrived, we were super disappointed with our experience. I won't mention the prices. (okay......$15.00 for omelet??) A good old country breakfast! We are in town for the Oregon relays and had coffee at Dutchbros and the barista recommended this spot. We love recommendations from locals and he chose great coffees for me so why not. He didn't steer us wrong. This really unassuming spot had the best, filling breakfast. Angie, our server, could not have been more kind or attentive. She was nice enough to move us to a larger table because we convinced some other track parents to join us. GREAT gluten free toast with butter - much better than most grocery store brands. Eggs were perfectly cooked. The home fries needed more seasoning and were slightly underdone but nothing a lil pepper and salt can't fix. Sausage was great. Gravy was also under seasoned but I added pepper and it was good. The portion was pretty good for a $12ish plate of brunch. I asked for a side of fruit but they didn't have it. If you want fruit come earlier because we came on a Sunday around 11 and they were out. This place was right around the corner from my hotel while we were here for a track meet. So I came three times and had three different items. They were all delicious. The first day I had the spinach omelette, the second day I had the veggie eggs Benedict, and the third day I just had breakfast sandwich to go.
